As a premier platform for selling pre-owned luxury goods, we at Confidential Couture understand the unique value and emotional connection you have with your high-end possessions.
In this blog, we will explore four compelling reasons why now is the perfect time to sell your luxury items and how Confidential Couture makes the process seamless, profitable, and satisfying. Whether you are looking to sell your Chanel bag online, find a new home for your LV bag, or ensure your Hermes handbags and Rolex watches are appreciated by new owners, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
Maximize Market Value: The luxury resale market is booming, and demand for high-quality, pre-owned luxury goods like Chanel, LV, Hermes, and Rolex is at an all-time high. By selling your items now, you’re likely to get a better return on your investment, especially with the expert valuation and pricing strategies offered by Confidential Couture.

This sustainable approach aligns perfectly with the rising trend of eco-conscious consumerism.
Revamp Your Style: Fashion is an ever-evolving art form. Selling your pre-owned luxury items, like designer bags and luxury watches, provides you with the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe. It’s a chance to let go of pieces you no longer use and make room for new, exciting additions that better suit your current style and needs.

Tumblr media
The market for pre-owned luxury goods is booming. This surge is driven by a growing appreciation for sustainable fashion, a desire for unique and rare items, and the increasing accessibility of online platforms for selling luxury goods. When you sell your Chanel bag online or part with your LV and Hermes handbags, you’re tapping into a market filled with eager buyers looking for that perfect piece to complete their collection. The demand for these iconic brands rarely wanes, ensuring that your items hold their value remarkably well.
Why Now?
Sustainability: Modern consumers are increasingly eco-conscious, preferring to buy secondhand to reduce waste.
Exclusivity: Discontinued or limited-edition pieces, especially from brands like Chanel, LV, and Hermes, are in high demand.
Online Accessibility: With the rise of trusted online marketplaces, it’s easier than ever to reach a global audience of potential buyers.
2. Maximize Returns on Investment
Tumblr media
Luxury items, particularly those from storied brands like Rolex, are more than just fashion statements; they’re investments. Like any investment, there comes a time to cash in. Selling your Rolex watch online or parting with luxury handbags can yield substantial returns, especially if the item has been well-maintained or has appreciated due to rarity or demand.
Why Now?
Market Trends: The luxury resale market is experiencing a golden era, with prices for certain items at an all-time high.
Condition Value: The better the condition of your item, the higher the price it can command. If your luxury items are well-kept, now might be the ideal time to sell.
Economic Factors: In uncertain economic times, liquidating assets like luxury watches can provide financial flexibility.
3. Simplify and Refresh Your Collection
Tumblr media
Selling your luxury items like designer bags and secondhand luxury pieces can be a liberating experience. It’s an opportunity to declutter your collection, keeping only those pieces that you truly love and use. This process not only simplifies your wardrobe but also gives you the chance to refresh your collection with new items that better suit your current style or lifestyle needs.
Why Now?
Changing Trends: Fashion and personal tastes evolve. Selling items that no longer align with your style makes room for new pieces.
Lifestyle Changes: Life events like moving, career changes, or family expansion can necessitate a reevaluation of your luxury collection.
Emotional Release: Letting go of items that are no longer used can be emotionally freeing and simplifying.
Tumblr media
The digital age has revolutionized how we buy and sell luxury items. Platforms dedicated to selling pre-owned luxury watches and other luxury items have made it easier and safer to reach a wider audience. These online marketplaces offer authentication services, ensuring buyers’ confidence and helping sellers get the best possible price for their items.
Why Now?
Global Reach: Online platforms give you access to buyers from around the world, increasing the chances of finding the right buyer willing to pay the right price.
Convenience: Selling online is convenient, allowing you to manage the sale from the comfort of your home.
Security: Reputable online marketplaces provide secure transactions and authentication services, ensuring a safe selling experience.

April, 2024 | Shetland lace shawl
Tumblr media
Hi there! It’s been a while. I’ve been kept busy by all my university work…and this shawl.
The shawl is knitted to celebrate the wedding of my friend (now friends, I should say). A wedding is really the perfect excuse for all the heritage crafts and heirloom projects that might seem too serious to gift in other occasions. I did ask the recipient beforehand if she would like it, though, and I was so, so honoured that I got an enthusiastic ‘yes’. I’m sure this sentiment is shared by many makers, whatever gift they are making.
Shetland fine openwork, a knitted lace, seems to have emerged with the beginning of the reign of Queen Victoria, who championed and popularised the craft. It was probably spread from the Isle of Unst to other parts of Shetland. What surprised me the most when I first read about it was that Shetland shawls and other lace pieces were largely exported as luxury items and rarely worn by islanders themselves. Women bought yarn from spinners and knitted mostly in their homes. They then took them to local merchants and exchange the finished objects for goods or (commonly after the 1880s) money to supplement the household income. The ‘supplement’ nature of this work probably means it was not compensated as much as a job outside the home would be for the same hours and skills. Besides, it was not always easy to spin an even 1-ply yarn at 1600 metres per 100 grams. For a piece of knitting with a large ‘plain’ area (i.e. only knit stitches), the unevenness was impossible to hide but could only be discovered after the area was worked. Then the maker had to either frog (unravel) the area or continue with the risk of the whole piece not being able to sell.
Whilst it is very reasonable to point out that Shetland ladies did not usually wear this type of lace (I’ve been to the Scottish Highlands once, in summer, and it was not fine lace weather), I imagine that at least for some, it wasn’t just about making money. Some sort of fulfilment must have been from the satisfaction of having a piece ‘properly done’ by continuing and adapting a traditional pattern, technique or material. I think this sort of satisfaction is also why many modern knitters are willing to spend hundreds of hours on lacework.
Intricate handknitted lace items can still be bought today (a quick search on Etsy would show many are form eastern European countries with a long and prominent craft tradition), but many are knitted for friends or family members. It always makes me so happy to see people share the gifts they have made, whether big or small, simple or complex. I joke with my online craft friends that no handmade fibre project can claim to be so unless they have a hair or two woven into it. It is the proof of existence for the maker, who tries to go against the irregular nature of handicrafts and, at the same time, accepts it. It is about wrapping up hours, weeks or months in one’s life, along with the songs they have listened to and the perfume they have worn and the memories they have made, and putting it squarely in someone else’s hands and saying: ‘All this, for you.’
Tumblr media
A Wedding Shawl
I have not read anything about there being a standard form of ‘wedding shawl’ in the Shetland tradition. However, there is definitely a category of square shawls with similar sizes and a few construction methods. The samples I’ve seen mostly measure 1.5-2m on one side and have three parts: a central panel, four borders and a strip of edging. It is worked flat in garter lace from centre out.
Neither is there a standardised yarn weight. A widely available yarn is the Shetland Supreme Lace Weight 1-ply by Jamieson and Smith, which weighs at 400m/25g. The Queen Ring Shawl examined by Sharon Miller used a yarn at 700m/25g. From my experience, if you want the shawl to be a true ring shawl (i.e. you want to be able to pull the shawl through a ring) at the size of the Queen Ring Shawl (210cm on the side), go for 700m/25g or finer.
I chose a rectangular shawl because I had very limited time, but I did enlarge it because for me, an abundance of fabric does mean an abundance of cozy happiness.
Pattern
Shell Grid and Spider Webs Puzzle, pattern No.19 in the book Shetland Knitting Lace by Toshiyuki Shimada.
The names of the motifs are confusing. One motif (or two highly similar motifs) might just have two different names if they are produced in two different regions. Names do not mean everything, but I’ve had fun trying to match the motifs with names according to this article by Carol Christiansen at the Shetland Museum.
The double yarnovers (YO's) in the diamonds were called Cat's Eye, but perhaps the 'Spider Web' in the pattern name is referring to the three rows of double YO's in the centre panel. It has a really simple but effective edging.
Tumblr media
Yarn
Mermaid Lace, in colourway #naturel, sold by Great British Wool in the Netherlands. This yarn is 75% merino and 25% sea algae silk. ‘Sea algae silk’ seems to be a semi-synthetic plant fibre like viscose, with algae involved as part of the raw material. (At this price point I don’t think it has anything to do with sea silk, which is fibre produced by actual shells.) The brand name for the most popular product of its type is probably Seacell.
I bought the yarn, because I had never worked with this fibre before and was curious. What I like: it was a little cheaper than a wool/silk blend and has blocked very well. The whole skein was continuous so I didn’t have to deal with a single yarn joint. What I do not like: it lacks the sheen and smoothness of real silk and doesn’t feel as strong, although it doesn’t shed. In conclusion, I’d rather use a traditional Shetland 1-ply or another natural fibre yarn.
It's also worth mentioning that whilst I prefer to support small businesses, it was disappointing to have received a 93-gram skein when I had ordered 100 grams. It was one of those days between Christmas and the New Year and I somehow did not contact the customer service, but I really should have.

Needle
2.5mm 80cm circular needles. See modification below.
Modification
This Japanese knitting book follows Japanese sizing for knitting needles. The suggested size was no. 1=2.4mm. I figured that I could use a 2.5mm since I knitted on the tighter side, and in any case it was probably okay to make the lacework a little more open by going up a needle size.
I am not going to give out the pattern, but it is probably necessary to explain the structure of this shawl. The centre is knitted first, and then an edging is knitted onto it by picking up either live stitches or the vertical edge of the centre as you go (see schematic below). The four ‘corners’ of the edging have short-row shaping to help it lay flat. I know that traditionally people can achieve this by other methods, but I haven’t tried any of those yet.
I enlarged the pattern by increasing both the width and the length. I casted on 133 stitches instead of 101 for the centre panel and knitted Part B 8.5 times instead of 5.5. The spider web pattern in Part B requires the stitch count to be (something dividable by four) plus two, so I made one central increase before the spider web to get 134 and a central decrease after it to get it back to 133. Due to the openness of the lace, the change of one stitch is not visible.
The enlargement meant I had to recalculate the edging as well, because the number of stitches available for pick-up changed. Originally, at each corner you do two repeats with four short-row shaping each. I did 1.5 repeats following the original placement of short-row shaping in order to make the total number of repeats fit the number of edge stitches on the centre panel.
The pattern says to Kitchener-stitch the last row of the edging to the provisional cast-on. It just didn’t make sense because that would be two rows too much (the Kitchener stitch row plus the provisional cast-on row). To make the number perfectly fit, I knitted only ten rows of the last repeat (there were usually twelve in each repeat). Then I Kitchener-stitched the end to the provisional cast-on, following the lace pattern. I am quite proud of this solution because it is completely invisible.
Somewhere in the pattern it said to purl (looking from the right side). It seemed strange because the rest of the lace was entirely garter. I knitted those stitches and so far I haven’t sensed a ‘mistake’.
The pattern originally calls for 45 grams of yarn. I estimated (based on the increase of stitches in the centre panel) to need about 80 grams. I ended up using 86 grams. Besides the inaccuracies in my estimation, it was probably also because I knitted much more loosely than expected as it was difficult to tension the yarn tightly at such a weight. Like I've point out in the Yarn section above, I was lucky not to have needed more than 93 grams.
The original finished size is 53*118cm. I ended up with approximately 70*170cm.

Conclusion
This shawl took about three months of my craft time i.e. one full day every week for three months and many mornings before I had to leave for university. Knitting outside my room just didn’t work because I was a) engaged in some other activities that made it difficult to steady my hands, and b) worried about putting a white shawl on any public surface.
The pattern itself is relatively straightforward. The first difficulty was, of course, to understand the instruction written in Japanese. Google translate was horrible so I had to rely on my knitting experience. Fortunately, much of the text description was also found in graphs and charts. Then I had to get my hands used to the tiny yarn. After that, it was only fiddly when I did the edging, because I had to turn about every twelve stitches, and by that time I was handling a giant cloud of stitches on my lap. It did give me a lot of time to go over my favourite documentaries and films, and the last bit of edging was surprisingly quick!
Traditionally, Shetland shawls could be sent back to the maker for maintenance. I think it only fair for me to offer that too because I don’t want a gift to become a trouble (same as how you do not use non-machine-washable yarn for baby knits).
In general, I am very pleased with this shawl. It does pass the ring test, despite not being a traditional wedding shawl size or thickness. I do have a whole lot of actual Shetland 1-ply in my stash, so I am really looking forward to taking my Queen Ring Shawl project out of hibernation in the near future.

Bad news, folks: the local coffee roastery has gone tits up. They moved entirely online, because "running an entire store" is ludicrously expensive unless you're selling a luxury good like memory-foam mattresses or horse clothes. All this means that I can't get my nice, cheap, local coffee anymore, because the internet is terrifying, and I refuse to pay shipping for religious reasons.
Some people are huge snobs about coffee, but not me. I'll drink whatever crankcase shit has been hanging out since 1986 in the three-gallon dispenser at the back of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Gets the humours moving just as well as any of your expensive bags of exotic foreign coffee that came out of a cat's butthole.
My money is better spent elsewhere, which is why the proprietor, Mr. Perque, would give me his special Cheap-Ass Blend, made entirely of the floor sweepings and burned garbage that he couldn't otherwise sell for human consumption. I had to sign a waiver.
Why did he sell it to me, then? He appreciated my candour about the state of the coffee industry, most likely. We also had done some work together, like the weekend when I got zooted up on what he called "Extreme Alertness" blend and put a junkyard-pulled Eaton M90 supercharger on the back of his grinder in about two hours. I still remember not being able to sleep for a few days after, during which I slap-dashed together about two dozen more abominations to mechanical engineering and/or the fantasy of a benevolent creator.
All this is to say that, Mr. Perque, I'll take a couple bags of the Cheap-Ass Blend if you will just let me know where you are hiding right now. I know you're afraid after what happened last time, but I've changed. I'll put some water in the coffee from now on.

The live lasted just over 2 hours before the boys finally signed off. They had given all their announcements and answered as many questions as they could.
I noticed that no one gave me any more questions to answer. Most likely because STAYs responses upset everyone so much last time I answered a question. Still, I participated in the conversations and even asked questions of my own occasionally.
As soon as the camera was off Chan swept me off Seungmins lap and spun me, hopping little hops in his excitement. “You did so good! Ahhh!” he wiggled a bit, making my body flop side to side slightly.
“Christopher, oh my god!” I laughed loudly. Truth was I was tired and my muscles sore from my panic attack. I was ready to soak in the tub with a good book and my new phone.
“You were amazing. You handled STAY very well.” Hyunjin emphasized.
“I did okay.” I amended. Chan set me on my feet. “I did have a panic attack. Thank you for covering for me, by the way.”
“No need to thank us. Really.” Han said giving me a hug. “And you still did the live in the end, which is impressive.”
“We should celebrate.” Hyunjin declared. “Let’s go shopping!”
I scoffed, picking up my bag of electronics and turning to leave. “Shopping for what?”
“Stuff to decorate your room.”
I paused mid step. “My room?”
“Did you think we would keep that room as a guest room?” Lee Know asked.
I blinked, thrown off. I hadn’t thought about there being a ‘my room’. “Isn’t it taboo for you to be seen shopping or something? Don’t you usually shop online?”
Chan shrugged. “Not really taboo per say. It’s just more private to shop online.” He said.
“You’re talking about like Walmart or Target, right? Do you have Target here?” I really needed to learn my new home a little better. There were probably stores here I had never even heard of.
Hyunjin gave me a over the top disgusted look. “We are not going there! Are you nuts!”
“There is nothing wrong with Walmart and Target! Bougie ass.”
“He likes interior decorating. Knows all the best places.” Changbin informed proudly, slinging an arm around Hyunjins shoulders.
“My HyunBin heart is all aflutter!” I clutched my chest and swooned dramatically.
“Oh, you’re a shipper? Who do you ship? Me and Lino?” Han asked.
“Everyone. I honestly love all the ships and seeing everyone’s relationship with each other.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone ships everyone. Are we shopping? I know this amazing place not too far away.” Hyunjin gushed showing me his phone where he had a very posh looking storefront pulled up. It looked like it had some truly beautiful items, but we were jumping the gun a little. And I truly was tired.
“Slow your roll. I have plenty of stuff at home.” I just had to get it shipped here is all.
His face fell into a pout. He had honestly gotten excited about decorating my room. “Okay, we can shop online for a few things tonight.” I relented. God, these boys had me wrapped around their fingers, but he perked up a bit, so it’s okay.
“Let’s get changed and get a few more hours of practice in.” Chan ushered everyone from the room.
I was happy to get out of the fancy clothes and back into my comfy ones. I stole some makeup removing wipes and threw my hair into a messy bun with a large smile on my face.
“Theres our beautiful girl!” Changbin kissed my freshly cleaned face on his way by.
My face heated. “Shush! The makeup is gone, it’s just me now.”
“Exactly!” Lee Know responded. I just rolled my eyes.
While the Omegas practiced, I worked on setting up a company to pack my stuff, ship it here or sell/donate it. At the very least I would need my clothes. Before they tried to get me to buy overpriced luxury brand clothing. Though I’m sure I would be forced to wear those too. At least when I was in the public eye.
The new tablet was a very nice one. Already loaded with my preferred editing programs and everything. The socials on all the devices were set up differently than I was used to. One, everything was in Korean. Two, I had the official check mark next to my usernames. The coveted check mark everyone seemed to want. And I got it so fast and easy. I no longer followed anyone, had any posts, or any followers. Well, all my followers were brand new I should say. Within minutes of my reveal, they started finding me. Netizens were the best online detectives out there.
I shrugged and uploaded the pictures I took earlier to pick one to post. Might as well, it was odd to have socials that were totally empty. Odder that some people decided to follow anyways.
I was careful with the photo. A group action shot of the Omegas dancing. I inspected it very carefully to make sure there was nothing bad in it. No rude gestures or things in the background or mirror reflections. Then I posted it.
Curiosity got the better of me and I went to the comment section of the recent live to see what STAY had to say about me. I braced myself, already knowing it was bad, but unable to help myself. The comments were exactly as I expected.
Tumblr media
I closed the app. Even though I was expecting it and braced myself, it still stung. It hurt to see all the hateful things my fellow STAY said about me. I always felt a bond with other STAYs, but this felt like a betrayal. And they confirmed all my worst fears. I wasn’t good enough for Stray Kids and I was turning STAY against them.
-
It took a week for the company I hired to get my things to me. We came home late from practice to several very large boxes addressed neatly to me.
“Yay, my stuff!” I hopped and clapped in excitement. I had been impatiently waiting. I started shoving the first box towards my room.
“Does this mean we have to go back to our own rooms?” Felix asked pouting slightly as he looked at the boxes.
The Omegas have yet to spend a night in their own rooms since I left. It was something we never really talked about. And I think we all secretly dreaded the day they would be forced to sleep in a different room again. Myself included. I had grown accustomed to their comforting presences while I slept. The feeling of safety they brought.
So, I shrugged. “I’m sure I can manage to have enough room for everyone to stay.” Felix looked a little hopeful. “Hyunnie, you wanna help?”
Hyunjin and I had already bought curtains, rugs, and a couple paintings for my room. I have yet to be able to hand or put them up, but we bought them. And tomorrow they had a day off so I could get one of them to help me if we don’t get it finished tonight.
Hyun started pushing another box. The two of us spent the next several hours setting things up in my room and putting away everything.
He got a good kick out of the boxes of carefully packed Stray Kids merch he found. “Oh my god! You have an entire wardrobe for every Skzoo!” He held up my Jiniret and made it wiggle.
I sucked my teeth and snatched Jiniret back. “Don’t tease! You know I was a fan before all this happened.” I pouted and petted Jinirets head.
“Aww, I’m sorry!” Hyunjin pulled me to his chest and rubbed my back. “Don’t pout. I was only kidding around. I won’t do it again.”
True to his word, he didn’t tease while hanging my numerous Stray Kids shirts. Though I did catch him smirking to himself multiple times.
The others came and went. Helping to hand some shelves and my macrame ceiling swing. By the time it was time for bed, everyone being exhausted, the only things left to do were to hang my curtains and build my desk. And Hyun had fun interior decorating my room with me. Brutally honest but had a good eye.
And though it was a bit more cramped, the boys were still able to make up their beds to stay with me for the night. I was happy about that, truthfully a little scared to sleep alone again.
-
For the first time since bonding with Stray Kids, I was allowed to sleep in and wake up naturally. The boys were already awake and enjoying their day off. I could hear the TV going in the living room through my open door. Hannie was laying on his stomach next to me on the bed, reading quietly. Felix was on one of the makeshift beds nearby playing his game system, Changbin also nearby on his laptop.
“Morning. Coffees in the kitchen.” Felix greeted half distracted.
I hummed in thanks and reached out to ruffle his hair. He leaned into my touch, eyes never leaving the screen his game was on.
With a stretch, I got started with the day. There were things that needed to be done today, while I had the time. My desk and curtains needed to be built and hung, and I needed to go through my clothes with the others to find suitable stuff to pack for the tour. My day off was full of things that needed to get done.
My stacking the makeshift beds out of the way chased the 3 Omegas from the room, who didn’t want to get roped into helping clean and were sick of being told to move so I could continue my task.
Hyun, Chan, Lee Know, and Seungmin were watching TV in the living room while multitasking. Hyun was drawing on his nails with Chan. Lee Know was on his phone, absorbed in whatever it was he was doing. And Seungmin was plucking at his guitar and writing in a notebook laying on the cushion beside him occasionally.
Han had gone to his room to continue to read, Felix had started a game with I.N, and Changbin now sat at the table, still working on his laptop.
“Can any of you take a moment to help me with my curtains?” I asked the apartment in general.
“My nails are still wet. Later?” Hyun replied wagging his fingers at me. Chan did the same to demonstrate that his were also wet.
“Let me just finish this. I’m onto something.” Seungmin mumbled while writing.
Changbin reached out and squeezed my hand. “I really need to catch up on this, sweetie. Maybe in a little bit when I finish.”
“After this round!” I.N called for both him and Felix.
Han and Lee Know didn’t even answer me. Too absorbed in what they were doing to even hear me.
I shrugged and sighed. This was their day off; they should spend it how they wanted. It was unfair of me to ask at all. They have been working extremely hard and deserved a break. I could do this on my own. It wasn’t rocket science.
That being said, the directions to build my desk might as well be in hieroglyphics. I sat surrounded by desk pieces. No idea where to even begin. This might be harder than rocket science. This might be impossible.
For my own sanity and to soothe my Omegas I took breaks often to check in with them. Running a hand along their back or fingers through their hair to reestablish and reinforce our connection.
It took 3 hours, but eventually I stood facing a built desk proudly, hands on my hips. I took the next half hour to set up my desk. Using decorating as a reward for a job well done. I loved setting up my cute, cozy workspaces with my favorite things. Making this little space a place I wanted to work at.
When I went out to see everyone again, I noticed they were still busy enjoying their day. The gaming had migrated to the living room where Hyunjin and Seungmin had joined in, playing multiplayer. Han had finished his book and joined Changbin on his laptop, discussing quietly amongst themselves. The others were spread around watching the game or on their phones. I wasn’t going to interrupt them to ask for help again. It was just hanging curtains; I could do it myself.
I stole a dinning chair to stand on. If I placed the chair in the middle of the window, I should be able to reach both ends without needing to climb on and off the chair a dozen times. And I should be able to tell if they were straight from there too. I put together an entire desk, surely, I can hang some curtains.
The window was wider than I originally thought, and I really had to stretch to reach the top edges in order to put up the curtain rod. It was tricky getting the nails in at the odd angle and the chair wobbled under my feet, but I was cautious.
One side complete I marked the other and leaned back to check if it was even. Last thing I needed was uneven curtains to bother the hell out of me every time I saw them.
It was good I checked too because the second side was a good 2 inches lower than the first side. I adjusted my markings and shifted back to check them again, more confident in this placement.
There was a moment of pure fear as my calves hit the back of the chair unexpectedly, and I windmilled my arms to try and keep my balance with no luck. I gasped and braced as I flipped over the back of the chair and landed on my upper back and hit my head. Landing right on my box fan. I heard the telltale snaps of plastic before everything went black and peaceful. (A/N: safety first! When using a chair to stand on, make sure the back is facing the wall/in front of you, so this does not happen!)

working as a student
having flexible and uncommitted jobs as a student is crucial if you want to do well in your studies! so many students struggle to balance making money and studying (especially if you're in a rigorous field) - especially when you don't have the luxury of living at your parents' house or being on a finance plan.
committed jobs with strict schedules can add stress, especially during exam periods. additionally, this allows you to try a broad range of skills, which can be valuable for your future career.
here are some examples of flexible jobs/gig jobs:
✧.* babysitting/nannying/petsitting: these roles often have flexible hours,, and can be good to get you out of your comfort zone
✧.* tutoring: offering tutoring services in subjects you excel in can be done on your own schedule, either in person or online. this can also help you revise!
✧.* freelance writing/editing: although a lot of freelance responsibility has been overtaken by ai, many projects are still available to take on that allow you to work from anywhere, making it easy to balance your studies.
✧.* freelance graphic design: if you have design skills, you can take on projects as they come, working from home or school.
✧.* seasonal jobs: positions such as holiday retail work or summer camp counselling can provide you with cash (and experience), although they are not suitable to balance at the same time as your studying.
✧.* creating content online: this can be in the form of a youtube channel, instagram account, tiktok account or blog. with hard work and quality content, you can get monetized and earn money.
some more ideas include stock photography/videography, selling handmade crafts, selling digital products, voice acting, and providing transcription services.
personally, i prefer creative jobs since it is a good balance between study and work - but sometimes they are hard to earn money from. always try multiple things and test the waters before settling down.
i hope this was helpful. ❤️nene

Salvatore | 2.8k

ao3 | masterlist ✦ Pairing: DI!Leon Kennedy x younger f! reader ✦ Summary: Leon's on a working trip and it has been taking much longer than it should. As he doesn't like to spend much time away from you, he texts you daily, and since you miss him so deeply, you decide to videocall him. ✦ TW: NSFW, !MINORS DNI!, smut, porn with bit of context, explicit, f!reader, little to none f! physical appearence descriptions, masturbation, fingering, age gap mentions, daddy ass Leon
A/N: I have nothing to say in my defense, but that this might have two parts. Cause Leon's flying back home and dunno, you're still horny af, plus I wasn't sure of how to correctly incorporate the song to the post buttt I think Salvatore is my top 1 Leon song. So!
A disgrace of a man he had become ever since he met you, fell under your spell. Leon wasn’t used to staying away from you for this long — the trip was taking longer than expected. A week ago he had flown to Washington for the meeting of annual reports on DSO’s damage control. This type of trip did not usually take more than one or two days, and he had assured you that he would be back by the weekend. He had promised, you made plans and he usually did not breach the promises he made to you; he didn't like to fluster you. You were too good to him, he’d always tell you that. Too good, so good. You wouldn’t complain about his absence, you knew he was a busy man, a well-trained and well-requested agent — your much older boyfriend.
Every time that word danced on your red beautiful lips, he swore to feel a punch in the lower portion of his belly. Was he not too old to be dating in the most vivid sense of the word? To have a girl as young, beautiful, lively as you call someone like him a boyfriend? You liked to say, to recite; it made you delighted to watch the reactions, no: the age difference was never a problem for you.
It was a problem to him in the beginning. Leon resisted; he tried to resist you for longer than he could remember. Weeks maybe. He felt defeated, weak for giving up, but how could he not? When your eyes would met his with that devilish expression, all his control fell to the ground — he was yours.
The room door opened, and he made his way in. It was a spacious room, at least; a quality hotel. You would love that place, he thought. The luxurious furniture, the soft linen and the numerous pillows – the privileged view of the White House. He opened a corner smile as he thought of your reaction if you were there. You were one expensive little thing; before anything else, he took his phone out of his pocket and took a picture out of the window. He sent to your contact, affectionately saved by yourself as bae.
Your status immediately changed to “online” when your phone rang and you noticed it was his text you were receiving. On the other side of the country, you opened up a foolish little smile lying on your bed. “Like it, doll?” his text said, and your smile grew wide.
You rolled down lying on your belly, and typed your answer.
“Don’t do that to me... I’d sell a kidney to be there with you right now.” you typed, and opened a smile knowing that you had ripped out a sincere laugh from him with your little hyperbole.
Leon laughed briefly. Your mood was indeed extremely funny to him, jokes that sometimes you would have to explain after doing, since the difference between generations was a barrier to the two of you at least in that matter.
The agent left his already half tired body fall on the armchair that lay in front of the bed, large enough for at least three of him. The blue blazer that decorated his body was quickly thrown aside and he dropped down a few buttons of the white social shirt that came down below, the first portions of his now visible defined chest decorated by the blonde hair that grew around there. As he stretched out to the stand table — a small bar with a few varieties of whisky — and started pouring himself a good cup of Bourbon, his phone rang again.
After the first drop came down burning through his throat, he opened the latest message you had sent. “Can I call you?”, it was asking.
He licked his lips tasting the taste of alcohol in his mouth, and pressed the FaceTime video call button. It took no more than three seconds for you to respond.
His eyes were fixed on the screen of his phone. God in fucking heaven, it was a torture to see you like that, he thought. A torture. You were lying on your bed, overlooked; your hair was slightly messy, your pyjamas fell perfectly on your curves, the delicate silk fabric outlined your body like a sculpture drawn particularly to fuck his mind. He opened a smile when he saw the view of you, the lower of his belly kicking in just again. Seeing you like that, laying ever so beautiful, your body so exposed, in a situation like the one he was in right now: unable of touching, unable of even seeing you straight. That was somewhat torture.
“How are you, babe? You look tired.” You asked, resting your face on your hand, a small smile decorating your lips. Leon drank another long sip of his whisky.
“It’s nothing, doll. This hell of a meeting, is all...” he murmured, crossing his legs and mindfully staring at you behind the screen. “I’m sorry, I won’t make it to the weekend.”
“Oh no...” You shuddered back, your look becoming frustrated in a matter of seconds. “Why are they holding you, did something happen?” You asked furrowing your eyebrows; it was your habit to ask, even if you knew he’d never give an answer.
“You know I can’t talk to you about that, darling...” He murmured, with a slightly defeated smile on his face, and continued, “I’ll be there Sunday night. I promised.”
You sigh, frustrated and defeated sigh, but agreed. As always, how good you were to him. The silence only lasted for a few seconds before he spoke again in a calm and quiet tone.
“Are you mad at me?”
“I can’t be mad at you. It’s not even your fault...” You argued, shrugging your shoulders quickly, and your eyes focused for a few seconds on the open part of his shirt – a silent invitation.
“You’re so good to me. I’ll compensate you, I promise.” he said in that soft spoken, deep voice.
He knew exactly what he was doing. He knew exactly what he did to you, how he would put you in your place, how it would make you squirm in want and lust and call for him in your dreams whenever he was that far from you.
There, dropped in that chair, Leon held the cell phone at the height of his knee, his eyes looking down to where his eyes found him behind the screen; he rested one hand on his face, in the encounter of his jaw with his neck.
You could follow the well-defined drawings of his chest through the little exposed skin by the already undone buttons, his biceps that seeming to ask to explode out through all that fabric. Your eyes went down through his chest to the path of heaven that made the encounter between his belly and his crotch. You bite your own tongue. If you closed your eyes now, you could perfectly imagine how you would make him twist in your mouth. What a mess.
“You can compensate me now.” you said, after licking your lips. How could you taste the alcohol of his mouth on yours, if the two of you were more than kilometers away? How could he fuck up your head to make himself printed on you like that?
“How would I do that, babe? Can’t eat you out through the phone.” he smirked, a little smile spreading across his lips noticing your eagerness for him. You were such a fucking fool - couldn’t hide a single feeling, damn.
You slowly flashed, and then got up a little bit by placing your phone in front of your pillow so that you could film yourself without using your hands. Leon raised his eyebrows in surprise when you slowly took your hand through the soft skin of your belly now exposed through the tiny shirt you wore, and began to raise it, gently, almost so slowly that you could now feel his excitement emanating from his look; his eyes burning, his stomach twirling inside in desire. It didn’t take you much to get him on the edge as you so knew from the plenty of times he couldn’t wait for the two of you to get home before fucking the brains out of you against the first car, table or wall he’d see.
“Can’t you? You seem like you are right now.” You smirked, and your hand went further up, beneath the thin fabric of your shirt. You palmed your breast and he could see the shape of your flesh changing as you tightened, more, stronger. Leon stretched his fists, almost able to feel the warm skin of your breasts against him; he could almost feel himself tracing kisses through your neck, bites, leaving marks that you would spend makeup trying to erase. Cupping your breast with his perfect-sized hand, suckling, making you squirm under him.
“Doll,” he said in a slightly alarmed tone. “Don’t do that to me. Don’t torture me like this.” He whispered, his blue eyes like the sea attached to the screen, to you.
To your body, that he knew: belonged to him. You made that clearer when you started to climb the shirt even further, until you finally crossed it through your neck and threw it to the side. He couldn’t see your face anymore, only your body – you soft breasts, the inviting skin of your belly, the curves that formed your waist, those delicious hips, devilish thighs. You started becoming more and more drenched the more you showed more of yourself to him.
“Please... I need you so fucking much.” you pleaded, your voice muffled by the sounds of your panting.
You liked the obscene look he played at you when he saw you that way. One of your hands continued to massage one of your breasts, your nipples began to express the intensity of your own desire as punctual as they could be; you felt shrinking whole when your free hand began to descend through the lines that surrounded your uterus to the lower belly, inside the tiny, thin short you dared to call a pyjama.
“You’ll kill me.” He replied licking his lips, his hand reached the remaining buttons of his shirt and he opened it completely. You could see by the emerging volume in his pants that you were not the only one burning in desire right now. Leon grabbed the volume of the bulge in his pants with one hand, in a frustrated attempt to ease the tension; the movement caused his breath to shrink for a moment and he released a low, needy moan.
“Spread them for me, babe let me see you.” he told you, and you took it in.
You slowly sat on the bed, spreading up your legs as he had asked you, supporting your feet by the bed on the sides of the phone, completely exposed; the fabric of your shorts, alone, was not able to prevent Leon from seeing the perfect curves of your folds, the small well that formed in the fabric in your cunt. He opened up an almost demonic smile. You were not wearing panties.
“Oh, fuck, babe...” He moaned, his hands beginning to shake off the belt of his social pants. “Move it aside for me...” he asked, almost in a flustered sigh, as he let the belt fall freely on the sides of his body and unbuttoned the zipper of his pants with some hurry. At the moment he finally relaxed and released a desperate breath, you could see the perfect format of his cock ever so big, stretching the fabric of his white boxers. You felt your mouth salivate instinctively, and held back a moan of excitement. With one of your arms, you supported your elbow behind you, bending your body back and with your free hand, you pulled aside the central part of your shorts, exposing to him your needy, wet pussy. Your fingers traced a way through your folds to the core of your pleasure - your throbbing and twitching clit.
Your face flushed in redness as you let your head fall back, but quickly bringing it back to staring at your phone where you could already see Leon’s hard cock twitching through the camera; in addition to your excruciating and burning desire, you could see the entire length, could picture yourself swallowing every inch of his right now.
“See how you get me? You little evil thing… Play yourself to me, come on, do your
show…” He growled in a hoarse voice, slowly spitting at the glistening tip of his member, reddened by the need and the blood pulsating, his skin burning. “I’d go to that airport and advance my flight just to fuck you, god…” he continued, while his hand rushed from the tip to the base of his cock, spreading his spit through the length and starting to pump in slow alluring movements.
You couldn’t hold yourself from moaning near that man, you could barely hold your breath - your movements became instinctive when you were with him. Whenever he’d be behind you in the kitchen, mornings after a good night out - he’d call himself an oldie and complain about being tired, and the second next proceed to pin you against the counter and eat you up from behind. Just the thought of his tongue against you made you squirm on your own hand, circling movements starting by your index and middle fingers against your sensible clit.
The muffled moans of his, your panting voice, the little sound he’d make each time his hand ran through his cock - the two of you got lost in the act, you could almost forget there was an entire country between you and him. The way you’d lose it when he started praising you-
“Good… So good to me, come to me, c’mon”, ah. There it was.
Your eyebrows furrowed in pleasure and you instinctively drawn your hand further lower towards your drenched entrance, stretching yourself, feeling the warmth of your walls that so needily called for him. You couldn’t possibly elaborate a single sentence right now, as your head was up in the sky; Leon had taught you to torture yourself. To hold back till you could no more, to try to postpone your orgasm till you felt your own body breaking down, losing conscience.
He felt himself getting a raw, wild need once he noticed you were in that state he liked to put you in anytime he’d have time to fuck you straight, without a hurry, without the need of being a quickie. Squirming, panting, your body begging you to give in - god.
His movements started to rush up watching the way your folds glistened through the low lightning of your room, your juices rushing down your thighs, the way you couldn’t watch him without your cheeks looking like burning fire on want and desire.
His throat closed and he let his head fall back, for a moment, he got uncontrolled and erratic, his movements so strong you could hear a slight hint of pain in his voice, his stomach started flexing and he grabbed on tight to the chair’s arm, your name came out as a growl as he held to the base of his cock, letting out all of his milky seed spread against his chest, that moved constantly and erratically to his heavy breathing.
Watching him get to his climax was too much for yourself and your personal tactic of torture. As you felt the ravenous feeling of your orgasm start to spread through your thighs, up your belly and down your pussy to the core of your pleasure, you let out, above all things, a soft moan - his name. Your voracious breath got in tune with his, as you bite your lip, your eyes ever so alluring boring into his through the screen, your obscene expression and smile as you pulled your fingers into your mouth and sucked onto them, tasting your own juices, feeling the living proof of your own pleasure.
“You’ll be the death of me.” He muttered, staring into you like a predator while you closed your legs and let out a little content laugh.
-
Leon picked up your call while dragging his baggage through the airport ways to the boarding line. A smile formed across his lips.
“Little darling, I can’t really talk right now… I’m getting to the boarding line, my flight’s in about thirty minutes.” he argued, to which you just smiled.
“I just called to wish you a good flight, bae, that’s all.” You responded. “I’m waiting for you.”
“No no, don’t do that. Don’t stay awake waiting for me, yeah? I’ll be there soon enough, I promise.”
“You know that no matter what you say, I’m going to do the exact opposite. Right? Right, Agent?”, you let out a soft laugh.
He sighed, closing his eyes.
“I know.”

Once again trapped in trying to figure out what Wayne Industries actually Does. "Everything!" yeah sure but they had to get there somehow. Amazon was an online bookstore at first there was a lot of very rapid growth between then and now.
Usually I hear that they started as a shipping business which makes sense when Gotham is 90% waterfront, but at some point they had to transition from just shipping other people's things to shipping things they made as well. I suppose if they started making their own transports for shipping (starting with their own steamboats and later trains and cars) that would make sense. Maybe in the industrial revolution they even bought their own steel mill upon getting tired of having fluctuating prices or a steel shortage and just deciding they were going to get their own damn steel and sell the extra instead. If they chose to manufacture higher quality steel instead of cheapest possible steel that's also laying the groundwork for them to be well liked by their customers. Not railroad barons but making the steel to lay the railroad and build the trains. It's the 1800s so they have a couple patented medicines by then as well that are.... not really medicine but no one has officially noticed yet. They ship their own chemicals out west for a good time.
In 1880s Alan Wayne makes the building that becomes Wayne Tower?? Which I think is much too early, but apparently we were building sky scrapers in 1888 so business must have been booming I fucking guess. This is also the man that has them go corporate.
Of course the railroads start to fall out with the growth of cars and car lobbying. They are still used along with boats for transport but with railroads not being built as much and not being maintained and the union wars, Wayne Industries has to make a pivot somewhere to stay in the race. The family can have a lot of personal money but the business itself is still going strong in Gotham even before Bruce takes over.
I guess if they're already in shipping, they're probably importing as well by then. They may have started with steamboats but then in WWI and WWII all steel factories started producing things for the war efforts, surely they made a couple big ships by then capable of crossing the Atlantic, if they weren't already in oceanic shipping by then. It lets them ride out the great depression because of government maritime subsidies that were a little out of control until the new deal kicked in. That would've also presumably kept WI employees working in the depression and cemented them harder in the city as smaller businesses closed around them.
The patented medicine starts shifting to actual generics that are a little less Heroic post 1918.
Maybe at around that point was when WI started manufacturing... sort of everything. You get your ships, and all the things on board that you need to run a ship. You get your ovens and stoves and big pots and your radar and hell your sailors can even buy their boots and uniforms from us.
When WWII ends they shift back to transporting other people's goods but also maybe more luxury vehicles as well. Cruise services. Some nicer kitchen installations. Kitchens on land even. Get a nice WI electric mixer. Get your waterfront boots. Get your generic ibuprofen.
At that point we're closer to Martha and Thomas' era and they're just... Along for the ride I guess. Thomas is a figurehead CEO. He's off doing medical school and mostly just shows up for formalities, while Martha works in the Wayne Foundation (either the only thing Thomas really made or opened in the 60s to try and get Gotham really booming) as a charity liason. They're still not really celebrities as much as a charismatic couple in high circles. WI doesn't need them to function. It's basically just funding them as they do their own things.
And then the murders happen
And then Bruce, over eighteen, shows up having inherited the figurehead CEO title and his entire family's controlling stock in WI, and announces they're going to be doing things his way now.
The CEO/Board of directors is supposed to do things in the best interest of their stock holders.
If Bruce is the controlling stock holder, they do what he says his best interest is.

hi! apologies if you've been asked this before, but do you have any advice for first time online store owners? i'm thinking about opening one to sell sculptures of my own but i've got no idea where to start, and was wondering if you had any tips to share.
anyways, i love your charming little clay fellows and i hope you have an excellent new year 🤎
i may have been asked it but i can always answer again! tagging this with "clay ask" so you can review past answers
tips:
it's fine to start small and go slow and not optimize everything right away. sculptures are a luxury good and they will usually not immediately start flying off the shelves.
that said: it's nice to track what time you're spending on what. just block it out on google calendar after you're done so you can tot it up at a later time. this tip is super hypocritical but i've done it in the past
i use and like big cartel for my storefront. it doesn't have the fees of etsy or the will sell your stuff twice if people buy it really fast of storenvy. it also doesn't have the discoverability of either, so you'll have to try harder on other social media, but it's a worthwhile tradeoff for me. i don't know anything about shopify and i won't learn
i like pirate ship for shipping labels; it talks directly to big cartel (and a lot of other storefronts!), gets good rates, lets you preview hypothetical packages to check shipping costs, and lets you save package presets. i have a shipping label printer but you should be fine with a regular printer + packing tape.
try to make some reliable size classes of sculpture so you can use a few package settings and not recalculate shipping every time
i try not to buy shipping material from uline because they love trump soooooo soo much. if you have anything local, that's generally a smart call for last minute supply runs, especially because shipping on boxes is spendy. i like upaknship.com for jazzy bubble mailers. i haven't researched their politics but at least they aren't uline
do not put anything particularly delicate in a bubble mailer. i assume you can guess this but a friend once mailed me a plant pot in like. a plastic bag with some shredded paper. so i don't trust what people know about distribution of force in packaging.
you want pressure to be pretty evenly distributed. you don't want anything to be able to twist or bend or snap or rub against itself. you want your packed mailers and boxes to not make any noise when you shake them or to "clunk!" when you drop them on a table from a foot or two up. if you're worried about dropping them that far you have not packed them right.
people will often give you packaging materials if you say you're collecting them
it's nice to have a tape gun... i inherited mine from a childhood neighbor who was a wonderful lesbian
take very careful notes on expenses and income. expect about 25% of $ that comes in to go to taxes (i'm in CA, this might vary)
have a cute logo :) just for fun
these are my THOUGHTS. enjoy!!

Whoops
hello generation loss enjoyers. it has been several months since the release of ranboos project, how have yall been? im going to be insane.
Many folks have known me as the lminal space connosieur, dead malls and fucked up houses in particular being my strongsuit for both their sex appeal and the amount of symbolism they can all hold.
Watching Gen Loss with my friends through a hostage situation was a wonderful experience! upon the reveal of the Showfall Media offices being inside a rented out mall, there was a split second where I was a bit unamused at the lack of effort put into integrating the mall's architecture into the studio's office. There were only a few empty stores being used with at the bare minimum some chairs and desks, half the mall was still closed, the mini maps stands were still up, and the food court's usage as the streamers hub was very just. like. thats a whole ass food court. without the people walking around the only way to actually know what the hel this was being used for was the giant white banner that just said showfall media like a fraternity's house claiming its territory.
But then, as the episode 2 closed out, almost instantly it hit me why. why the mall was still a mall, why there was little to no integration for the set- it was on purpose. it was supposed to just be a studio crammed inside a mall. a dead mall, to be precise.
first lets get into the anatomy of what makes a dead mall dead. Around the 1980's a rise in popularity of the commercial supermalls began to spread, the american consumerist dream was rampant with a greater demand of fast fashion, merchandise, and all kinds of strange trinkets for the average american to waste their money on. It was capitalism's wettest dream, but as the years went on there came a steady decline in popularity. Sometimes the competing businesses ended up putting each other out of stock, maybe the trends began dying off, and in certain areas consistent crime rates drove away costumers.
Then in the mid 2000's the stock market crash ended up pushing several people into poverty, the lower class unable to afford the luxury goods offered at shopping centers. Then online shopping took society in a deathgrip, further pushing away the desire for in-public purchasing. Brands took notice and began selling online-exclusive products. In the late 2010's the sightings of several "dead malls" were on an alltime high, some being left to rot while others were demolished all together in favor of empty concrete spaces.
Corporate response to this was one of two things; continously invest in the "Anchor Stores" (big chain stores like Macys or Forever 21 that brought in more customers, usually stationed at the ends of the mall). Meanwhile the smaller businesses inside would be shut down one by one to save costs, until eventually the anchor stores themselves would be forced to leave. Sometimes the Anchor Stores would leave beforehand, not wanting to waste money investing in a deadend location. the decline is faster, the mall rots quicker. The company sells the lot to the biggest buyer and destroys what little remains.
Then there are times where the mall itself is sold off to another bigger company, in hopes of more funds to rejuvenate the center. Majority of the time the mall will enter a large reconstruction designed to look more appealing, mor modern. In actually, the personality of the malls architecture is stripped like the skin of prey. The colors and vibrant shapes of the late 1900’s, the waterfalls with rocky beds and marbled beige tiles, all replaced in favor of sharp black on white edge and stainless steel fencing. The occasional shrub here or there, maintained by automation. Lights too bright, all glimmer, all space. Sometimes it works, sometimes the mall is reborn as the pinnacle of luxury again! Sometimes it rots in shiny chrome, a corpse dragged along in the hopes of attracting attention. All it does is stink and bloat, a miserable display.
I hope you begin to catch what im saying.
In Generation Loss, the Showfield Social Experiments are commentary on streamer culture and the damaging relationship between a content creator & their platform. Visualized by Ranboo being pushed into dangerous scenarios for the sake of entertainment, their disposable friends forced into the flat archetypes the fandoms have labeled them as.
They were all vibrant young folks once, bright with personality and that raw humanity filled with flaws and voice cracks. Shitty microphones and inconsistent uploads, some were barely finishing high school. Then they became big, almost too big. They were characters now, and just like Ranboo’s teammates the perception of them as humans were dumbed down to memorable trademarks. Streamers and Content Creators alike had to be marketable now, and when the time comes where they lost their popularity sometimes they sign off to groups and organizations to help boost them up again. They are stripped of their rawness again. Theres a reason their artforms are called “content”.
So it makes sense that Showfall Media, the personification of the content creators downfall, would do the same to a Mall. The corpse of the center is repurposed loosely to fit the studios purpose. It is empty, it is hollow, it is dead. Low costs, big risks- just like Gen Loss Ranboo.

Decluttering Delight: A Step-by-Step Guide to Holiday Cleanup
Tumblr media
As the holiday season wraps up and the new year beckons, many of us find ourselves surrounded by festive aftermath: gifts unwrapped, decorations lingering, and memories made amidst a bit of chaos. It's the perfect time for "Decluttering Delight: A Step-by-Step Guide to Holiday Cleanup," a blog series dedicated to helping you reclaim your space and start the new year refreshed and organized.
In this series, we'll embark on a journey together, transforming what might seem like an overwhelming task into an enjoyable and fulfilling process. From sorting through holiday decorations to finding new homes for your gifts, we'll cover every aspect of post-holiday decluttering. Whether you're a seasoned minimalist or a newcomer to the world of decluttering, this guide will offer practical tips, creative solutions, and a dash of inspiration to help you clear the clutter and embrace a more organized lifestyle.
So grab a cup of hot cocoa, and let's dive into the world of Decluttering Delight – your first step towards a tidier, more peaceful home in the coming year. Stay tuned for our first post, where we'll tackle the big question: Where to begin?
Step 1: Gather and Sort Your Luxury Items to Sell
The holiday season is not just a time for giving and receiving but also a perfect opportunity for decluttering. As we prepare to welcome a new year, let's start by organizing our luxury items. This step is crucial in our journey to a tidier and more spacious home. Here’s how to get started:
Identify and Collect Your Luxury Items
First, scour every nook and cranny of your house for luxury items. These could be designer handbags, high-end electronics, jewelry, or even art pieces. Remember, luxury isn't always about the price tag; it's about the value the item holds, either monetarily or sentimentally.
Assess the Condition
Once you’ve gathered your items, assess their condition. Are they gently used or showing signs of wear and tear? The state of your item plays a significant role in determining its resale value. Be honest with yourself – if an item is too worn out, it might be better to donate or recycle it.
Research Their Value
Before listing any item for sale, it's essential to understand its worth. Check online marketplaces, auction sites, and even local consignment stores to gauge how much similar items are selling for. This research will help you set a realistic price.
Decide Where to Sell
The next step is choosing where to sell your luxury items. Options include online platforms like eBay, Poshmark, or The RealReal, which specialize in reselling high-end goods. Local consignment shops and specialized auction houses are also great options, especially for more unique or valuable pieces.
Prepare Your Items for Sale:
Ensure your items look their best before listing them. Clean and polish jewelry, dust off art pieces, and freshen up designer clothes. A good presentation can significantly boost your item's appeal and help it sell faster.
Organize and Store
As you prepare to list your items for sale, find a safe place to store them. Keeping them organized and in good condition is key. Designate a specific area in your home for these items, away from daily clutter.
By following these steps, you'll not only clear up valuable space in your home but also possibly earn some extra cash from your luxury items. Remember, decluttering is not just about getting rid of things; it's about focusing on what truly matters and finding joy in your living space.
Step 2: Research Where to Sell Your Hermès, Chanel, Rolex, and Other Luxury Goods Online
Understanding the Market for Luxury Goods
When it comes to selling luxury items like Hermès bags, Chanel bags, dresses, or pre-owned Rolex watches, it's crucial to understand the market. These high-end items are not just products; they're investments. The demand for these brands often remains high, but it fluctuates based on various factors like fashion trends, seasonal demands, and the economic climate. Before listing your items, research the current market trends to determine the best time and place to sell.
Selecting the Right Platform
The Confidential Couture: This platform specializes in luxury goods, offering a curated space where high-end items are respected and valued. It's a go-to for buyers seeking authenticity and quality. Here, your Hermès scarf or Chanel jacket will be among peers, attracting buyers who understand their worth.
Online Auction Houses: For unique or rare luxury items, consider online auction houses. These platforms can help you reach a global audience of collectors and enthusiasts who may be willing to pay top dollar for your goods.
Authenticity and Presentation
When selling luxury goods online, authenticity is key. Ensure you have all necessary documentation, like authenticity cards, receipts, and original packaging. High-quality, clear photos of the item, including any unique features or signs of wear, are essential. This not only builds trust with potential buyers but also justifies your asking price.
Pricing Your Items
Pricing luxury items can be tricky. It's important to strike a balance between recouping your investment and acknowledging any wear and tear. Check how similar items are priced on various platforms, and consider getting a professional valuation for rare or vintage pieces.
Safety and Shipping
Once you've made a sale, prioritize secure and insured shipping methods. For high-value items, consider requiring a signature upon delivery. Always keep a record of shipping and tracking information to protect yourself and the buyer.
Selling your luxury items online can be a rewarding way to declutter and refresh your collection. By choosing the right platform, presenting your items effectively, and pricing them appropriately, you can find new homes for your cherished luxury goods while earning back part of your investment. Remember, patience is key; the right buyer for your unique item is out there.
Step 3: Photograph and List Your Luxury Bags, Watches, and Accessories for Sale
As the holiday season approaches, a key aspect of decluttering your home involves sorting out those luxury items that are no longer in use. Whether it's a designer handbag you haven't carried in years, a watch that's been replaced by a newer model, or accessories that no longer match your style, this step is about turning your unused treasures into potential income.
Taking High-Quality Photographs
Find the Perfect Lighting: Natural light works best for capturing the true colors and details of your luxury items. Aim for a well-lit room or a spot near a window. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can create shadows and distort colors.
Clean Your Items: Before snapping photos, ensure that your luxury items are clean and in the best possible condition. Wipe down watches, polish metal accessories, and clean bags thoroughly.
Use a Neutral Background: A plain, uncluttered background helps your items stand out. Choose a background that contrasts with your item to make it pop.
Multiple Angles: Capture your items from various angles to show off their design and condition. Include close-ups of any logos, unique features, or areas that show wear and tear.
Consistency is Key: Keep a consistent style for all your photographs. This uniformity makes your listings look professional and appealing to potential buyers.
Listing Your Items for Sale
Choose the Right Platform: Research different online marketplaces and platforms that specialize in reselling luxury items. Choose Confidential Couture if you want to sit back and relax.
Be Responsive: Once your listings are live, be ready to be responsive towards the listing platforms. Prompt responses can increase your chances of a successful and fast sale.
Selling your luxury items not only clears up space but also provides an opportunity to earn some extra cash. It's a win-win situation where you declutter your space, and someone else gets to enjoy your pre-loved items. So, take the time to photograph and list your items thoughtfully, and you might just find that decluttering can be both satisfying and profitable!
Step 4: Price Your Pre-Owned Designer Items Competitively.
When the holiday season ends, and you're left with an array of designer items you no longer need, it's time to think about decluttering. However, decluttering doesn't just mean discarding. It can also mean transforming unused luxury items into an opportunity for financial gain. This step, pricing your pre-owned designer items competitively, is crucial in the journey of holiday cleanup.
Understanding the Market
Before you set a price, it's essential to understand the market. Research similar items online to gauge the going rate. Remember, the condition of the item, its rarity, and the brand all influence its value. Websites like ours, that is, Confidential Couture, can offer insights into current trends and prices.
Condition Matters
The condition of your item is paramount. Nearly new items can fetch a higher price, while well-loved pieces may need to be priced lower. Be honest about the condition, and use it as a guide for setting your price.
Set a Competitive Price
A competitive price is fair to both you and the buyer. It's tempting to price high, especially for designer goods, but overpricing can deter potential buyers. Consider setting a slightly lower price to attract more interest, leading to a quicker sale.
Be Open to Negotiation
The art of selling pre-owned items often involves negotiation. Set your price knowing that buyers may want to haggle. Have a minimum price in mind, but be open to offers. Flexibility can be the key to a successful sale.
Highlight Uniqueness
If your item has a unique feature or a story (like a limited edition or a rare color), highlight it. This can justify a higher price and attract collectors or enthusiasts who value these specifics.
Monitor and Adjust
The market for pre-owned designer items can fluctuate. If your item isn't selling, be prepared to adjust the price. Keep an eye on the market and be responsive to changes.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your pre-owned designer items are priced competitively, making your holiday cleanup not just a decluttering exercise but also a potentially profitable venture.
Step 5: Ship Sold Luxury Goods and Get Paid
Congratulations! You've reached the final and perhaps the most rewarding step in our "Decluttering Delight: A Step-by-Step Guide to Holiday Cleanup" - shipping off your sold luxury goods and getting paid. This step is where you see the fruits of your labor turning into tangible rewards.
Secure Packaging is Key
First things first, ensure that your luxury items are packaged securely. Remember, these are valuable items that you've cherished, and the new owner expects to receive them in the best condition. We at Confidential Couture use sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, and other protective materials. Paying attention to details here can make a big difference in maintaining the item's value and condition.
Choose a Reliable Shipping Service
Selecting a reliable shipping service is crucial. Look for carriers that offer insurance and tracking for high-value items. This not only gives you peace of mind but also assures the buyer of the item's safety during transit. We at CC, make sure to communicate the tracking details to the buyer and seller both once the item is shipped.
Setting the Right Expectations
Communication with the buyer is key throughout this process. We at Confidential Couture keep them informed about the expected delivery dates and any delays that might occur. Transparency builds trust and can lead to positive reviews and repeat buyers.
Receiving Payment
We at Confidential Couture release your payment once the buyer confirms the receipt of the item. Ensure that you have provided the correct payment details to avoid any delays.
Reflect and Repeat
Once you've completed a sale, take a moment to reflect on the process. What worked well? What could be improved? Use these insights to streamline your future sales. Decluttering and selling luxury items not only frees up space in your home but also provides a way to make extra money.
Celebrate Your Success
Finally, celebrate your success! You’ve navigated through the challenging yet rewarding process of decluttering, selling, and shipping your luxury goods. This accomplishment not only signifies a cleaner, more organized space but also demonstrates your ability to convert unused items into financial gain.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 12 (Life As a Landgraab?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Eva and Johnny returned to his rent-free luxury suite at the Landgraab-owned apartment complex across the plaza, Heather stayed the night with Malcolm.
She woke in the night to pee and found Malcolm’s father, Geoffrey, up late reading in the kitchen. He straightened his glasses when he noticed her. "Can't sleep? Sometimes these big windows let in too many city lights for me, but reading helps."
"I am a little hungry," she admitted. "Dinner was nice, it was just...I felt like Nancy was watching me eat, and she only ate, like, three bites of her own food."
Geoffrey nodded. "She was counting your calories," he admitted. "She only lets herself have so many a day, and once she's counted all her own she can't help but count everyone else's, too."
"Don't you hate that?"
"I've just learned she sleeps like the dead, and if I eat when she's not around, she can't count a thing." His belly moved as he laughed. "Now that you mention food, I could go for First Breakfast. Malcolm says you're a great cook, and I think we've got enough bread for French toast!"
Heather laughed. Geoffrey was kind and sincere - the total opposite of his wife. "Is that like second breakfast? Are we hobbits?"
Tumblr media
"We wouldn't need to be if my wife just let people live. But she's got very specific ideas about success that she learned long before she met me. I know my wife and I know she knows better, but I can't lie and say I don't love her strength of will - when I'm not hungry, of course! You'll get used to her."
Heather shuddered. She couldn't imagine getting used to Nancy Landgraab. "I don't want to sell the clinic," she breathed as egg-dipped brioche fried over the stove. "And I really like Brindleton Bay. All those strays help keep me and the animal shelter in business."
Geoffrey smiled. "You fit in well there. I've read some of the online reviews since you took over, and it's nothing but praise for you and your skills. You should be proud."
"How could I walk away from that? Would you?"
"I walked away from plenty for love, including my own last name," he said. Heather plated his toast, and he took a bite and swallowed before he continued. "It's too soon for anyone to talk about marriage, even though all my wife ever thinks about is lineage, but you make great French toast, you're a great vet, and you'll make a wonderful daughter-in-law to anyone someday. If you want it."
Tumblr media
With her plate of food, and Malcolm and his parents asleep upstairs, Heather took in the stunning midnight lights. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped around the entire penthouse suite, giving incredible views across San Myshuno Bay in every direction.
A far cry from her childhood in Henford-on-Bagley, she considered a potential life in the big city. Her uncle lived here, and Dylan, and soon Holly and Kris would live here, too. This could be her life. Life as a Landgraab, with Nancy for a mother-in-law.
Tumblr media
(She did this brooding stare out the window autonomously. After she made the French toast she decided instead of eating, despite the fact she was starving, she wanted to play the piano. I cancelled that and told her to eat her food. But then she picked up the food and headed back toward the piano and I thought she was going to try to play piano with a fork in her hand, but she did this instead.
She didn't even know I planned to make her do this for the plot/screenshot, anyway, and she served up exactly what I wanted her to do with a bonus side of French toast. I just adore her.)
Heather tidied the kitchen and snuggled back in bed with Malcolm, dozing off until they were ripped awake by sunlight streaming through the massive windows.
"Good morning," she said, cuddling into his shoulder. They'd always parted before sunrise, but his king-sized bed with memory foam - and that view! - was a pretty spectacular way to wake up.
Tumblr media
"Mmrrnph," he grumbled, turning away and pulling the covers. "I need coffee."
"Never mind," she muttered under her breath, throwing back the covers as she stood so he could freeze.
With the blanket on the floor, he stumbled groggily out of bed. "Sorry," he said, squinting into the sunlight. "It's so damn bright! Don't be like that. I hate mornings."
"It's fine," she said, fighting her disappointment with a plastered smile as they both got dressed. "I have to get back to Brindleton to open the clinic, anyway."
He leaned in for an awkward embrace, but he pulled back when his phone pinged with an incoming email. "I'll text you later," he said.
Tumblr media
Making her way downstairs, Heather tried not to overthink his pre-coffee demeanor, but before she returned to the Simmerloop Superhighway, she detoured to her uncle's penthouse in the Arts Quarter. ->

Hoodoo 101 - Jezebel Root
What is Jezebel root & why is it used in Traditional Hoodoo & Vodou?
Jezebel Root is a feminine root used in traditional Hoodoo & Vodou for dominating a wealthy man, sugar daddy or powerful person and is sometimes used for hexing or cursing. This root was named after a mythical biblical figure Queen Jezebel who belonged the Omri dynasty of the Kingdom Israel in 852 BC. As a controversial figure, she was known to be extremely cunning and ruthless, using her power to gain the upper hand by any means necessary. Historically this plant has been used by ADOS who practiced Hoodoo & Vodou, for a variety of reasons. The Jezebel stereotype was an oppressive image that was used for the sexual assault and servitude of black women during chattel slavery in the US. This root was typically associated with brothels, working girls, vaudeville/showgirls and mistresses who needed to keep their bills paid and food on their tables, by attracting abundance and docility from rich clients to better their lives as a means of survival.
Today this root is still very potent and extremely beneficial for anyone who works in any type of service industry but is typically used by women seeking a luxury lifestyle via wealthy boyfriend or sugar daddy. Typically, these roots are fed or dressed in a variety of ways and placed in mojo bags, candles or other spells to manifest their intention.
Unfortunately, in modern times authentic Jezebel root has been extremely hard to come by and the majority of Jezebel root being sold on the market is actually common garden variety mulch or cherry bark. To the untrained eye it might resemble an actual root, especially when ground up. Here is a common example of fake jezebel root that you’ll typically see being sold in spiritual shops in person or online below.
Tumblr media
Real jezebel root should not resemble bark or any type of mulch. Depending on the maturity of the root, the main root will always have multiple smaller roots sprouting from it, unless they have been clipped or shaven off. It should always look like a root! Fake jezebel root is also easy to snap and like most bark, has a dark brown center. Real jezebel root should be somewhat flexible and have a white center, when broken open.
Tumblr media
While this is an easy to mistake to make, many trusted shops are STILL selling fake jezebel root to their clientele. I’ve always been passionate about collecting and providing authentic high-quality goods for myself and my patrons at an affordable price. So I’ve been working on a way to provide REAL Jezebel root to the public for the past few years.
I’m pleased to announce my shop will finally be offering in limited quantity plant shares of Jezebel root to purchase during the upcoming spring season of 2023 under our new indoor grow system.

“My sense is that Meghan's market is more of the TJ Maxx demographic.” Interesting assessment of Meghan’s market. From a business perspective, brands who end up at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc. (owned by the same company TJX) are typically bought in due to 1) supplier has made too much (overstock) and it isn’t selling 2) it’s getting close to the end of its expiration dates (close out) and it sold in at a much cheaper cheaper price to TJX. She’d still need a regular place to sell before she tries to offload (usually at a much lower margin / maybe even a loss) to TJX. I’m basing this on my experience with working in food industry and resorting to these retailers for the same reasons.
Exactly my point. The TJX brand is the end of the line for so much product and merch these days (especially fast fashion) that it's inevitable Meghan's products will end up there if this turns into the deal she wants to be. The key thing is that she needs product first. That she launched without a real product is very telling.
To me, what I think it says is that she's not getting the investors or partners that she wants so she launched ASAP to use the media's hype as part of her negotiation or recruitment strategy. (In addition to taking advantage of Kate's absence, of course.)
I made a suggestion in an earlier post that Meghan's competitors are the socialite/influencers that are launching their own brands or already have brands. A great many of those brands use print-on-demand dropship merch. They save on overstock storage and production fees by only keeping a limited selection in stock and marking up their own prices to cover "demand."
I see Roop heading in that direction. If they can't find a distribution vendor (e.g., Kohls, Target, Macy's, etc.), they'll do dropshipping but at such low quantities they always sell out - which is the same tactic Meghan uses when she wants to be a fashion influencer (she wears something already heavily discounted and with so little stock that she can take credit for "selling out").
What is interesting, and why I think Roop has a good argument for exclusivity with TJX companies, is Rae Dunn. Most of her product is sold exclusively through TJX and she has a deal with a company called Magenta Inc., an online retailer that's thought to be behind Rae Dunn products in places like Amazon and Walmart.
So there's precedent for Meghan/Roop to sell exclusively with TJX, with perhaps a side deal for an online storefront like Magenta offers. But that's not the audience or market Meghan wants (even though she herself is the "wine mom" elder millennial motivational-quote-spouting stereotype that buys Rae Dunn and shops at TJX stores so it's a natural fit). She wants Roop in luxury marketplaces that prices out the very people who would actually buy Meghan's product.
She's stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think she realizes it now while watching the metrics on social media plateau from a total lack of engagement and total absence of content (hence throwing Mandana under the bus in Page Six). Which is surprising. Given the way she rolled out Sussex.com with the IG Vancouver kickoff - four or five days straight of new Sussex content and material - I expected the same thing with Roop; 1st day - social media launch, 2nd day - lunch papwalk, 3rd day - product launch, 4th day - "checking out my product" charity visit/papwalk, 5th day - Netflix cooking show promo, and so on.
I know, I know. Stop giving her ideas. I'm trying!
