A família Yildiz é bastante conhecida na cidade por serem donos da Yildiz Textile, atuando como fornecedores de praticamente todos os negócios locais que envolvem tecidos e outros tipos de têxteis, também contendo bons negócios com diversas cidades vizinhas. Lale é parte da segunda geração dos Yildiz em solo americano, tendo seus avós (tanto maternos quanto paternos) imigrado da Turquia e se estabelecido localmente como comerciantes de tapeçarias, eventualmente crescendo e expandindo seus negócios. Filho mais novo de três, Emre sempre fora mimado, crescendo com a certeza de que nada era mais importante que dinheiro e diversão. Mas se por um lado era o favorito da mãe, conseguindo tudo o que queria sempre, era também o sinônimo de fracasso para o pai. Afinal, seu irmão mais velho estava preparado para seguir os negócios de sucesso do pai, enquanto o filho do meio havia se tornado um respeitado advogado da comunidade local. Não era que Emre não fizesse nada de sua vida, exatamente, apenas nada que Ayaz Yildiz aprovasse. Afinal, investir em boates locais era sujar o sobrenome Yildiz, até então ligado somente à ‘coisas sérias’, como afirmaria seu pai.

Uma vida inteira de facilidades e luxo o deixara não apenas mal acostumado, mas distante da realidade difícil de outras pessoas além de sua bolha. Para além disso, tornou-se uma pessoa pouco responsável e sem noção de consequências já que por mais que o pai deixasse claro o quanto desgostava do filho, estava pronto para abrir a carteira sempre que preciso corrigir alguma de suas besteiras. Ainda que fosse razoavelmente próximo da mãe, havia um quê de superficialidade até mesmo naquela relação, como se ele apenas servisse para suprir alguma carência da mulher que estava constantemente sozinha, abandonada por um marido que somente sabia trabalhar (e, claro, traí-la com garotas vinte anos mais nova como um bom e respeitável homem de família tradicional). Distante também dos irmãos, a relação mais verdadeiramente carinhosa (e provavelmente única) que tivera durante sua vida fora com a avó paterna. Ele ainda a visita constantemente até os dias atuais, e é provavelmente a única pessoa que coloca senso em sua cabeça eventualmente.

Mesmo o dinheiro que a família Yildiz garantia à mídia local não foi capaz de abafar completamente o pior episódio da vida do rapaz — fora em uma festa da faculdade que exagerara no álcool e nas substâncias entorpecentes, atrevendo-se a pegar o carro em seguida. Havia sido comprovado que o outro carro havia ultrapassado o sinal vermelho. Claro, seu pai havia pagado o juiz. Mas nem toda a droga do mundo o faria esquecer o momento em que ele, e ninguém mais, fizera o cruzamento perigoso ignorando o sinal vermelho, e colidira de frente ao carro em que havia uma família. Os rumores distorceram a situação toda, dizendo que ele simplesmente havia se entupido de álcool e colidido contra um poste, mas não havia sido preso por dirigir naquele estado por conta de seu importante pai. A história real tinha consequências muito piores, incluindo a morte de um pai de família que deixava para trás uma mulher grávida cuja vida fora arruinada por um irresponsável Emre. O que ninguém além de sua avó sabe é que Emre, sob desculpa de um seguro de vida, provém uma alta renda desde então à mulher a fim de tentar compensar o seu feito. Esconde isso de seu pai a todo custo, visto que se Ayaz descobrisse que o filho ainda mantinha laços com a vítima, a verdadeira história poderia vazar e arruinar o sobrenome da família (inclusive expondo os ilegais subornos que esta fazia)

Born in California, Emir couldn't say that his life was mediocre or extravagant. It had always been somewhere in the middle and he felt like he belonged somewhere in the middle. His parents had been normal which, in turn, made him the exact same way. There was never anything to look forward to, but he had found himself used to that feeling. That was until he met a friend that felt like they were the most exquisite person in the world to him. He had described himself as a halfblood, a cambion that could wield power Emir could only dream of having to himself. It had enamored him and given him so much to want for that he never even knew he could want. Gaining power meant nothing for someone that had ambition like he did though. Even though his life was just normal, Emir knew he was always capable of so much more.

The supernatural beings that he had been exposed to had his eyes opening in wonder most of the time, but he knew he couldn't stand there with his mouth agape waiting for something to happen. Emir had to make things happen on his own or nothing would happen at all. Perhaps that had blinded him, but he had been young. He was only a teenager still and he had decided to pour his life into something that wasn't just normal. He wanted that power to wield and he would stop at nothing to get it. That meant he couldn't just be some regular person asking for a gift to be bestowed upon him. Emir needed to be exquisite himself. So he asked his dear friend to teach him everything he could possibly know about the supernatural and to train him in defending himself. He wouldn't be laughed off or just inconsequential to people. Emir was going to be important by any means necessary.

He had sought out that power on his own and worked hard to make sure he was noticed, too. It wasn't easy for some regular human to prove himself, but Emir had never wanted to be just regular. Perhaps that was what caused that one vampire to turn him. She had come to him in the dead of night, seen something in him that everyone else hadn't. Where his halfblooded friend had left, she had still been there. Emir had realized that she was young like him and he always wondered if that was what had drawn her to him in the first place. He never bothered to ask though. His transition to becoming a vampire seemed to be easy because of it. A progeny, she called him. A prodigy. Rhiannon was by no means someone he thought was going to just hold his hand through all of it and he never wanted her to. He had picked up being a vampire just as easily as he picked up any fighting or instruments or art. Perfection was what he strived for and he wouldn't let himself be anything less. Even if it meant that he never asked for help.

Eventually, Emir was pulled to Rome and had become a marshal for their Senate. Of course, he had made sure to know everything he could know about the position before he wielded it. He wouldn't be some naive child that they could look at and think wasn't worthy of it. No, he was going to be someone that was powerful and someone to be feared if need be. If someone were to pose a threat to the very foundation of all the Juno line had built, Emir was not afraid to get his hands dirty. He would always be a firm hand and people took notice of it because he made sure they noticed him. Young wasn't a word he would let them use in regards to him. Anonymity and recognization were two different sides of a coin for Emir and he had no problem making sure that he was capable of both.
