This day in the history of the arts:

April 3rd, 1920: F. Scott Fitzgerald married fellow novelist Zelda Sayre at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York.

Fitzgerald and Zelda cancelled their engagement at least once before heading to the alter. They resumed their engagement after Fitzgerald's novel This Side of Paradise was accepted for publication by Scribner's, convincing Zelda that the author would be able to support her. This Side of Paradise was published nine days before the wedding, on March 26. It went on to become one of the most popular books of 1920.
