Astorvember Day 13 - SCRY 🔮
Tumblr media
Had a slightly different idea for this originally, and then I saw other people's posts for today and realized that a reflective surface was probably a good idea.
Have a little bit of prose to share too, because I want to do a bit of set-up for tomorrow's piece (which will hopefully wrap up what I think of as his "wanderer" arc).
Story below the cut <3
~
Something is coming. Something is coming something is comingsomethingiscomingsomething—
He looked at his reflection, distorted by the rippling current and his own shaking hands. The shock of the icy water did nothing to stop his racing heart and a throbbing headache made even the dimness of the forest seem glaringly bright. He wanted to curl in on himself, let the world pass him by until the pain finally stopped and Fate found him.
It was so close he could almost taste it, like ash or iron coating the back of his throat. He scooped water to his face, drinking greedily as if it would wash the imagined bitterness away. Any second now. It had to arrive any second now.
Much longer and he was sure he’d pass out.
A crack of sound, in the distance. The rhythm of steady footfalls across leaf mulch and twigs. His head throbbed, he felt queasy. He pulled at his already tangled hair, trying to focus on anything beyond the pain. And then—
Finally. They’re here. He raised his eyes as the footfalls came to a halt, the days of accumulated agony washing off him in a wave of relief. One moment, mind-numbing pain. The next, a sense of relief bordering on euphoria. Fate always finds its way.
He stood, brushing dirt and twigs off his robes, and smiled at the newcomer. In any other circumstances he would have been utterly unremarkable. Brown hair, brown eyes, pointed ears. But his outfit—skintight white shorts and a similarly cut shirt, a red hat, and a banner half as tall as the man himself—as well as his sudden appearance in the dark woods, made him a strange sight indeed. Then again, Astor was sure he looked deranged, so he had little room to judge. The tangle of his hair and too-wide glint of teeth was enough to unnerve the most stalwart of souls. But strangely enough, the newcomer seemed unfazed.
“You there!” The man declared, rummaging in his bag for something. “Are you the one they call Seer?”
An innocuous question, under any other circumstances. One he had gotten used to answering. But this man had found him in the middle of the woods, far from civilization. It had been . . . Astor didn’t know how long it had been since he’d last stopped at a settlement. He had the sudden, distinct sensation of being hunted.
Still . . . this was Fated to happen. Not for the last time, he wished that Fate came with more direct instructions. He decided that caution was almost always a good call. “Perhaps . . . Who wants to know?”
The man had pulled out two carefully folded sheets of paper from his bag, and was holding one up to the light, glancing between it and Astor. He nodded abruptly, shoved the first piece of paper back into his bag, and then handed the second to Astor. “His Royal Highness King Rhoam Bosphoramous Hyrule demands your services at once,” he declared. Then, slightly sheepishly: “There’s more in the letter, but that’s the gist of it.”
Astor stared at him. Another laugh bubbled up in his chest, though this time it was less euphoric and more an exclamation of utter disbelief. “Your King demands my services?” Astor glanced over the letter, worrying the soft paper between his fingers as he did so. The script was angled, elegant, unlike anything he could imagine a king writing. The man probably made someone else write it for him. Astor dropped the letter, let it fall into the damp grass. “Tell him I said no.”
“Our king” and there was an emphasis on the word our that made Astor want to strangle the messenger, old sayings be damned, because he would never bow to another man who wanted to play god. He bit his tongue, hoping the messenger’s sentence would redeem itself. It didn’t. “—has the right to request specialized service from any practicing magician.”
“I am not his show pony. I don’t recognize your king, and quite honestly I find his demands demeaning. Unless . . .” and then he trailed off, because he felt that fishhook-feeling in his chest again, and dammit all he was supposed to play along, wasn’t he? Hyrule. Herod. He was tired of playing by their rules. But it seemed like once again he was trapped in their spiders’ web.
“Unless . . ?” The messenger prompted, finally looking uneasy.
Astor bit back another retort, instead mentally sorting possible responses by level of believability. Finally he settled on, “Unless His Majesty can assure that I will be properly compensated for my time.”
The messenger nodded, tension leeching from his stance. He rifled in his bag again, pulling out a letter that looked nearly identical to the one Astor had dropped. “Always good to have a spare,” the messenger said, tapping his forehead knowingly. “You’ll find details of your employ in here.”

Setting Blurb: Hoppe City
Nestled snugly in the Hanami Planum, Hoppe City is the largest human settlement on the dwarf planet Ceres, and the de facto capital of free market civilization. Everywhere you go, after stepping off the Rags to Riches interplanetary spaceport (and casino resort) the planet's rich mineral wealth rewards those that were the first to claim it. From the many facilities for mining and refining what lies below Ceres' crust to the luxury estates and skyscrapers of those that made it big (never mind the slums in Refoogietown), Hoppe City and Ceres as a whole would reward those that would work for it.
As the inner solar system was being colonized by the three human powers in the late 2300s, ambitious eyes turned towards the asteroid belt and saw only opportunity. It was only a matter of time before the many construction projects in the inner system created a demand for resources that only the Belt could supply. The first ones to seize the Belt would reap the rewards. CorpEmp and the W.C.O.F. would dispatch a few expeditions to the Belt, and a swarm of independent miners would stake their claim in the untapped riches floating between Mars and Jupiter. The largest contributor to the Belt Rush would be the United Markets, and the largest of the U.M. settlers came from the Hoppean subculture.
The U.M. back on Earth was growing too corpocratic and libertine for the more socially conservative Hoppeans, and what available real estate there was was either too crowded for their tastes or would become so at an uncomfortable taste. Several thousand Hoppeans began to pool resources and capital together in the 2350s to settle, mine, and develop a plot of the Cerean surface, with the first families given stewardship over plots purchased by a secondary wave of Hoppeans staying behind to continue financing the colony back on Earth. Each family would be responsible for either mining their plot, providing a service for the other settlers, or develop for future use. Everyone also had to pitch in to buy military equipment for security. No freeloaders, no market failures, and definitely no Imps or Commies. Reserves could join the settlement proper, or pay triple to hitch a ride and disappear into the icy crevices to stead all their lonesome. C.P.C. gangsters were shot on sight.
The 2,500 families of the first and second waves (also known as the First Steaders) ratified the Covenant Charter on September 2nd 2355 in a rented Las Vegas convention center, affirming all families' adherence to the Non-Aggression Principle and describing in great detail what is and isn't Aggression. To help retain a united sense of identity, the founding families would model their colony's culture and memetics after the New England Puritans and the Scottish Covenanters of the 16th and 17th centuries, mixed with the stylings of their own brand of anarcho-capitalism. Three years later the first transport craft would land on the site of what would become Hoppe City.
For the next 500 years, the denizens of Hoppe City laid low mining and developing their part of Ceres and keeping an eye on newcomers to their neck of the Belt. The Hoppeans' large volunteer militia kept their colony and the rest of Ceres out of the Belt Wars in the 2600s. Likeminded groups from the U.M. would arrive and establish communities of their own, eventually adopting the Covenanter model of anarchist society. The rest of the U.M.'s subfactions would arrive to stake their own claims of the dwarf planet, with the Hoppeans giving them a wide berth, and wildly divergent Marketeers (NEVER bring up the incident with the Church of Randian Satanism) were treated like they didn't exist. Most individual miners would try their luck in the mines of Hoppe City, tripling the population just in time for the Human-Crystalline War (2801-2885).
As the Crystalline Aliens had a nasty habit of attacking any significant human presence, Ceres' population evacuated to the many underground mining complexes and rode out the war. Hoppe City's private militias remained on-planet in the event of an attack, but a few volunteered to join the rest of U.M. security forces to drive the aliens out of the Solar System. The aliens never touched Ceres, and because of that refugees would flock to the dwarf planet, tripling the population yet again. Most of the refugee population would be moved to the aforementioned mining complexes, they could either wait until it was safe to be relocated (especially CorpEmp and W.C.O.F. populations, and especially after fighting between the two groups), or try their hand at joining the planet's population. This refugee problem, and the threat of alien invasion, would lead to the expansion of the private security industry on Ceres. Many famous firms today had their beginnings in many volunteers that fought the Human-Crystalline War (against alien or refugee gang). The one group the Hoppeans were really wary of were the execs of the megacorps (MicroBucks, Morgan Industries, etc.) from the U.M. core.
Although they were sequestered in their own territories on Ceres, the Hoppeans didn't want the megacorps to start thinking they could run the dwarf planet like the rest of their assets. The descendants of the Founding Steaders (and a few Founding Steaders themselves who used life extension technologies) met with the megacorp execs, and stated that on no certain terms would Ceres be run like the old FVMEs on Earth. Pre-emptive strikes against acts of aggression were perfectly legal according to Covenant Charter, and it would be a shame if the execs did anything that would be considered aggressive. A few execs got the memo and drank the Hoppean kool-aid, or quickly relocated. Sympathetic megacorp employees would also subvert their employers' memetics with that of the Covenanters, bringing them more in line ideologically with the Hoppeans. By the beginning of the 2900s, Ceres and especially Hoppe City, would become the industrial and economic capital of the United Markets.
With the alien threat removed and their competition suborned, the Hoppeans and Ceres did what they did best: minding their own business and mining. As human settlement expanded into the outer solar system, a few expert miners from Hoppe City went to try their hand at establishing daughter colonies in the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn. An even smaller few went out to stake their claims in the Extrasolar Territories. The Transhuman Wars were the only conflicts of the 31st century that the Hoppeans would get involved due to --DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BRING UP THE TRANSHUMAN WARS OR THE ACTIONS OF HOPPE HEDONICS IN HOPPE CITY - NEVER BRING UP THE TRANSHUMAN WARS - THERE WERE NO CATGIRLS - HOPPE HEDONICS NEVER PRODUCED CATGIRLS - UNDER THE REVISED COVENANT CHARTER OF 3106 ANY MENTION OF CATGIRLS CONSTITUTES AN ACT OF AGGRESSION-- in what would become know as Refoogie Town in the first layer of exhausted mining complexes below the city proper.
By the rise of CorpEmp's 5th ruling Dynasty, Hoppe City is an icy jewel that seems to only shine brighter. Most of Ceres by this point is "governed" (a dirty word in the U.M.) in covenants similar to Hoppe City, and Hoppean Scots has become the lingua franca of the myriad communites in the Asteroid Belt. Ceres has also emerged as the Mecca for developments in brine mining technology. Thousands of fortunes are made, lost, and won back daily in Hoppe City. In spite of all their history and achievements, however, there is one thing. One little frustrating thing that comes to most non-Cereans' minds first when asked to think about Hoppe City...

East of the Sun, West of the Moon
Tumblr media
Hello! As mentioned in the author's note in the link above, I have been more-or-less chronically reading Cooper Howard | The Ghoul/Reader fan-fiction, and have finally decided to bite that damned, silver bullet and write a story of my own.
Of course, this is only the first chapter of many, but I intend on seeing this narrative through to its bittersweet end; as such, reading this grand, epic, and weird adventure, featuring you, a Megaton settler, and the one-and-only Cooper Howard, would mean the absolute world to me... As quoted by the silly, little rad-man himself, 'I do this shit for the love of the game.'
Any and all information about the story (as well as an excerpt) can be found below! <3
Tumblr media
fandom ➳ Fallout (TV 2024), Fallout 3
word count ➳ 5,056
warnings & tags ➳ Cooper Howard | The Ghoul/Reader, Cooper Howard | The Ghoul/You, Graphic Depictions of Violence, Swearing, Alcohol, Slow Burn, Slow Romance, Consensual Sex, Prostitution, Sexual Assault, Fluff and Angst, Angst and Feels, Angst and Tragedy, Public Sex, Oral Sex, Vaginal Sex, Age Difference, Sexual Tension, Poverty, Teasing, Getting to Know Each Other, Ghoul Grinding, The Ghoul is His Own Warning, Nuka Cola Abuse, The Ghoul Acquires a Travelling Companion (follow link for more tags)
summary ➳ Shady Sands. You were told there would be someone waiting for you there. Of course, this was many years ago---far before you'd stumbled across Megaton, a small, dead-end settlement holding zero shame for their new way of life. In 2277, though, your nights are occupied entertaining the patrons of Moriarty's Saloon, constantly striving to earn enough caps to finally plan a safe way---the safest way one could possibly muster in the Wasteland---out of Megaton.
But on one of the many nights you spend downing Nuka Cola as though it were pre-War water, a strange man waltzes into Moriarty's Saloon. Growing up, you always knew mutants were dangerous, but your best friend just so-happens to be one; the bartender who works at the saloon, day in and day out, Gob the Ghoul. So, when you are faced with another one of his kind, clearly tired and parched, you find it hard to break your own promise to yourself: to never become a Ghoul-fucker.
Desperate and in need of caps, however, you find yourself in the most peculiar situation... A way out of Megaton, in lieu of a single, earned cap through your services: A loudmouthed Ghoul, a chilling bounty, and a pre-War device that may yet know the way to Shady Sands.
excerpt ➳ A stern, leather grip had slowly clamped down upon your back, nestling into the bare crevice of your shoulder; it was far tighter than Gob’s hand. Standing, now, on your left, a tall man bearing dusky rags and some of the quirkiest boots you’d seen in a while, brushed up against your opposite shoulder. With his hand still clamped down against your skin, he leaned in beside your face as he looked Gob up and down; twice—no, thrice over.
Then, he spoke with a toothy grin. ‘You the barkeep ‘round here, eczema?’
His voice was like polished leather—which you had only ever heard in the pictures, which Moriarty seldom played around here, anyways—with a Southern twang melded amidst a baritone husk.
It was unique; not an accent commonly heard around Megaton, and certainly not a voice you had heard over any radio frequencies that this shit-hole ever managed to pick up. In other words, you were already a tad intrigued by this odd man, whose hand was still latched onto your skin; and maybe it was a good idea not to wear leather tonight.
But when you looked up at the newcomer, your smirk had faltered faster than a Gulper downing its next meal.
‘Well? You gon’ keep a paying customer from enjoying a whiskey?’ the stranger exclaimed, looking around at the other guests. Fervently, Gob nodded his head—quickly cursing at himself as he began to shake his head like a lunatic. The stranger grinned, now, looking back towards Gob with a slow nod. ‘Neat-o, then. Thanks a shit ton, partner,’ he continued. Then, he tapped one finger against your shoulder with a nod, speaking lower as he addressed you, and you alone. ‘Darlin.’’
Finally, he removed his hand from your person, but instead of taking the seat next to you, like you had assumed would happen, he began to walk around the small room, eyeing every guest—everyone you knew by secret and name—with a curt nod; far more distant than the one he’d given you.
Well, you didn’t really care. Because it was another fucking—
‘Ghoul,’ Gob sputtered out.
Immediately after the stranger had walked away, you and Gob locked eyes with a shared horror; though, yours reflected the tiniest bit of curiosity in them, and Gob could sense it from a mile away. Slowly, he shook his head, mouthing the words ‘No,’ but it was too late. Moriarty had burst through the front door, nearly knocking the rickety thing off its hinges. He slurred something to Lucy as he walked by, but when he plopped down beside you on the only empty barstool, his smirk and swaying had ceased.
‘Fuck’s got you all spooked like a heated kitten, Gob?’ he exclaimed, squinting ahead as he searched your friend’s face for any signs of an answer. ‘You creepin’ out another customer?’ Moriarty was practically sneering at this point, and you were really beginning to wish that stranger could have taken up his attention, instead of poor Gob.
And, well, those prayers were answered pretty fucking fast.
As though the unfamiliar, and only other Ghoul you had ever seen had been listening in on your thoughts, he slowly approached the bar once more; this time, however, he rested against the wooden table, standing at your opposite shoulder. Then, he leaned over the narrow island, looking past you to meet Moriarty’s shocked gaze; with a hoarse chuckle, the stranger nodded back towards Gob with a cheeky grin, peeling and burnt skin creasing with his laughter.
‘This nut job here your boss?’
Once again, you and Gob met eyes with shared frowns. Slowly, Gob moved his gaze towards Moriarty, then back to you, then to the strange Ghoul standing to your right. ‘Maybe,’ he croaked.
The stranger slammed his fist down against the wooden island, nearly driving his leather glove through its cheap contents. ‘Maybe there’s a pretty, little thing seated at my shoulder, and maybe this bird-shit toupee-wearer over here’s your boss, little man! Truthfully, I want to know what takes a gentleman so long to make my drink. I couldn’t care less ‘bout the freaks that run this fine establishment,’ he began, quickly gathering the attention of the entire bar. Even Nova had peeked her head out from the raggy curtains of the room she had been entertaining. ‘But don’t feed me lies, sweetheart. Now, we good here?’
Frantically, Gob began gliding his hands over every damn cup he could get his pale fingers on, knocking glasses over every which way, until he finally found a short glass to pair with the bottle of whiskey he’d been clutching, like his life had depended on it.
Did his life actually depend on that bottle of whiskey?
The stranger watched with his mouth slightly ajar and his chin tilted upwards, as Gob began to pour the other Ghoul his drink.
Oh, shit.
With a hurried whisper, you looked down in horror at the maple liquid running down thick cubes of ice. ‘He meant neat, Gob. Neat whiskey.’ With a rapidly increasing heart rate, you realised Gob hadn’t heard your indistinct correction, so you decided—frantically—to try a different approach. ‘Neat-o!’ you exclaimed, throwing your arms into the air with a forced laugh.
Every goddamn settler in that saloon stared at you, as if you were some sort of radroach apologist, or worse, a Ghoul-fucker.
‘Little lady,’ that sweet, fucking Southern accent drawled—and he was so damn close to your ear, you could feel the sick warmth of his ghoulish breath. ‘You ain’t seen a female raider and a little gal walkin’ through this ticking time-bomb of a shithole, have ya?’ His voice had suddenly dropped a certain octave or two, and that playful tug at his lilt had quickly vanished.
You shook your head once, refusing to look up at the wicked creature at your neck.
‘No? Well, then, I’d best be goin’. Y’all offer whiskey-ta-go? Preferably in one of them Nuka Cola bottles, like this little lady right here,’ the stranger exclaimed, looking around at the rest of the patrons as he grinned wickedly in turn. ‘All I’ve been met with since I strolled into this here’s town, is disappointment. Well, the Enclave must have sucked your titties and drained your cocks dry of the last droplets here called freedom of speech.’ He looked down at you again, and that sneer had slowly settled into more of a grin, than anything. ‘Y’all have yourselves a fine evenin’.’
‘Wait!’ Moriarty shouted, knocking his barstool over. ‘Wait a moment, there. You’re a Ghoul, ain’tcha? Well, it just so-happens that we’re renting rooms for half-off tonight, if you buy a drink… or two. Specifically for Ghouls. Trust me, this deal is worth it! The Wasteland is cold and dry at night, and a good man like yourself shouldn’t have to spend a night in such solitude, when instead, you could be spending it with these fine ladies!’ Moriarty looked around at both you and Nova with a cheeky grin, then stood up to place a gentle hand on the stranger’s worn-leather shoulder. ‘How’s that deal sound to you, good sir?’

This is Davey's mom, Bonnie Duke, affectionately known to some people as Bo or Bonbon. She's *a little* eccentric.
Bonnie has a bit of an obsession with the 60s and 70s, and is a self-styled "raccoon enthusiast".
She's a social worker, and is employed by a not-for-profit organization in the Willow Creek-Newcrest area called SINE (Society for the Integration of Newcomers to Earth) as an alien settlement agent. As such, she assists new arrivals from Sixam to get oriented in their communities, helping them access education, health care, employment opportunities, social programs and other services. She considers herself an expert on Sixamish culture, or at least as knowledgeable as an Earth person can be.
Davey (30) is the oldest of Bonnie's four kids, and he lives with her. The others are all adults as well. Gabriel (28), Scarlett (25) and Abigail (24), are all out on their own, pursuing their individual goals and interests, but they all keep in touch with each other and their mom and older brother.
Bonnie has almost always been a single parent. She was married briefly to Davey and Gabe's dad, but ultimately decided that she and the boys were better off without him, and they subsequently divorced. She had a short relationship with Scarlett's dad, who left before Scarlett was even born. Bonnie is unashamed to confess that she actually has no idea who Abigail's father is, as she had a string of one-night stands during that time; her "early mid-life crisis" as she likes to call it. All she really knows about Abigail's dad is that he's Sixamish. Abi looks like an Earth person, but she's not quite the same as her siblings.
Water sports and cooking are Bonnie's favourite pastimes. That, and training her pet raccoons. She also likes to read and she enjoys woodworking. She's also into thrifting, which she and Davey often do together.
Full Name: Bonnie Jean Duke Nickname(s): Bo, Bonbon Age: 55 Birthday: 13 October Pronouns: she/her Gender Identity: female Sexuality: heterosexual Occupation: social worker Relationship Status: single
((yes… Davey is basically his mom’s clone))

Understanding How IRCC Uses Information from Permanent Residency and International Student Applicants
Tumblr media
Navigating the immigration process in Canada can be daunting, especially when it comes to understanding how Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) uses the information provided by applicants. Whether you’re applying for permanent residency or a study permit, knowing how your data is collected, used, and retained is crucial. This blog post will clarify these processes and help you understand your role in it.
The Role of IRCC
IRCC plays a significant role in managing Canada’s immigration system. To process applications efficiently, the department requires extensive personal information from applicants. This information is essential for two main purposes: making immediate decisions on applications and conducting broader analyses to improve immigration policies and programs.
How Is Your Information Used?
When you apply for immigration or a study permit, your information is used for several key reasons:
Program Eligibility: IRCC assesses whether you qualify for specific immigration or settlement programs. This involves checking your personal details, education, work experience, and other relevant factors.
Admissibility: The department determines if you meet Canada’s legal, health, and security requirements to enter or stay in the country. This ensures that only eligible individuals are allowed to immigrate.
Application Decisions: Your data helps IRCC make informed decisions about visas, permanent residency, and citizenship applications.
Analyzing Newcomer Information
IRCC doesn’t just use your information for immediate decisions; they also analyze it to enhance their programs. This analysis helps in:
Policy Development: By identifying trends and challenges, IRCC can shape policies that align with Canada’s immigration goals.
Program Delivery: Evaluating how programs perform allows IRCC to improve their effectiveness and accessibility for newcomers.
Client Satisfaction: Gathering insights on the newcomer experience helps improve service delivery and support.
Information Collection for Permanent Residency (PR) Applications
Economic PR applicants are skilled individuals selected by IRCC to contribute to Canada’s economy through various immigration programs. Depending on the program, the information collected includes:
Personal Details: Name, date of birth, contact information, and marital status.
Biographical Information: Education, employment history, and family details.
Official Documentation: Passport numbers, criminal record checks, and military service records.
Medical and Biometric Data: Health records, fingerprints, and photographs.
Immigration History: Previous entry/exit records and prior immigration applications to Canada.
This data is used for verifying eligibility and admissibility, reaching application decisions, and maintaining program quality.
Information Collection for International Student Applications
International students applying for study permits also provide a range of personal data, including:
Personal Details: Similar to PR applicants, this includes name, date of birth, and marital status.
Educational Information: Details about the intended study program and educational institution.
Financial Information: Proof of funds to support living and educational expenses.
Biometric Data: Health records, fingerprints, and photographs.
The data collected from international student applicants is utilized for application decisions, fraud detection, and ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
Information Sharing and Retention
IRCC shares select information with various government agencies to assist with application processing and compliance. This includes sharing data with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and provincial immigration authorities.
Retention periods for applicants’ data vary:
Approved PR Applications: Retained for up to 65 years.
Denied Applications: Retained for 5 years if based on security or legal issues.
Biometric Data: Stored for at least 15 years, or until the individual reaches their 100th birthday if specific conditions apply.
How to Access Your Information
Newcomers can obtain detailed updates on their applications by requesting Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes. This internal system tracks all immigration applications and provides insights into your current status.
How to Request GCMS Notes
To request GCMS notes, you need to submit an Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) request online or by mail. Here’s what you need:
Application Number: Essential for tracking your request.
Unique Client Identifier (UCI): Optional but helps expedite processing.
Processing Fee: A nominal fee of $5 CAD is required.
IRCC typically responds to ATIP requests within 30 days, although this can vary based on the complexity of the request.
Finding Help: Immigration Consultants
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, consider seeking assistance from an immigration consultant. Searching for "immigration consultant near me" can lead you to qualified professionals who can guide you through the application process. A Canadian immigration consultant can help you understand the intricacies of your application and ensure you meet all requirements.
Whether you need help with visas or general advice, the best immigration consultants and visa consultancy services can provide the expertise you need. With a visa expert by your side, you’ll have better peace of mind as you navigate the immigration journey.
Conclusion
Understanding how IRCC uses your information is vital for anyone looking to immigrate or study in Canada. By being aware of the processes and knowing how to access your information, you can ensure a smoother experience. And if you need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to an immigration consultant to help you on your journey.
With the right guidance, achieving your immigration goals can become a much more manageable task.

Jobs for New Immigrants in Canada - Challenges for Immigrants
Canada has long been hailed as a welcoming nation for immigrants, yet many newcomers encounter significant hurdles in their job search.
Understanding Newcomers to Canada Jobs challenges is crucial for both immigrants and employers to foster a more inclusive and equitable labor market.
Tumblr media
Barriers to Employment for Immigrants
Several factors contribute to the difficulties faced by immigrants in securing employment in Canada:
Lack of Canadian Experience: Many employers prioritize candidates with Canadian work experience, often overlooking the valuable skills and qualifications immigrants bring from their home countries. This creates a "catch-22" situation, as newcomers struggle to gain the necessary Canadian experience without a job offer.
Foreign Credential Recognition: The process of getting foreign education and work experience recognized in Canada can be complex and time-consuming. Credential assessment and potential additional education or training requirements can delay job searches.
Language Proficiency: While English or French proficiency is often a requirement, achieving a high level of language proficiency takes time and effort. Language barriers can hinder job search efforts and limit employment opportunities.
Cultural Differences: Navigating Canadian workplace culture and expectations can be challenging for newcomers. Understanding business etiquette, communication styles, and networking norms take time and adaptation.
Unfamiliar Job Market: The Canadian job market differs significantly from many other countries. Understanding job search strategies, resume formatting, and interview techniques specific to Canada is essential.
Discrimination and Bias: Unfortunately, immigrants may face discrimination or prejudice based on their nationality, ethnicity, or accent. This can create additional barriers to employment.

Jobs for New Immigrants in Canada is hard to find & Newcomer employment firms play a vital role in assisting immigrants in overcoming these challenges and securing employment. These organizations offer a range of services, including:
Job Search Assistance: Guiding resume writing, cover letter preparation, and interview skills.

This investment, backed by prominent figures in the Canadian private and angel investor community, as well as institutional investors from the United States, represents a significant milestone for the company. With this funding, Beacon aims to expedite the development of its Super App—a comprehensive platform tailored to cater to the unique requirements of Canadian immigrants.
The concept for Beacon originated from the personal experiences of its co-founder, Aditya Mhatre, who encountered numerous challenges upon immigrating to Canada in 2014 with his family.
