Fuck it I’m doing an updated post on the Heroic Spirit Tour Locations cuz I have spent hours finding the exact locations on google searches
Dioscuri: Santorini, Greece Ushiwaka: Eikando Temple, Osaka, Japan Abby: New York, USA Nitrocris: Great Pyramid of Giza (you can see it behind her), Egypt Jaguarman: Selaron Staircase, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (thank you to the anon who said this was in Brazil it helped me find the full place) Helena: Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre, Ukraine Carmilla: Jesuit Stairs, Dubrovnik, Croatia Yang Guifei: Great Wall, China Amadeus: Hohensalzberg Fortress, Austria (ngl I cheated with this one and went on a Fate Forum to get the answer. Apparently it’s a back entrance to the fortress) Bartholomew: Cape Town, South Africa (I literally googled “rainbow stairs landmarks” to find out where this was. Also Barty is the only one with ties to Africa that I am aware of as he had a base of operations in West Africa) Skadi: Anon suggested somewhere in Kansai but I found a subbed version of the Drama Dialogue that comes with this CE and Skadi mentions being in “Nordic Greenery” so at least now we’ve narrowed it down to like. Trip Report #1 - Rio de Janeiro
If someone had asked me right before the start of my flight-attendant course for the destination that would trigger the most excitement in me, I would immediately have said Rio de Janeiro. Brazil has fascinated me ever since I studied Latin American studies in college, and the thought of getting to visit its most iconic city for 48 hours exhilarated me as I was preparing for the trip. I had never been to South America before, but the picturesque Copacabana and the steep cliffs of the Sugarloaf Mountain were of course engrained in my memory from movies and TV. I could barely contain my happiness as I was trying to get in a couple of hours of sleep before duty began. Both Rio flights (FRA-GIG and GIG-FRA) are night flights, so being well rested is essential. Nevertheless, I had to settle for about an hour of napping as sleeping seemed to be impossible.
The briefing time for South America flights is rather late, so I found myself at the base around 8:30 pm as the last flight attendants were arriving for the scheduled late-night flights to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The building was slowly emptying out and finally it was time for briefing. As soon as I went into the briefing room, I could sense that this tour would be a fun one, since most of the crew seemed to be around my age and everyone looked ready to go out and explore what Rio had to offer. I had decided to look up the number of a local sailor, who offers Caipirinha-fueled sailing tours around the Copacabana for cabin crew and other groups alike. I asked around if people would be interested in going sailing, and sure enough, we had a list of 10 people who signed up to do the trip. Being a flight-attendant is all about spontaneity, and so I was set to go sailing with 10 other crew members who I had met 5 minutes prior.
I unfortunately ended up getting my least-favorite working position on board, as I was responsible for the Economy class galley, which was fully booked that day. 242 hungry and thirsty passengers waiting to be fed, and I was the king over the kitchen – not always an easy task. Due to a great team and mostly tired passengers, however, it was an enjoyable flight that was over quickly, although it is an 11-hour flight into the completely dark night.
Once we arrived at the hotel, it was 7 in the morning Rio time, and I got to witness a breathtaking sunrise with view of the Copacabana beach, which our hotel is ridiculously close to. Two beds, walk-in shower – I was a happy but tired camper. I decided to sleep right away since we were to meet out sailing guide at 2pm and I was comatosely tired. 7 hours later, I was down in the hotel lobby, towel, sunglasses and sunscreen in hand, to meet the other crew members. We took a shot Uber ride to our meeting point, the idyllic Marina da Gloria, where our guide was already awaiting us with glasses of ice-cold passionfruit Caipirinha. Unfortunately, the weather was overcast, and the Brazilian winter cooled down the bay significantly, but we weren’t going to let that ruin our sailing trip so off we went.
Accompanied by breathtaking views of the Rio de Janeiro shore line during sunset, we were drinking Caipirinhas, wine, and beer, and feasted on one of the most delicious barbecues I had in a long time. I remember the unbelievably sweet and delicious bananas our guide Daniel had brought for us. The trip was worth every penny and I recommend it to anybody visiting Rio de Janeiro. Tired but happy, we returned to the hotel to drink coconut water (out of an actual coconut) at the beach bar that was two minutes walking distance.
A massive Caipirinha hangover awoke me early the next morning, but there is no time to waste in a place that you are only in for such a short visit. I decided to pay a visit to the Escadaria Selaron, a colorfully decorated stair case situated closer to Rio’s center. Although it was winter, it didn’t stop the site from being crowded with tourists, which did not diminish its beauty. Of course, I wasn’t going to leave Rio without eating one of the famous chicken coxinhas, which cost 4 reais, which is equivalent to roughly 1 euro.
Sugarloaf Mountain was last on my to do list and probably what I was most excited for. I took the gondola up to the first of two stations, which provides you with an excellent view of the bay and the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, as well as landing traffic at Santos Dumont Airport. Incoming planes fly about a 90 degree in the middle of final approach, which makes for some spectacular views.
One station further we had reached the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, and the view was mesmerizing. There was a tiny museum that showed the first picture ever taken from the top of the mountain, which was realized with a camera weighing more than 100 pounds before there was any access to cable cars or gondolas to reach the top. Thanks to the gondola, this view is accessible to most Cariocas and tourists these days, and the enormous task of constructing a lift to the top of the mountain fascinated me.
After another 5 hours of rather unsatisfying sleep, it was already time to get into my uniform and check out again. When meeting the crew for pick-up, it turned out that one colleague was not feeling well, and another had sprained her ankle, which meant that we were flying back to Frankfurt with -1 in our crew complement. However, the kitchen was running smoothly, and the first service went without any issues.
I had noticed a passenger who was ordering a rather excessive amount of brandy after the service, and sure enough, the gentleman turned out to become a little unruly during the flight, shouting and shaking the seat of his neighbor. After talking to him in a rather stern matter, he finally settled down, so we made it to Frankfurt without any additional problems.
I had a blast in Rio, and I cannot wait to return to Brazil soon. I’m heading off now and will report back from my next trip. I am leaving for Mexico City in 2 days!
Always happy landings,
Lh5ever

Besides the buzzing art neighbourhood with design shops and the famous Escadaria Selaron stairs in Lapa in Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷, I was 🤷🏻♂️ on the lookout for the hidden gems of the locals. Only a couple of locals can be spotted during the day. More tho during the crazy nightlife, which the neighbourhood is now known for. ⠀ ⠀ A better local flair and vibe is in the adjacent neighbourhood in Santa Teresa. Loved it there visiting local bars, restaurants and little supermarkets. ⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #lapa #rio #brasil #locals #abmtravelbug #travelporn #tlpicks #wherewillwegonext #luxwt #thebest_capture #citybestpics #traveltime #bestdestinations #huffposttravel #outdoormen #beautifulscenery #areyouawake #phototag_it #globelletravels #simplyadventure #beautifulplaces #visualsgang #wetravelguys #wanderluster #sheisnotlost #houseoftones #aroundtheworldpix #guysjustwannatravel @rioilove @riodejaneirodobrasil @rioderole (at Lapa, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx7O7LmoJP3/?igshid=z3n26tnxwspx

Selarons Stairs is the life’s work of Chilean artist Jorge Selaron. He lived close by, and he begun to decorate the staircase that connects the Lapa neighborhood to hilltop neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Selaron started decorating with tiles from around Rio, but as it grew, people began sending tiles from around the world. It’s quite enjoyable walking the stairs, and looking at all the beautiful mosaics, as well as exploring the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, full of artists work (at Escadaria Selarón) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv64qR7HL0f/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1b1cydj030x4

Sur les escaliers Selarón, qui portent le nom de son créateur.
