Strain: Super Sour Diesel --- A cross between Super Silver Haze and Sour Diesel. According to a favorable and loyal cannabis consumer site (leafly.com), Super Sour Diesel tends to feel very uplifting and euphoric while also feeling focused and energized. As someone who suffers with anxiety and panic disorder I tend to avoid most sativa cannabis strains because I sometimes cannot handle the intense focus aspect of sativa strains. I dislike the intense focus of the strain Sour Diesel, but I could not remember for the life of me if I could tolerate Super Sour Diesel. (The SUPER sounds intimidating... but it doesn’t mean it’s a double dose of Sour Diesel...) When it came to choosing this strain -- TRUST ME, it was not my first option but it was my only option at that current moment. Before I continue to explain how it effected me, I want to individually learn more and share about the parents of Super Sour Diesel: Super Silver Haze strain and the Sour Diesel strain. Some notes about Super Silver Haze: - What strains cross to create Super Silver Haze? Northern Lights (indica) + Haze (sativa) + Skunk No. 1 (hybrid) - What I like about the cross of strains to create Super Silver Haze is that there is an indica, sativa and hybrid to create a really nice balance between the body and mind. - This strain generally creates a balance of serenity and calmness while also feeling extremely uplifted and stimulated easily by our senses and mind. Let’s talk about Sour Diesel: - What makes Sour Diesel is a sativa dominant hybrid Chemdawg 91 (hybrid) crossed with Super Skunk (indica). - Sour Diesel is usually bred very potent with an average of 19-25% THC - Best known to manage stress and depression - Uplifts and energizes mood with a clear mind (from my experience and peers) So, when I finally got around to trying out Super Sour Diesel... It only took one hit and I was a lot more alert and perky than I had been the previous hours before. That day I had worked and gotten off around 5pm -- I had been sober almost the entire day; Which, if you know me know me, you would know that’s a long time for me. That could have played a factor as to why it only took me one hit to feel anything (versus a typical 2). Quick side note: a hit for me is a ‘snap’ out of a bong. Side note of the quick side note: Can someone tell me, are snaps still a thing? Anyways, it genuinely took one snap for me to feel anything and I was happy about it but also became cautious. After the first snap, I set the bong aside and put the rest of my things from work away and got dressed in my ‘home-wear’ aka pajama bottoms and a clean shirt. When I came back into the smoking room I had felt content and more alert and perky but not necessarily stoned; I decided to take another snap. Ultimately, this strain made me feel very much awake and ready to tackle tasks even though I had just gotten off of work. Every time I smoke Sour Diesel I want to exert physical energy and make my body move. It definitely has euphoric properties; I can be cleaning the house then I catch myself so deep into a thought I’m either laying or sitting contemplating. My concern with the strain Super Sour Diesel was the strong sense of focus and emphasis on my thoughts -- Although I was worried about being too much in my head, this strain is just stimulating enough to keep me active and awake versus drowsy and completely air headed (which is what I usually prefer when medicating with cannabis!) without over-processing thoughts which can cause me to freak out or over-think. I most definitely think the balancing properties of Super Silver Haze crossed with Sour Diesel really make Super Sour Diesel a grounding strain to medicate with on days I would like to be more active / on my feet. Results: would I try again? rate out of 10? when would I use?: 1) Yes, I can see myself definitely medicating with Super Sour Diesel again. 2) How did it work for me? 7.5 out of 10. I did not feel completely like “myself” (I am usually more laid back than this strain made me feel) BUT I would rate it a 7.5 basically almost an 8 because of how comfortable I was for a sativa strain. This made me bust my ass when it came to cleaning and errands, etc+. For example, I wanted to adjust the couch so I could lay on it more comfortably and by the end of the day I had switched the TV room into a bigger cat room, moved the computer / huge, heavy office space into the bedroom while doing laundry and deep cleaning in between. All because I wanted to adjust one part of the couch... The energy was great! I loved it. Also want to mention the “come down” also known as sobering up. Unlike a heavy indica or another more frantic sativa, Super Sour Diesel has a very easy transition to sober -- In other words, there are hardly any symptoms when sobering up on this strain; No grogginess or foggy thoughts or intense want to pass out and sleep. Third side note: I reaaaally dislike the term sobering up. Not sure if that’s even a proper way to describe the wearing off of a medication, but it’s the term I used for this post until I find a way to word it otherwise. 3) I would use this strain again if I am ever going to a social event i.e. a concert, a party or anywhere I would have to be standing up for. This strain would of course be good for any spring cleaning you would want to do or even gardening and those working-on-the-house-tasks. I would also consider this strain if I were to ever be in severe depression again -- I cannot say for certain that it would benefit me, but based on how it makes me feel and information that leafly.com has provided I would not doubt that it would be a good strain for a mental illness such as depression. xo, lv
