"Does she know where we're sitting?" Eddie asks as they shuffle down the rows of plastic seats, his bulky digital camera hanging around his neck by the strap.
(Eddie wanted to bring their tour photographer, Cody, but Steve had to gently remind him that the school already had one hired. Eddie only sulked for an hour.)
Steve levels him a look. "If she doesn't see us, then she'll spot one of these goons and follow the line." He points over his shoulder to their accompanying party.
Wayne is directly behind him, followed by Robin and Chrissy. Jeff, Gareth, Freak, and the kids shuffle in behind them. As much as Eddie doesn’t like flaunting his celebrity status around, he had to call ahead the week before to request an entire row to be reserved just to fit all of them.
His baby is graduating kindergarten, he'll be damned if he doesn't pull out all the stops. They’re even having a little graduation party for her at the house afterwards—a backyard BBQ with everyone and the rest of the tour crew and family who couldn't make it to the ceremony.
Not long after everyone is seated, Pomp and Circumstance crackles out of the loudspeakers and the kids start to walk down the aisle in pairs. It's definitely not perfect, some kids take too-eager steps and some stop to hug their parents, but the teachers do their best to guide them.
Steve starts recording with his phone the second they spot Emma, the digital chime of Eddie's camera shutter clicking away beside him. Her curls are barely tamed in the side pony she asked Eddie to put it in, but it matches the whole 'rocker' vibe she's got going on.
Amongst the sea of summer dresses and pressed toddler slacks, their little girl is wearing her black denim battle vest over a light purple Hannah Montana shirt Steve had gotten at a yard sale, with a pale blue frilly tutu and a pair of silver glitter leggings and her black boots.
She looks nervous, though. Tense. Her shoulders are drawn up and her hands are clasped in front of her. Brown eyes dart this way and that around the room trying to spot a familiar face in the crowd and it breaks Steve's heart to watch his kid be so anxious. Her teacher said she did great at practice yesterday, but that was without the fifty pairs of eyes on her.
Mike is sitting on the end and she finds him easily, her eyes lighting up in recognition, but there's still a worried crease between her eyebrows that doesn't smooth out until she's locking eyes with her dads. She gives them a tiny wave as she walks by.
They both give her encouraging thumbs up and Eddie wishes he could just snatch her up and run out of the building with her.
They eventually get all the kids filed in and the principal stands behind the podium on the stage to welcome everyone. She goes through the awards first (Emma receives one for reading above her grade level, something that Eddie is very proud of) before the kids line back up to receive their little diplomas.
Halfway through the list, Eddie suddenly elbows Steve. "Shit, I didn't hear her name, did we miss her?"
His phone is still recording. "Dude, her last name is M, we're still in the J's."
"Oh, right."
Emma's class is only about 50 or so kids so it doesn't really take that long to get to her name, but Steve and Eddie are still vibrating with the anticipation.
"Emma Munson."
Immediately, their entire entourage is up on their feet and cheering and yelling. It's way too loud for the cafeteria setting they're in, and it echos, and you can definitely tell which of them are in the famous metal band.
Emma's little cheeks turn the same color as her glasses but her grin is big and wide as she holds her certificate in front of her for the picture. Both Steve and Eddie are rapid fire pressing the shutter buttons on their cameras.
Once she's off the stage, the principal clears her throat. "A reminder to please hold all applause until the end of the ceremony, thank you." She gives them a not-so-subtle glare over the rims of her own glasses.
Sheepishly, their group sits back down and is quiet once more.
"We're gonna be worse during her eighth grade graduation, right?" Steve whispers to Eddie.
"Oh, absolutely. She'll want to kill us afterwards."

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Bahara Rustam, 13, took her last class at Bibi Razia School in Kabul on Dec. 11 knowing it was the end of her education. Under Taliban rule, she is unlikely to step foot in a classroom again.
In September 2021, a month after U.S. and NATO troops withdrew from Afghanistan following two decades of war, the Taliban announced that girls were barred from studying beyond sixth grade.
They extended this education ban to universities in December 2022. The Taliban have defied global condemnation and warnings that the restrictions will make it almost impossible for them to gain recognition as the country’s legitimate rulers.
Last week, U.N. special envoy Roza Otunbayeva expressed concern that a generation of Afghan girls is falling behind with each day that passes.
Last week, an official in the Education Ministry said Afghan girls of all ages are allowed to study in religious schools known as madrassas, which have traditionally been boys-only. But Otunbayeva said it was unclear if there was a standardized curriculum that allowed modern subjects.
Bahara is holding onto her education and pores over textbooks at home. “Graduating (from sixth grade) means we are going to seventh grade,” she said. “But all of our classmates cried and we were very disappointed.”
There was no graduation ceremony for the girls at Bibi Razia School.
In another part of Kabul, 13-year old Setayesh Sahibzada wonders what the future holds for her. She is sad she can’t go to school anymore to achieve her dreams.
“I can’t stand on my own two feet,” she said. “I wanted to be a teacher. But now I can’t study, I can’t go to school.”
Analyst Muhammad Saleem Paigir warned that excluding women and girls from education will be disastrous for Afghanistan. “We understand that illiterate people can never be free and prosperous,” he said.
The Taliban have barred women from many public spaces and most jobs, all but confining women to their homes.

Holy cow, you are going through these requests super fast. Woah! Also congrats on graduating. So am I. This isn't detailed at all but maybe a graduation fic with Hyde or Kelso. You can do whatever you want with it.
Proud of You (Steven Hyde X Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Hyde never cared for school or big events that didn’t revolve around him getting wasted. But he always shows up for his favorite girl.
A/N: congrats on graduating to you too!! Also, reader is in Jackie’s grade. Also number 2, even though i write for hyde I DO NOT SUPPORT THE ACTOR!!! kk that’s all, hope you enjoy :) F/f means favorite flower
***
You loved your boyfriend; you really truly did. But part of you didn’t believe Hyde when he told you he would be in the front row of your high school graduation. He didn’t even show up to his own graduation! You expected him to forget and find him sitting in his chair in the Forman’s basement, watching some stupid show with the guys.
You still kept your hopes, though. Steven Hyde could always surprise you by showing that he cared. Besides, even if he didn’t come, your other friends would surely show up to see you and Jackie walk across the stage.
But as you sat in the overcrowded, echoey gym, all you could think about was making sure you didn’t miss your name being called by the class president. It was hard to focus with all the camera flashes and cheering families.
“Y/n L/n.” You stood up at the call of your name and moved through the chairs and up the stage. You heard cheers from the crowd of friends and families but couldn’t differentiate any of the voices. Grabbing your diploma and shaking the principal’s hand, you looked out to the audience. Unable to see anyone clearly, you shrugged and returned to your seat.
The ceremony felt like it went on forever. The names and claps seemed never-ending, but after God knows how long, caps were thrown, and you were released to meet with your families. Your family got to you before you could reach the bleachers. You were showered in affection, congratulations, and flowers.
So many flowers.
“Mom, you’re smothering me.” You laughed as your mom crushed you in her embrace and continuously kissed your cheeks.
“I don’t care. My baby graduated!” She took your face in her hands and peppered your forehead with more kisses. Your dad had to pull her off of you, whispering that you should go while you had a chance. As much as you loved your mother, you took that chance.
Speeding off, you looked all around to see if you could find any of your friends. It was an easy task; Kelso was a giant, so you were quick to find him smothering Jackie with affection while the rest of your friends surrounded them, clearly grossed out.
“Hey!” Donna spotted you first, bringing you into a hug before passing you around to everyone else. “We were starting to wonder where you were.”
“Mom got emotional.” You laughed as Eric patted your head, telling you, ‘Good job.’ Everyone else gave you the same sentiment, except for one. The one you were looking forward to the most. “Hey, where’s Hyde?”
“That’s weird,” Fez said, looking around the room. “He was just here.”
“Yeah, he’s around here somewhere.” Using his height advantage, Kelso searched through the crowd. His eyes lit up in recognition somewhere behind you, but he quickly turned around as if someone was telling him to look away. A few seconds later, you felt an arm around your shoulders, bringing your back to a familiar chest.
“Hey, Doll,” Hyde whispered in your ear, kissing the side of your head. “Congratulations.”
You squealed in delight, turning around in your boyfriend’s arm to hug and kiss him.
“I’m kind of surprised you’re here.” You looked down at the hand that wasn’t holding you. “With flowers.”
“Of course, I’m here, Y/n.” Hyde handed you the bouquet of F/f, making you thankful that you passed all the flowers you had already gotten to your dad before you ran off. His now free hand threaded through the hair at the back of your hair and brought you forward so he could kiss the top of your head. “I always show up for my girl.” You grinned.
“I’m so glad you came.”
“I’m proud of you, Doll.” Hyde leaned down to whisper into your ear. You could practically feel the smirk on his lips. “Maybe we should find an empty classroom so I can show you how proud I am.” You laughed, trying to ignore the heat rising in your face.
“Oh my gosh, shut up.”

Pairing ✮⋆˙ Go Kyungjun x Reader
Summary ✮⋆˙ Is it true that some situations are not coincidences?
"✮⋆ Second meeting with Kyungjun"
The new school year has officially begun.
The first day is always a little different because the start and opening speeches are not among classes but in front of the whole school, people are always not able to find each other among 800 other students, so they tend to sit next to a few of their friends they met with before getting into the building.
And this time was no different. Kyungjun sat with Seungbin and Jinha in the corner of the music hall, sits weren't the most comfortable ones they had been sitting on but they were able to manage.
After a few hours of the formalities of the opening ceremony, Kyungjun found himself among the other students disappearing from the building, the same thing happened to the two of his minions who were left on their own going to their houses to get some freedom before starting emotional rollercoaster of studying and being in the role of 'the bullies'.
Getting out of the crowd, his gaze locked onto a familiar figure standing near the school's exit doors. Familiar figure he remembered seeing fourteen days ago - the girl from the rainy day.
Maybe it was his heart - racing with curiosity - maybe it was his head telling him to get closer.
So he did, Kyungjun approached her.
After hearing some footsteps behind her she looked to the side. The girl spotted him and right away offered a warm (but small) smile, her eyes sparkling with recognition.
As they exchanged eye contact, Kyungjun felt a wave of this weird feeling wash over him. It was as if the rain from two weeks ago - which was also present today - had been a prelude to this moment right now.
Walking side by side a few steps they managed to get out of the school's door to stand next to each other right under a little roof.
"I have something.." he mumbled, then he took the lighter out of his uniform's front pocket, its engraved surface catching his eye.
To his surprise, Y/n shook her head, a playful smile on her face. "Keep it, I don't smoke".
Kyungjun blinked in confusion, a little taken aback by her response, "Then why did you give it to me?".
"I like watching the flame dance and move in the air, plus I figured you might need it more than I did"
Kyungjun felt a warmth spread through him at her words with a sense of gratitude. But also he realized something, maybe he didn't even know yet about it but for him, this girl was someone more than a nice, playful stranger he met on the street this rainy day. She was like a beacon of kindness and understanding in a world that often felt cold. She was the complete opposite, but the universe still made them fall into each other.
With a nod, he slipped the lighter back into his pocket. As he stood there he realized something, "I never 'really' got your name", he admitted.
"I suppose it's written on the lighter, but officially, I'm Lee Y/n"
"Go Kyungjun", he responded with a knowing look, it was embarrassing, yes, but a nice question to keep the conversation going, wasn't it?
And so were they standing there, under the little roof waiting for the rain to stop since none of them had an umbrella, something more clicked in their heads, but this time the girl decided to ask question quicker than him. "You are a student of which class?"
Bingo!
He responded to her, and so did she - they were in the same.

The Best News of Last Week 🐧
1. ‘Robin Hood’ energy strikers give free power to French schools, hospitals, low-income homes
Tumblr media
Amid national strikes in the energy sector, some workers in France have found a novel way to protest. On Thursday, "Robin Hood" operations – unauthorised by the government – provided free gas and electricity to schools, universities, and low-income households throughout the country.
Among the facilities provided free energy were public sports facilities, daycare centers, public libraries, some small businesses and homes that had been cut off from power.
2. UK scientists discover method to reduce steelmaking’s CO2 emissions by 90%
Tumblr media
Researchers from the University of Birmingham have developed an innovative method for existing furnaces that could reduce steelmaking’s CO2 emission by nearly 90%.
The iron and steel industry is a major cause of greenhouse gasses, accounting for 9% of global emissions. That’s because of the inherent carbon-intensive nature of steel production in blast furnaces, which currently represent the most-widely used practice.
3. Watch this cargo ship fly a giant kite to save fuel and cut emissions
Tumblr media
The 2,700-square-foot parafoil is helping to tow the cargo ship and lessen the workload of the massive diesel engines — reducing the ship’s use of dirty fuel.
4. Scientists discover emperor penguin colony in Antarctica using satellite images
Tumblr media
A newly discovered emperor penguin colony has been seen, using satellite images of one the most remote and inaccessible regions of Antarctica.
The colony, home to about 500 birds, makes a total of 66 known emperor penguin colonies around the coastline of Antarctica, half of which were discovered by space satellites. Emperor penguins are the only penguins that breed on sea ice, rather than land, and are located in areas that are very difficult to study because they are remote, inaccessible and can experience temperatures as low as −60C
Kowalski, analysis!
5. Dungeons & Dragons Scraps Plans to Update Its Open Game License
Tumblr media
Wizards of the Coast, publisher of Dungeons & Dragons, announced yesterday that it will no longer be pursuing deauthorization of the Open Gaming License 1.0a. The deauthorization of the OGL 1.0a was a huge sticking point for fans and third-party publishers who made a living using a license that was granted nearly two decades ago.
6. Turning problem sea algae into a replacement for plastic
Tumblr media
Excessive outbreaks of seaweed and microalgae are clogging up waters from the Caribbean to the Baltic. Now both are being harvested alongside farmed crops to create ingredients for cosmetics and food products.
7. German parliament officially commemorates LGBTQ victims of Nazi regime for first time.
Tumblr media
The German parliament for the first time on Friday focused its annual Holocaust memorial commemorations on people persecuted and killed over their sexual or gender identity during World War II. Campaigners in Germany have worked for decades to establish an official ceremony to commemorate the LGBTQ victims persecuted under the Nazi regime.
“Today’s hour of remembrances focuses on a group of victims which had to fight for a long time to achieve recognition: people who were persecuted by the National Socialists because of their sexual orientation or their gender identity,” Baerbel Bas, president of the Bundestag lower house, said while opening a ceremony marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation.

We Are the Series - final thoughts
There are so many reasons that I like watching series & movies from other countries. It's such a great way to broaden my perspective and to get outside of my bubble. To see the big differences in how people live around the world, as well as the little differences in day to day life. To better understand cultural norms, and storytelling norms, and how my own cultural bias intersects with both.
There's also all the beautiful cultural details, getting to see ceremonies and festivals and holidays. To see the beauty of the landscape. To listen to the language, and start picking up little expressions and to appreciate the nuances.
But along with all of the learning opportunities, I also absolutely love it when I watch something from a different culture, and have that "oooh" moment of recognition. That moment when you realize that regardless of culture, what is being depicted on screen is resonating deeply. Because someone halfway around the world has had an experience in common with you.
Let me tell you about my college friends.
It was pure dumb luck that we all met. An utterly random assortment of chance. But somehow this group of awkward nerds all blundered together within the first few weeks of college. Most of us were introverts. We were from all parts of the U.S. We came from all types of families. We were Agnostics, Christians, and Pagans. Over time we would intersect with other groups, we all had different majors, different casual friends & study buddies, people dated, people broke up, but our core group of friends was together all four years.
We didn't like going to parties much, it was too loud and crowded. We got drunk together, where we felt safe and happy. We'd go to the school dances as a group, and be silly. We'd sing songs (usually badly). We'd dance in the rain. We would sit on the roof of our dorms and read stories to each other. We would end up at the local playground at midnight when the slides & swings would belong only to us. As we got older and started being entrusted with keys to academic buildings, we'd go in late and play, having rolling chair races in the long hallways or playing sardines. We'd tease each other, and sometimes laugh so hard we could barely breathe.
We also were there for the breakups and the burnout. For the roommate conflict, and the family hurt. For the coming outs.
Of course things do change when you graduate, and we all dispersed back to separate parts of the U.S. (one of the disadvantages of living in such a huge-ass country). But we still keep up. We still can come together and have fun. Some of us play games together. Some of us travel together. Some of us still talk every single week, because we are family, and that's been the case for over 25 years.
I had a moment, when watching this show, where I realized that P'New must have had some amazing friends in his life. Because he just made a love letter to them.
And the friends in this show - they're my friends. Not in a one-on-one comparison kind of way, but in a "this is my little group of idiots too" kind of way. The playfulness, the freedom from judgement, the encouragement, the support, the love. The knowing that even if life pulls some of them further apart, that the way they are loving each other unconditionally now will always matter.
There are other things I liked about the show, I've talked about tropes before and how I enjoyed P'New playing with them in a "eff off with this old school BS" kind of way, the romances were fun and cute, but ultimately, this show was 100% about love for friendship to me. About what it means to find your people, to make your family, to choose love in all its forms without holding one kind higher than another. And to appreciate it when you have it, because it is so damn special.
How can I possibly come out of this feeling anything but good?

Just dropping by this morning to say that i am so f*cking proud of Seb right now. Like....i'm always proud, but the this year hr's been really knocking it outta the park. The buzz around him this year is just *chefs kiss* And the whispers of a possible Oscar nod? Icing on the cake. He's worked so hard for so long, and he nails every role he takes, and he's finally getting the really big, serious recognition that he so rightly deserves. I feel like one of those obnoxiously loud and proud parents at a school awards ceremony - "THAT'S MY BOY!! THAT'S👏MY👏BOY👏!!!!" He's come so far since i first saw him as the nervous lil' nugget on the red carpet at the CATFA premiere, i'm beyond happy for our chaotic sunshine puppy 💜💜💜💜
And you just know that all the amazing reviews about his performances this year have been setting off his praise kink like crazy. Our lil' Subastian is getting his crops watered and his skin cleared this year!
(I just had to come and gush in you inbox cos i know you'll get it).
My love!!! 💫 Oh, I get it, I get it SO MUCH ❤️❤️I'm so proud of him I could burst, I swear 🥹 You said it all really, he's come such a long way and he's worked so hard, staying true to himself and not talking the easy route, and I couldn't be prouder if I tried 🙏🏻 I can only imagine what great things are still to come for our boy 🥹 Can't WAIT to find out!!! Just as I can't wait to see him blush and giggle his way through all that well-deserved praise along the way 👀🥰
I LOVE that you've been here from the start and you're still as supportive of him as ever ❤️❤️ You're the real deal, and I'm sure he'd be so happy to know he's got a fan like you 😘
This is us at all times and I think that's very cute of us:

" Hermano, Serge! "
The Spaniard blinked as he noticed his sister waving her hand in front of him, he hadn't realized the fact that he'd been spaced out for the better part of their conversation - the pair had met for lunch, and while Sergio appreciated the time he got to spend with his sister, especially now at this part of his career, his mind had been rattled by a deep rooted issue for the past few months, an issue that involved the feelings he'd harbored for someone for the past three years, someone he couldn't see himself living without.
It all started when he made his triumphant return to Sevilla, his home town club, the place where his career started, he'd managed to win La Liga as well as Copa Del Rey; despite his contract being a one year deal, he'd been convinced by the manager Diego Alonso to renew, the renewal decision mostly prompted by his desire to be around her, the club's bubbly photographer - he still recalls their first encounter; it was that encounter that set his unrequited love ablaze.
" I'm sorry Miri " He murmurs in shame.
Mirian raised a brow, " What's your deal? you've been spacing out a lot? "
He looks down then looks back up with rosé colored cheeks which caused her eyes to widen in shock, with a soft smile across her lips as she said. " No ... you're in love "
" What! " He retorts defensively, and shakes his head. " No, No ... "
" Serge, I'm your sister ... and your cheeks are exposing you " Mirian giggles. " So come on, tell me ... who is she? "
He seemed hesitant for a brief moment before he finally relented, he lets out a soft sigh. " It's the photographer in the club "
Mirian frowned in confusion, before her eyes widened in recognition. " You mean that gorgeous girl I saw during your introduction ceremony "
He nods leisurely, recalling how he was so enchanted that he wasn't able to speak properly for the first few minutes, " Yes, and I ... I mean, we are close, but we're just friends "
Mirian raised a brow, " You didn't tell her? "
" How can I Miri? she's ... " He trails off with a soft sigh, " She's gorgeous "
Mirian grew silent before giggling, " I never thought I'd see the day where you become so flustered over a girl, I don't think I've ever seen you like this since ... Sofia back in high school, come on tell me about her "
He blushes then began to gush over her, recounting every bit he had noticed about her, " Miri, I can't even begin to explain how I feel " he chuckles in embarrassment before adding on, " Every time I see her, I feel like a love sick teenager "
" I bet you do " Mirian giggled, " And why didn't you tell her? "
" Well, there's the fact that she's nine years younger than me and the fact that she gets along with the younger players which makes me self conscious " He murmurs.
Mirian rolled her eyes, " I think you of all people should know that nine years isn't that much, she's what twenty eight, and on top of that, you are a catch hermano and any woman who doesn't see that, ... well it's their loss, I say .. you should invite her for dinner, or maybe ask her out, to try and see how things should go "
" You think she'll accept? " He wonders.
" Of course she will " Mirian said, " I trust that she will "
_
Since that conversation, he'd tried to muster up the courage to admit his emotions, only for hurdles to come in the way preventing him from doing so each and every single time - Until, on one unexpected rainy night as he was on his way to run some errands, he found him self thoroughly soaked which caused him to seek shelter under a bus seat, he was about to phone Mirian when suddenly he heard a soft familiar face.
" Sergio! "
He looked up to find her approaching him, carrying an umbrella - she joined him under the bus seat and said. " What are you doing? "
" I was -uh- ... -um- ... " He struggled before chuckling, " I was running some errands and then rain happened "
She giggled, which drew out a smile from him. " Why aren't you driving? "
" My car is getting fixed, and I was going to phone my sister to come pick me up " He chuckled, his face red from embarrassment.
" I can take you home " She offered with a soft tone, before adding quietly. " Or ... if you'd like, I make a very nice hot chocolate "
He smiles to himself, as the distance between them lessened - their arms touching every now and then; just as he turned to respond, their lips collided in a soft peck causing both of them to widen their eyes then look away, both blushing from the sheer embarrassment of what happened, she opened then closed her mouth, " I'm ... I'm sorry, I ... "
" No, I ... I'm sorry " He said with an embarrassed tone before his face shifted. " You know what, I'm not sorry "
Her brows knit in confusion, " What do you mean? "
He didn't respond verbally, instead he pulled her in for a searing passionate kiss that lasted for about a minute before he pulled back and licked his lips, " I've been wanting to do this for the past three years "
" What? " She whispered in shock.
" Muñeca " He smiles softly, " I've been in love with you since the day I saw you, and I tried to hold myself back, I really did but I can't do it anymore "
" Oh ... I had no idea " She giggled, " in fact I .. I've been harboring my own feelings but I thought someone like you wouldn't feel the same way "
He chuckles, " I guess we both held back, but not anymore "
She kissed him, " not anymore "

For decades, a trio of roadways in Winnipeg bore the name of a bishop who led the campaign for residential schools.
Today, new names for a new chapter.
On National Indigenous Peoples Day, elders, knowledge keepers, and city and provincial officials gathered at a renaming ceremony for Abinojii Mikanah.
Among dancing and fiddling and prayer, reflection on the tough road travelled to arrive here and the hopes for a smoother one ahead.
"Abinojii Mikanah is an opportunity for all of our children to walk over that bridge. We are very humbled and thankful for the recognition and acceptance," Frank Beaulieu, an Anishinaabe Knowledge Keeper from Sandy Bay First Nation, said at the ceremony Friday.
The changes come after city council voted in April to approve a bylaw change that formally renamed the three streets that once paid tribute to Bishop Vital Grandin.
What were once known as Bishop Grandin Boulevard, Bishop Grandin Trail, and Grandin Street are now called Abinojii Mikanah, Awasisak Mēskanôw, and Taapweewin Way, respectively.
"The renaming of these streets is more than a symbolic gesture - it is a step, an important step for our entire community, our city, our province, our nation toward reconciliation, acknowledging past injustices and honouring the resilience and the strength of Indigenous communities," said Mayor Scott Gillingham.
What's in a name?
While new signs have been up for weeks, Friday's ceremony made the name changes official.
The new names were chosen by an Indigenous naming circle made up of elders, residential school survivors, knowledge keepers, and youth.
"The goal was to select names that honour Indigenous experience and Indigenous culture," Gillingham said.
Abinojii Mikanah means “The Children’s Way/Road” in Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe, and is meant to honour the experiences of Indigenous residential school and day school survivors, and those who didn't make it home.
Awasisak Mēskanôw means children and journey, and represent the "journey" that was discussed during the consultation process.
Taapweewin means truth in Michif, and is an effort to include each of the seven languages outlined in the Manitoba Aboriginal Languages Recognition Act.
A legacy reconsidered
The previous roads were named for Bishop Vital Grandin, whose legacy has been reconsidered following the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's final report.
In addition to its 94 calls to action, it included a detailed history of the residential school system in Canada, and identified the bishop as one of its architects and champions.
He appealed to the federal government to increase grants to these schools and encouraged the building of industrial schools in Western Canada.

chapter ten of "meddle about" series brian o'connor x reader
x. electric blue
Five years have passed since that day.
Five years since she lost one of her best friends.
Five years since she last saw Dom, Leon, or Vince.
Five years since she lost the love of her life.
Life's been quiet since then.
Mia graduated college and eventually got a job at the firm she's always wanted to work for. Monty moved in with them as well. It didn't bother Y/n one bit as he was the person who made Mia the happiest. And her happiness is the only thing keeping Y/n alive.
Y/n decided to go back to school, finish up the degree she was majoring in. She eventually graduated and got a job. She was floating, but barley.
But one morning, her life preserve sunk completely.
Y/n was awoken by her phone ringing. She groaned for a moment, annoyed by the sudden wake-up call. She looked and saw it was Mia; her and Monty were in a different state for a work thing. She eventually sighed and answered the phone.
"Hello?" Y/n said with a yawn. She was wide awake once she heard sniffling on the other side of the phone. "Mia? What's wrong?"
"She's gone, Y/n." She sniffled once again. "She's gone."
"Who's gone?" Mia didn't answer right away. "Who, Mia? Who's gone?"
"Letty." Y/n's heart dropped. Tears filled her eyes as she took a shaky breath in.
"How?" she asked.
"She was murdered, Y/n."
"Brothers and sisters," the priest said. "we have gathered here to pay our final respects."
Brian O'Conner stood in the distance, watching the ceremony take place. He looked different. Older. His blonde hair was shorter while he was sporting a little scruff. He stood by the cars, looking at one person in particular. Y/n Toretto.
After five years of longing for her, there she was in all her beauty. She looked as she did when he'd last saw her. Just as beautiful, just as golden as the days he'd visit her in the shop.
One of the other agents slid up beside him and said, "Facial recognition software matched Toretto about ten minutes after he crossed the border." Brian watched as Y/n comforted her younger cousin. "I don't get it. I thought he'd show."
And in that moment, her eyes finally met his.
Y/n couldn't believe it. There he was, in all his glory, standing next to a couple sleek, black cars. His eyes blared into hers, seeing every aspect of heartbreak that was swimming in them.
She was the first one to look away, and it was the first time she'd had the strength to look away from those electric blue eyes.
Mia slept over in Y/n's room. I mean Y/n wasn't complaining. All the girl wanted was comfort from the only family she had at the moment. Eventually, Mia fell asleep with dried tears staining her face. She's been on and off since the funeral earlier that day, and Y/n couldn't blame her.
Y/n eventually got up and started rummaging around the house, cleaning and getting rid of anything that they didn't need.
"Hey." Monty said, coming into the kitchen where Y/n was washing the dishes.
"Hi." Y/n mumbled, glancing over at him.
"How is she?" he asked, knowing Mia was crushed by the fall of their friend.
"She's upset." Y/n replied. "I mean, I don't blame her. Letty was family."
"How are you?" Monty asked, hesitantly. Y/n was so worried about Mia's emotions that she hasn't even gotten to grieve herself. Of course when she got the news, she sobbed but ever since, she's been quiet. She'd busy herself, just wanting to distract herself from reality.
"I'm fine." she shrugged. Monty gave her a look, not believing her one bit. "Seriously, I don't dwell on things too much. I mean of course I'm upset about it, but it's a part of life, things happen, ya know."
"I saw Brian." Monty said, finally after a beat of silence.
"Yeah, me too." Y/n whispered, remembering those blue eyes glaring into hers. She finished the dishes, and started to move towards the table where a box sat. "Uh, I'm gonna take this to the garage."
Monty nodded, worried for his friend. He's never seen her this anxious, frantic even. But he didn't want to push it. He didn't want her to crack.
Y/n walked out of the back door, box in hand, and into the garage. She put the box down on one of the old tables. Suddenly, she heard a rustling from the back of the shed. She turned to see the last person she'd ever thought standing behind her.
"Dom." she mumbled, teary eyed. Y/n then ran towards him, pulling him into a tight hug. "You shouldn't be here. They're staking the place out. If they find you here..."
"They won't." Dom said. "Look at you." Dom pressed a hand onto her cheek. "You're grown up."
"Yeah, you can say that." Y/n's tears finally welled over, streaming down her cheeks.
Dom looked around in silence, soaking up the moment. As he did, he thought of the memories this place holds. The team, his family....Brian. He remembered when he had that conversation about his dad in this place. Dom thought he could trust him but obviously his trust was burned to the ground.
His eyes then fell onto his dad's old challenger. He glanced at Y/n before going over and inspecting it.
"Letty and I wouldn't let them junk it." Y/n commented "When she came back, we'd always be in here. Trying as hard as we can to try and fix it up, ya know. Day and night. It was weird. I think we just knew you'd come back."
"I wanna see the crash site." Dom told her, tears filling his eyes.
