Pearliser as highlighter and mixed with my foundation (MakeSense Almond). Here’s today’s look, which includes the custom Strawberry Shortcake blush. I want to start including ‘before’ shots as much as I can, because I think it’s important to be visible in all stages of makeup. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed by all the flawless faces I see as I scroll through Instagram and Facebook, particularly the beauty hashtags. Even though for me, wearing makeup isn’t about living up to conventional beauty standards, I start to compare myself to these beautiful women, and I feel ugly. I want to show you my ‘before’ photos so that you see that I’m just a regular person underneath all this makeup. A regular, blotchy-skinned, round faced person who likes to express creativity through makeup. There’s beauty in my ‘before’ face too, but you (and I, sometimes) have to take off your ‘beauty culture’ coloured glasses to see it, I think. In this post I’ve also included how my makeup looks 9 hours after application. My hair looks different - I went to the salon - but I promise it’s the same day! The light is as similar as I could get it without the natural reflector that is daylight in my lounge room window. I did reapply my Lipsense after my second meal, and I put gloss on just before shooting this. Other than that, no touch ups! It lasted pretty well, especially considering it includes being caught in the rain and a trip to the hairdressers. Let me know if you have questions about any of the products I’m wearing. I’m struggling a bit at the moment, with the idea that I’m buying into a practice rooted in misogyny by spending so much time, energy and money on makeup, and am unwittingly passing this on to others by being a Senegence Distributor. I’m not sure how to resolve those feelings, except by continuing to explore them. Okay, so I know the light is completely different, but these photos are taken 12 hours apart (first photo just now and second photo 8.30 this morning) and both my eyeshadow and my lipstick are still in place. Admittedly, if I was going to be kicking on I would touch up my lipstick - there's a couple of wear patches that are noticeable when I talk, but I reckon that's still pretty good for 12 hours! Lucky for me, I'm not kicking on. No, I'm off to take this makeup off then have an early night, and I'm so happy about it. As promised, I'm wearing Shadowsense today, and here's a smudge video to prove that it is as good as Lipsense! It truly is cream to powder - goes on liquid and needs to be blended with a brush, but once it's on feels as light as a powder. None of the stickiness I've found with other cream eye shadows either! I'm wearing sandstone pearl and moca java (both in the matte version) and the other swatch is Aussie Rose Lipsense.
