Key Speakers and Highlights:

Professor Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO East Asia Regional Office, opened the session with a video message, urging the importance of accurate information and preparedness. He highlighted the role of journalists and policymakers in raising awareness about safeguarding education during extreme winters.

Brigadier-General B. Uuganbayar, Deputy Director of Mongolia's National Emergency Management Agency, discussed “Lessons Learned and Winter Preparations.” He detailed the agency’s proactive steps, including clearing 138,000 kilometers of roads to ensure access to essential services. He emphasized learning from past dzud disasters, citing massive livestock losses between 1999 and 2002, which deeply impacted herding communities.

Mr. Shahidul Islam, Associate Project Officer of UNESCO East Asia, reiterated UNESCO’s commitment to education continuity during natural disasters. He recommended creating Mongolian-language emergency education guidelines, training counselors, and empowering teachers. In collaboration with UNICEF, educational resources have been distributed to 26,000 children affected by drought to support continued learning at home.

মশা শুধু একটি বিরক্তিকর কীট নয়, বরং এটি বিভিন্ন রোগের বাহক হিসেবে পরিচিত। গ্রীষ্মকাল এলেই মশার উপদ্রব বাড়তে শুরু করে। এই সময়, বিশেষ করে বর্ষা মৌসুমে, মশার উপদ্রব মাত্রাতিরিক্ত বেড়ে যায়। ডেঙ্গু, ম্যালেরিয়া, জিকা, চিকুনগুনিয়া এই স�� রোগের জন্য দায়ী হচ্ছে বিশেষ কিছু মশার প্রজাতি। বিরক্তিকর উপদ্রবের পাশাপাশি তারা রোগজীবাণু সংক্রামণ করে। এই মশা অনেক সময় মানুষের মৃত্যুর কারণ হতে পারে।

মশার উপদ্রব বাড়ার কারণ

মশার উপদ্রব বাড়ার পেছনে অনেকগুলো কারণ রয়েছে। বিশেষ করে আবহাওয়া ও পরিবেশের পরিবর্তন মশার প্রজননের জন্য উপযুক্ত পরিবেশ তৈরি করে। গ্রীষ্ম ও বর্ষা মৌসুমে তাপমাত্রা ও আর্দ্রতা বৃদ্ধি পায়, যা মশার জীবনচক্রকে ত্বরান্বিত করে। মশার উপদ্রব বৃদ্ধির অন্যতম কারণগুলো হলোঃ 

জলাশয়

জলাশয় মশার প্রজনন ক্ষেত্র হিসেবে পরিচিত। স্বচ্ছ জলাধারে মশা ডিম পাড়ে, যা পরে দ্রুত বেড়ে ওঠে। এই জলাশয়ে জমে থাকা পানি, পাতা ও অন্যান্য জৈব পদার্থ মশার জন্য আদর্শ পরিবেশ তৈরি করে। বর্ষাকালে বৃষ্টির পানি জমে গিয়ে জলাশয়ের সংখ্যা বেড়ে যায়, ফলে মশার উপদ্রবও বৃদ্ধি পায়। অতিরিক্ত জলাশয়, পরিচ্ছন্নতার অভাব এবং কাদা মাটির উপস্থিতি মশার বৃদ্ধি এবং রোগের সংক্রমণকে সহজতর করে। এ কারণে মশার উপদ্রব থেকে বাচতে জলাশয়ের পরিষ্কার পরিচ্ছন্নতা অপরিহার্য।  

আবহাওয়া

মশার উপদ্রব বাড়ার অন্যতম প্রধান কারণ হল পরিবর্তিত আবহাওয়া। বর্ষার মৌসুমে অতিরিক্ত বৃষ্টিপাত মশার প্রজননের জন্য উপযুক্ত পরিবেশ তৈরি করে। উচ্চ তাপমাত্রা এবং আর্দ্রতা মশার বংশবিস্তারে সহায়তা করে। এছাড়া উষ্ণ আবহাওয়ার মধ্যে মশার বংশবৃদ্ধি বৃদ্ধি পায়। তাই, আবহাওয়ার পরিবর্তনের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ��মাদের সচেতনতা বাড়ানো জরুরি।

জীবনযাত্রার পরিবর্তন

জীবনযাত্রার পরিবর্তন মশার উপদ্রব বৃদ্ধির প্রধান কারণ। শহরের দ্রুত নগরায়ন, স্থায়ী জলাধার সৃষ্টি এবং অব্যবস্থাপনা মশার বংশবিস্তারকে উৎসাহিত করে। মানুষের অব্যবস্থাপনা ও পরিচ্ছন্নতার অভাব, যেমন আবর্জনা ফেলে রাখা এবং জল জমে থাকা,যা মশার জন্য আদর্শ পরিবেশ তৈরি করে। এছাড়াও, জলবায়ুর পরিবর্তনের ফলে তাপমাত্রা বৃদ্ধি ও বর্ষা বাড়ার কারণে মশার প্রজনন বৃদ্ধি পায়। এসব কারণে মশার উপদ্রব বাড়ছে, যা মানবস্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ। 

পরিবেশগত পরিবর্তন

বর্তমান সময়ে মশার উপদ্রব বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে পরিবেশগত পরিবর্তনের কারণে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন, তাপমাত্রা বৃদ্ধি এবং বৃষ্টিপাতের অভাব মশার প্রজনন বৃদ্ধিতে সহায়ক হচ্ছে। শহরের বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনার অভাব এবং নোংরা জল জমে থাকা স্থানগুলি মশার বংশবিস্তারের জন্য উপযুক্ত পরিবেশ তৈরি করছে। এছাড়া, বনভূমি ধ্বংস ও নগরায়ণ মশার আবাসস্থল বৃদ্ধি করছে, যা তাদের বিস্তারকে আরো ত্বরান্বিত করছে। এই সব কারণ মিলিয়ে মশার উপদ্রব আমাদের স্বাস্থ্য এবং জীবনযাত্রায় গুরুতর প্রভাব ফেলছে।  

মশা প্রতিরোধক উপকরণের অভাব

মশার উপদ্রব বাড়ার আরো একটি প্রধান কারণ হলো মশা প্রতিরোধক উপকরণের অভাব। শহর ও গ্রামে অনেক পরিবারে মশা তাড়ানোর জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতি, স্প্রে বা মশারি নেই। ফলে মশার উপদ্রব বেড়ে যায়, যা ডেঙ্গু ও চিকুনগুনিয়া মতো রোগের ঝুঁকি বৃদ্ধি করে। মশার বংশবিস্তারে প্রতিরোধক উপকরণের ব্যবহার অত্যন্ত জরুরি। সঠিক সময়ের মধ্যে মশা প্রতিরোধের জন্য কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ না করলে, আমাদের স্বাস্থ্য ও জীবনমানের উপর এর নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়তে পারে।
