turns out that the famous Lonesome Larry, the only male salmon to make it to Redfish Lake in Idaho (so named because there used to be so many salmon the lake looked red) in 1992, had his nickname coined by the daughter of a guy I used to work with. and incidentally, when new neighbors moved in down the block in Virginia, they knew that exact lake and asked me unprompted about that exact coworker.
