As a little treat to myself for the first anniversary of my Sebastian Sallow x m!mc series (Like Moths to a Flame [ Wattpad link ] [ AO3 link ]), I commissioned the absolutely spectacular @rhewart for a scene of Sebastian and Damien from chapter 34 ("Happiness, Its Gates Guarded by Dragons") of the sequel, Burning Bright, and boy, did she deliver (and then some)! My jaw is still on the floor. Happy one year, Sebastian and Damien <333 It's been such a joy writing you two.

Just because it's the Yule Ball doesn't mean Ominis isn't going to stop throwing shade at Simpbastian Sallow.
aka. wherein my MC Elias dazzles his date Sebastian with how rizz and handsome he looks in his Yule Ball outfit, Ominis calls Seb out for being a total simp, and Seb is one word away from smacking Ominis in the face.
Artist's note: I'll consider this my birthday post for my MC Elias because he was born on May 31 (also because I had no time to make a proper birthday post for him. Maybe next year if this blog and my hyperfixation survives). The whole scene is also very Anastasia when she's on that staircase in that opera house in Paris and Dmitri's just gawking because Anastasia was so gorgeous she slayed everyone.

Art Commission for Ch. 3 of "You Cannot Put a Fire Out"
Tumblr media
For one of my favorite chapters (so far) in my third long-fic, which is a flashback to Sebastian and Damien's sixth year at Hogwarts, I commissioned my friend Sam (@s4lvaged on Tumblr). Sam's vibrant and youthful art style is perfectly suited for this chapter, as Damien and Sebastian, in the early throes of love, finally reveal their relationship to the rest of the school. Thank you, Sam, for sharing your talent with us! They'll be posting on Tumblr more frequently in the weeks to come, so check out their art. They also accept commissions! Please don't hesitate to reach out. They are absolutely wonderful to work with. :)
Excerpt (SFW) after the cut:
*✧・゚: *✧・゚: And with that, Sebastian scrambled on top of the Slytherin table. Now was as good a time as any.
Damien’s eyes widened.
Sebastian clapped his hands. “Everyone, everyone! Listen up!” The room suddenly went very quiet. A dozen or more heads swiveled his way. “It’s my birthday today.” A few congratulatory shouts cut through some scattered muttering. “Now, I suggested a brilliant idea to someone this summer, so here’s me making it come true.” He extended his hand out to Damien, who stood slack-jawed on the floor below him.
At first, Damien merely gawked at him. Sebastian's heart pounded in his chest. But then, setting his face, Damien nodded and grabbed Sebastian’s hand. With a swift pull, Sebastian hoisted Damien up onto the table. Now, they stood together, elevated for all to see. All eyes were on them.
"Damien Andrew Evans," Sebastian said, quieter but still loud enough to be heard, "I hope you don't mind, because I'd very much like to kiss you now."
Damien flushed a brilliant red. Grinning, he mumbled very softly, "I don't mind," so Sebastian grabbed him by the back of his head, his fingers entwined in Damien's thick blonde hair, just above his low bun, and kissed him so deeply he could feel Damien's pulse through his deliciously full lips.
Lost in the intensity of the moment, Sebastian was momentarily oblivious to the uproar erupting in the hall. His classmates whooped and shouted, punctuated by a few scattered groans, but mostly excitement—just as he had hoped.
When Sebastian came up for air, Damien was staring back at him, misty-eyed.
“Bash, I—” Damien began, but Sebastian gently placed a finger to his lips, silencing him.
“No need to thank me,” he said. “It was your birthday gift to me, after all.”
Damien’s face lit up, so Sebastian kissed him again. And again. And bloody again. He would kiss this magical boy as long as he could, as long as Damien wanted him to, perhaps even until the stars themselves fell from the sky. But for now, they had a beautiful day ahead of them.
And, if this morning was any indication, today was shaping up to be the best birthday ever.

🎉 30,000 Reads on Like Moths to a Flame!!!
This morning, I hit 30,000 reads on Wattpad, Like Moths to a Flame's first home, so to speak. <3 When I started writing my series on Wattpad in March 2023, I had absolutely no idea where it would take me. In fact, I thought it was only going to be a one-shot. Silly me! In the past year and half, I'm learned so much about myself. It turns out I can write 3 whole books in that relatively short period of time, alongside a plethora of one-shots, a short story, and a spin-off fic. All combined, that amounts to over 300,000 words. (I'm including the currently unpublished word count for the third book, chapters of which I'm posting weekly.)
I've also gained so much, the best of which are the wonderful, creative, and kind friends I've met along the way. Even during the hard times, just thinking of you all (you know who you are!!!) can turn my day around. <3
Some other things I've gained:
1. My writing skills have improved considerably, despite the fact that I've been writing on and off since I was a pre-teen. Writing daily will do that (haha). 2. I finally have an AO3 account! I've been reading on AO3 for over a decade but I never had my own account. I finally joined last August and I'm so glad I did! The AO3 community is so wonderful and I'm thrilled to finally be contributing to it as a writer. 3. I rejoined Tumblr. In January of this year, a reader on Wattpad recommended I check out the HL community here, so I said, why the hell not? And now look where we are. :)
4. Fan art! Last summer, a wonderful reader reached out to me on Wattpad with fanart and it snowballed from there. Every piece I receive from an artist, even to this day, I tear up in the best way. I've never been able to create art in this way (believe me, I tried for years LOL), and I am in absolute awe of all you amazing artists that can do so. The fact that so many of you have been inspired by my work and have had the courage to reach out and share your beautiful creations with me is truly astounding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 5. Last, but certainly not least, HL rekindled my passion for writing. Prior to last spring, it had been years since I'd written something for myself. The moment I set pen to paper (yes, I wrote the first chapter in a notebook first because I wasn't sure if I was going to share it with the world!), I knew that was it for me. I was done-zo. I was sucked back into the world of writing. And I'll forever be grateful to the game for doing that for me. Finally, here's to Sebastian and Damien, who have taken on a life of their own. They're my boys, my brainrot, my children (besides my actual child - Sorry K, LOL - and yes, she may only be three but she could absolutely point out Sebastian in a lineup), and they'll hold a special place in my heart for all time.
Thanks for being on this journey with me! It's been a blast. :)
And just because, here's my Sebastien relationship playlist, which I think I've only shared here on Tumblr once before. It has a lot of fun, upbeat songs on it. Enjoy!

From the Shadows Into the Light (Sebastian Sallow x Male MC)
Tumblr media
Final chapter of "Like Moths to a Flame" (Book One of the Like Moths to a Flame series)
[READ THE FULL SERIES] Fan Art ("I Missed You") by Aki
SFW
Summary: After the events of Hogwarts: Legacy, Sebastian Sallow gets a hug. Hurt/comfort
Snogging
Word Count: 1595
Sebastian Sallow x Damien Evans (Ravenclaw Male MC)
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘ THE FINAL WEEKS of school slipped by in a haze. Sebastian had a hard time doing anything, let alone focusing on his studies. His O.W.L.s last week were probably a complete disaster, although he truly hoped not. He dreaded receiving his results in August.
He hadn't heard from Anne again. Ominis spoke to him occasionally, but Anne never came up in conversation. Even Rupert and Henry were giving him a wide berth.
Intriguingly, Sebastian's sightings of Damien grew more frequent. It struck him as if Damien was surreptitiously keeping watch over him, observing from a distance. Unfortunately, Sebastian clammed up whenever he saw him. Against his better judgment, he would often find himself scurrying away when Damien got too close.
He still hadn't found a way to prove to Damien that he was willing to change. He was willing, wasn't he? His revelation that night in the depths of Hogwarts felt so long ago now. Perhaps it had merely been a passing thought that would never be realized. And yet...Sebastian was finding more ways to distract himself when dark thoughts crossed his mind. He read a lot more for pleasure. He took long walks along the lake, keeping an ever-watchful eye out for the giant squid. He even occasionally found himself wandering around Hogsmeade, hoping to stumble into something interesting. But whatever his preferred method of distraction, he was always alone, and the isolation was slowly killing him.
Sebastian stopped pacing the Undercroft and slumped against the wall, his hands in his hair. Desperation clung to him like a heavy shroud, and he instinctively shielded his face from the world, his arms forming a barricade of self-imposed solitude. He had skipped breakfast and lunch, perhaps even dinner last night. He couldn't remember. Sebastian briefly considered getting up and heading out the door for tonight's dinner, but he couldn't muster the energy to do so. He coughed weakly, holding back, to his horrified realization, the beginnings of a sob. As he grappled with the rising tide of despair, a haunting question clawed its way to the forefront of his mind: When was the last time he had allowed himself to cry?
Above him, a throat was discreetly cleared, startling him out of his troubled thoughts.
Sebastian opened his eyes. Even through the gaps in his arms, he would recognize those long legs and Ravenclaw robes anywhere. How long had Damien been here? He waited a moment to regain his composure before dropping his arms and lifting up his head.
"Bash?" Damien asked quietly. "Are you alright?"
Sebastian struggled to find his voice amidst his anguish, yearning to offer reassurance to Damien, but the words eluded him. Months of unspent emotions suddenly flooded from him, and he released a sob. Horrified, he collapsed in on himself, protecting Damien from his outburst.
But Damien didn't recoil or retreat. Instead, he crouched down beside Sebastian and wrapped him in his arms. The gesture was so shocking that Sebastian allowed himself to let the tears fall. He gasped in between sobs, releasing it all into Damien's embrace. After what felt like an interminable amount of time, his breaths came in more steadily and, with great care, Damien let him go. Sebastian looked up into Damien's eyes, which were staring intently back at him, searching him, piercing through him.
Damien didn't need to speak, but he did anyway. "Sebastian, there you are."
"I was always here," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
"No, not really," Damien said gently. "You seemed lost."
Sebastian let out a weary sigh. "I suppose you're right."
"I wanted to talk to you, you know. Many times. But you always ran away from me."
"I didn't know what to say," he sputtered in reply, wiping his eyes. "Merlin, I've been such an arse. How can I ever make it up to you?" When Damien didn't reply right away, Sebastian added quietly, "I - I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You really have no idea."
Damien grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers together. The familiar gesture comforted Sebastian. It had been so long since he had done that.
"Do you have somewhere to go this summer?" Damien asked.
Surprised by the question, Sebastian released a hollow laugh. "No, I honestly haven't thought about it at all."
Damien fidgeted with his robe, a hint of nervousness in his voice. "Come home with me," he muttered, almost too quickly for Sebastian to comprehend.
"What?" he blurted out, taken aback by the unexpected invitation.
Damien repeated himself, this time more clearly. "Come home with me. To London."
Sebastian was momentarily struck silent, his mind racing to process Damien's offer.
"I can easily explain your presence to my father, introduce you as a friend from Eton. We can come up with a plausible story. Don't worry, I'll handle it."
Sebastian's heart swelled with a mixture of gratitude and uncertainty. He cleared his throat, fighting back the emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "That's very generous of you. You're not...concerned?"
"Concerned? Why would I be concerned?"
Sebastian let out another heavy sigh, and fixed his gaze on the floor.
Damien released their intertwined hands and delicately brushed two fingers against Sebastian's chin, tilting his head upward. His gaze seemed to delve into the depths of Sebastian's very soul. "You made a mistake. A terrible one, yes," Damien acknowledged. His touch was a comforting anchor. Sebastian found himself unable to break eye contact, captivated by the intensity, but also the genuine kindness, reflected in Damien's golden-brown eyes.
"Do you regret it?" Damien asked softly as he dropped his hand back down.
"Of course I regret it." Sebastian's admission came forth with raw honesty. "I don't know what came over me. I despised Solomon, yes, but to go as far as killing him...I still don't understand how it happened. I know I must have meant it in the heat of the moment, but..." The weight of confusion and self-doubt burdened his words, his vulnerability finally laid bare before Damien.
"Desperation. Panic. Perhaps the relic," Damien suggested. And there it was. The relic. Sebastian should have known Damien would have picked up on the relic's hold on him. To hear it verbalized brought both relief and a deep sense of unease.
"You think this was the work of the relic? Even after it was destroyed?"
Damien nodded solemnly. "Yes, it had to have been. I'm not an expert by any means, but I suspect Dark Magic must have residual side effects." He paused, his gaze unwavering as he continued, "Sebastian, the mistake you made...it doesn't erase all the good in you. You have the capacity for redemption. I have to believe that."
Sebastian's breath hitched as he absorbed Damien's words. He felt a flicker of hope begin to ignite within him. "Thank you," he murmured, his voice filled with a fragile determination. "For listening...and understanding."
Damien nodded firmly. "I don't want you to be alone with these thoughts you're having. So come with me to London for the summer. Stay with me, and we'll face this together." He paused again briefly, as if in contemplation, then said, "My offer still stands as well. Let's see what we can find out about my abilities and how I can use them to cure Anne."
Sebastian stared at him, stunned. "You're serious."
"Absolutely. I mean every word. I'll send a letter to my father. We'll come up with something. But I want you to be somewhere safe, somewhere you can start to heal."
Sebastian's emotions swirled within him. He found his voice, albeit softly. "I... I don't know what to say."
"Just say yes. Please, Sebastian."
Sebastian grabbed Damien's hand and squeezed it tightly, a surge of warmth coursing through him. "Yes. I'll come."
And that's when Damien leaned forward and kissed him, for the first time in months. The kiss wasn't at all hesitant. It felt determined, confident, assured. Sebastian released Damien's hand and grabbed his head, lacing his fingers through his golden locks, returning the kiss greedily. He let the kiss linger, soaking in the instant as their connection deepened, their shared emotions intertwining in their desperate embrace.
Sebastian's mind was caught between the intensity of the moment and the weight of their circumstances, conflicted by the whirlwind of emotions that surged within him. When they came up for air, Damien rested his hand tenderly on Sebastian's cheek. As their foreheads pressed together, Sebastian surrendered to Damien's touch, his heart softening in the face of their shared vulnerability.
"I missed this," Sebastian mumbled, his lips softly brushing against Damien's, "I missed you."
Instead of speaking, Damien seized Sebastian by the tie, drawing him into a series of frantic kisses. Their lips met again and again and again, each kiss more passionate than the last, until the world around them faded into insignificance.
Sebastian hoped Damien could grasp the depth of his reciprocation—beyond mere months of suppressed longing, he was giving tribute to the bond they had forged. From this point forward, neither one of them would be alone in their struggles. Sebastian would be there for Damien, just as Damien had been there for him.
When they finally broke apart, their eyes locked, conveying a wealth of unspoken words and unexplored possibilities. If this brief encounter was a glimpse into what their summer together held, then Sebastian was prepared to face it all, with both its challenges and joys. Sebastian silently promised to himself that he would embrace whatever lay ahead.
Sebastian's lips curled into a quiet smile, mirroring Damien's expression. Together, they would be unstoppable.

Some Excerpts from Likes Moths to a Flame (Book One):
Ch. 2: Sebastian nodded, standing up from the table. "Well, I should get going. Can't keep my new charge waiting."
"Good luck." Ominis saluted.
Sebastian made his way out of the dining hall, his mind racing with questions and possibilities.
Who was Damien? What was his story? And why had he requested Sebastian specifically?
Sebastian would have to investigate for himself.
Ch. 6: "Looks like we were followed," Sebastian whispered.
Damien grimaced. "It seems so."
"Maybe we should invite them over to tea and have a nice chat."
"I guess we should be flattered," Damien replied, snickering under his breath.
Ch. 13: Sebastian, not one to be one-upped by a Gryffindor, followed Natty's lead, and when there was a small break between casts, shouted at Damien, "Give 'em what for!"
Damien scanned the crowd, searching for Sebastian, and when they made eye contact, tossed him a winning grin with an unexpected wink. Sebastian blushed.
It took Sebastian a moment to realize Natty had stopped watching the match and was looking at him with a curious expression.
"What?" Sebastian asked, his voice coming out rougher than he intended.
"He didn't wink at me."
"What do you mean?" he said, feigning ignorance.
Natty gave him a sly grin but kept quiet. She shifted her attention back to the duel.
Ch. 23: Sebastian's fingers tangled in Damien's hair, pulling him closer as their bodies pressed together. The feel of Damien's warmth against him was intoxicating. Damien smelled like fresh, uncut grass and the delicate aroma emanating from the pages of an old book. But there was something else lurking beneath the surface, a hint of excitement and the thrill of the unknown, as if he carried the essence of adventure itself in his very being.
Ch. 37: What did he want? He wanted Damien, without a doubt. Damien was his. But how could he say that without pushing him away?
