what is it with game developers and deprecating features instead of fixing them

i was trying since last night to play a song on scorespy because i still have to finish the tech fc of it but because the format of the song is encrypted but also uses a checksum that can be faked (its some dumbshit proprietary format instead of the typical format that 99.9% of other songs use) it cant be fucking played on scorespy and i cant downgrade to a version that supports it so im fucked basically

i feel like the response to practice mode in scorespy being not 100% reliable shouldnt be to just throw it away

theres a real genuine benefit to being able to try a section and get it down consistently and just throwing that away because a few bad actors abused its vulnerabilities is just narrow minded

it removes any possibility to find methods of ensuring practice mode gameplay has some sort of legitimacy (showing the modifiers screen, the full display of the player, having a scene setup that removes any chance of getting away with potential splices, etc.)
