honestly, the central appeal of the Fablehaven/GF crossover concept to me is not the significant similarities between the two but rather the fact that it just feels like the 4 of them should be friends.

They would click so fast after an initial suspicion period. They should be obsessing over magical creatures together not existing in entirely separate worlds.
