The Dethchildren (Toki, Skwisgaar, and Murderface) playing Uno. Or go fish. I just think they would be way too intense over it.
This was so fun sorry it took so long 😋 Based off of my own intense uno experiences. I imagine they’re all equally shit at the game but Toki stays reserved and revels in the chaos while the others arguing and slips right under their radar to win. Peace and love ❤️

This is kind of DenSu related, I guess. What are your thoughts on the Scandinavian trio during the Kalmar Union? I have my own thoughts, but would love to hear yours.
June 6th, 2024 was the 501st anniversary of Sweden leaving the Kalmar Union!
The Kalmar Union era was a fascinating and widely misunderstood period that strongly affected the region. I wrote a list of common misconceptions, a summary of the period plus a thought experiment about how it might have affected Mathias and Björn under the cut!
It really topples my chimney to see people use the Kalmar Union period to justify why DenSu would have an unhealthy relationship. Here is a quick summary of the most common misconceptions in the fandom about the union:
Sweden was forced into the union. No, the union was a voluntary agreement proposed by Denmark to combat a powerful union of German states that would threaten the Nordic states' dominance in the Baltic Sea region.
The union was a period of severe oppression for Swedes. No, the first 50 years of the union were peaceful and the union achieved its goal of creating a unified Nordic region. The conflicts began later in the union's lifespan as the Danish authorities attempted to centralize power under the Danish crown and attempted to introduce laws that the Swedes deemed unfavorable.
The Stockholm Bloodbath was a civilian massacre. No, it was a mass execution of politically influential anti-union aristocrats as punishment for coordinating armed rebellions against the Danish king.
I'll be honest: the way I write Mathias, Björn, their backgrounds and their roles in society, they would have no interactions with each other that were motivated by the union. The idea is that in my Nationverse, all immortals live as unassuming citizens. They could take on political roles, but they'll have to work hard to climb the ladder like anyone else, and they can't hold on to power forever (as they would have to "die"). Björn in particular lives in northern Sweden, very far away from the conflicts that arose as a consequence of the union.
The Kalmar Union was a mutual agreement proposed by Queen Margareta of Denmark and agreed upon by various leaders of Sweden. The union was established in 1397. The goal of the union was to combat the increasingly powerful Hansen union between the German states. The two member states agreed to collaborate economically, establish a common foreign policy and provide military support to each other. Danish King Erik was crowned as the king of the union.
Because Denmark was the most populous member of the union then and the union's leadership was overwhelmingly Danish, the Swedes grew increasingly dissatisfied at the union. They believed that its terms transferred power to Denmark and were unfairly disadvantageous to Sweden. The first protest of the union, the Engelbrekt Rebellion of 1434, was in response to a tax hike across the union to fund Denmark's war against German state Holstein. Swedes were already unhappy at being drafted into Denmark's faraway war, which came with the additional disadvantage that Sweden, as a member state in their union, wasn't able to export to an important trade partner. This pattern of events (Denmark doing something that didn't benefit Sweden, Swedes protesting against it) continued over the next century and built a strong anti-union political current.
The Stockholm Bloodbath was the tipping point of the anti-union movement. Swedes, thoroughly exhausted of the union by the 1500s, protested the crowning of Danish King Kristian II as the King of Sweden. Several influential aristocrats associated with the pro-independence Sture Party coordinated civilian rebellions against Kristian II, but were unsuccessful in overthrowing him. The Danish and Swedish authorities came to an agreement that Kristian II would be crowned King of Sweden, while the Sture Party associates would be granted amnesty. Kristian II invited these aristocrats to his coronation in Stockholm under the guise of a peaceful meeting, only to carry out his true plan to walk back on the agreement and execute them for treason. Unsurprisingly, this only strengthened the anti-union sentiment and Sweden, led by Gustav Vasa, exited the union in 1523. (The remainder of the Party also opposed Vasa and were executed by him several years later.)
Now you all know why I always roll my eyes at the notion that Björn would have been executed at the Stockholm Bloodbath. It explicitly suggests that he was a prominent political figure with anti-union sympathies who had a hand in orchestrating a rebellion against the King of the Kalmar Union. I really do not like writing these fictional characters as having significant influence in a universe that's about experiencing real history. The way I write the characters is that they live as regular citizens unnoticed by humans, while their interpersonal relations with other immortals are partially based on historical events. The character's home region factors strongly into their life story and relationships as well, which is why my Northern Swedish Björn has a much less violent rivalry with Mathias than a Southern Björn would.
The relationship between Mathias and Southern Björn during this period could be represented as them agreeing to work together against a common threat, but their differences eventually tore them apart and made them enemies. They wouldn't be enemies or have a one-sided relationship in the present day. Björn could possibly have participated in some of the many anti-union rebellions that were carried out by armed civilians, although it's unlikely that he would have come face-to-face with Mathias in combat unless Mathias was serving in the Danish Army. Denmark did not have independent civilian combatants.
Many other inhumane attacks against civilians occurred during this period that could justify a more hateful relation between these two, but I do not treat these characters as representatives of their states, leaders, governments, monarchies, authorities and so on. Their beliefs and life stories are a combination of the culture of the people they represent and their unique experiences. Their lives aren't reenactments of their authorities' every decision.

the scandinavian trio having a past just as a trio (before they became the nordic 5) is so special and real to me❤️
also I am just wondering, since this seems to be a topic scandinavians have different opinions about; in your headcanon, who do you think is the oldest, middle child, and youngest? I am norwegian, and in my opinion Sweden is the oldest, Denmark the middle child, and norway the youngest.
The trio means so much to me as well, I really love to meddle with their characters! It has this closeness about it, it makes me feel so warm at heart 🫶
I actually headcanon Denmark to be the oldest, Sweden the middle and Norway the youngest, but Denmark and Sweden I would say have the TINIEST, most unimportant age gap!
I headcanon them to have been born around the ending of the ice age, and since the ice first left what we today know as modern day Denmark and brought with it liveable temperatures, plants and fauna, I see him being (SLIGHTLY) older because of this.
The southern part of Sweden was inhabited very soon after Germanic tribes migrated northwards and settled into community tribes in Modern-day Denmark (Jutland in particular) so I see Denmark being older but he's basically the same age that Sweden is.
Though I'm absolutely sure they fight over who's older and measure it down to the MINUTE, despite neither having any memory of themselves being born.
#ask#hetalia ask#hetalia#hetalia headcanons#Hetalia scandinavian trio#hetalia denmark#hetalia sweden#hetalia norway#I also headcanon Mathias to have been more ginger in his hair color in the beginning#But it fades into beige blonde over time#They also started out with different names#Asger(DK) Björn(SE)#I'm caught between for Norway naming him 'Halvor' and 'Folke'#Anyways 💅

I like to think that as kids the Scandinavian trio would play fun games together but it always resulted in a fight between Sweden and Denmark. Every single time, Sweden would argue “you can’t do that! It’s not realistic!!” And Denmark would counter, “it’s a game! Who cares if it’s realistic?” And after a few minutes of bickering they’d shout “Norrrggggeeeeeee” because the decision of whether they should go more realistic or imaginary always fell on Norway’s shoulders.
And then sometimes they still weren’t happy with Norway’s decision and the fight never ends.

what type of muggle music/bands/artists do you think that the trio era characters + the marauders would listen to? sorry if this seems like a weird question..
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐏 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞
Ooh, another music question! I only did the Golden Trio and The Marauders minus Peter, lemme know if you want anyone else 🌷🌿🌻
a/n: I'm not taking time into consideration...
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ
・The Marauders love Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees (fun fact, my Pa lived on the same street as them when he was a kid and they would play together)
・The Marauders would so reenact the scene from Mamma Mia when Donna is crying in the bathroom and Chiquitita comes on
・The Golden Trio all love Lizzo. Harry loves her confidence, Ron loves her charisma and is attracted to her and Hermione loves how uplifting her songs can be
𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲
・Is a lot more well-versed in muggle music
・So when he shows Ron all the different types of muggle music, he understands a glimpse of what everyone felt when they were showing Harry the magical world.
・Headcanon that Harry somehow saves up his money to buy a walkman (one of those things that you put cd's in to listen to it) or a small portal radio or takes one of Dudley's many birthday presents. Anway, it's a way for Harry to listen to music. He is a maladaptive daydreamer (like us!!!) and would sneak off from the Dudley's house to lay down in the grass and have his headphones on, getting lost in music
・He has a broad range of musical taste
・From classical, to beautiful movie scores, to old music to new.
・I do think that Harry would be a bit of a metal head though, and he would love Korn, Rob Zombie, and Godsmack.
・Feels a personal connect to the song Me and the Devil by Soap&Skin. It's how he felt during the height of Voldemort's power.
・Underground !!! By Cody Fry !!! Has amazing daydreams about the song!!!
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞
・Like Harry, she knows muggle music a lot better than the others
・Might be a bit of a shock, but she loves Viking-esque music. Her favourite bands are Folknery and Dakha Brakha. She has gets this surge of power whenever their songs play. As if she can feel the magic running through her veins
・Hermione loves music that moves her. That has a bit of umph - so I think she would like the Alabama Shakes, specifically their album Sound & Colour
・Secretly loves Cardi B's songs (YEAH IT MIGHT BE A REACH BUT C'MON, she'd totally be in her room studying to her classical music when out of the blue Cardi comes on and Hermione is like *... okay, I can dig it.*)
𝐑𝐨𝐧
・Unironically loves the Black Eyed Peas
・And goes hard for Rasputin by Boney M.
・Would make fun of Hermione for liking the Viking/Scandinavian type of music. But Hermione only needs to give him a death glare and he apologises ...
・THE WEASLEY'S WOULD BE A DISNEY SINGING FAMILY. Harry would show them all the classics (I mean, I doubt that the Dursley's let him watch much tv. But maybe they just sat Harry in front of the tv for most of his childhood???) The Weasley's reference the movies to each other all the time, and Harry feels a sense of pride because he's shown them something from his world
・Would follow a lot of the popular trends and have pride in knowing the words to all the popular songs.
・Fred & George walked in on Ron White Girl Dancing to Stargirl Interlude by Lana Del Rey once
𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬
・Bad Reputation by Joan Jett
・I Was Made For Lovin' You by KISS
・Likes a lot of the classics
・Holding Out For A Hero!!! Would absolutely belt it in class and jump up on the tables thinking McGonnagal wasn't in class:
"That was quite the performance, Potter. Now sit down. And I'll be seeing you every night for a week's detention."
・Would definitely sing ABBA's When I Kissed the Teacher for McGonnagal, and it would make her blush but also another week of detention (he got on the table again)
𝐒𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐬
・Loves belting out I'd Rather Go Blind by Etta James. It gets him in his feels.
・Really fell in love with the 60s and 70s era of music. Some of his favourite singers are Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin and Nina Simone
・You Know I'm No Good by Amy Winehouse! He'd become obsessed with her. He feels truly connected to her music because of how alone he feels in the world
・Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by Nina Simone would bring him to tears the first few times he listens to it
・Music was a way for Sirius to escape into his own world while at the Black household
・Created playlists for the people he cares about. They're songs that 1. he thinks they'll like 2. songs that remind him of them 3. songs that represent them
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐮𝐬
・Loves David Bowie!!! Definitely would want to dress up as him for Halloween (can you imagine a little marauder halloween party??)
・HOZIER HOZIER HOZIER HOZIER. Oh my god, some of his favourites would be Cherry Wine and Sunlight. The soul, the guttural... umph that Hozier has with all of his songs. It moves Remus every time. The lyrics would mean so much to him.
・His taste in music is songs that make him feel connected to the artist or what the message of the song is
・Always has the radio on at home, while being a professor at Hogwarts etc

thoughts on sweden ( & denmark) being overprotective big brothers of norway? we always hear how they are overprotective of Iceland as a group, but the fandom always forgets little brother norway in the scandinavian trio ( ՞ ܸ. .ܸ՞ )
Allow me:
For a very long time, Norway was the baby of the family. Sweden and Denmark also had no prior knowledge on raising children, so they had no idea how children functioned. They essentially believed that if Norway so much as brushed up against a hard surface, he'd shatter into a million pieces. As such, they were extremely protective of him and had a mini panic attack whenever anything happened.
As Norway got older they of course understood that it wasn't the case and that children could actually be a little durable. It was at this point that Norway, now sentient, became tired of the overly protective behaviour. He was growing a bit sick of not being able to move more than five centimeters on his own, so what did he do to prove he wasn't THAT fragile? Managed to get a hand on one of Sweden's knives and stabbed himself in the foot.
Well... It worked.
Denmark and Sweden let up a bit, but they couldn't help but get extremely nervous anytime anything happened to him. They tried to keep their concerns to themselves to stop Norway from feeling like he had to do something drastic to prove he was more than capable of taking care of himself.
As a teenager, he hated being babied by them. He wanted to feel like he was the same as both of them. He wanted to feel like an equal member of the team. He thought that with Iceland, he would get a bit more recognition as a functional adult. However, Denmark's attention doesn't divide, it multiplies and Sweden's attention never shifted from Norway, so he still had to deal with his overprotective siblings.
When Sweden took Norway, it's not like anything changed. Denmark was still very worried about him. Sweden was even more overprotective than before.
Nowadays, they don't worry about him as much. They know he's independent and can take care of himself. He couldn't be happier with this.
I do know that a lot of my attention goes to Iceland, but that is because it's a lot more complicated than with Norway.
While Norway was over protected, Iceland was under protected. He depended on the others and was severely let down.
It's part of the reason he asked America to protect him when the time came, because he didn't trust the others. It's also why he acts so mature for his age, it's a way of defending himself from ever needing them.
Nowadays of course, the Nordics, especially Sweden and Denmark are extremely over protective of him. They worry about him like they did Norway when he was a baby.

It was a chilly afternoon in Trondheim, Norway, on the 15th of October, 1994. The first snow of the season had fallen and three young children - 5-year-old Silje Redergard and two 6-year-old unnamed boys - were playing on a football field.
The trio played in the snow, building snow castles. Moments later, Silje was dead in the snow. Something seemingly happened that triggered a reaction in the two boys and they turned on Silje. She was kicked, punched, and hit with stones before being stripped and left her in the snow, where she froze to death. Her body was found by an 8-year-old boy who recognised her. He ran to Silje’s home and told her parents.
After the murder, her mother, Beathe Redergard, went to the home of a woman who had tried to resuscitate Silje to thank her. Redergard sat with the woman’s young son on her lap as she explained that she had tried her hardest to save Silje. Moments later, the woman told Redergard that it was her son, the young boy on her knee, that killed Silje. “When we found out he had done it, we left. It was too difficult. I wanted to throttle him and be done with it. When I realised that I almost wanted to kill him, we left,” she said.
After calling the police, Silje’s parents hoped that they would receive some justice for her. They would be sadly mistaken. Why the two boys inflicted such violence on their neighbourhood friend still remains unknown. “We beat her till she stopped crying,” one of the boys later confessed. Rumours that the boys had been copying Power Rangers swirled around the town. As a result, the Scandinavian network TV-3 dropped the show from their broadcasts in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
The case was widely compared with the murder of James Bulger just the previous year in Merseyside. But while in Britain the two 10-year-old killers were tried as adults and sentenced to a secure facility, the killers of Silje were released into the custody of their parents and quietly forgotten about.

hey hi I would like to hear more about this 1945 au where Bianca joins Gaea and Kronos to avenge her mother's death (murder)
omg hi.
okay WATCH OUT. because I’ve thought wayyy too much about this au. short version: it combines the major pjo and hoo villains and stars Hazel and Bianca as protagonists. it’s abt grief, sanity, abandonment, and inevitability. all the characters are stuck in a world where they are incredibly powerless and they’re angry because they’re trying desperately to create some kind of agency for themselves.
long version: so basically it was inspired by a reread of son of Neptune, where I realized from Hazel’s memories just how watered down her character was in fanon. Hazel is certainly heroic, she’s brave, and occasionally kind, but she’s not the sweet innocent character a lot of people write her to be. She’s someone who’s deeply angry because of how much she was wronged - someone who was abandoned by essentially both of her parents and of course the justice of the underworld. So I initially thought about it as Hazel joining Gaea in Alaska. And I think it still works, but ultimately I do believe that Hazel would betray Gaea (as I said, she’s got a pretty solid moral compass). And then I realized she had someone that could be a perfect foil for her, and who had reasons to go against the Olympians.
That’s where Bianca comes in. Hazel, at this point allied with Gaea, gets both Bianca and Nico out of the Lotus Casino. The timeline is a little hazy (mainly working off of vibes and singular scenes 😔) but essentially Hazel flees from Gaea with both of her siblings. They try and cross the ocean to get to Europe in hopes of talking to the oracle of Delphi, because as kids from the 1940s they know nothing about the Greek/Roman gods, have no internet, and haven’t been found by CHB/CJ since they are busy with the war.
The trio gets separated with Nico and Hazel still on their way to Europe. In New York, Bianca remembers what happened to her mother. She goes to Kronos and tells him she is willing to help him in exchange for destroying the Olympians.
In Europe, Hazel and Nico essentially find other demigods on their way to Delphi. This team essentially consists of 1945 au’s the seven. There’s a German son of Zeus, Adar Anstand, a French daughter of Poseidon, Morgane Le Gall, an Italian son of Dionysus, Marco Veggere, and then people who I couldn’t find a name for (but I still love my children): a Scandinavian son of Apollo, and an Indian daughter of Demeter. They all have their own thing but I’ll keep it to one fun fact, which is that Marco doesn’t believe in the Greek gods at all. Incredibly, every time something magical happens, Marco isn’t in the picture so the belief gets stronger over time 😭
(more spoilers)
Hazel and Nico go back to New York to try and attempt to unite the Greek and Roman gods, which does work and help the seven minus those two defeat Gaea although they do all die. Sorry. Hazel and Nico also talk to Bianca on Olympus. Bianca ultimately makes the same choice Luke does (it’s very much a family Bianca you promised moment). sad. Sorry Bianca didn’t feature as much because in terms of the general timeline she’s just off w Kronos but she’s very important to the story, she’s the first character whose arc I really defined. You can go check my #1945 au if you’re curious for more of the vibes, bc I’ve tagged a bunch of web weavings that I feel match them. I’ve also got some about Adar and Marco I think?

Upcoming Tiaras for 2023
Of course the biggest tiara event of the year will be the British coronation but there are also a trio of Scandinavian celebrations and a bunch of weddings to look forward to.
King Charles III of the United Kingdom's Coronation
King Charles III's coronation will take place on May 6th. There won't be as many tiara events as the last one in 1953 but the coronation itself should still give us plenty of tiaras. There will be the extended British Royal Family of course but there will also be many foreign royals attending. Usually (with a few exceptions like Queen Sālote Tupou III of Tonga) other monarchs do not attend so expect to see the heir or their spouse wearing the biggest and most historical tiara they have access to. I have a lot of posts planned for the lead up to the big day but I'm going to wait until we're a bit closer to start actually posting them.
Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan & Rajwa Al Saif's Wedding
Crown Prince Hussein and the future Crown Princess Rajwa will be married on June 1st. I expect a decent royal turn out more in line with Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor Asem's wedding in 2004 than any of the other more low key weddings in the family. I'm hoping she will wear the Arabic Scroll Tiara but the bride's family is apparently very wealthy so I wouldn't be surprised if they gifted her a new tiara.
Crown Prince Haakon & Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway's 50th Birthdays
Milestone birthdays in the Norway usually mean a gala event with foreign royals and tiaras but Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit sometimes do things a little differently. In July and August of 2013, their 40th birthdays were celebrated with a music festival at Skaugum where Haakon parachuted in, played with one of the bands, and they all slept in tents so who knows what we're going to see this time around. If they do have a gala event I think this would be the perfect opportunity for Crown Princess Mette Marit to debut Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara.
King Carl Gustav of Sweden's Golden Jubilee
King Carl Gustav is celebrating 50 years since he ascended the throne and there will be a lot of different events celebrating the jubilee throughout the year but the one we're expecting tiaras for is the gala dinner at Stockholm Palace on September 15th with foreign royals in attendance.
Prince Christian of Denmark's 18th Birthday
They haven't announced a date yet for the gala dinner celebrating Prince Christian's coming of age yet but his birthday is on October 15th so it should be around then. I'm especially excited for this event after seeing so many of the younger generation of royals turn out for Princess Ingrid Alexandra's birthday last year. The Danes go big for milestone birthdays so expect a lot of tiaras.
Some other possible tiaras
Wedding of Princess Azemah of Brunei & Prince Bahar Bolkiah
Wedding of Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg & Nicolas Bagory
Wedding of Princess Iman of Jordan & Jameel Thermiotis
Wedding of Princess Theodora of Greece & Matthew Kumar
Wedding of Infanta Maria Francisca of Portugal & Duarte de Sousa Araújo Martins
18th birthday of Infanta Leonor of Spain, Princess of Asturias
Tin (10th) Jubilee of King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands
Tin (10th) Jubilee of King Philippe of Belgium
Which tiaras are you most excited about in 2023?
