There was no helping the grimace, a hissed out sigh, and a quick lowering of his eyes. For some reason being ‘Major Tallmadge’ to one of his closest friends and the hurt that he imagined he could hear in Selah’s voice, hurt more than bullets. 

“Selah.” He said standing up and purposefully using the familiar form of address. “I swear there is nothing at all to those rumors. They have zero basis and are formed entirely out of fancy.”

Valentine's Day Application

Name: Selah Strong Age: Late 30’s (I’m assuming he’s aged down a bit in TURN since Anna seems to be?) Do you like to cuddle?: “With my Anna? I could never object.” Can we make-out?: “I wouldn’t subject you to anything so crass and tasteless. If there is to be kissing, it’s to be given the time and attention it, and you, deserve.” A night in or dinner out?: “Dinner out, followed by a night in. There’s been enough hiding away, hasn’t there?” Ice cream or chocolate covered strawberries?: “And the moon, if you want it.” What makes you a good Valentine?: “I believe we have a very great deal to speak to each other about. I’m also your husband…” Would you cook for me?: “Only if you need a laugh that badly.” Would you let me cook for you?: “I know better now than to presume to ‘let’ you do anything, Anna. That said, it is meant to be an evening of rest, and haven’t you done enough work?”

Anna accepts 10000000%. Her beloved Selah is welcome to and entitled to all the affection in the world. Selah is amazing and she will dote on, lavish, and cherish her husband - till death do they part. He has and always will sweep her off her feet. He is smart, talented, loving, and compassionate. <3 He is her favorite valentines day date, hands down.  @selahstrxng

For the Halloween Meme: ANNNNNLAAAAAAH

(Halloween) Give me a ship and I’ll tell you who:

Choses the pumpkin: They do together- although Selah has more say because he always picks out the perfect one. (He has high standards for the pumpkin to live up to). 

Carves the pumpkin: Selah because its the respectable thing for any gentleman to do for his wife.

Gets scared and clings the other in a haunted house: Anna clings to him because Selah is stronger and more fearless than anything that pops out at them.

Matching costume idea: Anna

Makes a cozy bed-fort to cuddle in: Anna

Steal’s the other’s candy: Anna but only so that she can get Selah’s attention

Accidentally gets lost in a corn maze: They both do unfortunately. Selah likes to complain about it and Anna is persistent enough to create a way out- even if it isn’t by the “official unspoken Maze guidelines”.

Tells spooky stories to scare the other: Selah. He can and does tell a few really terrifying stories that involve the Jersey. Anna always tries to compete with stories about Captain John Graves Simcoe and his reign of terror. 

Collects cool-looking leaves: Anna because she loves science and the vibrant variation of colors in the fallen leaves.

Prince Henry (future Henry VIII) took up a classical curriculum under poets such as Bernard André, John Skelton, and was heavily influenced by Erasmus and Thomas More. However, it was his mother, Queen Elizabeth of York, who taught Henry his basic skills of reading and writing. On the 2nd of November 1495, Henry VII paid £1 ‘for a book bought for my Lord of York’. Henry was then only four, and a half and there is no trace of a formally appointed tutor –his handwriting was quite unlike that of his known teachers, and in some ways very like the handwriting of his sister Mary. ‘It could pass for Henry’s,’ said Dr Starkey. The only difference is Henry leans more heavily on the page. Only a few fragments written by Henry’s mother have survived, and it shows how similar her children’s writing was to hers. The conclusion is that it was Elizabeth herself who taught Henry to read and also taught her children to write. x

Nightmares: Collateral Damage

Tippie-toes sashay across the wooden floor with all the grace and stealth of her mother. Soft skirts dance and sway to the growing toddler’s movements. Lips of pure peach turn upwards as Halley approaches her Daddy’s desk, still strewn with unfinished reports and cut remnants of Edmund’s apple as well as the rest of his lunch. 

The young girl clambers up onto her daddy’s chair. Dark-eyes grow wide as she attentively studies the desk. Five tiny and rather curious fingers reach out and clutch a crisp slice. Halley was at the age where everything she picked up usually ended up within her mouth, to Anna’s dismay.

“No...” Anna cries, with a low whimper as she watches helplessly on. “No...Halley, don’t...” she cries again, this time more fiercely, but her pleas fall upon deaf ears. She lunges for her young wide-eyed daughter. Its too late, the damage is done. White frothy foam spills from Halley’s lips and the young girl falls to the floor in a fit of violent tremors; just like Bucephalus had.  

Anna quickly draws her suffering child close to her chest. “Halley...” she murmurs between heavy sobs. Fumbling fingers drift through equally dark curls in an effort to soothe her only child. 

A shadowy figure catches her eyes. One she’d know anywhere even without his jacket of forest-green, Captain Simcoe. His words send a chill shooting through her entire figure. “Collateral damage, Misses Strong. Surely, you must understand,” comes his excuse. A wicked alligator smile appears upon his thin lips accompanied by the playful mirth in his arctic hues.

Her heart plummets into the very pit of her stomach from whence, it refuses to rise. How could the death of her beloved daughter be treated so callously? Halley was beautiful. Her parent’s little angel of mercy. How could she ever deserve this?! If only her hands were free, she’d kill this demon. “HHHH....EEELLLPPP!!!!” She cries loudly as if she herself were being tormented with a branding iron. 

Anna twists, tangles, and thrashes within the sheets as if, physically fighting off the Angel of Death. “Help!” She cries again. However, the frantic chord escapes as nothing more than a strangled scream from the very depths of her burning lungs. A cold sweat trickles down down her pale face and she shoots upright, breathing frantic and jagged. 

When she sees notices Edmund stirring, she tearfully rasps...”the...the apple. Halley got it.” The icy cold fingers of death seem wrapped like barbed-wire around her throbbing heart. She feels incredibly sick and she can not stop the terrible heaving of her chest.

“Halley? Sweetheart, want to help Mommy send a letter for Daddy?” She quizzes with a grin. Her four-year-old daughter was incredibly intelligent just like Edmund. Anna had no doubts she’d be the smartest in her class.

who’s the one to wake up the kids: Selah. He secretly likes being the one face they see when they first wake. Besides, he fancies that their kids look like angels when they sleep. He sometimes likes to gawk over how precious his family his. He also likes to take time to pause and reflect before gently rousing them from their slumber. who makes the breakfast: Annawho’s the one to cry for everything: Annawho’s the more discipline parent and who’s the more lenient one: Selah is more stern with the rules because he loves the kids so much it makes him anxious to think that they could get hurt. Anna is more lax.who helps with the science fair: Annawho does baby talk: Annawho wakes up for midnight feedings: Anna because Selah has an important job. He needs his sleep.who’s the one who always worries: Selahwho picks up the kids early from school for some fun: Selah because he sometimes feels bad about being the stern parent and he really wants to be as loved by his kids as Anna is.who’s the competitive parent: Selah is competitive when it comes to debates, shooting, and physical activities. It may or may not have something to do with his congressional job. ;) who kisses the ouches: Annawho’s the sucker for the puppy eyes: Selah although, he pretends not to bewho makes the “dad jokes”: Selah “Mr. I’m not sure Philadelphia agrees with itself”who embarrassed their kid for fun: they both do from time to timewho’s the over protective one: BOTH, Selah is a papa bear. He will level an entire town to save his children and he will be vocal about it. However, Anna can also come across as just as fiercewho’s the “take a sweater!” parent: Selah and Anna both take turns on this one.
