A day late but in addition to Hiphop’s 47th birthday yesterday, the firt #Radiotron also occured on the same day 37 years ago! We have also had the pleasure of organizing an event through Carmelo Alvarez in the past. Salute! 💫 • #Repost @savethehiphopculture ・・・ 37 years ago today, Southern California would contribute to the Hip Hop Culture by opening up the doors to a historic spot named Radiotron. Radiotron was originally a night club in 1980 but was turned into a community center in 1983 which focused on bringing the youth together through Hip Hop Culture. Radiotron was home to some of Hip Hop's pioneer pop lockers, emcees, graffiti writers, and bboys such as Ice T, Air Force Crew, LA Breakers, Shake City Rockers, Fabulous Lockers , and several others. So much history in NY for Hip Hop and hardly any mentions of any West Coast pioneering grounds. Well, Radiotron. . Next up on our Hip Hop Photographer salutation we have the one and only @joeconzo who is credited in taking Hip Hop's baby pictures. Active since the 70's, Joe Conzo documented Hip Hop as it was unfolding to the world. From DJ's to Bboys, Conzo, was there. He has also released edited books of his photography, (I.e) "Born in the Bronx".
