canon divergence list

the original vilains with the largest territories and most power on the isle were maleficent, gaston, the red queen, and the brethren court

( as of desc 4 & with @fortitudinem's idea, the "red queen" on the isle was an imposter, the isle's red queen territories has since been swallowed by other factions of the isle and the imposter has "disappeared" )

i've never read the books so those aren't canon here unless plotted ooc with partners

harry hates and has always hated his father

if someone is in any way friendly with his father, then they are his enemy and he will go out of his way to make them miserable

he doesn't wear and has never worn a hook patch on his back, it's been either blank or it's been uma's jolly roger

he has always been antagonistic with the c4, never been friendly, never wanted to be friendly

uma started her "crew" before they ever hit puberty, they've been "running the streets" (obviously within reason, think teen hooligan ruffian gangs) since harry was like 10ish

he left the jolly roger at 16 and lived on the lost revenge

there were extremely violent and distructive riots that happened at the end of d1 and d2 that almost destroyed half of the isle's infrastructure which harry fought in both times

the auradon swords & shields team came with the c4 to rescue ben. members of the team and of uma's crew were killed in the fight

post d2 he became a pirate lord and temporary captain of the lost revenge

he was so cruel, ruthless, and violent that some would confuse him for his father

this was when harry started to "take over" his father's identity/reputation etc when people referred to "captain hook" they were talking about harry, not his dad

his pupils glow red when he's murderous/commiting murder

he was temporary captain for the entire 2 years that uma was missing

he didn't flirt with everyone in d2 (just jay, carlos, jane, but mostly with uma)

his hand was temporarily cut off in the fight with the armed statues (and was healed by uma)

he rescued celia from the tower while uma and mal defeated audrey

when the sea3 returned to the isle, uma immediately resumed her position as captain by unanimous vote

harry is quite happy to go back to being first mate

it took 6 months before the barrier was actually removed

uma is the pirate king of the isle, "voted" in by the people of the isle

auradon recognizes her as the ambassador to the crown for the isle

harry, as always, is her right hand man

he kills his father, steals his treasure hoard, takes his ship and his name

when people talk about captain hook nowadays, they are talking about harry

in desc 4 uma takes over as regent for auradaon while ben's absent

What's the worst splatana out there ol' kitty cat?

There are two different answers, depending on your ethics, to this question.

During the Turf Wars and when the Octarians experimented with living weapons they attached an octarian to a base. A standard swing would cause the now common swing and flick you see on the splatanas available today. After a small charge it could be flicked forward causing a whip-like motion in the octarian sword, it would paint a wide trail and splat the target. It was painful for both weapon and target! Those smaller octarians who survived were later retrained to be frontline soldiers.

Bad for a different reason, the Splatana Iai was an experimental splatana prototype (demonstrated at Sea3, a few years ago). This splatana could only perform a charged attack; for a very short charge period it would fire a thin jet of ink about as far as a Splattershot does. A patron of the convention yelled out "isn't this just a worse Bamboozler?" and the Splatana Iai was quietly discontinued. There are five known prototypes to exist.

only kidding. my biggest gripe is how weak the narrative got after the first film. i think it would have been great for d2, d3, and d4 to each be a film of one of the other c4 and explored their perspectives, challenges, and feelings as they did with mal in the first films. it would’ve given more guts to their friendship, dynamic, and also provided audiences to still view and enjoy shots of mal as a friend to the others, plus all the development of the others lives we never got to see. evie with doug and 4hearts, carlos with overcoming his fear of other dogs + growing desire to enter the veterinary business and jay’s experience with tourney and swords and shields, how he became captain and how he developed his leadership skills going from a grunt that just wants to be the fist, to the guy leading the charge and providing the opportunity for teamwork. the whole time there being clear evidence of ben working on bringing more kids from the isle to auradon, while it wouldn’t be the whole focus it would still be there.

also, i would have maintained the subtext of abusive parents and overcoming/healing from trauma and unlearning trauma responses.

within the same vein, getting a movie entirely from uma’s perspective between d2 and d3, taking place on the isle, documenting how she took over mal’s old beat and expanded her own territory, provided clear flashbacks of their rivalry as well as establish her dynamic with the crew but specifically harry and gil. explored the relationship between them and their parents and the parallel of the c4 having escaped their parents vs the sea3 having to endure their own.

there’s a whole lot of other stuff i don’t like about the franchise but i’m not going to get into it lmao

Disney Descendants AU - Asherah, Daughter of Ursula the Sea Witch

Asherah, like Hadrian, was not born on the Isle, but rather was bought in when her mother was captured.  Much to her despair Asherah has never been able to transform into natural ocean form due to the magic dispelling barrier.  From a young age Asherah has been told stories of the kingdoms under the sea, and how important deep ocean magical arts are.  She has spent the majority of her childhood learning potion making and the art behind ocean magic, however, to fully lean into her abilities she would need to leave the Isle. Despite only ever having legs, she has used this to her advantage and has been training with Hadrian and Gilles from a young age in sword play and other fighting techniques.

The three of them are thick as thieves, and when Hadrian was gifted the Sapphire for his 14th birthday, they began finding the crew to man it.  Asherah spends most of her time practicing with weaponry and reading as much as she can about sorcery; something herself and Mallory originally bonded over.  However, when their friendship came to a messy end over parental expectations and aspirations, the two became extremely bitter and what arose was the divide between the central Isle descendants and the west coast descendants.  Asherah, above all else is loyal, however, if crossed she will hold a grudge, something which is feared on the Isle.

When the Proposal was announced, Asherah was furious that she, Hadrian and Gilles had not been chosen.  She believed that they represented a better cross section of the Isle, and could better express the need for the Isles children to be let free. However, opportunities often arise when least expected, and when she sees Mallory’s admiration for King Benjamin, she sees her opening...

okay but what is sky high / sky u harry like? what would his powers be? what would uma and gil be like in that universe? what would his sisters be like? his dad? i am intrigued! (also yes there was supposed to be a scrapped sequel called save u but i went with sky u over save u because it'd keep the sky vibes going but anyways---)

he's probably a combination of desc!harry and modern!harry, still unhinged but doesn't have the added baggage of being imprisoned since birth. he's still angry, still morally corrupt, definitely still anti-villain coded.

powers are anger / violence inducement ( harry's already very physical and i don't wanna give him pyrokinesis since warren is right there lol ), it's up in the air if his powers are psychic or pheromone based, or if its some kind of mass or partial possession but it's linked to his own anger / violence. those around him become angrier, more violent, more brutal and ruthless, but harry can't manipulate or control how people respond or act when being induced. they could fight or they could turn that violence inward, it could be physical, mental, or emotional violence, it depends on the person. either way it's very useful in a fight and to create as much chaos in a short period of time. also for causing lasting psychological damage for those who don't know about his powers lbr.

uma and gil are combinations of their desc and modern selves too. uma's ambition is likely more individualistic / focused on her friends / crew rather than an entire community which frees her to pursue her own interests without this overwhelming sense of responsibility that desc!uma has. uma's either a water bender or a shapeshifter or smt. gil's as always a good boy but still just as unhinged and fighty as his desc counterpart. can probably talk to / tame beasts, maybe possess them or take on characteristics of beasts like eyes of a hawk or smt.

harriet's a workaholic at 14, lied about her age to get a job but was probably getting paid under the table before that. she's probably got some kinda nuclear world ending powers she can't use because too much and cj's a brat always and forever. she has luck based powers lbr. like jinx from dc or domino from marvel.

his dad's a villain ( are we surprised ), his mum's awol but probably a less known villain. i doubt sea3 were admitted to sky high. warren seems to be the only kid of a villain enrolled and he's a genuinely good person, i bet sky high has some kinda test or exam to get in and sea3 *could* lie to get in but would they? nah. there's probably some villain funded supervillain school they'd go to.
