It makes me sadder to realize that we are losing oases like this in Kathmandu. Guideji has always believed that Nepal (and Southasia and probably the whole world) has pockets of heaven. They are naturally rich with resources that would be enough for thousands of generations of the entire population. And hence, would carry the spirit of Mother Earth in each part. A few months back, guideji came back from a trek to one of those pockets sad and disappointed. The natural wonders have been exploited, the spirits now slowly disappearing. On the other hand, he realized what I've been trying to show him since we've met: Kathmandu is one of those pockets. The valley with its nutrients rich soil, with jungles surrounding it, used to be a part of heaven. With numerous oases like this slowly being encroached by concrete buildings and modernization, we are losing what Kathmandu was. And if you've followed me for a long time in this platform, or known me in real life, then you know I've given up, to save the area I've called home for all my life. And I've made a truce with the fact that one day Kathmandu I've known would be gone and in its place would a city so dead that even the microorganisms and parasites would skip it when they travel. I will instead enjoy, appreciate and admire these parts till they remain and hope that one day, my children and their chilidren, if I am to have them, would be lucky enough to be able to call another pocket of heaven, their home.
