DIABOLIK LOVERS CHAOS LINEAGE Vol.3 Orange
Tumblr media
Translation: Upcoming, and as always by courtesy of my buddy @otomehonyaku! Links will be added as soon as they are available ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡
Audio: Here (CD owned by me). Please do not reupload anywhere.
Starring: Ruki Mukami (CV: Takahiro Sakurai), Shin Tsukinami (CV: Shōtarō Morikubo), Ayato Sakamaki (CV: Hikaru Midorikawa), Kanato Sakamaki (CV: Yuki Kaji)
Plot: After being held captive first in the Scarlet mansion and then the Violet mansion, "Eve" has managed escape into the forest, where she encounters Shin, a member of the Orange family. Desperate to get away from her captors and the purported dangers of the forest, "Eve" asks him if he knows of a safe place she can go to. Shin offers to hide her in the Orange mansion, and "Eve" accepts, following him to his home. There, she soon meets his brothers: Ayato, Kanato, and finally Ruki, the eldest and head of the family. It quickly becomes apparent that Shin lied about the mansion being a safe place for the poor girl, who has now, if not precisely jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire, at the very least entered an equally perilous situation as the ones she's just escaped from...
Word to the wise: Use headphones. The noises these guys make as they suck Yui's blood can at times get a bit...intense.
My Thoughts: Aside from being slightly surprised that Shin got more lines and focus than his "brothers" (he's the only one that appears in every track), this CD gave me more or less what I anticipated: Ayato and Kanato being disruptive and rebellious; Shin telling them to "obey Nii-san"; Ruki effortlessly seducing both Yui and me; and, of course, plenty of bloodsucking.
I found the interactions between the Orange "siblings" pretty entertaining. Kanato fighting Ayato off with a bottle of shampoo, of all things, was not something I ever expected from this kind of Drama CD XD. I do feel sorry for Ruki, though – the amount of property damage the others must cause on a daily basis must be a headache to deal with. The fact that these boys feel the need to kick in locked doors rather than, y'know, teleport through them says a lot about their needlessly destructive tendencies. Gotta make a dramatic entrance I suppose? lol.
Getting back to Ruki (my favorite thing to do, tbh), I thoroughly enjoyed his portions of the CD. The scenes where he and Yui interact definitely did not disappoint ⁄(⁄ ⁄ ⁄ω⁄ ⁄ ⁄)⁄. I really appreciate the writers for saving the best Ruki's bloodsucking scene for last; his voice and the sounds he makes when he sucks blood always have me  _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_.

Do people still name their kids Shota? This is a Fanny situation, right, where it's an old name that doesn't get used anymore I hope? Because I'd hate to be that kid
--
IDK if 'Shōtarō' is still all that popular. I have the impression that -taro names are less ubiquitous than they were in the early 20thC, though they're certainly still around. (Shotacon is short for shotaru complex.) Shōta is also a normal name though and seems pretty common in young people.
I think you're overestimating how much most average Japanese people pay attention to porn genres vs. completely quotidian given names.

i think i just missed when you said it so sorry for asking something youve probably already said a long time ago, but where does your “requirements” for what makes a shota come from? did you just make them up or is it like from the creator of the word or…? /genq
Hello there Anny, thank you for the question, I will try to be as exhaustive as possible!
You see, the term "shotacon" is actually short for "Shōtarō complex" and to quote the wiki
Tumblr media
And this is Shotaro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see he is short, with long "radish" legs and shorter arms proportion wise, extremely big eyes and he's wearing shorts! He's the OG shota, the term quite literally is a shortened version of his name and so he is the blueprint for the ones to come! Another important thing to notice is how round he overall is. Round, soft features are all associated with youth, especially with the pre/pubescent characters and are thus important in a design, especially if you want to convey that Moe feeling!
Personally, I'm a bit of a purist, a tad of a stickler for the rules and I dislike when terms get misused, but I also recognise that some characters are very shota-like from the waist up and then not so much from the waist down, so I kind of invented the label Silver Lining Shota to fit those characters specifically. However at times, as I very much like to say (so much that it has become a bit of a catchphrase), a character isn't a shota but simply a femboy. And what is a femboy? Well, basically the natural evolution of a shota! They're taller and with less round features but they keep the moe factor.
An important thing to keep in mind is that, honestly, a lot of authors especially mangakas, will throw numbers on official data books when it comes to height and weight that simply don't make any sense when you look at how they've drawn said characters. That's all the more reason why one has to look out for stuff like proportions, roundness of the features and eye size!
Anyway let me put side by side a kodo, a shota, a femboy and a bishie just to show you the visual differences!
Tumblr media
Like, do you see what I'm talking about? I don't know, to me the differences are very evident but maybe because I've been a shotacon AND a femboy lover since forever so probably my eyes are very trained to spot the differences who knows! Personally I'd never call someone like Astolfo a "shota" and I disagree with the take that "everyone can have a different definiont of categories" because that would mean that I could start calling Ciel Phantomhive a bara because "it's my opinion". That's simply dumb, categories exist and have specific definitions, you can't just say whatever. However as I've previously stated, there are many silver linings in everything and one can stretch a liiittle bit the guidelines now and then!
TLDR I didn't really invent anything I just love being a shota purist (wait for me to release my Shota Spectrum you guys are NOT ready) and you don't have to listen to me ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭

It's very interesting and absurd that you send Leon with those he's not emotionally close to, except for the woman he's in love with. Although it is confirmed that Leon has a crush on Ada and they have sex, you are always in denial!
Chreon is a ship that will never be canon just like Cleon
"Damnation Scriptwriter Shōtarō Suga suggests that Leon and Ada had an off-screen romantic encounter while Resident Evil 5 (2009) was ongoing, more accurate, he did say: "romantic dinner/hotel/motel room night". There was not enough time in Resident Evil: Damnation to explore their relationship as Shōtarō had planned, so he left an "open window" for fans to "interpret it as they want".  He did confirm that it was somewhere around RE5, and that the line was not a reference to any past games."
Helena: "She's more than just a friend, isn't she?"
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FquEz6zaAAAOzJ4?format=jpg&name=large
"You have feelings for her."
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FquEz7baYAAEW5e?format=jpg&name=large
It was confirmed that Chris had feelings for Jill and that he just don’t say it.
A quote from Jun Takeuchi:
“For the Resident Evil series, it’s kind of a rule for the scenario writers that we don’t have these romantic relationships in the games. If Chris were real, and you asked him what the deal was with him and Jill, he would just say ‘Oh, well, she’s my partner, you know?’ but deep down inside you know they probably have some kind of feelings for each other. They just don’t say it.”
So you want me to do stuff with Leon and Ada? I know he likes her, though that is interesting that they probably have sex. I don't deny they don't. I just don't like her. Leon could do so much better and actively asks other women out to dinner.
It also makes sense he would keep chasing after her because she eggs him on, and she is physically attractive. His previous relationship was also confirmed that she used him, so naturally he would chase after what he knows.
And I can ship Leon with whomever I want because I can.

Shōtarō Suga made Aeon canon, but I wish he hadn't died, I think it would have furthered their relationship
Tumblr media
ALSO THO this is why i think we need more women in writing imo (i know the writer/director of re2r and re4r are men, and SURE they've said that they want aeon to be more realistic which is fine if they do it correctly.)
the fact that capcom has repeatedly said like "re is just zombies, fighting and horror" is like SURE but the fact that village was about family and love and did VERY WELL kinda shows that we as an audience desire more than just zombies 😐
we have all these characters and they're doing NOTHING with them
also suga not only made aeon canon he made them FUCK. also rip king, he loved aeon
okay im done thank for coming to my tedtalk bye
