Patrick is a popular and successful professional hockey player. David, who has parlayed his presence on Alexis’s reality show into a successful acting career, has landed a coveted role in a movie. The role is a hockey player and David knows nothing about the sport. Patrick agrees to let David shadow him and learn from him.

Patrick doesn't have an eye for art; he doesn't pay much attention to painting or sculptures. But he likes photography. Well, he likes a photographer in particular, anyway. The mysterious artist known only as D.R. — a black-and-white film photographer from New York — may have disappeared from the world years ago... but Patrick still treasures the one print he'd purchased during a business trip in the city. After all, it may have given him the courage to break his own heart, move to a city he'd never heard of, and meet the love of his life.

He hasn't thought about in years. That is, until he's picking up lunch at the café and something familiar catches his eye. The tone, the light — he'd know an original D.R. photo anywhere.

"Oh, this?" Twyla grinned, pointing to the frame on the restaurant wall. "David gave me that."

This Passions & Pastimes fic used my prompt!

Patrick doesn't really have an eye for art; he doesn't pay much attention to painting or sculptures. But he likes photography. Particularly, a black-and-white film photographer from New York. He doesn't remember how or where he'd come across the prints, but Patrick had been captivated by the first one he laid eyes on. Can you see the artist through their art? Can you fall in love with the photographer by only knowing their photos? However, two or so years ago, the mysterious artist known only as D.R. [subject to change at author's discretion] disappeared from the world. The Instagram page left without update, the subreddit full of speculation and rumors. Patrick can't say he isn't more than disappointed. Until one day, when he's walking through his new town and something catches his eye. The tone, the light-- he'd know an original DR photo anywhere. "Oh, this?" Twyla grinned, pointing to the frame on the restaurant wall. "David gave me that."

certain songs (aka, indie band patrick): David, owner of the recently re-opened Perennial gallery in New York gets dragged by Stevie to a show where the indie band the Creek Waders are performing. He crosses paths with the frontman and guitarist, Patrick, and finds himself intrigued. Mutual pining, David being an idiot, discussions about queer art, Stevie ex machina, etc etc.

gather up the avenues: David and Patrick dated while in New York but broke up, now neither of them can stand to be in the city because of all the memories. Patrick drives back home to Canada, but ends up stopping in a small town with a ridiculous sign, while David flees to the place with the stupid name his dad bought him for his birthday when he was a kid. I think you can see where this is going.

come on, get higher, loosen my lips: five times alex and henry talk on the phone and one time they wake up together (workshopping this description lol). Actually hoping to finish and publish this in 2023 but we'll see how it goes.

I have a lot of other projects I'd like to finish but I'm not going to list them all here. We'll see how this year goes. I also love an event (clearly) so plan to participate in some of those as they come up (hopefully for both SC and RWRB).

My entry for the @sc-passions-and-pastimes fest! I have received so many lovely comments on this one. I may have chosen this prompt out of bitterness for getting third place in the regional spelling bee in sixth grade.

A one- or two-night stand was just what David could use right now.

Currently Reading:  I finished “maybe if by magic” by earlylight this morning, and then I read the latest houdini (Wanted: Birthday Clown)—yay, so good! This afternoon or evening, I’ll start “Practical Magic Below the Waist: How to Spark Joy, or, Five Easy Steps to Master Interspecies Relations,” which, fun fact, is the longest 5+1 in the SC tag.

Last Song:  “Flying Over Water” by Jason Isbell.

Last Series:  I’m just flailing about looking for something now that Ted Lasso and Shrinking have ended. I don’t need anything as good or thinky as either of those, but I need something to at least half-watch in an empty house. I tried Daisy Jones & the Six and Mad About You, but neither stuck.

Last Movie:  I think it was She Said, which I had on in the background a few weeks ago while I played on the computer. Planning on Barbie sometime this week, though.

Currently working on:  My attitude. Ugh. I have a brilliant idea for Passions and Pastimes, but I don’t know if I trust myself to commit to and finish anything.
