You may have been misinformed. Predacons require energon, but they drink it directly less frequently due to their hunting behaviors; they receive energon from their kills, as well.

Predacons require a higher amount of mineral deposits in their system, which is why they hunt. Their nanites have to work quickly and frequently to maintain their systems because their bodies degrade faster than our own.

If you are in possession of a predacon, I would like a CNA sample. If your predacon isn't accepting energon by itself, it may be low on mineral deposits, or require enrichment during feeding to activate their hunting-feeding instincts.
