so, my beloved friend @fairyysoup, along with being a truly stellar writer, is an accomplished sims artist. and one day, they surprised me with one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen: a replica of the entire mortuary.

since today is their birthday (and cheers to many more, babe! 🖤✨) I wanted to take a minute to highlight a skill they don’t get a lot of recognition for, but they really should!! the amount of detail and thought they put into it melted my entire heart, and this is me holding it up like simba at the beginning of the lion king like “LOOK AT THE BABY”

and last but certainly not least, this is Blair, whom I’ve mentioned before is acting as Final Them in the manuscript version, whom Soup also absolutely nailed.

so like, this in itself is a massive treat and insanely flattering, bc I love any excuse to mentally rotate my scrunklies like rotisserie chickens by gazing on their likenesses, but then Soup was like “hang on you haven’t seen nothing yet”

and then they showed me the fucking House???

Everyone questioning what exactly is the canine form of Sutekh in Doctor Who, but I assumed its just supposed to be a Seth Animal! (With some artistic/CGI liberties of course)

The Seth Animal is the sacred animal of the god Set/Seth/Sutekh but it is not based on any known animal that existed in Egypt at the time, but does take inspiration from many different animals, such as foxes, jackals, and antelopes.

From Wikipedia:

"[It is] ...usually depicted as a slender canid, resembling a greyhound, fennec fox or a jackal, with three distinguishing features: a stiff tail, often forked at the end, which stands straight up or at an angle, whether the animal is sitting, standing, or walking; its ears, also held erect, are usually depicted as squarish or triangular, narrowest at the base and widest at the squarish tops; and a long nose, often with a slight downward curve. It is normally depicted as black, but may also have been reddish."

my buddy @bigtiddythanos asked a while ago about what our OCs’ Top 4 on Letterboxd would be, and I needed something to do with my hands while I finally got around to watching maxxxine last night, so I actually went ahead and made them! and here they are, bc why not!

Necromancer Top 4s:

Maxi -

Candyman (1992), Harold and Maude (1971), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), and yes, Phantom of the Opera (2004), which just narrowly beat out Silence of the Lambs and the Vincent Price House on Haunted Hill. He’ll never say no to a rewatch of the Final Destination series, either — they’re his version of the Fast and the Furious. the way he giggles at some parts is somehow both unsettling and endearing at the same time.

(‘is hex being shirtless relevant’ yes. it’s the only way he watches movies. ‘really?’ ssssh.)

Hex -

El Espinazo del Diablo/The Devil’s Backbone (2001), The Sixth Sense (1999), Peeping Tom (1960), and El Orfanto/The Orphange (2007), which just edged out Talk to Me (2022) and Savageland (2015). He will happily tell you why the latter is deeply underrated if you finally agree to watch it with him, but it will take about an hour after the movie ends for him to finish. (He’s not wrong though, imo 👀)

Rora -

she wore out her VHS of the original Carrie (1976) when she was alive, so that’s at the top of her list. the rest are The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), and Black Swan (2010), which she thankfully only would’ve discovered after she came back to life, otherwise it would’ve been her whole personality in high school. She also would love May (2002) and Excision (2012), both of which might hit a little too close to home in different ways :’D

Seth -

The Wizard of Oz (1939), Tod Browning’s Freaks (1932), Singin’ in the Rain (1952), and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920). He also loves the high drama and spectacle of DeMille’s Cleopatra (1934) and Lang’s Metropolis (1927). If you jokingly ask him if he’s seen any movies in the last century or so, he’ll just blink at you, thinking, then be like “…I thought the 1989 interpretive dance remake of Dr. Caligari was good? :D” or ask if you want to watch the Cabaret with Liza Minelli in it. (He would go absolutely bonkers for the X trilogy, though, relating way too hard with Maxine Minx and Pearl.)

Bonus! Leon -

…he doesn’t know what Letterboxd is. :’D baby doll still has the most minimal version of a smartphone possible. as for movies, he’s happy to watch just about anything with you, but he’s impossible to watch either westerns or vampire movies with, as he usually points out what they’re getting wrong while chewing on what look like some home-made red vines he pulls out of his freezer. (Don’t ask.) He also talks like Lestat is a real person he actually knows and actively has beef with whenever you watch the Tom Cruise ‘90s version of Interview with the Vampire. you can’t tell if he’s doing a bit or not and you’re too afraid to ask, tbh??

anyway! thanks for humoring me! definitely google some of these before you watch them solo, bc they can be pretty scary or pretty bleak, depending or just. Not the Best Version of the Phantom, but Fine :’D

and now, because I’m always fashionably late and it’s been stuck in my head all day —

least to most likely to dance to “Hot to Go”in public

Maxi - does not dance in public unless he has the very specific context of being tipsy enough and crowd cover or you’re being threatened into ballroom dancing by They Who Decide. definitely breaking it down in the embalming room when he thinks no one is watching though, is somehow pretty good at body-rolling in layers of PPE. occasionally accidentally compels a decedent or two on his prep table to lift their arms in vague letter-shapes when he gets too into it. sometimes they get stuck that way and he has to massage their limbs so they’ll actually fit in the casket.

Rora - absolutely snapping clapping and touching her toes in your kitchen with you in the middle of the night, or your bedroom when the two of you are getting ready for an evening out. doesn’t so much in public, but you swear a couple of times you see her miming the letters close to her shoulders when someone’s playing it near her taxidermy booth at the Greymoon farmer’s market. is already working on a little tableaux of mice in some of Chappell Roan’s previous outfits. might be training her army of tiny rodent skeleton spies to surprise you with a flash mob for your birthday. people still like flash mobs, right?

Hex - man is doing the letters while he’s driving with both hands off the wheel, much to your laughing terror. he’s bodyrolling on the street corner while you’re both waiting for the light to change. he’s touching his toes while the two of you are shopping for groceries. where is this man not dancing to Hot to Go? he will take you to the cemetery one night when the fireflies are still everywhere, just to show you he taught a few over-enthusiastic ghosts to do it too. they don’t quite get all the steps, but they’ve got the spir—[gunshot]

Tie: Seth and Leon - The song comes on in a crowded bar on a Friday night (very possibly his own bar, in Leon’s case), and they’re the first one on the floor. Their enthusiasm is downright infectious some might even say… compulsory, and whether people were dancing before or not, they definitely are now. soon everyone in the room is joining in, and they’re still right there at the front, leading the charge. their moves are smooth, their smile is electric (and… suspiciously pointy, just in different places), and you can’t help but dance along. they’re both positively magnetic. even when the playlist rolls into the next song, people stay on the floor and dance along to the new beat, and the next, until the night disappears in a fog of constant motion and an undercurrent of distant, manic laughter. you don’t remember much when you wake up in the morning next to one or the other, except that you had fun… you think. maybe a little too much fun, based on how tired you still feel.

(if you’re with Leon, he’ll guiltily kiss the bite on your neck before he slides from your bed, tiptoeing around the sunbeam splashed across the floor to go turn on your coffee pot. you can’t be too mad about how flushed his skin looks, you think as you watch him go. it makes you happy to see him well-fed. if he got some bonus sips off the crowd, then they just got what they paid for, going to a vampire bar. you two have discussed this part of your relationship in depth, it’s fine. there’s feeding, and then there’s Feeding, and you nourish his soul more than anything else. as much as he argues he doesn’t have one.)

(if you’re with Seth, he’ll coo at you about how tired you look and kiss your temple, mumbling something about how he’s keeping you up too late. you wave him off even as you’re yawning still, and you cuddle him as you start to doze off again. you don’t really notice that his hair somehow seems darker, his eyes brighter, than when he picked you up to go out last night. he does, though, and takes his time admiring himself in your mirror as he absently strokes your hair. he’d feel a little bad taking it out of you like this, if it didn’t make him look so good.)
