Part One: Behind The Scenes CIRCUS BELLA (https://www.circusbella.org), the fabulous San Francisco-based troupe, recently completed a three-week stay over the holidays right in the middle of downtown San Francisco (East Cut). In a tent! Clowns, acrobats, juggling, aerialists, live music, the whole deal. These are behind-the-scenes photos; performance pics to come in the next post.

A self-assignment, I documented the entire process starting weeks before opening night, from raising the tent, through rehearsals and multiple performances, opening to closing night, plus extensive behind-the-scenes documentation. They let me backstage, a privilege I did not take for granted - that's a private space for any performer. Even though I knew some of the people already and had been around performances before, I was struck - flabbergasted, even - by every single person's intense camaraderie and collaboration while building the tent - a monumental process - and after that, developing and perfecting the show. Everyone pitched in, including performers who helped raise the tent and swept up between shows. Circus culture is an amazingly supportive one, a lesson for us all - me, anyway.

I did it, my friends! I achieved my 105-mile 🚴🏾 ride goal and pedaled 107.5 miles to fight kids' cancer! And with September now officially over, I will give my legs a rest for only some days. LOL You know I love being outside. I will reflect on all I've achieved to support childhood cancer research and save little lives. I raised $1,000! and my fundraising goal was $550! As of right now, together with the rest of the cyclists, we clocked in 3,107,605 miles and raised $10,452, 486 (so far) to give kids with cancer the brighter futures they deserve... And it's all because of YOUR support I was able to be part of an amazing group. To celebrate this year's challenge, Cayden (pictured w/Thank you sign) was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia called acute lymphoblastic leukemia PH+ when he was only 3 years old. He endured two years of chemotherapy treatment, and despite some post-treatment side effects, he's now enjoying life as a normal kid. ❤️ THANK YOU TO MY SUPPORTERS WHO SUPPORTED ME THIS SEPTEMBER! Happy Due Date Mayes! If you came today, we would be each other’s half birthday 🥳 We’re so grateful she came a lil early. After all, if you’re 5 mins early, you’re late, you know? ⏱ Having arrived at the hospital super early in the morning on 12/8, I was initially hoping for a 12/8 baby because those numbers are considered good luck in Chinese culture 🤑 But naturally, she was a lil stubborn and made her entrance 24 hours after getting to the hospital. My mom brought up a good point. She taught me how to add playing blackjack, and a 12/9 birthday can also be good luck because 12+9=21 ♠️🎰🧧 Anyway, more Mayes! 👇🏽 As you can see, Mayes is my little mini me 👯‍♀️ Last night we were blessed with delicious poke by the wonderful @hirocatering 🍣 I missed raw fish so much during the pregnancy, so this was a real treat. This is San Francisco. This is the city I have called home since birth and love more than any other city that I have been to.  Some of my favorite geographical parts of the city are the rolling hills and thick fog. My favorite ‘spots’ in SF include, Dolores Park, Noe Valley, AT&T Park (now Oracle Park) and the Ferry Building.
