Rcent updates to P‘s demeanor while playing through til after the Door Guardian boss:
* He gets more and more noisy, huff, grunts, gnashing teeth etc. I even think I caught a „Tse!“ after getting back up after a direct hit
* He is twitchy. I didn‘t really notice it before, but in the beginning he barely moves in idle time, he just stands there. Now he is moving, shifting his weight, shaking out his legion arm, he barely holds still
* Either his posture changed or he’s the tiniest bit taller than before I feel like
* Went from petting the cat to lifting it up and - shaking it slightly? P it’s not gonna rattle it’s not a puppet omg sweetheart XD
* I think he got the tiniest bit more expewssive, cannot say for sure though because angling the camera on him during dialogue is hard
There is so many tiny details, it tells me lot of love and care went into this. Into P! The devs must adore him

Ah. It took me way too long to realize that but as P, we obviously do not bleed - or at least, do not bleed red.
This led me to wondering how a wounded P looks like - like the broken puppets we fight? Broken porcelain skin, limbs missing, dripping oil?
Which then brought me to wonder what would P feel like to the touch? Does he even have skin, or something alike, or is it all porcelain, metal, something hard? Is his hair fluffy, is it real hair, or something else? Is he warm to the touch, or does he run cold? Is there any give when you hug him, like muscles or membran, or is there just a block of wood in your arms?
I really need to ruminate on the fact that he is a puppet some more. And on what that means for the residents of Hotel Krat, because I feel like some of them might forget that from time to time as well.
That, and that P is like. Two to three days old, and all that he is learning - apart from bloodshed, violence, and lies - is whatever you tell him. He is soaking everything he is told up like a sponge, and especially what Gepetto is telling him., never questioning.
Be careful around the impressionable boy-puppet please

Fave tiny details I noticed in Lies of P -
The „Now Lying“ instead of „Now Loading“ screen
The way P gets more and more dirty with every enemey hit
That he gets clean again when standing out in rain long enough but then his shirt gets clingy and see through around the shoulders
The tiny emotes P does, like his head tilt when he is puzzled
I love details okay

Okay so I started Lies of P today (just to see if the Aesthetic TM is really as good as my friend kept telling me).
So. First of, you gotta know that this is my first soulslike (it is one, yes?)
Today I learned I SUCK at soulslike XD
Succesfully died three times to normal enemies in the prologue, and four times to the Parade Master area boss before making it by the skin of my teeth.
I'm just over here laughing my head off over my inability to play this game. P I'm so sorry man, this won't be fun for you
(In my - mild - defense, I just came from FFXVI, where dodging is key, and the dodge window is fairly big. Lies of P seems to have - the slightest input lag when it comes to dodging? It feels like? Or the dodge itself is just really slowly executed. It's like I'm watching P crouch down in slow motion to execute that roll. I have to rewire my brain to hit the block button instead of the dodge button)

Lies of P update the - uh. I forgot the number -
Picture me lying face-first on the ground please.
I used half my lunchbreak to try and beat the Corrupted Parade Master and I got. SO. CLOSE. I actually thought I had beat him because I couldn't see even a sliver of red on his life-bar, and he stumbled and fell and I let my guard drop -
Turns out there WAS a sliver left and he got me full on the face with a punch, ending P's life.
I am so angry and I do not know if it's at me, at the game, or the boss. I will just let it all out after work when I tear this guy apart (hopefully) XD

So. After the King of Puppets, and talking to the Hotel residents, especially Antonia snd her butler, let me see if I got everything sorted out and tell me how close I am to the truth (just say close, or not close, if you please):
The puppets ran on Ergo. Officially, nobody knows what Ergo is. Some talks with Polendina, who claims his Ergo „has awoken“ allowing him to feel love, and Sophia later, I assume Ergo is the „Ego“ of a person, so, their soul.
Meaning, puppets have souls. Souls of, I assume, former people - dead people? - since Ergo also carries memories.
Now, with Romeo behind me, and his little puppet show, I assume P is not just Gepetto‘s son because he created him, but instead his real son, whose soul or Ergo Gepetto took and put in a puppet to bring him back to life. Or, he even killed him to proof it can be done, transferring the soul to a puppet? But that seems more unlikely, so I will stick to the first theory, Gepetto‘s son - I think called Carlo - died and Gepetto brought him back.
Now, that does not explain all of Romeo‘s show, and why Gepetto has us do all this errands for him, so. Following the stage show of the Gepetto-puppet transferring P‘s heart away to another puppet, he…. Hm. He wants Carlo‘s soul to grow strong inside of P, so he can then take it away again and either
A) bring Carlo back fully human
Or B) bring Carlo back in a different, better puppet (thus the faceless puppet in Romeo‘s stageshow)
Oh, right and Romeo - Romeo knew us, or more like, he knew Carlo. As a human I mean. And he wanted to tell P as much, but P could not understand him
Soooooo. That’s my take so far! Anything right? Or all wrong? =D

Lies of P update (real quick one before work)
I'm carrying Gold Coins around with me like an idiot just because I heard some important sidequests require some of them. Otherwise I don't need them - I respeced all I wanted, and never use the Cube - so I just sell those I don't need. Now that made me think of Giangio secretely wanting to absolutely murder me cuz he ain't getting any of these fruits XD
(No I still do not trust him as far as I can throw him. He's. Way too convenient, and his fear of situations does not seem entirely genuine. Like. How did he make it to the Cathedral unscathed? He was not even hiding like Alidoro was, he was out in plain sight, and the place was crawling with carcasses. And he knows WAY too much about stuff that's going on tbh. And he insists on keeping to himself, rather than truly enter the hotel - maybe because Gepetto would have seen him? Or Sophia, Antonia? Not even after the raid on the hotel did he enter.
Nah, he's not trustworthy imo. And he is being sneaky about it, in stark contrast to Gepetto and Alidoro, so I'm even more sure of it.)

P / Pinocchio is making noise now.
Wait that sounds weird XD I mean, he is articulating now, after his hair grew long and we can pet the cat, and the message changed from „Your springs are reacting“ to „You feel warmth“
Now he makes little „hah“ sounds when hitting, or groans when he gets hurt
I SWEAR he did not do that before
(Gepetto is not happy about it, especially after showing him the longer hair. I‘m quite proud, for my part)

Btw I‘m very grateful for all the people giving me tips ore reassuring me on my Lies of P playthrough. This being my first Soulslike, I was almost discouraged at the beginning because I‘m NOT a good gamer and felt like I will never manage to get through this. And the leveling system seemed horribly complex
Now I‘m starting to feel like I might actually do it! XD

Today‘s LoP exploits
Not much honestly! I‘m stuck on Romeo at the moment. I have reached the point where I get through phase one basically unscathed, but Romeo is giving me trouble due to speed, range and ferocity.
With the help of spectre, I get him down to half life okay, but once he heats up his scythe and starts rushing me, I die almost instantly
I‘m testing different builds right now - Trident makes up for the difference in range, but it‘s slow, while fireaxe does not give me a lot of range but speed.
Maybe I will backtrack, level up some more before I try again
(Also my first reaction when Romeo emerged was „ah, it‘s Metal Gear Raiden“ XD)

Lies of P shenanigans of the day (short today, because I struggle with back pain again)
What do you MEAN there is a status ailment which can instantly kill me when applied a certain amount?! Agshdbs I BARELY manage to stay alive on a good playhtrough and with lots of pulse cells, and now you're throwing disruption my way.
And since the game has the odd habit of informing me of newly encountered ailments only AFTER I got hit (and died) and got back to the safe point, I had no idea that I needed to avoid having the ailment bar fill completely.
The shriek I let out was worse than the what the puppets usually do
Alas, yes, as you can read between the lines, I have reached the Estella Opera House. On the way I accidentally completely run past a Mad Clown Mini Boss because I was looking for a good place to fight him, which, um. Was odd? I wasn't aware these guys are skippable XD But I'm almost glad, since the Opera House seems really on a whole new level of difficult and I don't particularly feel like dealing with this guy first
I wonder what my stats should be at at this time. I have, let's see. I think something like
Vitality 32
Vigor 14
Technique 13
Motivity 12
Advance 10

Lies of P Shenanigans -
Guide on the White Lady: „Dash around her to hit her back“
Me: Too slow for that, starts poking her to death with a trident
If it works, it works
(I‘m switching between the Fireaxe and Trident of the Covenant, it works out most of the time)

Gaaaaah. I did it! I beat Lies of P and got the „Rise of P“ ending!
Ow my fingers. Getting those guards in might have hurt me more than the boss XD
(Btw if I start New Game plus now, can I get a different ending or is that locked now and I always get Rise?)
Soooooo. Call me stupid but I‘m not sure I understood everything
So in the end, Gepetto apologizes and calls us „son“. But. Does this mean Carlo is back now, that we ARE Carlo? Or is he acknowledging P as a human voy and his son? I‘m still struggling to understand if the game wants to say „P is Carlo“ or „P is P“.
Given that the ending is called Rise of P, and Gepetto chooses to say „son“ instead of „Carlo“, I will go ahead and say P is his own person, and while he might remember Carlo now, he is not the same person as him. I feel more comfy with that personally given that I saw P „grow“ into a person
Also did I not say Giangio is sus?! I was so right. No that’s not a sad cutie that’s a sneaky conspirator! And, is he immortal, or would he like to be? He calls P brother snd hints at him being immortal (which actually could happen, Puppet given life and all)
Also also. Dorothy?! Are we going into Oz now?! XD What is this, game, you cannot stop there! Is there a DLC, a sequel, both?
I‘m still reeling will be more coherent later I hope XD

Okay this really needs to be under the cut now, though I’m sure Lies of P people will know
Oh Sophia. What did they do to her?
She has never been anything but kind and gentle and now you‘re telling me the whole time she was in such agony? Still found the strength to smile at P like that? Even in the end told him she would stay with him?
Aough. How am I ever going to get the other endings, I cannot leave her like that
Simon you are so VERY dead. Even if I could spare you, I never would. Not after this
