Recollection/Grieving over oneself

At first I wanted to make this just an illustration of Gears standing there with his dead stare and nothing more. Yet, yeah, it went much farther than planned and I actually like how the styles conflict with each other here. Separating the dimensions quite alright. And hey, first time trying to visualise his wife? Either case her frame was the most relaxing to draw after the figure of Charles himself.

Yes, I mixed up artstyles that are not much compatible for this exact piece, and so what? Not that it stops me from putting Gears on his angst train nevertheless.

But yeah, this whole artpiece is inpsired by Matt Elliot's masterpiece named The Day After That and I am getting you all to listen to it because that's the vibe I can not properly describe yet one that in my opinion can be applied to our man so why not.
