#sends u 20+ texts about mushrooms and plants

@paramythas asked: A notification makes Jade's phone buzz. Then another, and another. Kalim's inability to send only one text at once rears its head once again.

Kalim: Jamil's forcing some of the guys to clean the main room. Kalim: So I decided to help, because it seems kind of mean to make them do all the work.

Something he might not have thought too much about, before, but now strikes him as supremely imbecilic. He's doing his best not to just stand by and stay the same person he always was before.

Kalim: Cleaning is so borinnnng though. Kalim: [attachment]

The picture is of Kalim, settled atop his flying carpet, dusting along the top of a shelf with a befuddled look on his face. It's as if he can't understand how it got so dusty up there.

Kalim: Oh, oops- I think Jamil's mad I'm helping. Kalim: Gotta go! I'll see you later for movie night though! Kalim: [attachment]

Another picture of Kalim flashing a peace sign around the duster in his hand, and a frustrated-looking Jamil in the background. It's the last he gets until a little while later. The Scarabia common room looks almost flawlessly clean- save for the sight of Kalim, a bucket of water upended over his head, his magic carpet shaking more water onto him as he laughs and tries to shove it away to keep the water from spreading onto the other, normal carpets.

generally speaking, jade did not use his phone a lot. not as much as his brother did anyway. and the majority of people knew he was busy- knew not to expect much back until later. so at the first notification, he doesn't give it a second thought, and makes a little note to check it on his break. -- however, at the third ping in his pocket he realizes who it is. and takes a moment to check it, stepping in the back so he isn't in the way of anyone on the floor.

cute. a low hum following, as he admired the photo a moment. the light within scarabia's dorm was so warm, and complimented kalim quite well. after a moment more, jade saves the picture.

he was about to reply when kalim sends another text:

of course, jamil's lack of faith in his ability was hardly an issue before. jade thought so little of it-- but now it was annoying. he was always on his best behavior whenever he visited the dorm. but the occasional jab could not be helped. he knows there is more to the two of them than he's privy to. but that doesn't change anything, and does not justify the way jamil went about it. it was too far, even for them--

jade: Yes, I will see you later. 😊

then, he saves that photo too. because he can't not save it, as he has most of the others kalim has sent him. and just in time for his brother to hook his chin over his shoulder-- and peek at his phone. jade manages to turn the screen off before floyd actually absorbs any of what he saw. and instead reaches over to pinch his cheek and give it a tug. " and you get on me for slacking off while i'm spose to be working, cmon man. " jade shoves him with a hand to his face, and slips away.

" it was important floyd. " he smiles, then leaves back out to the front.
