Is Typography Important in Website Designs?
First, what is typography? It basically covers the creative design of your text on the website and includes stylized elements such as letter designs, leading and kerning. Usually this is one design aspect that is ignored by many. Although not given a lot of thought to, the fonts used have a certain impact and often help your carefully created brand messages well. Fonts have the capability of evoking strong and emotional reactions often.
Apart from this element is the brand image that fonts support. There are plenty of options available from modern minimalist, decorative to downright funky. Font choice depends a lot on your product or service. For instance, if you are an IT firm, you might want to go for a modern and a professional font. The nature of your product or service basically dictates whether the font you go for is a fun and casual one or more on the serious, professional lines.
Choosing the right font has become relatively easy now days. There are several online resources available which can help you with this task. You can visit these websites and download fonts based on search descriptors such as elegant or grunge. The Rise and Fall and Rise of Vaping
Since its inception, the Vaping industry has seen enormous growth; hailed by many as the saviour of smokers, and by extension, the NHS, even government has promoted, and even subsidised this still young enterprise. But last year saw a dramatic turn of events; sales suddenly and inexplicably plummeted, leaving many in the industry fearing for their jobs. The cause of the downturn, it transpired, was the use of illegal substances, mediated by Vaping instruments. But despite the revelation of improper use, it has taken a very long time for the shock and fear to subside, and for the new normal of Vaping to reassert itself. The injection the market so desperately needed came from a very unlikely place...
“When lockdown happened, it was a double-edged sword,” says Matthew Dorkings of Vape Base in Watford. “Overall, we did really well. We’re fortunate in our group not only to have a retail side but B2B side also, where we distribute to shops as well as other online retailers. With lockdown and non-essential shops closing, Vape shops took a massive kick in the guts. On the flipside, all of the online retailers picked up all that business and were booming. Even for our distribution company, the online retail sector was up so much, we ended up making a lot of money. We were very, very busy through lockdown. A lot of other people in business were looking at scaling back and potentially closing their doors, but we were actually recruiting staff during that time. We should count our blessings really.”
This trend appears to be echoed across the industry, with Paul Charlie Clark of SVC Labs in Crawley telling me, “As a B2B manufacturer and distributor, we have noticed significant changes in the Vaping industry due to the nationwide lockdown. Companies who operate solely from ‘brick and mortar’ premises have suffered most, due to this being the exclusive arm of their business. This, in turn, affects the distribution network as a whole; we have seen roughly a 30 - 35% decline in sales from smaller businesses. Many of these companies have been forced to close their doors permanently. However, larger ‘online exclusive’ platforms have seen a rapid growth in sales during this period, largely due to the deficit picked up from smaller businesses."
Search Engine Optimization is huge for any online business, and Vape Base put a lot of time and effort into making sure their site works very fast and is user friendly, ultimately ending up in people’s searches. “With more people turning to the internet to source Vape products, we had to really work on our SEO to make sure we came to the top of peoples’ searches,” says Vape Base’s Kirsten Carroll. “Once we attract new customers, customer service is vitally important to ensure repeat purchases and brand loyalty. These things are all the more important since we did in fact lose customers when our shops had to close down. But we did it, and now that we have secured all those areas, we are consistently on top and doing better than before.”
Though things are good at the moment, everyone at Vape Base is being very cautious: “This is a pretty big bubble we’re having at the moment, and bubbles pop,” warns Matthew. “We’re going to see one of the highest unemployment rates, and it’s going to have a knock-on effect. Unfortunately, the data shows that cigarette smoking is most prevalent among unemployed people, so if they can get cigarettes cheaper, you might see some people going back to cigarettes.”
But is everything a bubble? A few years ago, one in every six pounds spent on retail was spent online. With the recent lockdown, that ratio must have seen some balancing of the scales. Also, those who previously felt an aversion to shopping online would have been forced into doing so by lockdown, and many would have enjoyed the transition. “Not everything is a bubble, no. You have to be aware of trends and stay on top of them. If you’re lucky enough, you can be someone who introduces a trend and have control over it.”
“But it feels like we could be on the edge of things changing, which you’ve just got to be aware of. If there is a second national lockdown, we would see a huge increase again, because unfortunately for them, a lot of our competitors did sadly go under, especially those that had multiple shops in physical locations, they were unable to keep their doors open. So we would see a huge upturn if there was another lockdown, but luckily we’ve put all the necessary procedures in place so we can scale up to it if it arose.”
The world of business seems a brutal, Darwinian environment, where those who fail to adapt, perish. It requires constant vigilance. But for all adversity there is opportunity: “You have to try and take ten steps back, look at what is going on with a bit of perspective and ask yourself, ‘How can I turn this around and make this positive?’ We were fortunate enough to be able to do that.”
“The key is having the right people around you. Keeping an eye on market trends, what the competition is up to, latest government legislation; it’s impossible for one person to do that. So you need a really good, dedicated team who picks up all this information by osmosis and shares it. You have to be good at sharing knowledge so your collective understanding is better.”
The future looks very bright for Vape Base. A trial project is underway, involving direct links with convenience stores. “We believe this is the future of our industry, because we absolutely want our products to help people stop smoking. Where better to sell our products than right alongside cigarettes themselves? The Office for National Statistics and Action Against Smoking data show 60% of all adult smokers want to quit; if you’re selling your product right next to cigarettes, that’s 60% of people who might quit that day, and make it that little bit easier to make the jump, so that’s really exciting.”
“Our industry has a symbiotic relationship with cigarettes; it wouldn’t exist without the tobacco industry, but our aim is to subsume the tobacco industry. If we achieve our goal, there will be no more smokers, which can only be a good thing. There’s roughly 3-3.5million Vapers, and 6.9million smokers, so the ratio has been evening out. The Adult Smoking Survey by the ONS that they’ve been doing since the 70’s has been watching the numbers going down and down, and in the last few years they have been asking questions about Vaping as well. So we’re looking at that data and seeing a direct correlation between their numbers going down and our numbers going up, and that’s really positive.”
Legislation change is also afoot. Next year, the latest Tobacco Products Directive will be released. “Of course, we don’t get access to what those changes will be until they come out, but more regulation of our industry can only be a good thing, and we want people to be safe and have access to high quality products. As long as there are some sensible changes, that will be interesting to adapt to, and could very well be an opportunity for us.”

Great web style is challenging. It requires the balancing of layout, colors, text styles, structure, graphics, images, and usage of interactive features to create a site visitors will want to check out.
Before diving into any real style we should discuss standard style requirements. By the end of our very first meeting/phone call, you will have decent working knowledge of all the aspects that will or can enter into your own successful web site. Plus how they will integrate functions on your landing pages that will generate more service for you.
Mentioning marketing and list building, a big part of the task that is undertaken by proLocal Web Providers includes the inclusion of extremely important seo (online search engine optimisation) and schema (the little pieces of digital details that Google enjoys a lot). Without that part of the build you will require the services of an seo company for a complete audit and seo project. When your website is complete, all that will be needed are the backlinks, citations and social signals to rank your website pages. This can be included in your plan for a smaller cost than if added on later on.

7 Effective Ways to Rank Number 1 This Year
It’s time you start working on your SEO to get the edge over your competition coming into 2019 and by following these 7 tips we are about to share with you, you will see a huge increase in traffic, conversions and SERP ranking.
Tumblr media
1. Pre-emptive SEO
A lot of digital marketers try to jump on various trends once they have already gained a lot of traction. They will see what topics are trending by using tools such as BuzzSumo or Google Trends, however more often then not there will already be a lot of competition around those particular topics.
2. Content Clustering
Google’s current algorithms are rewarding sites that are producing strong content and have it all focused on niche topics. Content clustering is a method of on-site Search Engine Optimization (SEO )that simply revolves around changing the structure of your site.
3. Google Search Console
If you are not already using Google Search Console don't worry. As described by Google, Google Search Console is a tool that allows you to monitor and maintain your site’s presence with Google. I like to describe it to my non-IT savvy clients as “putting your website on the map”. It’s a very simple process which you can follow right here. All it requires is a sitemap, which is exactly what it sounds like. It is a map to your site that allows Search Engines to read it better and as such, rank it better.
4. Google Plus
One of Google’s platforms that you will be rewarded greatly for is Google +, this long forgotten (was it ever really there?) social media network is one of your greatest SEO tools. The reason being is that it indexes your content almost immediately, helping you improve SEO fast. What you should be doing is copying all of your social media content from other platforms and posting it to Google + (always make sure you link to your site). You aren’t trying to send a message for a target audience here so there is no need to upload unique content, simply copy and paste and you will see instance.
5. Google Business
Google business is another nifty little tool for your business and contrary to most people’s beliefs, you don’t need a brick and mortar site to set one up. Google business will improve local SEO for anyone searching for related goods and services in your area. It can also contribute to developing a knowledge graph, which is visually appealing and generates more traffic to your site.
6. Video
Google ranks websites that have a low bounce rate and high user retention rate as it is an indicator of your website having strong content and being relevant to your target audience. Google has placed a strong emphasis on the importance of its desire to put the right content in front of its audience by ranking the most relevant sites well. That is why video is essential to improving search engine optimization in 2019; it keeps users on your page longer and reduces your bounce rate.
7. Content
The true key to improving your SEO is improving your content. Every single website should have a blog and videos. I explained the reason behind the video in the section above, and the reason for the blog is just as important. To rank well you need to have high-quality content, be extremely informative and establish yourself as an expert in your niche. So many of my clients have blogs that are posting about absolutely anything within their industry, take a large makeup brand I deal with as an example. They post trends, fashion, eyes, lips, skin care, celebrities, news, animal cruelty, and just about anything that remotely relates.
By posting content across a broad range of subtopics they are unable to establish themselves as an expert in that niche. If they wanted to rank well for “lipstick”, they are going to lose out against a brand that focuses solely on content related to lipstick as Search Engines will identify that site as the most relevant.
