So it seems like people enjoyed the out of context Tenth Doctor Adventures post, so I bring you the sequel: OOC Time Reaver

Let’s start with some Ten being flustered at Donna in a corset

Donna: “Why is everything in this wardrobe for a wench?!”

The Doctor: “What—Oh!”

Donna: “See what I mean?”

The Doctor: “Yeah, that is very… Uh, yeah, I suppose you would say… Wen-chy… Wench-ish?”

The Doctor: “Are you trying to look… wenchy?”

Donna: “Don’t have much choice, spilt my tea when we started lurching.”

Donna: “…Do you like it?”

And follow that up with our favorite idiots stopping in the middle of a bar fight to talk about the game on screen:

The Doctor: “I wish I knew who was playing tonight!”

Donna: “Doctor, behind this table!”

Donna: “The Blues.”

The Doctor: “Seriously?”

And now some general OOC:

The Doctor: “We need a new fluid link. I can’t fix it, we’re going to have to take it to a garage.”

Donna: “A garage? Boring!”

The Doctor: “Oh, why? What do you do when your car breaks down?”

Donna: “Well, I—I mostly stand on the pavement, looking sad yet optimistic.”

Donna: “Do you secretly just like this place because it makes you think the TARDIS is the most brilliant of all the ships?”

The Doctor: “Oh, I wouldn’t—psshh—well…”

The Doctor: “Tell you what? We have got no licenses, of any kind, whatsoever! Arrest us!”

Officer: “Sorry, has there been some mix-up? You’re not on my agenda.”

The Doctor: “I am now!”

Donna: “Sorry, he’s upset about the scones… Among other other things.”

The Doctor: “Ah, here it is! Vagabond’s Reach! Most feared social environment in the galaxy!”

Donna: “You’ve never been up Sugar Hut on a Tuesday.”

The Doctor, under his breath: “You don’t know everything about me.”

Gully: “A stranger!”

The Doctor: “Oh—Friend you haven’t met yet!”

Gully: “Who are you?”

The Doctor: “Someone who unties girls from chairs.”

Donna: “When I lost my dad… Do you know what his last words to me were? ‘Give up your stash of terrible, terrible weapons.’”

The Doctor: “…What?”

Donna: “I have in my hands a piece of paper, and it says I’m in charge!”

The Doctor: “I think maybe the universe needs its crossing places where the rules don’t apply. Otherwise, where are us space buccaneers gonna go?”

Donna: “You’re not a space buccaneer!”

The Doctor: “I think I have the air of a space buccaneer.”

Donna: “You have the air of a primary school teacher.”

The Doctor: “Of a space buccaneer!”

Donna: “On non-uniform day.”

It’s funny because I didn’t ship Hannigram at first... I’d thought the idea of a cannibal having a relationship was terrifying because what if they had sex and Hannibal got hungry in the middle of the act? Lmaoooo

But yeah they’re my endgame now. I watched the show when it first aired and I was about 14/15 years old so now you see why I thought that. Although I’m still afraid I’m gonna be reading a fic and Hannibal will suddendly bite Will’s dick off or smth AKJHSAKJSAHSASKAJ

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)

Uhhh Doctor/Clara. Mainly because I don’t like to ship the Doctor with companions (there may be one or two exceptions but I don’t ship them enough to actually say I ship them lol) and I don’t know I just never vibed with it

Doctor/River. I mean, I did like it for a while years ago but now it’s just... eh. I think she has a waaay better chemistry with the 12th Doctor, but still don’t ship it. I might give it a try once I listen to the River audios but so far meh. I’m not much of a multishipper anyway.

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what

God. I’ve written a couple of Academy Era (focused on the Deca) crack fanfics and I still have to translate them to English. They’re pure garbage but I love them. I have a lot of fun writing crack fics because they’re easier and I can ignore whatever piece of canon I want just for the laughs

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom

Guess it’s Doctor Who, been here (in and out of the fandom) for over 8/9 years

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it

Uhhhh I think it was Han Solo and Leia, since I was a kid really. I wanted to marry both of them lol

I don’t think so, but Twitter definitively has. I remember a couple years ago I was curious to see what voltron was about and watched a few episodes, it was ok, fun and cute but the fandom was so annoying I stopped watching it for good and don’t care about it enough to pick it up again

J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr

I had definitively forgotten about supernatural until I saw it all over my dashboard in the year of our lord 2020 lmao like in my wholock days I tried to watch the show because everyone on my dash (is it still called dashboard?) was talking about it and I watched about 8 episodes before dropping it. But seeing it again on the dash was actually a happy surprise because the memes are too funny hahaha

K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms

I’m extremely shy irl and on the internet as well but I wanna say that @janeturenne is one of the best authors ever and her fanfics are a blessing in my life; also @thebraxiatelcollection who brings awesome content to my dash and is also one of the best authors. And of course, you, Jack, also one of the best authors god I’m so BLESSED

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)

Uhhh I guess I’m neutral about the current companions. They’re not my favorites but I don’t really dislike them - they had a lot of potential and chibs came up with some good storylines but did not develop them well in my opinion. I think Graham is a fun grandpa whom I’m going to miss when he leaves; Ryan is cool and could’ve done a lot more if the writers had kept a few things, it’d be awesome if he vlogged all of their adventures. He’s like the one I was curious to see more but sadly didn’t feel a connection; and Yaz, I hope she’ll keep growing and that her friendship with the Doctor will finally be developed to a level we can connect to her.

It sounds weird because with the fam it’s always ‘what I wish could have been’ because I never felt really connected to them :(

M - Say something genuinely nice about a ship that you don’t ship (or its shippers, or anything related to you)

Ok... I don’t really ship Rey/Finn but I think it’s one of the sweetest ships ever, and if they ended up together I’d be happy. They love each other and are there for each other always so, yeah :D

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

I don’t know if I got the question right but it’s three things I wish I saw more in my main fandom? Well, if it’s that, then, 3 things about the Doctor Who fandom: 1) people having more civilized or light-hearted discussions about things. Like, I genuinely disliked an 8th doctor audio I listened once that my friends loved, and they made fun of me and we joked about it. Also once we were in a live twitch video playing among us and discussing doctor who, and then we got into a ship “discourse” as a joke and nobody really cared and just laughed because everyone knew it’s fictional shit so why get mad over it? 2) Doctor Who has a titanic amount of content, it’s all canon but at the same time it’s not, so who cares? If you want to listen to Big Finish audios and if you can afford it, then lisiten; if you can’t, it’s okay, no one has the right to tell you you’re less of a fan. Just tell them to fuck off; 3) The best way to keep fandom alive is by creating content. Here in my local fandom we have several podcasts dedicated to all areas of the whoniverse (the show, the expanded universe, the audios, etc), those old fandom websites who do serious work to bring news to the fans, people who make subtitles for the classic series (we don’t have it available here so they do their best to make it accessible to other fans), accounts dedicated to promoting dr who fans who create content, and we even have people making their own audiodramas with dw characters and writing book-lenght fanfiction to help explain the show to people who’ve never watched it, and a great variety of things. I’ve seen a few of these things in the international fandom, mostly by older fans, so I wish younger fans about my age who have the means to make this kind of stuff would make it too. Maybe there’d be less twitter drama out there lol

I’ve mentioned it before but doctor/river, don’t really remember why idk I just don’t vibe with it anymore. But also because thoschei has so many different pairings in 1 ship that I don’t really feel the need to ship them with anyone else lol

GOD I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT’S SO SPECIFIC ok fellow academy era stans gather around if you have read Divided Loyalties there’s a scene where it SHOWS that Magnus had a crush on Ushas. And NO ONE HAS EVER TALKED ABOUT THEM and the power couple they would’ve made. I write them into all my fanfics in hopes of making other people ship them but I’ve had no success so far

The Master is a big fan of musicals and in the 77 years he spent on earth he watched every single one ever. I’m gonna be bold and say that when he was young, still Koschei, he was an artist, and thought about dropping everything to become an actor on Gallifrey. Time Lords do appreciate art, and have their own plays, but it’s just the same old and boring ones the young people don’t care about. The Master then created a shocking performance that was way ahead of its time and the older Time Lords were so appalled they banned him from writing and presenting plays and that’s his villain origin story

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)

1) The Doctor and the Master married on Gallifrey and the entire show is just them having the most litigious divorce in the universe (still isn’t final because the Master has killed all the judges); 2) Ushas/The Rani is ace; 3) The Deca was a 10 people polyamorous relationship; 4) Romana and Livia were girlfriends at the Academy and they hate each other now because the break up was baad; 5) Romana writes fanfiction; 6) Romana/Leela had a thing in Davidia I KNOW it; 7) Leela pegs Narvin; 8) Brax has a life-size painting of Romana at his collection or a statue or smth; 9) Brax’s dream in Reborn is actually REAL and he’s married to Romana, Leela and Narvin all at the same time

hello i am interested in some more deets about song of sunder 👀

WELL SINCE YOU ASKED smash cut to about two years ago when I was so badly wanting to play dnd that I just threw seven characters into a half-baked world and played pretend with myself (I’m not kidding there was actual dice involved). since then it’s been brewing in the back of my head and I only really started to think about it seriously last year. I’m sure some of it comes from my obsession with CR and my fic brain going “dothisdothisdothis” because it’s very much a ‘formative text’ for me, but it’s been this nice little feel good place for me to go back to, especially this year.

it’s actually at the top of my list in terms of what I’ve been thinking about diving into (since I apparently cannot write fic anymore lol it’s fine), and I’ve been working on it a lot recently just fleshing out the world and the character arcs.

though, one of the things I have been considering seriously is just how you write a story like this, in a format meant to be read rather than experienced like any other dnd campaign. like is it just seven povs with separate chapters (a la game of thrones) or, and this is the one I’m drawn to but have no idea what it would turn out like, is it a story told from a third person omniscient narrator, weaving interchangeably through perspectives just like a dm would do in an actual game. like a screenplay but with prose. dnd is such a subjective experience, and while a lot of people have had success adapting liveplays to other visual mediums, like animation or graphic novels, I’ve never seen someone do it in fiction. I especially have never done it lol. I only ever write from distinct povs and switch them out, so this would be hard. maybe. I haven’t actually tried it yet.

the story itself is pretty standard high fantasy dnd, a ‘sundered’ world where the planes all kind of smushed up against each other (familiar? :P) with a bunch of different factions and nations and secrets and wars and people trying to be gods and all that jazz, with a group of assholes thrown into the mix to become big damn heroes (the bones of the world are actually what I used to flesh out DW but shh don’t tell anyone). every arc (9, one for each character and a beginning and an ending) would open with ari, the bard, almost like she’s telling a story to the reader.

my pie in the sky ideas for it would be some kind of serialized fiction, if I could get my ass in gear to actually do it. I’ve thought about how amazing it would be to do an audio drama one day with different voice actors and music and sound effects and all that shit, like oh my god do I want to do that. I have no idea how to do that, obviously, but that would be The Dream. I’ve even gone so far as to pick out a theme song, because I clearly don’t have enough things to worry about in my life.

and because I’m feeling indulgent and I spent all day making these face refs (thank you, you little monster) the aforementioned assholes (they all have multiple classes and subclasses because I have the Too Much gene):

ari (ariannai), an autumn eladrin bard/druid (college of glamour and lore/circle of dreams) from the feywild, soft and sweet and perfectly capable of gutting anyone who tries to fuck with her, has a gold pseudodragon familiar named trill whom she loves like a child, plays a masterful mandolin, her voice is magic (literally), actual snow white, leliana and josephine were huge inspo for her

kayd, a human fighter/warlock (eldritch knight/hexblade and undying) from the frozen north, a charming sailor with a thirst to prove himself (listen I love fjord a lot okay) and a cursed sword (don’t worry about it), likes purple and flirting with everything that moves, frequently gets into trouble because of this, but he can talk his way out of a jail cell (and has!) so it’s been fine so far (don’t think about the cursed sword)

verity, a half-tiefling/half-drow monk/rogue (way of shadow/assassin and soul blade) from the shadowfell, a ruthless thief and a terrible shit-starter running from a dark past, she has a pet rat named poe and loves gossip, looks like a child but is actually the oldest in the group, knife girl, her horns are tiny enough to fit in a hood but not tiny enough to fit in with her elvish family so that sucked but hey they’re all dead now so who came out on top in the end

esher, a human artificer/fighter/sorcerer (battle smith/gunslinger/phoenix soul) from a bustling white city on a hill, an obnoxious noble with a long lineage and a complete disregard for politics and propriety and his own privilege (he’s a younger son so he’s usually left alone and ignored and that’s fine, obviously), he loves nerd shit and his ancient owl, hornsby, and sometimes he sets things on fire with his fingers which would be fine only he sets things on fire with his experiments as well so things are on fire a lot around him

goya (goyzadara), a half-orc/half-elf fighter/paladin/ranger (samurai/oath of the ancients/beast master), a princess in exile, honorable to a fault (which is why she was exiled), big into history and politics, finds a baby gryphon and immediately goes to pieces, Disaster Sword Lesbian, likes embarrassing men by kicking their asses in fighting rings, though she never takes the money, because she’s noble like that, has a weird obsession with dragons, does embroidery in her free time to chill out, can’t cook for shit

sabrathan, a scourge aasimar blood hunter/ranger/sorcerer (order of the ghostslayer/monster slayer/divine soul), a half feral girl from the woods who knows way too much about how to disembowel monsters three times her size, skittish and intense and maybe an angel but don’t ask her about it or she will disappear for a few hours and come back with an elk for dinner, never seen out of the company of her crossbow or her sickles, more comfortable around animals than people

theo (theoderic), a human sorcerer/wizard (runechild/school of chronurgy and conjuration and transmutation (he’s a special snowflake)), the smartest person you will ever meet and he knows it, socially awkward and unnervingly quiet, not actually an asshole just neurodivergent (but also sometimes an asshole), craves Phenomenal Cosmic Power and affection, has anime hair and terrible handwriting, Gay as Fuck

their group name would be Sirenox (the name of the last dragon seen in Sunder over five hundred years ago, whose final act was to grant a group of adventurers a boon to stop an archlich from plunging the land into eternal darkness), and I love them all very much, and definitely already have full romance arcs fleshed out for all of them, because that’s more important than worldbuilding, obviously.

so anyway there you go, my own little dnd campaign that I will probably never write, just think about wistfully until I die

Things to do during this god-awful hiatus

It's like 2016 all over again: no Doctor Who. At all. But! It's a 55 year old franchise guys, there will always be new content, no matter how much you've consumed.

[Under the cut because I'm not THAT Guy]

Watch the rest of NuWho. Yeah, this might sound obvious to some, but it's come to my attention that a lot of the new fans have only seen season 11! If so, I personally recommend the 11th Doctor (his run starting on season 5), because him and 13 are very similar. Honestly though, just start with season 1, it's really good (never skip 9 was a really big rule back in the day, you know).

Watch the spin-offs! There's three of them now, and yes, there have been some riots about side characters who deserve shows of their own, but the ones we have are actually pretty good! There's Torchwood, following Jack Harkness and his group of alien-fighting friends (a bit more mature that dw); Sarah Jane Adventures, which contains the woman herself, her son, and a couple of friends as they defeat aliens from their attic. This one's a bit more kiddy, being a CBBC show, but I still think it's really good; and Class. There are mixed opinions about Class, but the overall consensus was that it should have been renewed for s2. It has a completely new cast, so you've never see any of the characters before, and it has some really good lgbt rep.

Give Classic Who a go. Honestly? It's up in the air as to whether or not I think these new fans would like it, but if you can see past the... let's say obvious display of a low budget, then it's very good. Yes, 26 seasons is a lot, but you don't really have to watch them all in order, just pick a Doctor and watch his run, then pick another and watch that, etc. It's what I'm doing right now!

Watch the film/read the EDAs. As most people know, 8 (Paul Mcgann) was only around for the film, then disappeared and NuWho came back with Christopher Eccleston. But! Did you know that there are countless novels containing many, many adventures with 8? With new companions and aliens and everything? As a product of it's time, it's actually pretty gay (no spoilers but whew eda fans Fitz's dream, right?) and the writing is really good. Just... see past the obvious crack the writers were smoking.

Read the other books. Read, you heathens, read! Literally there are at least three books from every era just find them online or on Amazon or something.

Have a go at the comics? The comics... whew I honestly would believe it if someone said there were more dw comic issues than episodes. They're in every era with every doctor, sometimes even multiple doctors! Yes they've got 13 content already out.

Listen to the audio dramas. Ok, I'll be the first to admit they're pricey as all hell (I torrent mine shhhh) so you might not be able to access these as easily (seriously just use audiobookbay it's all there) but I really do think you should give them a go. The fanservice is so good it makes me weep honestly. Lgbt rep? Check. More content from your faves? REALLY check (seriously, there's a Paternoster Gang series coming soon, and Missy has one, and River). Your faves being messy? Yup. Your wildest headcanons being achieved? Oh yeah. Seriously. I recommend.

The Faction Paradox. No. No. N O.

Watch the minisodes? I dunno, they're pretty entertaining, but it's not much content at a l l. They're mostly 11th Doctor, season 6-ish era. Kind of slice-of-life shenanigans. If you like River Song there are a few where 11 and her go on some dates.

Is that it? I don't know, honestly. There's always going to be something about Doctor Who that I don't know, but I think all of this content should supply you until 2020. I hope. God please let it be enough.
