I've had grander houseplant xmas eve floral shows but I will welcome what I've gotten all the same

My Schlumbergera have often bloomed long before or after xmas so it's amusing to see it bloom on the dot. The Peace Lily spathe-in-progress is a surprise though, much less from the rougher plant of the peace lily pair!

In the glasshouse corridor at Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK, a hanging basket of Schlumbergera × buckleyi (Christmas cactus) is flowering. This plant is a hybrid between Schlumbergera truncata and Schlumbergera russelliana, both epiphytes from the forests of Brazil. It grows best in well-drained compost in bright light but not direct sunlight and with a minimum temperature of 10°C.
