Adventures in the University Quarter
On my final day in Seoul, I referred back to my trusty Seoul Official Tourist Guide at http://english.visitseoul.net/map-guide-book
Using its recommended itineraries as guide, I decided to visit the University Quarter. Here’s the route I undertook:
Ewha Woman’s University -> Yonsei University -> Hongdae
Quick reminder for would-be explorers: It would be great if you could stop by the local Korea Tourism Board to pick up brochures, maps, and a complimentary T-Money card which is a transportation card that can be used on public buses and subways in several different metropolitan cities and locations.
1st Pitstop: Ewha Woman’s University - “Korea’s first educational institute for women” which was “founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton, an American missionary of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
The three virtues of Ewha are truth, goodness, and beauty which are shown in its exquisite architectures and serene environment.
2nd Pitstop: Yonsei University, “one of most prestigious universities in Korea” with “one of the most beautiful campuses in Seoul”. The university is a leisurely 10-minute walk from Ewha Woman’s University. According to my friends, the university was featured in numerous television programs and dramas, making it one of the must-visit sites for K-drama fans.
3rd Pitstop: Hongdae, a bustling hub of youth activity where visitors were treated to a wide variety of cafes, fashion shops, art markets, clubs and gourmet eateries.
After a long day of walking around the University Quarter, it was time for lunch and I followed the locals to a Korean BBQ restaurant which was filled with diners and celebrity memorabilia.
As I was travelling by myself, I had to settle for Korean beef Bibimbap which was one of the best that I had in the city.
The four side dishes were delicious and were a meal by itself. Luckily, I managed to control myself and left room for the delicious Bibimbap that came with a warm bowl of kimchi soup.
After lunch, I still had a couple of hours to spare before my trip to the airport and I wandered around the neighborhood to enjoy the company of the warm, gentle sun.
As 4pm approached, I made my way back to the Grand Ambassador Seoul and bid farewell to this beautiful city.
Before my 11pm flight, I made a quick pitstop to the food court located at the basement of the airport for a delicious bowl of tofu soup.
Thank you Seoul for a fantastic adventure where I managed to experience Intel Extreme Masters Gyeonggi 2016, explore the Palace Quarter, visit N Seoul Tower and Myeong-dong Shopping Paradise, and attend a special K-Live K-Pop Hologram Concert in Dongdaemun.
It was truly an unforgettable Seoul Adventure, and I hope that I will be back soon to continue my adventures in South Korea!

[EVENTO] SEOUL CHRISTMAS.
(Sungtan chukhahaeyo).
______________________________________________________________
Regras do desafio:

K-Live K-Pop Hologram Concert in Dongdaemun
After a satisfying dinner at the top of N Seoul Tower, it was time for me to visit the fashion hub of Dongdaemun and experience K-Live K-Pop Hologram Concert at LOTTE FITIN.
The K-Live K-Pop Hologram Concert utilizes holograms, lighting, live props and performers to immerse visitors in a “live” K-Pop concert. Visitors can view the performance schedule at http://www.klive.co.kr/renewal/Eng/main.php#concert
The K-Pop experience starts with an elevator ride straight up to Level 9 where they are greeted by BIGBANG.
Once you arrive, you will be fully immersed into the K-Live K-Pop Experience where you are able to purchase souvenirs, take photos, and interact with its displays.
One of the more interesting displays is the “Paparazzi Times” where you have to peek through the camera lens to “decipher” the television screens.
Besides the merchandise store, the photo booth is the most popular attraction among the visitors.
During my visit, the “Maple Story” musical was being screened and I managed to visit the gallery showcasing the “behind the scenes look” for the production.
At 8pm, it was time for me to enter the theater for the “BIGBANG SPECIAL with Krunk”.
It was a memorable experience where viewers had the chance to participate in the concert as female guests were rewarded with opportunities to “go on stage” with BIGBANG. The K-Live K-Pop Hologram Concert is definitely a must-visit attraction for fans of K-Pop.
With an hour to spare before the start of my “Chimaek” party (fried chicken and beer party), I explored the fashion capital of Dongdaemun where my senses were bombarded with bright lights and loud music.
I retreated from the shopping hub to the beautiful and mysterious Dongdaemun Design Plaza which is an architectural marvel, blending traditional buildings with cutting-edge modern designs to create an unforgettable experience.
I loved to wander around its quirky stores filled with quiet spaces and unique displays.
As 9pm arrived, it was time to take a quick 5-min ride to the venue for my “Chimaek” party (fried chicken and beer party).
Although I was stuffed from a day full of buffet, I still managed to consume four glasses of beer and 10 pieces of fried chicken.
Cheers to a great Seoul Adventure and one more day before I returned to my sunny island of Singapore!

Romancing the N Seoul Tower
The N Seoul Tower is a major tourist attraction with both locals and overseas visitors as it offers breathtaking views of the city.
Climbing up the hill to reach N Seoul Tower is a mini-challenge so travel light and wear a comfortable pair of shoes for climbing. However, once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the city.
In recent years, N Seoul Tower has become a romantic pilgrimage for lovers to attach padlocks along the “Locks of Love” to symbolize their eternal love for each other.
N Seoul Tower is also home to tons of restaurants and attractions such as Hello Kitty Land and a toy museum.
Before returning to the city to catch K-Live, it was time for a good dinner buffet at Season’s Table which offers great food in a warm environment.
After a satisfying dinner, it was time to catch a few more glimpses of the beautiful N Seoul Tower before making my way to catch the K-Live Hologram Concert.
Stay tune for more Seoul Adventures!

Adventures in Myeong-dong Shopping Paradise
To many, Myeong-dong is known as the ultimate shopping paradise with lots of clothes, shoes, and accessories to be purchased. However, for me, the tourist attraction is a street food haven, filled with lots of carts selling all manners of local delicacies from grilled lobsters and octopus to roasted chestnuts and pancakes.
Here’s a quick look at a beautiful Christmas evening at Myeong-dong:
After exploring the streets for two hours, it was time for dinner and once again, Lady Luck smiled upon me as I managed to find my local friends for dinner at Baekje Samgyetang, one of the most famous places for Ginseng Chicken.
Baekje Samgyetang is located at 8-10, Myeong-dong 8-gil, just a short 5-10 minutes walk from the main entrance to Myeong-dong.
After dining at this restaurant, I never want to have Ginseng Chicken anywhere else. It was comfort food at its best, with chicken so silky smooth that it just slips down my throat. The ginseng soup was strong without being overpowering, and it went well with the condiments comprising of pickled garlic and kimchi.
My friends and I adjourned to a small restaurant in Wangsimni for drinks. The venue resembled the restaurant from the popular television drama, “Late Night Restaurant”, and it catered to mostly locals who knew how to find this place.
For the first time ever, I learnt that the locals mixed makgeolli with honey, and I absolutely loved the combination. It was refreshing and delicious, and I could have endless bottles of it. For a more fizzy and sweet taste, you can also add Korean “cider” (soda water) to the mixture.
Although we were really full from dinner, the restaurant host insisted that we ordered something from the menu and the result was a large plate of pancake that stared at us while we stared right back at it. We did eventually finished the food, though 1:30am greeted us with his bitter cold by the time we left the restaurant.
Stay tune for more Seoul Adventures!
