A random thought: Nadia scares me and yet I kinda want her to step on me but she literally would and it’d hurt a lot. Also, I missed Jess I’m glad she’s back.

Most badass character: they’re all really badass in their own way but purely physical, then Nadia

cracktp: xue x mal (idk why i can see it but i can)

Character I find most attractive: Ata (she’s mine I have a weak spot for her okay) or Aura (she’s also a professional model pls)

Character I would marry: Xue (soft bean who chooses kindness?)

Character I would be best friends with: Ata (do i have an issue with favouritism? maybe??) or Shazi (it’d be so cool to have a friend who you know has your back)

A random thought:

Does Nadia just need a hug? Like, does she just need a minute-long hug from someone? Can someone please give this to her? 

I love the range in brokenness here, and just what each have done with the circumstances life has given them. 

(I’m also imagining a forced slumber party with these girls and I’m wincing at the pain and chaos that would ensue with Nadia in their mix)

So much desire ( bound to her veins, flooding through her mouth ), but where was the compromise? When was the time for laying down swords, a burial of her pride and that stupid, stupid hope? What has it ever left her with, anyway, except that familiar white noise ( endless, exorbitant ) in her head? Oh, but don’t misunderstand her — she has tried to tether herself to glorious dawns and grand revolutions, yet she slips the noose every time, out of habit. A large part of her demands this self-preservation, and it is a murderer — of loyalty, of goodness ( those pretty, ultimately dishonest intentions of hers ). 

What was a martyr anyhow? 

All she knows is the way they bleed, and assumes herself capable in this ( but watch, how she flinches at the prospect ). You know nothing about self-sacrifice, little pixie — and they all call you just this, for your ignorance. Her heart christens itself on fear again tonight, wayward disciple who has at last found their way back to this cruel, uncharitable religion. Yes, she thinks she’s shaken the shadow off her heels, until all at once, it kisses her neck and wraps around her like they are lovers reunited — fingers in her mouth, on her waist, pressed against her sternum as if to test her heartbeat below ( where’s the tremor, darling? how else would you welcome me? ). Doesn’t she know terror just this well? It’s almost like romance, an extravagant something, except that it’s not ( except that her fear, it kisses only with its teeth, embraces her with its claws ). She knows nothing else.

Although, let her tell you of this affair with happy ever afters and the fairy tales under tongue, where she attempts to hide her softness, but she’d be lying to say that she’s known anything except calamity — it doesn’t fail to possess her, even after all this time. Can’t you see? Ivory wires tug on her joints, drag her clumsily to signs illuminated condescendingly with the word: ‘ EXIT ’ ( is it her father who plays marionette though? or is it her, after all? the dark-eyed gaze is so familiar ).

“I’m sorry.” Her tongue curls softly around the words, and the utterance is so slight that she can barely even hear herself when she speaks — an apology directed to the person who she’s aware looms just behind her, balled fists and clenched jaw. “I don’t want to fight anymore, I can’t. Please, don’t make me,” she pauses — her lashes, thick and dark, closing together as she takes a deep breath, “Please.” Her plea, however? It is all for show ( smoke and mirrors ), because she won’t take no for an answer.

She can’t.

Weaving in and out, her heart thumped in her chest, a strong residue of alcohol insuring that it was exhilaration and not fear that spread throughout her body. Heels in hand, Nerissa trailed after Shazi, casting an occasional look backwards to make sure they weren’t being pursued. She could have picked out those guards at any time, anywhere. They were, she knew, living on borrowed time. But each moment was beginning to feel like her own slice of forever. “Faster!” She urged, moving forward to Shazi’s side, Catalina on her other. It was fruitless to try and run away - but none of them knew that. Not yet, anyway. Looking back once more, she couldn’t help but giggle, still happy - despite it all.

I feel like Carter would give the most fun that night, and she’s too optimistic about life for them to handle marriage together, and she can’t see Carter being super enthusiastic about a good cuddle session either. All Ata wants are cuddles from those she looks up to (nothing like good physical touch for reaffirmation), and Shazi is definitely high up on that list. Also it’d be warm, and Ata thinks that Shazi gives amazing hugs. And then marrying Sean because they’d have that commitment thing down to a pat, and there would be a whole lot less angst for the two of them.
