4t2 EP12 Braided Ponytail = Simancholy Braided Ponytail

I can't believe this took me almost a month to do! This is my 800 Followers Gift, so i decided to make a third edition of hair requests by @squiddurr for funsies and it somehow turned out the biggest one so far!

This may be my biggest hair dump I've done so far actually :D This Hair Dump Consists of 45 hairs and with some of them being male + female they're in total 54 as seen in the previews above! :) All the hair names are shown in the previews. I'd like to thank Squidder for being patient with me delaying the hair dump for months :)

I used Poppet’s v2 natural and unnatural colours as well as BerryNooboos’ cosmic, Wyxii’s mint, Furbyq’s afterglow and PMG’s amphitrite. As for texture I blended in Nouk’s Afro texture but only a little bit as I liked this hair texture to begin with

Hey! Happy New Year! I love your content btw and I was wondering did you draw the braid base at the scalp in your Basil braids? Not the braids themselves but like the way the parts are so nice and neat. Or if you didn't draw them where did you find them? Thanks for your help!

happy new year to you too anon! i'll put my explanation under the cut but in short i didn't *draw* the scalp myself but like frankensteined the texture together using blender!

the technique i used was inspired by some of the alpha braids that i've seen (think ebonixsims). if you look at their meshes, the parts aren't textured onto the sim but like meshed parts of the alpha hair. so i created a scalp mesh using the texture from the bg twist hair we got in an SDX to get this

(this took a lot of trial and error, i heavily referenced those brick-laying patterns braiders put out to come up with a reasonable layout. i used the shrinkwrap modifier to get my own mesh *on* the scalp)

i then texture baked by meshed scalp onto the ea head to get my texture. next, i blended my baked texture with the parts from that one growing together updo to get a more interesting look? idk mostly to get the hairline to look cute

tbh i was motivated to make my own braid base to free myself from the inconsistent parts in the br*ndysims/savvysweet/qicc/enriques4 braid base 😭😭 but yeah that's how i made the parts and definitely feel free to reach out w/ any questions or use the parts from my basil braids in your own hairs!

To clarify there are 2 versions of the PuppyCrow Palette 1.0 (old version & 2.0 (new version) available as Simandy released the updated version of the palette gradients when I was recolouring using the old version of the palette so I figured I would throw in both versions since the gradients from both palettes are gorgeous and I'm sure people won't mind more colour options anyways.

In the future I will mainly be using the new version of the PuppyCrow Palette for my PuppyCrow recolours to stay consistent but I will be releasing 2.0 versions to hair recolours I have released & are still WIPs.

I will also be recolouring Savvysweet/Sheabuttyr's side of the collab in the future so look out for those too.
