#i think about him constantly#i think about his letters to siegfried#i think about my collection of his poetry that hides his love poem to sassoon in the very back of the book#past the acknowledgements and the index#scrawled on a notepad with the military hospital's letterhead#i think about how much he hated the war#and how sassoon taught him to hate it beautifully and passionately#i think about dulce et decorum est as one of the most prominent pieces of poetry to come out of the war#and how something so brutal and carnal and real came from the hand of a man desperate to replicate the person he adored#i think about how owen became more famous than sassoon#i think about how he died a week before the war ended
