This is so good, and it doesn't even include what I consider the biggest thing Mithrun does: Actually listen to Kabru, answer Kabru's #1 most important, life-defining question "why do dungeons collapse?" and then he trusts Kabru.

Getting this question answered is something Kabru has been desperately asking about, studying, traveling, trying to find answers to HIS ENTIRE LIFE. It's basically his #1 goal!!! HE NEEDS TO KNOW THIS. Without this knowledge, he might be able to stop the island's dungeon from collapsing, but he knows he can't stop future dungeon collapses!

His larger life's mission hinges on being able to get this information!

Kabru has studied the subject so thoroughly, his theory "you need to starve the dungeon by removing as many people as possible and only sending in a small team", which he presents to the Canaries at their first meeting, is so revolutionary and clever that the other Canaries all think he's crazy, but Mithrun, a dungeon expert, says "Wait, tell me more about your idea. You're on to something."

How important is finding out why dungeons collapse to Kabru?

When he realizes he might be denied the chance to learn this, despite otherwise being a completely controlled, pragmatic individual, Kabru snaps, completely loses his cool, and takes Mithrun hostage. He starts screaming at the other Canaries to answer his question!

He becomes irrational and panicked at the idea that if he doesn't learn why dungeons collapse now, he may never get another chance to find out!!!!

But this information is secret! SUPER secret. MILSIRIL DID NOT TELL HIM. He tried to join the Canaries and they wouldn't let him in.

I'm pretty sure if the elven government finds out that Mithrun is the source of the information leak in Merini (he's the one that told a tall-man and now everyone seems to know, it doesn't matter that all the information didn't come from Kabru but from Laios' party) he could be in big trouble.

It's a forbidden government secret!!! He told it to a tall-man who is probably a known troublemaker for the elven government! I'm sure Kabru spent plenty of time going to government offices and libraries, asking questions, and being told "I can't tell you that," or "you can't read that book," or even "that book doesn't exist."

Mithrun essentially commits treason by telling Kabru the secret behind how dungeons works, like a scientist telling someone from an enemy country how to make an atomic bomb. You get executed for that shit if they catch you!!!

Yes, part of this is because Mithrun "doesn't care"... But we know that he can and DOES say no to things that he knows will cause him problems! Being court-martialed by the Canaries or executed would for sure be a problem.

Mithrun chooses to answer Kabru's question because not telling him would make their time in the dungeon more difficult. Kabru would be fighting him the whole way, not trusting him, not understanding Mithrun's goals.

Mithrun looked at everything he'd learned and seen about Kabru up until they fell into the dungeon, and made a judgement:

If this guy knows what I know, he would be on my side. He would not get in my way, and he would try to help me get to the demon. He also isn't going to recklessly spread the forbidden knowledge about the demon, because he'll understand that people knowing about the demon won't stop them from wanting to get their wishes granted by the dungeon. He will understand that the only way to protect the world from the dungeons is to keep people out of them as much as possible.

So he told Kabru the truth about himself, and everything he knows about dungeons.
