Floating and kayaking out of Sealers Creek into Sealers Cove (camp site directly behind). Come along on an East Coast 6 day tour 5 - 10 November 2018. Amazing scenery, special beaches, whales and dolphins jumping out of the water. Forests down to the water. #parksvictoria #kayakgram_feature #kayakgram #kayakporn #sealerscove #campinglife #wilsonspromontory #seakayaking #beachlife #whalewatching #whales #dolphins #seaweed #whalerock #seakayaking (at Wilsons Promontory National Park)

A sealed fate
The time comes to take to the trail but the sun is still nowhere to be seen. With the skies heavily shrouded in fog, it is apparent there will be no shining coastal views today. Slightly disappointed, we hang our heads and stagger forward up the soggy slope.
Soon though, bright colours begin to distract us from the persistant precipitation. Dasiy Bush and Tea Tree cut through the grey backdrop with bright white blooms, matched only by the intense yellow of the opportunistic Hop Goodenia which has flowered en masse on landslide effected slopes. It was here that flooding rains tore down onto the dirt four years ago causing massive walls of earth to shift. Though the winding trails have been rebuilt, extensive piles of exposed granite rock still remain unorganised, highlighting the powerlessness of man against nature itself.
Marching onward through the mist, the skies far from clear but slowly begin to hold back the swell. Once through the saddle, the vegetation changes; all encompassing, reaching at us across the trail. Old fronds from the tallest tree ferns droop towards the earth. Manna Gum bark which has been discarded in ribbons hangs over the lower branches, showcasing intricate designs handcrafted by natures smallest artists.
As the canopy closes in, the trail transforms from soil to wood, leading us effortlessly toward the coast. Now unhindered by the uneven surface of the earth, we become increasingly aware of our surrounds. Although with limited light, every tree, every bird, every wildflower; nothing goes unnoticed.
And when the light is finally let back in and the trail turns to sand, we cheer as the scene erupts in a clash of land and sea. Not perturbed by the low clouds of grey pushing down over the mountains, we take off our shoes and walk through the chilly water to camp.
After ten years, we finally have returned to Sealers Cove.
