at this point i have thoughts about all members but hwa was my entry point so

yeah i initially had seen that asmr video and a while later probably deja vu or smth came up on a playlist and i was like OK this slaps...wait arent those the guys from that asmr video? and i didnt want to immediately stan a whole new group bc i'm a very cautious person about that but I was like...well...maybe I can just be a Seonghwa fan for now bc i was just so tickled by the idea of a whole idol who looks like THAT being such a huge nerd about something as odd as asmr which i also happen to be a big longtime fan of.

a while later i ended up falling in the deep end of everything ateez, first mostly just with their music (i realized i can count on one hand the number of songs i don't care for and everything else is extremely up my alleyboth in terms of songwriting and talent) and mv's, and then after i got to see them (first leg of towards the light na tour!) spent the week after the concert laid up with covid watching ateez instagram reels and im now officially cooked. but i regret nothinggggg.

and the more i watched seonghwa in mv's and performances and elsewhere i just got more and more drawn in. he stimulates the part of my brain where i hold the "am i attracted to this? or do i want to BE this? both?? its probably both but possibly more the second thing". when i was a little kid i had an obsession with the musical CATS (specifically the 1998 movie version) and i think i just love watching people move and use their bodies and voices in such expressive, beautiful, captivating ways to the point it can unsettle some people. i have actually had the specific observation that some of ateez's choreo actually really reminds me of the choreo in cats (2 particular examples that come to mind are the og wonderland choreo and also the intro performance of i think a music bank performance of guerilla?)

seonghwa is just so fun to watch for me, for that reason. the things he can do with his face, body, and voice? unbelievable. i'm a singer so i'm biased towards strong and versatile singers, which he is, and i have always been envious of people with tenor/bass voices and would LOVE to be able to sing those notes but also don't want to undergo any treatments that would cause me to lose my upper register bc singing there is also fucking fun and beautiful. the fact that hwa has both such a gorgeous low-mid register AND those soaring siren notes we love? on TOP of everything else? NOT. FAIR.

then the personality aspects. he just oozes a level of being so deeply weird that i just love. now idk exactly how much of what i see of him is "genuine", i tend to go with the assumption that what we see is informed by calculated business decisions but there are still parts of what is shown to us that are more or less "real" (if curated-as someone who parasocially cares a lot about these boys I sure hope that is the case, for their sakes) but i digress. it's delightful to see someone with this type of persona, real or not, out there doing their thing. it's freaking inspiring and tbh validating as someone who is themselves a deeply weird human and has been told as such (both complimentarily and not)

more on the other members later, for sure. the more i watch them closely the more i also see qualities of them that give me this feeling. i wouldn't be the level of atiny i am if i didn't. i always say that hwa is my bias but literally everyone else is a massive bias wrecker and i'm extremely ot8 they're all so. good and fascinating and hilarious and WEIRD.

(i also have to hand it to the rest of the kq team, the songwriters/producers, choreographers, stylists costumers set designers et cetera. there is something crazy going on in that place im floored)

before i go i gotta say i find it hilarious you haven't even gotten into lore yet. no judgement it took me a while to get into it too and it's like an entire other master's degree worth of stuff to sift through. but oh my god its a whole other layer of Personas and Meaning and Emotional Punches and what may or may not be...politics?(that definitely still falls within what you said abt it being the modus operandi of kpop agencies of making absolutely no definitive statements whatsoever. but god damn if those aren't ateez's alternate universe personas as a whole literal anarchist gang...except Anarchy is apparently about....singing and dancing?)

anyways. it took me an absurd amount of time to write this. my long form writing skills are rusty but im fired up rn. bye for now!

Okay I'm gonna take a moment to get sappy as hell because ATEEZ concerts always do this to me but... I wish I could meet all eight members in person and just. Shower them in praise. I want to tell them directly how incredible they are. Not just as people, but as performers. Artists.

One thing about ATEEZ, they have never been stagnant. Thinking back to their first tour and comparing it to the one their on now is just crazy. Each tour has gotten more and more elaborate and the venue sizes just continue to grow. It's so clear how dedicated ATEEZ are to being the absolute best performers they can be. I'll always remember when one member said in an interview that they always try to make their stages memorable, because it could be someone's first or last time seeing them -- and they always follow through. ATEEZ are in their own league when it comes to performances. They tell stories through their stages, taking on the roles of different characters for every song and showing atinys their entire range of emotion.

I'm going to be completely honest. In my several years of being a kpop fan, there a lot of performances that I think are great; but ATEEZ have absolutely taken the cake. Their performances are alive, they always give 1000%, they sing completely LIVE, on top of that, their stages are full on theater sets. I feel so much whenever I watch them perform. I get so immersed, watching them pour their heart and soul into everything, down to the little details. If you look up the definition of passion in the dictionary you'll see a photo of ATEEZ. They are the perfect example of what it means to be dedicated to one's craft. You can tell they want nothing more than to continue to improve, and they DO, always outdoing themselves with every comeback. Their involvement in their own work is also extremely admirable. Hongjoong and Mingi being so dedicated to producing and song writing, and of course with their latest album, all of the members got to show of their song writing skills and blew all of us away with their lyricism. And then of course there's moments on stage.

We often here about how ideas for certain performances on stage come from the members themselves (a lot of times, Seonghwa, lol) and it's just so--excuse my French--FUCKING obvious that this is more than just a job to them. They don't do the bare minimum on stage to get paid. No, it's clear that ATEEZ love what they do so much, possibly more than anything. They were born to be on stage. I know it's kinda cheesy, and I don't even really believe in fate-- but there was definitely some magic that happened when the eight of them united.

ATEEZ are so hard-working, so goal-oriented, so in love with performing and creating memorable experiences for their fans. I'm honestly so blessed to be alive at the same time as them, because I am HERE to witness their amazing artistry.

This is just another long ass ramble post that more than likely won't be seen by anyone but if it just so happens that someone who's contemplating stanning ATEEZ sees this-- this is your SIGN. You will never turn back. You won't want to turn back. You've never seen a group give their all until you’ve met ATEEZ. Your expectations will be exceeded every single time with them. The bar will be raised higher than you ever thought it could be. Put aside your judgements. Don't ignore them just because they're 4th gen. The hate train for ATEEZ exists purely out of intimidation and jealousy. But once you open your eyes to them and see what they're all about and how much they give back to their fans... you'll see why people are intimidated. You'll see why people even just want a fraction of their success. And when you come to learn that their growth was organic, stemming not from being handed things on a silver platter but because of genuine goddamn talent, you'll say "oh. OH. I see. This is what the hype is about."

They came from a small, unheard of company, and faced so many difficulties, but didn't let that stop or even slow them. From performing on the streets to putting on elaborate shows for Towards the Light; it's all deserved.

And I’m impressed with your conversations skills! You gave me so much to open up about I’ll have to consciously hold back a bit cause I’m prone to over sharing, but I don’t know what could give myself away (if there even is something to give myself away with...)

It seems impossible to me to bias just one person... In seventeen I fell for the 97 line but they didn’t come as a group, I got connected to each at separate times; DK had caught my eye even before I was into kpop with his first Arthurkyeom pictures, then I just discovered the ray of sunshine he is; Hao is my baby; and Myngiu is there to be my enemies to lovers trope cause his “perfectsona” gets on my nerves but I love the clumsy puppy

And I’m a fairly new atiny, I was converted by corseted Seonghwa in Kingdom appearing from behind that line of armed men.... (what a moment, I still get teary eyed thinking about it), but even before that, I had seen a video of Yunho with Rain and I was clearly interested, I remember thinking “This is the kind of man I need to have my eyes on” cause I thought he was older (I’m a 95 liner)... Jokes on me, he is even younger than my original 97 boys... So yeah, after watching a lot of their content and compilations no one was surprised these two ended up on my bias list... And I had my attention on Mingi cause I had seen a post comparing him to DK, so watching Ateez content I was kinda sulking and going “you are not him!” And yes, he is definitely not DK, but jokes on me again... I fell for yet another gigantic boy

how did you get into kpop, and what made you stan the current group/s you ult?

tbh i first listened to a small handful of kpop songs through a fine bro’s react video and shinee’s ‘lucifer’ really caught my eye during that vid. i also had some long time mutuals on here (from the wanted era <3) that switched to kpop once the group had their last concert and i saw a lot of BTS content. that started me watching a few of their dance practices esp for blood, sweat, and tears. started with BTS and slowly started to branch out from there.

i no longer follow them at all and my ult groups are NCT and SKZ mainly (DAY6 is also really high up there). through youtube vids i found out about both nct and day6 and started ulting skz last year around god’s menu. for nct it started mainly with their choreo and that’s still one of the reasons why i stan. i absolutely LOVE their performances from their dancing to their energy. also while it’s not new, their whole concept i find so neat as well. recently it’s kind of gotten off the rails cause SM i feel like is trying to fill superm’s spot with NCT hollywood <///3. their root concept is what is truly fun since with the different units having different styles and reaching different markets and all the members can also come together with some of the legendary units from 2018 and 2020. i’ll just leave is as a general statement for NCT otherwise this will be so long. for SKZ…..idiots…..similar to NCT as far as reaching a lot of different markets or styles is really interesting and makes it so interesting to see what they’ll do next!! also their team work and also their understanding of each other on and off stage is a big part of them being an ult group.

i think i made this way too long but yeah…..variety in music is a huge thing for me and i love the root styles and performances for both NCT and SKZ
