How Things Should Be by Imogen_LeFay
Kurt Hummel's life is comfortable for a peasant with his work in the kitchen of Earl Anderson. It would be more comfortable, if he could rein in his feelings for the Earl's younger son, Blaine. But Kurt knows, life isn't a fairy tale. And lords marry ladies, they don't fall in love with kitchen servants.
~~~~~
Like the Sun in a Gloomy Hour by nothingbutgoneness
Blaine is a knight of the kingdom of Dalton. Kurt is the personal servant of Prince David Karofsky. This is the story of how they save each other. [Cover art by artistwriterloverfighter. Warning for mentions of non-con. Rated M for both violent and sexual content. Other genres include Adventure (-ish), Angst, Suspense (maybe), and Friendship.
~~~~~
When the Two Collide by skintightsocks
Kurt tries to ignore it, though he usually finds Blaine's embarrassment about these matters comforting and just a little charming. It's part of why he chose Blaine instead of an older, more experienced servant - that, and because of Kurt's hopeless affection for the boy.

Nick & June's Mix tape Vol. 2
With season 2 comes volume 2 of our Nick and June mix and it’s an interesting one. Nick and June fall in love, await the arrival of their new bub, fight off numerous enemies and we learn that true love requires absolute sacrifice.
Tumblr media
Rebel Handmaid Commander
Watching Nick and June fight at the Boston Globe is absolutely mesmerising. These two have been locked up and forced to behave for so long, now they have the freedom to actually argue (amongst other things…. cough cough) it’s like shaking the can and ripping off the lid. This scene is supercharged from the word go. The sex scene here is raw, real and by ordinary standards, it’s seriously graphic. These two are finally taking a deep breath of one another, instead of whispering sweet nothings and secreting themselves away in clandestine corners. June bites Nick, it’s antagonistic, a sign that they’re not going to be playing nice today. She’s still slightly pissed off and she wants no part of the lawn boy bit, so he’d better bring his A game. Well okay then.
Tumblr media
There’s an incredible sense of relief at watching June being able to argue with Nick, the Handmaids hood and its accessories are ashes, and at last after years of being made to be quiet, she’s allowed to actually yell at a man for being an idiot. She’s also not this delicate precious thing in the tower anymore, and Blaine’s finally got the opportunity to have a few choice words of his own. Essentially both of them have grievances and they’re not pulling any punches. It’s clear from June’s new nickname that she’s already earning herself quite a reputation amongst The Eyes as a bit of a trouble maker. As the mother of his child, Nick’s understandably feeling a little antsy about her sticking her neck out so readily for the noose. Given Gilead’s somewhat unforgiving laws, Blaine seems to be a touch vexed that he’s spending a lot of time playing “stubborn or stupid” when it comes to June. But it’s exactly this relentless recklessness that enables her to be the kind of leader, he already sense’s she will become.
Tumblr media
June’s rightfully annoyed that, while yes she has been extricated from the Waterford’s clutches, Nick doesn’t seem to have much of an idea as to what’s next. At this point Nicks still finding his feet with Mayday, no doubt he’s always known where to find them when he needs to, but up until now he’s never needed to. In Gilead you need to think two moves ahead and June’s allegation of Nick wanting “to play the hero” is a crack at just how unprepared he is. There’s a definite dig here at his status in the Waterford household as the resident whipping boy who’s suddenly decided that he wants to level up. As with June transitioning from “not being that kind of person” to our Rebel Handmaid Commander it all takes time. Heroes aren’t born, they’re forged through struggle and battle and Blaine’s not even close to being fully formed yet. It’s not until the end of Season 2, when he finally holds his daughter, that we see him begin this journey and it’s only the end of Season 5 that he truly earns a place by her side as a warrior.
Tumblr media
Blaine’s definitely not thinking straight, he’s a freshly minted baby daddy who’s freaked out and gone against all of his instincts of self-preservation, to help June make a break for the border. June’s no better, she’s all heart, no head here too. Her love for Hannah completely outweighing any reasonable argument that Nick may have for the remotest chance of success. Ultimately his options are limited to letting her go with a gun or without one. Make no mistake, she was always going to get those keys.
Tumblr media
Corinthians
In season 2 we see Blaine cite Corinthians 13:4, a psalm espousing the pure nature of love in front of Fred, Serena and his newly arranged wife, as he looks at June. “Love is patient” according to Corinthians 13:4, in Gilead it has to be, marriage is transactional and love is an inconvenient obstacle to a servant’s higher purpose.
Tumblr media
If you were ever under any illusions that Nick was a “free” man, the whole Eden debacle should clarify things for you nicely. A free man doesn’t have to marry a child bride while the woman he loves and the mother of his child watches. That’s just not a thing. Nicks selection of this psalm is a message to June that’s designed to serve as an assurance amongst all the recent emotional rubble, but he’s also hoping to God that some of its actual meaning will penetrate Fred and Serena’s thick skulls. Unfortunately it’s to no avail, to the Waterford’s Corinthians is simply just pretty words and no message.
Tumblr media
When Nick reads Corinthians, Serena understands exactly who it’s for and promptly sends June to her room…….like that’s actually going to make a difference. Serena’s maneuverings in this arranged marriage and Eden’s ensuing death are an eerie reflection of her forced conception of Holly and the ultimate theft of Nick and June’s dream for a family through the appropriation of their child.
Tumblr media
Eden’s death is a metaphor for the destruction of paradise, her recitation of Corinthians 13:4 just prior to her death brings into sharp relief Gilead’s ruthless annihilation of beauty. Eden’s refusal to apologise for, lie about or relinquish Isaac, speaks loudly of the absolute unselfish sacrifice of true love. Nick may not give a fuck about himself but he loves June entirely and refuses to see her dead, however painful, he resolves to give her up.
Tumblr media
Serena has observed the progression of Nick and June’s relationship and decided enough is enough, it’s now reached threat level 9 and needs to be stopped before it hits critical mass. Corinthians 13:4 speaks of love as something that is earned, treasured, abides through trials of great suffering, heals and humbles. If Serena had any inkling of what this meant, she’d know it was already way too late.
He's the one who got them out.
There’s selfless, and then there’s this next level shit that Nick pulled in season 2 when he smuggles out a bunch of handmaids letters and then credits Luke with getting them out. Okay so maybe not completely incorrect after all Luke and Moira did flood the internet with them. But seriously the statement “got them out” implies some type of serious effort or danger like let’s say a trip across the border with them, rather than a simple post on Insta or Twitter with a few choice hash tags.
Tumblr media
At the very least Nick should get a bit of credit here right? RIGHT? The fact that he DOESN’T take any is absolutely intentional. Nick returned from Canada asking for nothing and giving June everything. It cost him a huge part of himself and the fact that he gave it away so readily was designed to illustrate his pure self-sacrifice for her. This is the moment, right here that’s designed to show that Blaine loves her, like LOVES her, and officially doesn’t care what it costs him.
Tumblr media
The very act of passing these letters to Luke and then crediting Luke with them, is a veiled metaphor for the passing of messages back and forth between June and her family. While ridiculously selfless it’s necessary for Blaine to credit Luke in order to complete the actual construct of the metaphor.
Tumblr media
Blaine is June’s conduit, her messenger, guardian, guide, lover, but with the words “I met your husband” he reminds her and acknowledges that in the ordinary world he will have to relinquish these roles. There are three words contained in this scene that perfectly capture Blaine’s sentiment and they’re heartbreaking in their simplicity: “I should go” he says and as he leaves he tells her he loves her for the last time that season.
Tumblr media
Blaine looks crushed and limps away visibly wounded, June is so overjoyed by his news about Luke and Moira, it’s as if she is blind to his pain. For both of them there is the realisation that not only CAN she leave but she inevitably WILL. It’s not long after we see him arrange for June to leave and for the next three seasons he keeps his distance. This is a crucial moment for Blaine, the letters home and meeting Luke face to face form the basis of his attempted growing separation from her as he tries to do “the right thing”. The only problem is, the more that Blaine sacrifices for her, the more her love for him grows.
I wish I could hold her
No exaggeration, this fucking wrecked me. There are a few moments on THT that choke me up spontaneously and this is one of them. It’s absolutely gutting to see a usually stoic Blaine suddenly dissolve into a puddle of vulnerability, heartache and tenderness.
Tumblr media
Blaine doesn’t often talk about their baby, he doesn’t dare, it’s altogether too much to hope for that they might one day be a family. Here he can’t contain himself, “Our babies so beautiful” he says, his joy over the birth of his new daughter and his love for the mother of his child, spilling out of him. “I wish I could hold her” he says with the heartbreaking revelation that Nick has been stripped of any claim to his own daughter, including the ability to hold her for the first time. Tears well in June’s eyes, her usual sassy cynicism completely melting away in a single heartbeat.
Tumblr media
With the birth of Holly comes the first time we hear Blaine actually mention the possibility of leaving Gilead, for the first time he has something that might make him try. The two of them fantasise about an idyllic escape from the Hell of Gilead. The golden glowing leafy window makes it hard to believe they’re not already standing on a sandy beach beneath lush green trees.
Tumblr media
The Waterford’s window contains a gingko biloba, the most ancient of all trees, a symbol of their lasting love and growing family tree. This is one of those incredible THT moments that will stay with you throughout the seasons, where two parents bond over the birth of their child and dream of a better life together…..in Hawaii. I’m not crying, you’re crying…
Tumblr media
Before I get into our 3rd Nick and June Mix tape, I’ve got a second Lawrence and June Mix. In the future Nick and Lawrence will be getting a separate Mix tape, and Nick, June and Tuello will all be getting their own playlists. See you then.

1698 – England: William Minton, a 19 year old servant, is used as bait to entrap Capt. Edward Rigby, the first homosexual victim of entrapment by the Society for the Reformation of Manners. He was tried for sodomy. These Societies were formed in tower hamlets, London, in 1690, with their primary object being the suppression of bawdy houses and profanity. A network of moral guardians was set up, with four stewards in each ward of the City of London, two for each parish, and a committee, whose business it was to gather the names and addresses of offenders against morality, and to keep minutes of their misdeeds. By 1699 there were nine such societies, and by 1701 there were nearly 20 in London, plus others in the provinces, all corresponding with one another and gathering information and arranging for prosecutions.

1884 – Born: James Elroy Flecker (d.1915); English poet, novelist and playwright. Born in London, and educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, where his father was headmaster, and Uppingham School, he studied at Trinity College, Oxford, and Caius College, Cambridge. While at Oxford he was greatly influenced by the last flowering of the Aesthetic movement there, under John Addington Symonds.
He died of tuberculosis in Davos, Switzerland. His death at the age of thirty was described at the time as "unquestionably the greatest premature loss that English literature has suffered since the death of Keats".
His Collected Poems (1916) were published the year after he died at age 30. His poetry shares one trait in common with that of his contemporary, Rupert Brooke: the sexuality is ambiguous. There is no question, however, that Flecker was Gay. His lover was the classicist J.D. Beazley, one of the world's great authorities on Greek vases.
His most widely known poem is "To A Poet A Thousand Years Hence". The most enduring testimony to his work is perhaps an excerpt from "The Golden Journey to Samarkand" inscribed on the clock tower of the barracks of the British Army's 22nd Special Air Service regiment in Hereford.

1983 – Andrew Hayden-Smith, born Andrew John Smith, is a British actor and television presenter best known for his work with CBBC.
Auditions for popular CBBC children's serial drama Byker Grove were held at his school and he won the part of Ben Carter, making his first appearance in the eighth series of the show in 1995.
Initially just using the name Andrew Smith, he appeared as a guest on Saturday morning CBBC show Live & Kicking with several other characters from the show. Smith soon became a regular guest on the show. This led to appearances on other shows and also in teen-magazines, as well as two pantomime appearances. In 2001 he applied for Equity membership and was accepted under the name Andrew Hayden-Smith (Hayden being another surname in his family), as the name Andrew Smith was already taken.
In 2004, the ex-Byker Grove actor and CBBC presenter Andrew did the unthinkable for a young man on kids' TV - he told the world he was gay. At the risk of being outed by a newspaper, he beat the tabloids to the punch and did an interview with Attitude magazine:
"Coming out is pretty scary. It's bad enough when you're almost certain that the majority of people around you will be totally cool with it. I was 21 and presenting kids TV at the time and was commended for what everyone kept saying was such a brave step."
It did his career no harm, and he's proved an inspiration - and eye candy - for young gay men across the country.
Andrew has since appeared regularly on stage and in Doctor Who. Hayden-Smith appeared in the episodes "Rise of the Cybermen", "The Age of Steel" and "Doomsday" as Jake Simmonds in the 2006 series of Doctor Who. He returned to CBBC having completed the filming, but decided that he wished to concentrate on acting. His final day of presenting was on 7 July 2006, the day before his third and final Doctor Who appearance.

You wanna know why I hate you?!
Tumblr media
Because you’re the worst, closed minded assholes I have ever meet, Through my Grandmother’s memories. You had no reason, no reason at all to be so disgusting and horrible to her! Because of you her physical form is dead and I had to watch her break Grandpa’s heart.
It’s quite clear that you never really loved your son he was just a cute little puppet to you!
Tumblr media
You are a horrible Father to your sons and you dragged one of your sons into your selfish cruel ideals. The way you two looked at my Dad was so horrid that it hurt when I looked at it through his eyes.
You dare treat him so horribly when he couldn’t even fight back or say anything to you! Oh Dad, don’t worry you are no longer in that cage, but I still feel these cold dark memories you had experiencing.
He may have been the one to see it but I will never forget the look in your eyes back then
Tumblr media
You foolish servants should know your place and never tell a Queen how they should or shouldn’t act. Royalty or not you should never separate a mother and child.
If only you had let his mother raise him he wouldn’t have grown to be one of my most mortal enemies.
Poor Baby Blaine, I’m sorry you had to grow up to be one of the people I hate most of all.
As for you I will never let you fuck up mine or Brandon’s kids like you fucked up Blaine!
Tumblr media
Who are you to say which is best for the club. What did you have against Mom? What were you trying to save?
Why were you so upset that you had to take it out on her
Tumblr media
You assholes put my Dad through hell and he has lacked confidence and bravery all throughout his childhood he was so upset with the world that he accidentally hurt mom.
What reason did you have to hate him? His love for books? His friendliness? His need to make friends? What was it?!
Oh Dad, if only I was there I would’ve been your friend and put those bullies through so much hell!
Tumblr media
“Only doing your Job!” Bullshit! I can tell you were having fun scaring and tormenting little girls. It’s clear to me that you are all a bunch of angry abusive people who just wanted to hurt others.
Fuck You! Fuck you all!!!

the half-puppy Lance au ... With Blaine, who's a few years older than Lance himself, and Isolde, who'll do anything to hide it from Leland. Blaine holds his baby brother, in his arms, firm enough so he won't drop and where he can't feel Blaine's trembling fingers---his hair is fluffy, cut croppy and short, his tanned skin is warm and sunny. He has canine-sharp teeth, floppy dog ears, a fluffy tail. He is so small in Blaine's arms.
He's taken away quickly enough. Father doesn't permit discussion of their dead child. Mother is silent. Blaine doesn't talk about him, doesn't look for him---and then, after some time, he convinces himself that it was all a childhood dream. An imaginary friend. He grew up.
But that child was growing up, too. Six years younger than him, he's alive. Although not as much as their husbands, Queens do have some power. Especially when it concerns a matter the king's servants are especially loyal about.
Prince Lance is alive.
Isolde is the one hiding him, at first, not sure if she was cursed or if animal parts just run rarely in her family. She places hoods over his head and, with how much Leland travels and leaves them, it's easy to keep it. to isolate baby Lance, keeping him confined to his bedroom and to a select few maids shed trusted with her own life.
But Lance isn't a quiet child. He kicks and he whines and he finds bursts of energy that can't be pushed down. He's a sociable one, one with bouncy feets and a wagging tail. He wants to talk to people. He wants to laugh, and the jokes in his picture books have gotten a little stale. He needs people, and he's rarely ever seen outside his room. The cellar, the hidden basement, is painted a light blue. He imagines that's the color of the sky.
Lance is five, and he is so, so, so bored. Like, really bored. There's only so many times he can talk out loud to himself and pretend he's having a real, actual conversation.
So... For once, he sneaks out. He's five but he's watched his mama--mama wolf, he thinks of her--open the lock multiple times, after visiting him. Tucking him into bed most nights. He finds his way out of the basement, racing up the stairs and pounding each floor with his socks. His ear twitches in curiosity as he travels the lands he's never seen.
A part of him is scared, so scared. He doesn't know where he is and what Mama'll think if she finds out. He smells a polish of some kind, and then-- a familiar scent. He's drawn to it immediately.
(After all, a dog never forgets their pack.)
He opens the door, perched on his heels, twisting the knob.
He finds a lonely eleven-year-old boy. He's playing pretty songs on this glossy-black thing he doesn't know the name of.
Lance, brave as ever, walks up to him and then, suddenly, he plops down onto the floor and watches as the boy startles. "Who- who- who are you?!" He gasps.
Despite how much he wants to be, he's not very good at actual conversation. Sure, he's talked to himself plenty, those out loud ramblings as he played with himself, but the only communication he had was with the nice ladies who came to him, the butler who taught him not to chew with his mouth open, and his mama.
...This is his brother.
Family.
Pack.
Lance jumps onto the long, wooden stool his brother was sitting on and curls up into his chest. Brother, he can tell, his nose twitching. His tail snaps back and forth uncontrollably. Brother, brother- Blaine.
His brother pulls back at him, like he's trying to push Lance off, which is really mean, and then, he utterly freezes.
"...Lance," he starts.
Lance nods enthusiastically. Yeah!!, it's me, bro!! He nearly says. "Lance," he says. But Blaine still looks at him weirdly.
He hugs Lance, though. That's what matters. Deep, fundamental love settles in Lance's heart, it's loyal and absolutely consuming, the kind he feels for his mama and all the people who take care of him. All his stuffed animals he's taken as friends.
(he's never asked them If they think he's cool. He hopes so.)
After a while, Blaine releases him. Lance is met with immediate yearning to be back in his brother's hug, back with his family. But he's let go. "Go back," Blaine commands, his voice sounds like it's coming from a raw, torn throat.
His brother doesn't look like he knows it's Lance. His eyes look confused.
A pout tugs at Lance's lips. He follows his brother's orders, though. It feels right to.
The next day, neither Blaine nor Mama came to see him. And then-- there's this pain he feels. His heart hurts.
Missy June gives him his waffles and, with a wary, scolding glance to him, she ruffles his hair as she says, "you've caused a lot of trouble, Mister."
"Mama...?" He questions, feeling guilt swirl his heart. he doesn't understand it, but he knows he's done bad.
she confirms clippy, "and the crown prince."
"I'm sorry," he says, something lodged in his throat. He cuts up his waffles with the red-plastic butter knife. The butter'd already spread in the square crevices. But Missy June can't accept it. She's not Mama.
The next hour is bad. Really, really bad.
Lance senses an argument between the two people he cares most about. He whines into his pillow, sad eyes going big and glassy. He paws at one of his many plushies, drawing it closer to him.
Then, there's a lightness that spreads within him, a pounding in his heart. He doesn't know what, but he knows it's something.
There's a knock. The door opens without a key.
"We'll have to get that replaced," he hears a woman's voice say.
It's open.
His brother enters, determination glowing in his red eyes. His Mama's right behind him. They're both not smiling- their faces are too tight and too focused- but Lance is.
Lance is grinning, and his tail is wagging so so much.

My Hamilton Review
So I had the ability to go see Hamilton in Dallas recently and oh god, it was lovely! Everyone was wonderful and a few interesting takes in this production really stood out to me in the most lovely ways!
The cast I saw was:
Hamilton- Blaine Alden Krauss
Burr- Deon'te Goodman
Eliza- Kendyl Sayuri Yokoyama
Angelica- Lencia Kebede
Peggy/Maria- Milika Cheree
Lafayette/Jefferson- Jared Howelton
Laurens/Phillip- Tyler Fauntleroy
Mulligan/Madison-Eddie Ortega
Washington-Carvens Lissaint
King George-Paul Louis Lessard
HIGHLIGHTS!:
Okay, right out the gate, a lot of the cast had more R&B voices, including Hamilton and I genuinely loved this. Washington and Angelica had the most beautiful control when it came to their voices and it was just gorgeous to hear them every time they were singing. And Lissaint as Washington had some booming growl to his voice that just absolutely grabbed and held onto your focus during Right Hand Man and just the most perfect soul like riffs during History Has Its Eyes On You and of course One Last Time.
The biggest differences in character portrayal were Hamilton and Burr, but I really liked these takes.
Krauss played Hamilton as angry. And I don't mean like quick to anger, but really has angry moments with everyone in his life, including anger towards Eliza when she explains she wrote to Washington that she was pregnant but not Alexander. But it also created some beautiful 'calm down' moments as well. When Washington calls him back, he plays Alexander as hesitant to leave Eliza while she's pregnant, even bends down to kiss her belly before he leaves. Just a beautiful touch. He played young, scrappy, playful Hamilton so well, I wondered if he'd sell the older version in Act 2 and he really did, he slides into it slowly. Makes his voice quieter, more gravelly as the descent starts and it's just so beautiful the way he progresses.
Goodman plays Burr as reserved, but you can feel this constantly simmering resentment towards Hamilton the whole way. This is less charismatic than Leslie plays him, but again, it works for Goodman's portrayal. He still gets loud during the right parts, goes full tilt during The Room Where It Happens . But his anger, his emotions are cagey, like you are waiting for the last straw to break the camels back and its goooooooood when he finally snaps in Obedient Servant. He makes you wait for that moment all musical and it delivers in the last two confrontation songs.
Howelton also has a slightly different portrayal of Jefferson. He has the same physicality and charm that Daveed has, but he has this wonderful deep gravel to his voice that made him sound older, and he leaned more into the limp in What'd I Miss? Daveed always seemed like his Jefferson was around the same age as Hamilton, but Howelton acts and sounds like he is the appropriate decade older and it really works, I constantly thought he was looking at Alexander like a yappy puppy he had to deal with and I really loved it.
Lessard as King George chewed on every song and scene he was in and I giggled at parts of the songs I've never reacted to before. XD He was a delight and we all cheered every time he returned to stage. I would love to see this man as the King every time if I could!
Goofy Notes:
EVERYONE besides Washington and Angelica are shorter than Hamilton in this production. I about wheezed when Jefferson and Hamilton square up in the first Cabinet Battle and Jefferson had to crane his neck to look up at a fucking smirking Hamilton, who had to look down at him. It was like a hilarious au reality and it made me giggle every time they stood close enough to notice. Eliza also only came to Hamilton's shoulder and he had to bend fully at the waist to kiss or hug her, but that man dipped her like a fairy tale prince to kiss her in Helpless. I bought that man loved her!
Stage Direction Differences:
The most differences in stage direction all happen in Take A Break, and I ate up this entire song because it was so different. It's all about the same till we get to the first 'take a break'. Hamilton buries the letter from Angelica. Not just covers it, he pulls various papers and opens a book to start writing in ontop of it, boy knows he is doing wrong in the letters. He's adorably affectionate with Phillip, softly affectionate with Eliza's plea for him to go with them.
Then Angelica shows up, and it's not the soft/nervous 'hi' Lin does. It's a giddy 'hiiii' and arms spread wide with 'gimme' hand gestures before Angelica even gets to him, wraps her up in his arms, etc. The back and forth between Eliza, Angelica and Alexander is very playful after that as well. During the 'tell this man/tell my wife' exchange, they stage Angelica in between Eliza and Alexander, having the married couple do a playful game of telephone with the eldest Schuyler. Alexander even taps Angelica on the shoulder before the 'Angelica tell my wife' line. It's fun and dangerous. Another change is how Alexander responds to the sisters making their final plea for him to go with them. Lin has Alexander panic pull away from Angelica first. Krauss lets that anger/frustration show here instead. He snaps at them, emphasizing the losing his job line here and storms away. I really loved this scene. It boths leans heavy into the playful family and the emotional affair between Angelica and Alexander.
I might have thrown in my lot for some Lucky Seats to see this cast again before they leave...no shame!

On June 7th, we venerate Elevated Ancestor Mother Julia Greeley on the 105th anniversary of her passing 🕊
Tumblr media
Affectionately known as Denver’s Angel of Charity, Mother Julia is a Servant of God & is the Patron of Black Catholics, Firefighters, Children, & the Poor/Homeless.
Mother Julia was born enslaved in Hannibal, Missouri sometime between 1833 -1848. She endured hellish treatment, even as a young child beneath her mother's skirts. During one fateful event, in particular, she was stricken by the whip that the slave master used while beating her mother; permanently damaging her right eye. Decades passed before she became among the first "freeman" in the state following the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. A young woman now, Mother Julia subsequently earned her living by serving White families throughout Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico —though primarily in the Denver area. It was her work with the family of Colorado’s first territorial governor that brought her to Denver in 1878.
Two years later, she worked odd jobs around the city until she came upon the steps of the Sacred Heart Parish of Denver, where she was conditionally baptized into the Catholic Church - since she hadn't known if she'd ever been baptized before. She became an enthusiastic parishioner, a daily communicant, & became an active member of the Secular Franciscan Order in 1901. The Jesuit priests at her parish recognized her as the most fervent promoter of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that they'd ever witnessed.
She was often seen wearing a floppy hat, oversized shoes, & dabbing her injured right eye with a handkerchief while pulling her red wagon of goods to deliver to the poor & homeless of the city. She'd often do this at night, knowing that some of the poor White families would be embarrassed to be seen receiving charity from her, a Black woman. Whatever she did not need for herself, she gave to the poor. When she had nothing more to give, she begged for food, supplies, & clothing for the needy.
She had a particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and would deliver pictures & pamphlets depicting it each month to firefighters throughout the city of Denver. As a daily communicant, Mother Julia also had a rich devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin. She'd recite prayers even while working outside of the parish. She did so until the day of her death. Mother Julia died on June 7, 1918 — ironically on the day of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, around 80 years old.
After which, her body lay in state for 5hrs in a funeral that drew hundreds throughout the city to pay their respects to the woman who fed, clothed, & suported them in the dark for years on end.
Mother Julia was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Catholic Church finally granted the request from many for her to be considered for canonizatio in 2016.
As part of the Cause for Canonization, her body was transferred to Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in 2017. Her remains were placed in a funerary box made of exotic red heart wood near the altar of the Sacred Heart in the northwest corner of the sanctuary, which will later be encapsulated in a sarcophagus made of Caralla marble (the same stone used by Michaelangelo in his statues). She is one of 6 Afrikan descendants in the U.S. to have open canonization causes with the Catholic Church. Currently, she remains a Servant of God.
In 2012, Catholic Priest, Father Blain Burkey authored a book entitled, “In Secret Service of the Sacred Heart: The Life and Virtues of Julia Greeley,” which later was adapted as a documentary film.
" My communion is my breakfast " - Mother Julia to the priests of her parish.
We pour libations & give her 💐 today as we celebrate her for her service to the city of Denver & for her patronage of all Black Catholics, firefighters, children & the homeless communities whom she served.
Offering suggestions: red wine, bread, catholic Bible, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, parish of denver badge, & little red wagons.

Kiss prompt 23 or ten or both if you feel so inclined 😁
Finally here! These two are a continuation to this one.
10. …desperately
They don’t mention it, but that night Blaine’s touch is needier than ever, Kurt’s hands shakier than before as they undress each other. They barely speak at all as they let their hands wander in the dim light of Blaine’s bedroom, the world cut away from them by thick curtains in front of the window. It’s like all the world is in this room, ends to these stone walls, and no one else exists but them and their need for each other.
Kurt has not made any promises or decisions yet and Blaine is getting married tomorrow. The ceremony begins at noon. It feels like the clock is ticking away too loudly, every second one second closer to doom. They have 14 hours before Blaine walks down the aisle. Kurt imagines he’ll get to spend at least nine of those hours with Blaine, in his arms, together as close as they can be. He has to sneak away in the morning, though, before the servants come to help Blaine get ready.
Still, they have these nine hours before that. They both need to make the most of it. They both need to be as close to the other as humanly possible. After they shed their layers, they step together and hold on. It’s a strange suspension – time seems to go too fast yet stay still at the same time because all Kurt knows is Blaine’s fervent touch.
They fall to bed and without a second’s hesitation Blaine pulls Kurt on top. He spreads his legs and Kurt falls in between. Their eyes lock for a moment and it’s almost too much to see the pure need and longing in Blaine’s golden eyes. Kurt swallows down the tears that threaten to rise to his eyes. Blaine’s hands come up to frame his face and caress his cheeks for a moment before Blaine pulls him down and kisses him. It’s deep and dirty from the start. Blaine holds on to Kurt’s face as if he’s drowning and it’s the only thing he can hold on to as he bites at Kurt’s lips in his desperation.
This might very well be their last night together, so Kurt doesn’t mind if it hurts a little.
23. …in relief
The huge room is full of people. It seems like the whole city is there to witness the royal wedding. Blaine looks very handsome in his finest clothes, the royal red on black, his hair parted and to the side. There’s a calm mask of a smile on his face, but his eyes are nervous. Wedding jitters, someone whispered earlier. Nervous about the audience, guessed another. Kurt wanted to sigh at the words around him but refrained from making a sound. He shouldn’t listen to the conversations going on around him and his dad, but he needs to focus on something, or he will vibrate out of his skin with his own nerves. His dad has been giving him odd looks the whole morning, but Kurt has ignored them. He will start crying if he tells his dad what he’s about to do, and tears are not a look he wants to sport in front of the whole city and his lover.
The bride, a pretty, young woman in huge white dress that’s more frill than anything else, looks like this is her dream day. She’s smiling and practically radiating as she walks down the aisle towards Blaine and Kurt is certain she has no idea who Blaine really is and how miserable they both will be is this wedding happens. Neither of them will have the life they want. Kurt wonders if Blaine has just put on his charming front when he has met with her before. She looks way too happy to know the truth about Blaine – too happy to know this is a marriage of convenience and nothing else. She looks at Blaine like he hung the moon as they clutch hands once she gets to the altar.
The priest starts droning on and Kurt falls into his thoughts, staring at the back of the man sitting in front of him. He fidgets with his hands and keeps his breathing measured. He has never been this scared in his life, not even when he was eight years old, and his mother was dying. He has no idea what will happen and how his life will turn out in just minutes. His mind is finally made up, though. He knew that he only had one option this morning when he snuck out of Blaine’s chambers before dawn, kissing him goodbye and telling him to be brave.
“… speak now, or forever hold their peace,” says the priest, and Kurt’s moment has come.
He stands up and an alarmed noise goes through the crowd.
“Kurt, what are you doing?” his dad asks, but Kurt doesn’t answer. He steps away from the bench and on the aisle, feeling hundreds of eyes on his skin.
“I object,” Kurt says loudly, projecting so his voice rings clearly in the vast space and reaches every last pair of ears. “I object to this marriage because the prince will never be happy married to a woman.”
Blaine is staring at him as he walks closer. His face has lost its mask, and all his emotions are right there for everyone to see: he looks happy, relieved, and more than a little dazed. He lets go of his bride and starts down the aisle towards Kurt, as if they were the only people there, not caring about the city watching. His aunt stands up from her spot in the front and walks at a brisk pace after him, but Blaine’s stride is lengthening with every step he takes until he’s almost running.
He reaches Kurt, and Kurt opens his arms without hesitation. This is their truth, this is who they both are despite what June Dolloway or the world wants them to be. Blaine doesn’t hesitate either as he steps on his tiptoes to kiss Kurt full on the lips in front of everyone. He sucks on Kurt’s lip like he never wants to let go, melting against Kurt. Kurt holds him up, gathers him close and kisses back with the same amount of relief. The truth is out, there’s nothing June Dolloway can do about it, she can’t try to hide Blaine anymore, no matter what happens next. They are together, they have told the world. No more hiding, no more fear.
Their fate is out of their hands now, but they have shown who they are and who they want to be with.

On Frederick VI's Childhood.
(I will start with a quick note that I'm writing about him before his regency began in 1784.)
The start of Fredericks's Life was rough, and for at least two years of his life, he was raised in a method that in the 21st century would be considered neglect, if not child abuse. However, it's also believed to have created his notable gruff, hardened, and stubborn personality.
He was born to King Christian VII and Queen Caroline Mathilde in 1768. Both were under 20 years old at the time, being 19 and 16 respectively. Christian VII was so uninterested in his queen that his aides had to step in in order for there to be an heir. That being said, before her affair, she was a relatively doting mother to the then Crown Prince Frederick.
Things did change when he was about 2 years old. Struensee, Physician to the mentally ill king and the lover of the queen (possible father of the Crown Prince's sister) rose to power and became the de facto ruler of the country from the years 1770 to 1772, when Frederick was 2-4 years old.
Both Struensee and the Queen believed Frederick to be weak, so his "education" was relatively harsh. He was raised in Hirschholm Palace, and the way he was brought up, based on Rosseau's work, Émile, ou De l’éducation, was neglectful and abusive for him and his companion, a commoner boy named Carl. The boys were treated equally and left to their own devices, and servants were not allowed to help or even speak to them. This meant that they had to deal with disputes on their own. It was to the point where the boys had to help each other dress and undress.
The crown prince could only bathe in Ice baths, and eat cold fruit, bread, milk, rice, and potatoes. They weren't given candles, even in the short winters, and their rooms were left unheated. They were also forced to go barefoot and wear thin clothing; They were also given thin blankets, year around. It has been said that the Crown Prince was cold to the point where he had chill blains.
This isn't even the worst of it. Both boys never knew when they were going to eat, and the Crown prince, who had difficulties walking up staircases, was forced to practice by having a set of stairs built in the boys' room, where they would put his food atop it, and he had to climb up them to eat. He was not helped when he fell down said stairs.
This child-rearing method likely gave him rickets, stunted his growth, and made it so could not speak properly for his age. But it was effective. Struensee and the Queen wanted a tougher crown prince, and they got it; the treatment made the 4-year-old crown prince a hard and merciless child. (I will say this does calm a little later in life, as he was kind to his people and family.)
Fortunately for the little crown prince, in 1772, Struensee was accused of an assortment of crimes and beheaded. The Queen was not safe either, being exiled to the city of Celle. The dowager queen, Frederick's step-grandmother took over with her son (Frederick's half-uncle) and replaced Struensee. This led to yet another life change for the young crown prince. Despite having a terrible relationship with the dowager queen, who wanted her biological son on the throne, he was still treated much better than before.
For about a year and a half, Frederick had a nanny named Margrethe Numsen, who cared for him. He was greatly fond of her, going so far as to call her Mutter. I've found multiple reasons for her quick departure from Fredericks's life; It varies from her losing the favor of the dowager queen to those in charge believing the crown prince is best taught by men.
This then led to the boy being put under the care of a handful of men, the most notable being his Chamberlain, Johan Bülow. Bülow not only took care of him but even went so far as to secretly teach him foreign languages. He also slept next to the prince to watch over him and often saw his frequent nightmares and nightly anxiety attacks. He also established a small vegetable garden at Fredensborg that he and Frederick took care of.
Generally speaking, it is said that he was still clumsy with the stairs, and often got into fights with playmates, which led to him being isolated from people his age. He had a preference for war toys and disliked reading, only ever doing so when he was forced to. It is also said that the Crown prince was not intellectually gifted, but spoke like a grown man before he was of confirmation age.

bloodborne asks : 1, 11, 19 (besides Gehrman), 30, 50 !!
Ask game from here.
Favorite boss fight
Hm good question as well XD (I'm bad at choice I love many bosses!) But my favorite is of course Lady Maria. As in the boss fight. I need to redo her for sure but I always very enjoy the most fight. It's like a dance I love it! it's hard but not too hard as well. It's impressive, frightening and beautiful all at once.
11. If stats weren't a thing, what would you wear?
Well except when I need to go in the poison swamp or fight the winter lanterns, fight a very strong boss or try a new outfit just for the drip or references I do stay all the time with the same clothes.
That mean this : +the hat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
very gender I know I love it. Wish it was real I would buy it x)
19. Favorite Old Hunter?
Besides Gehrman? Well Lady Maria obliviously duh.
😂 Ok i am joking let's not count her either. And let's not take Ludwig into account too. Well this 3 gone I would say hm Archibald and Izzy perhaps? Gratia as well. (80% of the shit I made about them are basically headcanons but it's not like 98% of the stuff I made up for Paarl jfeznfbf) + I really like Valtr, Henryk & co of course! (a bit everyone lol). But if we count like the nightmare hunters from that era my fav is literally an OC who became the beast possess soul 😭
30. Is there anything you always do in your playthroughs, even if it's not necessary to beat the game?
Hm get at least 3 Umbilical cord at least XD. and do all the bosses + try to have all the set & weapons! (items, runes etc Well the expensive weapons & outfits not all the time for sure.)
50. Tell me about your hunters!
Well I have Lucen Venator of course! (hunter on the pic above!) And I made a 2nd one for a new playthrough, I think I named her Claire bc I didn't want just a feminized version of Lucen's name lol but she's an equivalent of him for sure. One day I would need to make a third hunters for sure.
I made a couple of posts about Lucen & art + my friends did amazing drawings of him 🥺 (from Katy, Chess, Crow & Odds)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(He looks way too much like me smt help. I need to change my icon to the small chibi one day)
SO hm what can I say... ah yeah let's go with the oblivious for me :
In my main headcanon (fic verse) He was born the night MP was summon, but far from Yharnam.
His parents came from Yharnam but flew the city
He's related to Cainhurst a bit. (His mom (Louise) & uncle are from a servant family). The amount of her stress this poor woman had to go through during her pregnancy was quite insane too.
He have an uncle (Lupin) who still live in Yharnam, an old hunter that he don't have news off since some times.
His grandpa on his father side (Blaine/Blair) was an old hunter as well, he's an old friend of Gehrman.
Gehrman literally babysit Lucen's dad (Emil) when he was a baby and save him from being crucified decades later.
Somehow Bloody Crow (Voron) was around when he was born lol. Before he return to Yharnam. Do what you want with all those crazy infos.
Either he became the next crow hunter or baby squid great one.
On my first playthrough I choose "last survivor" but I'm not very settle on what happened exactly besides he got scars on his face for it.
He's a kind individual most of the time except when it's time to kick ass if that make sense.

Thanks for the tag, @forabeatofadrum
Here's a bit from that fantasy fic I had mentioned I was looking at in an earlier post.
For anyone curious, the basic story is about a mysterious tinker and a street urchin - both of them yearning for a place to belong - all set in a fantasy AU.
cc: @annepi-blog, @datshitrandom
"Yes?” the stranger inquired, kneeling to speak with the strange, dirty young man who had stopped him.  The poor thing reminded him of an old beggar.  A gaunt, heavily angled face peered up at him from underneath a mat of dark, tangled curly hair. Purplish circles loomed under his eyes.  The street urchin looked exhausted as he knelt there, crouched in the mud, wrapped in a worn, shapeless shift with a threadbare cloak covering his shoulders.
"Do you need a servant, Master?” implored Blaine, looking up into the mysterious man’s blue-green eyes.
Just going to say, if anyone who sees this is interested, come on and jump in, the after is fine. I think I've seen a lot of folks already tagged on this.

Blaine didn't show it on his face, but he loved talking to Frederick.
With everyone else, he felt like he was walking on eggshells. That he had to be perfect to impress them. But not Frederick.
With Frederick, he was in control.
If Blaine made a mistake, than no he didn't. Frederick made a mistake, and now Blaine is paying for it.
If Frederick made a mistake, than it was all his fault, and certainly no fault of Blaine's, no matter what it was. Just another excuse to scoff in his direction, call him something mean or beat him, and watch his control seep just that slight bit deeper into Frederick's psyche.
Of course, when he heard of this CPC, or whatever they called themselves, he had been justifiably concerned. They advocated that everyone was special and deserving of love. It was hopelessly naive. Blaine had to stop himself from laughing when he first heard it. Frederick seemed to have put some trust into them.
But, apparently, they knew how much Blaine loved his brother, so they encouraged Frederick to go back. They had called Frederick dramatic, like he was, and told him that they knew Blaine was lying because of that show he put on as an example of what happens when you mess with the Plaid kingdom.
Blaine was glad. Blaine loved his brother. He hated his brother's books, and his hatred for fighting, and the way his eyes light up like the god damn sun whenever you asked him about his stupid books, but he loved his brother all the same. Blaine loved watching the expressions of the boy when he called Frederick something cruel. Frederick did deserve it after all. He was a worthless loser, made to get stomped on by the actually important people.
And Blaine wouldn't have it any other way.
With this CPC encouraging him, and Gwendolyn being cursed, why, Frederick was an emotional mess. Putty in Blaine's claws, to remold into the obedient servant that Blaine dreams of.
Blaine loved his pathetic, worthless, dorky, loser brother, and he wasn't planning on letting him go. Not now, not ever.

The ten plagues of Egypt
#1 Turning water to blood death of the fish
Exodus 7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.7:21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
#2 Frogs
Exodus 8:4 And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.
#3 Lice
Exodus 8:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt
#4 flies
Exodus 8:24 And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.
#5 Livestock death
Exodus 9:6 And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
#6 Boils
Exodus 9:10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
#7 Hail mingled with fire
Exodus 9:22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.9:23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.9:24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
#8 Locust
Exodus 10:12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.
#9 Darkness
Exodus 10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
#10  Death of firstborn
Exodus 11:4 And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.

ok. Hear Me Out.
A cliche au, where Gwen is still best girl BUT everything is different, everything is at face value and There Is No Nuance. none.
Frederick is a jerkass that only cares about looks. Maria and Lorena are mean and catty and spoiled rotten, bullying their youngest sister because Evilz and She's Sooooooo Ugly. Jack favorites them over Gwen. Jamie has always been seen are better than Gwen and is just a snotty food critic whos ashamed of Gwen. Blaine and Lance are just bullies who have no defining characteristics, other than Blaine being Perfect and Lance being a brute.
Gwen, who lives in the attic with her possums and her ratty blankets, is more of a maid than a princess. She was pitied by servants, who took her in secretly when nobody was allowed to help her beyond making sure she was still alive. She's still a sweetheart and loves to bake/cook, holding all the kindness of Cinderella (which is her fav story that she read to herself in the nights where everything seemed so hopeless <3).
It's life to her. Normal life, that's a bit (a lot) sucky but she finds bright moments when she can.
Then... This all changes after being rejected by Prince Frederick, whose name-calling was the last straw (with, in this au, Blaine who merely said that they all had their roles to play), she runs into the forest, into the dark woods that have been her home since she was a young girl, and she trips, falls, and after a long period of darkness, she awakes in Our Gwen's bedroom.
Unknowingly to her, she switched places with our Gwennie.
