Khadine Cadogan, raised in Curepe, was born on February 20th, 1983. She attended the Curepe Fatima R.C. School, Curepe Junior Secondary and later St. Augustine Senior Comprehensive. At the early age of 9 years old, Khadine began taking an interest in playing the steelpan. 

Although her family were not particularly interested in the instrument, Khadine’s love for it could not be ignored. She jokes that ironically, there were multiple evenings her mother would secretly take her to pan practice.  

Khadine Cadogan is the only female groover in Trinidad, and with 19 years of experience, she is recognized within the pan fraternity as the best at what she does. Khadine speaks about how grateful she is for picking up the trade and encourages anyone male or female to get involved in the making of our national instrument. 

She quotes “I would encourage everyone to learn this fabulous piece of craft and I would like to see more ladies get involved in making pan.”
