One day I walked into the home of @moniquemotilartwork when she was hosting an Open Studio event, I took one look at her intricate assemblage mandalas and walked right up to her and proclaimed us fast friends. And sure enough, we are! Monique was one of the first artists I thought to invite to be a part of the Awakened by the Midnight exhibition. She lived in San Francisco at the time but has since moved to New Orleans. I got to visit her last November to celebrate my birthday.
