drabble: your eyes tell - special chapter part 2
The total solar eclipse, a black pearl necklace being auctioned for nine hundred two thousand dollars, and you glaring at Jeon Jeongguk.
These things were rare occurrences, but it looked like the last event you had mentioned would happen more frequently.
"I said no, Jeongguk."
Jeongguk. After being together for half a decade now, your husband still shuddered with fear every time you called him using his given name.
Why couldn't you just call him Gukkie? Did he fuck up so bad that you refused to coo his favorite nickname anymore?
"But—"
Your husband tried to reason out; however, when he saw how your glare became angrier, he stopped for a few moments.
Your cheeks were flushing. This didn't look good. You were making Jeongguk nervous.
"I really wanna move back to Seoul," he tried pouting his lips since he knew you could never resist his cute face.
He knew his plan was working when you suddenly clamped your eyes shut, refusing to look at him.
"I-It's not easy to just go back to the capital, Gukkie. Our life is literally here."
Here as in Busan. You and Jeongguk decided to settle down in his hometown the second you found out that you were pregnant.
You two figured that it would be best to raise your kid in a place where she could interact with nature. Busan was known for its beaches and mountains, unlike in Seoul where you would only be surrounded by tall buildings and hustlers.
Your kid shouldn't be in a stressful city at a very young age. Jeongguk knew this too, this was why you couldn't understand why he wanted to buy a house in Seoul.
"No, it's not." Jeongguk was still pouting while shaking his head. "You're a corporate lawyer and most businesses operate in Seoul. You barely have clients here."
He was right.
"Besides, Red wants to form a partnership with you. You know it's a good offer..."
You stayed quiet for a while, only biting your lower lip because you were aware that he made a point—a good point. But then again, you also knew that he wasn't saying these things for the advancement of your career.
He only wanted to go back to Seoul because "you want Chae-won to be close to Beomgyu, right?"
Chae-won. This was the name of your four year-old daughter. Chae meant color while won meant beginning.
You and Jeongguk thought that the name suited your daughter since Chae-won was made out of love, and love in your world signified the time you began to see the pretty hues.
"W-Well yeah..." Jeongguk was stuttering, trying so hard to find an excuse. "B-But it's also because I miss city life! I miss our friends! Don't you miss Jimin-hyung? Seokjin-hyung? Red?"
Jeongguk mentioned the Kim couple as if he was implying something. Admittedly, he had been trying to include them in literally every conversation you two were having, and the reason behind this was because of Beomgyu, the first born of Seokjin and Red.
Beomgyu and Chae-won were born in the same year. The former being three months older than your daughter. The two of them only met once since the Kims lived in Seoul—which was also the sole reason why Jeongguk wanted to move back to the capital in the first place.
Chae-won and Beomgyu met two weeks ago, meaning it had also been fourteen days since your daughter started seeing colors.
You could never forget that day.
Chae-won came crying to her father, hugging his left leg as if her life depended on it.
"B-Baby...what's wrong?" Jeongguk's face was pale. He could feel the tears pricking at his eyes.
He had always been like this. Jeongguk would cry when he saw his loved ones crying too.
"Appa! My eyes!" Chae-won used her free hand to rub her eye. She was doing it vigorously, as if she wanted to get rid of it.
"What happened to your eyes, my love?" You kneeled beside your daughter, stroking her hair in an attempt to calm her down.
It was obvious that your husband was losing his shit. At least one of you should try to stay calm, right?
"I-It's too bright, Mam..." Beomgyu was the one who answered on behalf of Chae-won.
You switched your gaze at Beomgyu, amazed because of how respectful he was. He was the only kid who called you Mam.
"Oh, my God..." Red suddenly gasped, covering her mouth when she realized something.
"D-Do you think they're..." Seokjin's wife stared at you, eyes widening as she trailed off.
"They're what?" Mr. Kim raised a brow, looking at his son and Chae-won.
"Soulmates?" Jeongguk supplied, unsure.
The four of you remained quiet. The only sounds that could be heard were Chae-won's sobs and Beomgyu's ragged breathing.
The four year-old boy didn't understand why his heart hurt so much just because Chae-won was crying. He wanted to wipe her tears away.
"Jeongguk..." You were the one who broke the silence. You glared at your husband because you felt like he just uttered the most absurd thing ever.
Sure, Jeongguk became a romantic when he finally accepted the idea of soulmates, but...wasn't he being a little too much?
Chae-won and Beomgyu were still young.
"I mean...it's a possibility, right? Chae-won started to cry when I told her to go play with Beomgyu." Jeongguk said, squatting to carry his baby girl.
You stood up, feeling a little uncomfortable with your position.
The six of you were inside the Kims' mansion. Red and Seokjin invited your family for dinner when they learned that you were in Seoul to attend Ji-eun's birthday party.
Actually, you would be staying here in Seoul for three days because Namjoon said he couldn't plan his daughter's birthday on his own. Even after four years, Namjoon was still chaotic as ever.
He refused to date, already happy with his life with Ji-eun.
"So are you saying that the world is so small that the daughter of my ex and my husband's former lawyer is the soulmate of my son?" Red chuckled, amused.
She wasn't sure whether to side with Jeongguk or not. But then again, they just couldn't ignore the mentioned possibility.
Fate always had its way of confusing the shit out of people.
"We can bring them to a doctor, if you want..." Seokjin blurted out, pulling Red closer to him as he patted his son's head.
Beomgyu was still staring at Chae-won, contemplating whether he should embrace her or wipe her tears away.
In the end, the little boy chose the former option, causing Jeonguk's heart to swell with so much happiness.
His happiness turned into joy when later that day, they found out that the kids were really soulmates.
"Of course I miss our friends," you finally answered Jeongguk's question after remembering what happened at the Kims' mansion two weeks ago.
"But I'm happy here, babe. Chae-won's friends are here. Her life is here. You know how much she likes visiting her grandparents whenever she pleases. She's born here, Gukkie."
Jeongguk bit his lower lip. He was the one who couldn't answer now. You made a point too.
"I say we let her decide where she wants to live. Chae-won is smart. She will know what her heart truly desires. Besides..." You went near Jeongguk, wrapping your hands around his neck.
He instantly encircled his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.
"Our daughter is still young. Let her be a kid, babe. We can't force her to seek romantic love just because she found her soulmate,"
Jeongguk looked sad, his lips trembling.
"I-I know that..." He heaved a deep sigh. "I guess I'm just scared. I don't want Chae-won to go through the pain you had experienced because of me. I met you a little late, love. I don't think I can handle seeing our daughter cry because her soulmate is in love with someone else..."
"Oh, Gukkie..." You nuzzled his nose, kissing his cheek.
Jeongguk was left craving for more, and so he placed a kiss on your sweet lips.
"Chae-won and Beomgyu are meant to be together. I'm sure fate will find a way to bring them together..."
"Just like what happened between you and me?" Your husband's eyes were wide and sparkling, like he was seeking your approval.
"Yeah, maybe even better. Maybe Beomgyu will love our precious baby more than we love her..."
"But I am the one who loves Chae-won the most!"
You chuckled because Jeongguk looked so adorable, like he was competing with a four year-old kid.
Typical Jeongguk.
"I know. I love you..."
"I love you too." Jeongguk smiled, kissing you once more. "And I'm so glad you're my soulmate..."

Part 1 - MEET
.
Today was quite uneventful for Seokjin, a bit boring considering it was weekend, and he was supposed to at least have fun with his group members.
That was if he could disregard the stunt that his date had pulled tonight. Threw away her blouse and dancing in her bra on the second floor of his club while her unmelodious singing almost sent him to blow his own head.
Or the scumbag that his partner just shot to death in the club's office, of course.
He had received several reports from his club manager about the man, who liked to harass the waitresses, despite many previous warnings. The investigation on his background revealed even more shocking facts, with graphic details in several pictures from his private investigator. The bastard liked to play with underage girl, one of them was reported missing, and had never been found until now.
Seokjin despised pedophile the most, more than a mere killer. So the moment he knew about it, he already planned of how he could torture and kill him in the most satisfying way to him.
It was supposed to be his turn to have fun, but the bastard had the nerve to put his hand on Yoongi's woman, and harrassed her while she was on the dance floor. Just then he knew, he had to give it to Yoongi to pull the trigger instead.
Well, as long as his brother could enjoy it, he could let it slide, there would always be next time for him.
Hence the boring side of today.
He decided to stay behind, after made sure all of his group members went home safely. Hoseok and Jungkook were beyond wasted, they were unconcious. And he had to literally chased Jungkook's date away, otherwise she would cling to him like a leech. Including his own date, he grimaced.
While Hoseok's date, well, he didn't even want to know. After giving Hoseok a lap dance and bite kisses all over him on the lounge sofa, she tried to kiss Yoongi, maybe even fuck him on the spot, if not for him spat a few profanities to stop her.
Taehyung had been gone with his girl since their early hour at the lounge, while Jimin, Namjoon and Yoongi fortunately were still very much sober, he didn't need to worry about them.
Alcohol could really dispel someone's inhibitions. Next time he would prefer to hire professional escorts instead, they definitely had more ethics and alcohol tolerance.
Now, back to the usual, the boring nights he usually went through every weekend. To think about it, working days were more interesting for him. He was waiting for the valet to fetch his Lamborghini when he vaguely heard a woman talked on her phone, a few meters from him.
She wore the club's uniform under her unbuttoned long coat, and Seokjin could see the obvious distress on her face.
"I can't, Mum, I gave all my salary to you. The month is still early." She paused while listening to the person on the other line. "I'll find a way. How much is the bill? Won't the insurance cover it?"
He could hear her nasal voice, either because of crying or the chilly night wind.
"Just give me a few days. Doctor Wong said he can hold Lisa until next week." Another pause. "You knew that's not the problem. I'll see what I can do." She hung up the phone, and wiped her eyes.
"I think you better fasten your coat, your dress is too distracting to be worn outside." He said to the girl, reducing his distance with her.
She looked at him startled, blinked her eyes several times.
He saw her face clearly now.
She was pretty, the cute kind of pretty, small face with big eyes, reminded him of anime characters. But the thing that drew his attention was her skin. Smooth and fair, it was like glowing with a tinge of pinkish color on her cheeks that he was sure, it wasn't from the make up. Combined with her face and her fragile looking stature, she looked ethereal.
If she worked at the club, how come he had never seen her before? With that kind of look, she probably had a hard time to evade raunchy customers trying to get her attention.
"Pardon?" She gazed at him with obvious mistrust in her eyes.
"I guess you are new at the club, I've never seen you before."
"It's my second month here." Her hesitant tone rendering her short answer.
Figures. He only came to the club once a month.
"How old are you? You looked too young to work in this kind of place." Her appearance made him guessed she was probably still seventeen or eighteen years old. He had been adamant about the rules to keep the age limit of the club waitresses to be at least twenty years old.
"I get that a lot. But I will be twenty two in a few months. Do you need my ID instead?" Now she kind of mocking him.
"No need, I can confirm with Kevin later. What's your name?"
Her eyes widened upon heard him mentioned the club manager. "Who are you?"
"Someone who has some privilege in the club." He smirked. "You haven't answered my question. What's your name?"
"It's Aerin." She looked nervous now, fidgeting in her spot, her hands were hidden in her coat pocket.
What a fitting name. Ethereal just like the mythical creature.
He observed her figure, the red dress uniform hung loosely on her, and it was supposed to be a tight fitting one. She looked malnourished.
"I assumed you are done with your shift tonight?"
She nodded, obvious doubt on her face.
"Let me take you home then. It's midnight, not really safe for little girl like you." He gestured to the blue car next to him.
"I can't go with a stranger."
"My name is Kim Seokjin. Kevin usually reports to me. You can confirm with him first if you want."
"No..that...won't be necessary." She went silent, eyeing his car with uncertainty.
"So, what are you waiting for? Just hop in, I'll take you home."
"My..my neighborhood isn't exactly fit for this kind of car. I don't want to draw attention."
"Then I'll drop you off a few blocks away and walk you home." Usually he would pay no mind in this kind of nonsense, it was wasting his time. But there was something in her that intrigued him, it was hard for him to just walk away.
Seconds of silence before she finally nodded, and walked to the passenger door.
Seokjin pressed the key fob to open the passenger door automatically and let her in, before turned to the other side and slid into the driver seat. Both doors swung down to close with a whirred click.
Her scent filled the interior of the car pleasantly, a soft mix between vanilla and coconut fragrance.
"So, where to?" He touched the screen to set the GPS.
The girl reached out her fingers instead, lightly brushing his in the process. "Let me type it, please?" She paused asking for his permission.
It was weird, the feeling of warm pleasure that she brought to him in the short period since he knew her.
A moment of silence later, she finally spoke to him. "So, are you the owner of the club?"
"What do you think?" Seokjin stole a glance at her. His fingers tingled with the urge to touch her cheek.
"I heard that the club owned by several men. Three or four of them, I'm not sure. Kevin never really mentioned it to us."
"Seven." He kept his eyes on the road, but his attention was fully on her and her pleasant scent.
She threw him a questioning look.
"There are seven men who own the club. I'm one of them." He continued, taking a side glance on her.
"I see." She was silent afterwards, and a few minutes passed while he focused on the wheel.
The car rode through a smooth highway for fifteen minutes before took a turn into an area with dim lighting, the road ahead started to narrow with old and worn buildings on both sides.
"Is it safe around here?" He felt a bit uneasy imagining the commute she had to endure every night.
"Mostly so." She shrugged. "We can stop here, my apartment only a few meters away, I can walk myself."
He pulled over at an empty road side, before killed the engine and slid out the car. "I'll walk you home. It's near anyway."
They arrived at a shabby looking three storey building, the entrance had a yellow dim lighting on.
"So, do you live here with your family?" He didn't like this area at all, and the thought of her petite figure being harassed on her way home worried him.
"My mum and my sister live in Daegu. I share the place with my friend."
"Good, at least your are not alone." He gazed at the surrounding, in terms of neighborhood, it wasn't so bad, the buildings were crammed next to each other, so if something going on, the next door resident would probably take notice.
"Thank you Mr. Kim, for your kindness." She gave him a light nod.
He scrutinized her for a while, before spoke to her in a rather stern manner. "Give me your phone."
"I ... I'm sorry?"
He sighed while looking at her with a hint of annoyance. "I'll save my number on your phone. Call me anytime you need help. You are not supposed to work this late. It's not safe." He typed his number impatiently, then gave the phone back to her. "Good night, Aerin."
"Wait..." The doubtful tone on her voice stopped him on his track.
"You said you can help me. Then, can you help me with ... something?" She looked hesitant again.
"You look like someone who... has influence and connection. If ... if only you can recommend me to your acquaintances.."
Seokjin furrowed his brows, he didn't like where he thought this conversation were heading to. "Recommend you for what exactly?"
"My..myself."
"As in for sex?" He felt anger started to pool in him. The thought of another man to hold and fuck her was enough for him to want to stab another soul tonight.
"I'm in predicament right now. My sister need money for her treatment, and this is the fastest way to earn money. If ... if the reference is from you, I can be sure it's a decent one. I've never done this before, so I have to make sure that the..client is not some abusive man with peculiar taste ... you know ..."
She paused, and Seokjin could see her face turned so pale.
"There are other ways." He deadpanned.
"I know there are. But time isn't on my side right now. She need the fund immediately. It's either my dignity or my sister's life." Her hopeful stare bore into his mind.
Seokjin clenched his jaw in fury. He was sure he would regret his decision later, but right now he just didn't care. "Come with me, then."
She was dumbstruck, and her eyes looked even bigger. "Now? For what?"
"You offered your body, so I'm buying you for tonight. Let's go to my place." He started to lose his patience, and he knew she could sense it.
