Mr. Fox stands in front of a full-length mirror and takes a minute to adjust his cufflinks. He rolls his shoulders in his coat, brushes his gloved hands briskly over the front of his coat and down his sleeves and the front of his trousers.

He takes a minute to adjust his tie, pulling it tight up to his neck. Uncomfortably tight. He stares dispassionately at his masked reflection. His mouth is an expressionless line.

Manipulator. Exploiter. Piece of shit. Parasite.

Hah.

As if he cared. As if he'd defend himself. What else did they expect from a monster, a thing that stank of blood, smoke and darkness?

Of course he was all that and more. It was true. He'd almost started forgetting that. Tch. Carelessness on his part.

He studied himself in the floor length mirror. His hand came up, the leather of his glove creaking softly as they tightened into a fist.

With the swiftness of a viper strike, he drove his fist into the face of his reflection, shattering the glass. His hands then pressed up against the shards, pushing steadily into them, pressing himself into and through the portal in the damaged mirror.

Going in and under, back into the nightmares that reeked of cordite and gunpowder, his private hell of blood and death and mud.

The place where wicked souls like himself belonged of course.

I finally got the hat from Spire so ofc I gotta come up with a whole new persona to justify the fashion. 

This is Dutch and his ghost Warden. Dutch is an Exo who doesn’t remember his name or reset number. His chosen name was picked out by Warden. Early risen. His trademark weapon is a pre-city version of the Trust handcannon he found on the body of a warlord and a long rifle he built himself. Bounty hunter. Asset to the Awoken and later Spider (and back to the Awoken). One of the few guardians to run jobs in the Reef prior to the Black Garden Incident. Ran in similar circles to Caliban and Shiro. Befriended House Wolves while under Awoken allyship and some House-less Eliksni clans who later joined House Dusk and Light. Strike dad. Keeps an eye out for New Lights in the Cosmodrome and EDZ. Likes running Gambit because “He [Drifter] might be a slime ball. But he’s a slime ball that pays well.”

This isn’t saying you shouldn’t write bad or sad stories or anything, but from Gaster’s perspective as a character in those stories of course he’d want “happy” endings, haha.

But anyway, I kept telling you guys that when Handplates was over I would tell you. Well… here we are. After seven long years, here we are.

When I started I never thought I’d make it. To be honest, it doesn’t feel real to me at all. My brain still expects to do another page in about two weeks as it always does. I assume it’ll take a while to sink in. There’s a lot to say but this post is already incredibly long (sorry), so it’s probably suited to its own post.

But for all of you out there who read this story, whether you were there from the beginning or just came in now, thank you so much. And for all of you that were inspired by this comic, who created things for it, who blessed me with so many amazing gifts of art and fic and music and dubs and videos and so much more… I don’t know how to thank you enough. I never dreamed that an idle idea could have come this far or had such an impact on my life and so many people, but it did.

I kind of feel at a loss for words… again it’s very surreal. But I will say that Gaster wondering whether the kid is an actual human or not has an unintended level to it since my avatar is a fox but it’s TOO LATE NOW I GUESS lol.
