I've got stuck writing my OBX fic as all the toxicity from the fandom has just put me off. So I've been taking a break and I've unfollowed most OBX people (not that they're spreading the toxicity but rather they're fighting it, so I'm still seeing it).

Instead, I've immersed myself in the Shoot From the Hip fandom, which is completely wholesome and has really cleansed my soul.

Hopefully I'll be back writing soon, because I do love my fic.

Is Just me or i noticed that Cleo from obx Is very similar to Bonnie from tvd both used to save everyone asses lmao

no it’s not just you that’s exactly how Cleo is treated. Perhaps, not too the full extent of Bonnie because that’s a lot to unpack but Cleo saves everyone’s ass and is supportive of the entire group yet the least fleshed out character there is. Besides knowing that she traveled on the islands and her history with Terrence that’s just about as much impersonal information we get with Cleo. Some not all of the fandoms demand for Cleo to die instead of JJ speaks volumes when Rudy asked to be killed off. Adding in how people are not responding to Laci’s IG caption… “I love Laci but..” as if she’s responsible for any writing choices and deserves to be hounded with hate. Season 5 is the last season so I doubt we’ll get a solo things for Cleo like John B/Pope & now JJ.

Happy New Years!! This year was... rough and chaotic, especially in real life for me and it definitely reflects in the numbers. I think with chapters it's mostly due to the fact Midnight Beach's last few chapters were posted at the end of the year and I began UTM, WFMF, and OFL in 2023 while they were/are ongoing shows.

Mentally, emotionally, and physically, this year was a lot. I had many ups and downs, I suffered from kidney stones for nearly a whole week for the first time, I moved twice (once in 2023 and twice this year), I started uni and dropped out, I OFFICALLY officially became an adult at 20. It was a grueling year lmao but of course, I was happy to continue chatting with you guys and seeing what you guys thought about things.

Presumably, 2025 isn't going to be easy as I'll be going into the year STILL in the process of the second move and job hunting. My activity and motivation will continue fluctuating but thus is the burden of growing. Thank you to those who've stuck around for a while and a big welcome to new faces joining this ride for the new year! <3

princess save me. i'm writing after not having written/published any form of fic in like 2-3 years now. i used to write on wattpad, and my work on there got really popular for the fandom it was in but now i'm scared that it won't compare since i'm writing for obx and there's like some actually good writers in this fandom. oh gawsh i'm nervous.

it legitimately ruins the whole show for me :( totally obliterates my rewatching experience. how am I supposed to watch such good, wholesome, fun episodes like midsummers again, knowing where it all ends up??

i had accidentally spoiled the big thing for myself before i started part 2, so i was seeing everything thru that perspective and it made me miserable :( but i very much supported him going nuts throughout the season. the whole sequence in ep 6 where he just straight up loses it is maybe one of the best and most satisfying of the show for me (acting, writing, cinematography, music choice - i was giggling and kicking my feet like a little girl). my guy could've burned the whole world down and I just would been like :/ you go girl.

but like. yeah. where's the payoff to all the pain and suffering. where's the resolution. where's the closure. how do you drag an already very tragic character thru the mud like that and then just.

I get it, i do. And before I say anything, I just think it's important that everyone will cope with t hisi differently and however you need to cope is valid. There's not a right or wrong response when something breaks your heart like this.

So I'm just talking about me here. I was shocked at first, like in disbelief when I found out.  I'm a spoiler type (I have to know, especially with character death). And then like it hit me and it hit me hard. I was working and just sobbing (thank goodness for work from home) before I even watched. It was like this overwhelming grief that I couldn't fathom and didn't know what to do with.

And I got mad and I ran it in circles in my head before I just came to the conclusion that no. They don't get to take it from me. I can't even explain how much I think about this show and JJ.  I can't explain how much of my free time and free energy is plotting JJ fics and thinking about his character.  It's not an exaggeration to say OBX IS my hobby right now. My real life is a chaotic and stressful mess and I have so little free time -- and I turned to OBX for escapism.

And I can't give it up.  I won't.  But how do I keep going when it broke my heart?

Well, screw the show.  At this point, I don't need it.  They don't want JJ anymore?  Okay, I'll take him.  He's mine now -- he's OURS.  The writers let the narrative doom him.  So that's fine.  My narrative will save him.  It's not easy for me to say that because I am, at my core, a canon girl.  but needs must, okay?

Sincerely, I've been doing fandoms for a long long time and I've been in all types. Some of the best ones were ones where fans ignored canon and did it better. I will just seek out people who want to go there with me and do it.

I do have to be more selective, of course.  I have to read less fic and engage with fewer parts of fandom.  I think I'll get better at is as time goes on and it's less fresh.  But I will make my place and be happy.  Because I need it.

I'm going to write my own version of saving JJ and what S5 would look like in my perfect world. And I hope it helps other people cope like it helps me cope. But like I said, we all got to do what we have to do. I know a lot of people walking away and it makes me sad but I think it's totally valid.  I just can't.  So here I am, doing what I can.  My hope is that the more I invest into my head canons, the less I'll need the actual show. I am unlikely to do a full rewatch ever again but clips and moments? I'm hoping I can get there sooner as opposed to later.  JJ's my boy and always will be.  He's alive in my head because he has to be.

I wish you the best, though. It sucks.  It really, really sucks, and there's just no way around that. The writers missed the boat on understanding JJ's character and his arc and it's such a shame. All the potential is RIGHT THERE, and they took a cheap out instead of a satisfying one.

It was such a task to pick fave quotes because the whole damn song just IS them. It fits so well with these characters, the song could’ve been written for the show. One of the things I’m curious to see in S4 OBX is Kiara’s relationship with her folks and how it’s evolved over the time jump. And this song just gets me more excited about it. Funnily enough this is one of my least faves on TTPD, but for Jiara vibes alone…

10/10 Listen to this song when the teen angst hits hard and say a little prayer with me that someone in the fandom writes a BDILH one shot with interwoven lyrics soon.

Author’s note: Hey!! I’m new into the OBX fandom. I fell in love with JJ and I wrote this quick thing :) Also, this happens in between them finding out John B is alive and them reuniting in Charleston. 

Summary: Based on ICU by Phoebe Bridgers

The grass was cold against her warm sun-kissed skin. Y/N was lying on the front lawn of her house as JJ tried to pick the lock of the front door of her shitty house. What started out as an innocent get together at the Chateau had quickly turned into drinking, smoking, and a late night swim. It was around 2am when everyone left and JJ offered to walk her home, he had decided it wouldn’t be safe for her to walk alone even though it was just a couple of blocks and she had done it a million times before.

“JJ, leave it. I’m tired and I wanna sleep. I’ll just sleep outside,” Y/N groaned. “...or climb the window.”

They had been stuck outside of her house for about an hour trying to open a door. Her Mom was working a night shift and she couldn’t find her keys anywhere, after retracing her steps she deemed it a lost cause but JJ insisted he could pick the lock and asked for her hairpin. At first she stood beside him, even tried to do it herself, but after the first 30 minutes she decided there was no point in trying the impossible. However, JJ wouldn’t budge. He was convinced she had used a hidden key a few years ago to get them inside.

“You are not climbing anything, okay? You’re still drunk.” JJ placed his hands on his hips, his eyebrows furrowed and his hair slightly messy.

“I’ll just wait here until I feel fine enough to climb,” She insisted.  

He sighed, before walking away from the front door towards her, “Okay, fine.”

She was about to say goodbye when JJ laid down next to her.

“I’ll wait with you.”

“JJ,” She said firmly, “Go home. You need to rest, you have work in like 4 hours.”

Their shoulders were just barely touching as they laid side by side, face turned so they could see each other.

“What if a bear attacks you?” he said.

“A bear? In the Outer banks?” He nodded. She rolled her eyes and laughed, “If a bear was to attack me right now I don’t think you’d be able to stop it. Leave and save yourself.”

“I totally would. You’re acting like I haven’t saved you before.”

“Please tell me when you’ve saved me.”

JJ shifted his body to be fully facing her. “That one time you fell off the swing and I carried you home.”

“That was like ten years ago-”

“When you almost drowned that one time last summer. When you fell from your bike. Yesterday, you made me go to your house to kill a spider. Uhhhh - Rafe! That’s a big one. Fought him for your honor. ”

“You got knocked out.”

“Yeah, after saving you!” He touched his chin with his pointer finger, “Let’s see what else.”

“Stop!” She was laughing, he wouldn’t stop naming the most random things he had done throughout the many years they had been friends.

“When you didn’t write that essay for Terry’s class, I called you in sick. Took the blame for the weed your mom found in your room, saved you from that too. When your tire popped in the middle of nowhere and John B and I drove all the way and fixed it. That one time you got so drunk I snuck you into-”

“Okay! Okay! I get it! You’re my knight and shining armor and I can’t be without you. Please stay.”

His eyes softened, “Always.”

He laid back down and a comfortable silence fell over them. They both looked up to the sky. It was a clear night, and they could see the bright stars shining above them. The only thing that could be heard was their breathing and grasshoppers chirping, but neither felt the need to say anything. They didn’t have to.

She was close with the other Pogues, of course, but it was different between her and JJ. They had always been comfortable around each other, no need to pretend. In many ways he knew her better than anyone else, even herself. To her, JJ was it. She had been in love with him since she was old enough to think and for a long time she thought maybe it could be mutual. That somehow JJ Maybank could love her back.

The last couple of months had been crazy, between finding the ship, gold, and John B being declared dead. But even with all the craziness, Y/N had never felt more alive, for the first time she was doing things for herself and not thinking about work and her mom. Somehow this summer had brought them closer together and things began to change between them. Stolen glances, lingering touches, excuses to be together for longer...everything was great but she couldn’t help but want more. 

“I feel like I didn’t start living until a few months ago,” Y/N broke the silence. JJ looked at her slightly confused.

“What do you mean?”

“Like I’ve been dead for years, you know? Not literally, but I was always pretending to be someone I’m not. But not anymore.” Not with you. “Like my life began the moment that we found that boat. I mean, sure the whole thinking-John-B-was-dead thing was horrible but it led to kinda great things and for the first time in so long I feel happy. But I’m so scared that things will suck again.”

She paused but JJ didn’t say anything, he just stared at her. Suddenly she felt stupid for opening her mouth.

“I’m sorry that makes no sense. I’m just thinking out loud. It’s probably the alcohol.”

“No, no. That makes all the sense in the world,” JJ sat up, “It’s like everything is so great now and I feel like it won’t last or that I’ll ruin it the way I always ruin things.”

“You don’t ruin things. Don’t say that,” She sat up and looked at him with so much care. How could he ever think that?

“Yeah, well, that’s not what my Dad thinks,” he said, “He always goes on about how I ruined his life and how I don’t have a future or that I’ll end up in jail.”

“I hate your Dad,” she said and she meant it. She hated the way he talked to him, she hated having to ice the bruises he’d give him. “Don’t listen to him. He has no idea what he is talking about.”

He avoided her eyes and started picking the grass. “I don’t know about that.”

“Hey,” She gently cupped his face so that he was facing her, “I mean it. You’re amazing, JJ.”

“How do you know?” He asked. 

“I see you,” Y/N said without a second of thought, “The way you truly are and it’s great.”

They stayed like that for a few moments, just looking at each other. Their eyes saying everything they didn’t have the courage to say. They had never been this close before, faces just inches away. She could see every detail of his face. How beautiful he was, the way his hair fell perfectly, a small scar on his forehead, his lips.

JJ looked down for a second before looking at her again, “That feeling that everything might go wrong… it disappears when I’m with you. I get the opposite actually, like everything might be okay.”

“Me too.” She spoke barely above a whisper.

Slowly, like gravity on a feather, they started leaning towards each other. Hesitation on both sides, knowing that kissing could change everything. That finally they could be transparent about their feelings, about how mad they are for each other, about how the real fear is about losing each other. Their noses touched, she could feel him breathing, his shaking hand came up to cup her neck. Y/N was leaning into his lips when suddenly he jerked away, his hand dropping.

Y/N was stunned. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t think. All she felt was her heart breaking as tears of humiliation and sadness filled her eyes.

“I’m sorry,” JJ said as he ran his hand through his hair, “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” She said quietly, hoping her voice wouldn’t crack.

“No, it’s not. I always do this, I always ruin things. I’m sorry,” His voice rose a little bit, he was frustrated. He took a deep breath and said,  “You’re my friend. I don’t wanna lose you.”

“You won't,” Y/N said after a few moments of silence. She had decided that the only thing worse than JJ not loving her back would be to lose him completely. Having him as a friend would be better than not having him at all. “You’re my knight and shining armor, remember?”

“You don’t need me to protect you.”

“Maybe,” she felt her chest tighten, “But I like it when you do.”

“Yeah?” His voice was soft and vulnerable.

“Yeah. You just have to learn how to punch better and forget the gun.”

JJ laughed, “I’ll work on it just for you.”

“Good.” She smiled at him.

Silence fell over them, only this time it was different. The things left unsaid and undone lingered in the air. Regret and curiosity plagued their mind. They became aware of their surroundings. Sitting further from each other than they usually would, heavy eyelids due to the lack of sleep, the warm summer breeze that wrapped around them and the lack of darkness as the horizon turned into shades of oranges and pinks.

“I should probably go to bed,” she said, looking at the sky.

“Can we just stay here for a little bit?” JJ’s voice was small, like he was afraid of asking.

He let out a breath of relief when she nodded. They laid on the ground again, shoulders barely brushing, hands millimeters away; so close yet so far away.

The first point I think I should make is most the characters in obx don’t have a particularly distinct characterisation, that’s why ig there’s so many different interpretations– especially side characters like Barry and topper. And even s1 rafe, who didn’t have a lot of screentime. But that’s where headcanons and fanfic come in. To completely hold Sofia in contempt based on purely canon is unfair, and a lot of her character is implied– they’re not going to fully flesh her out in an ensemble cast. And a lot of what you said is not necessarily true– it’s assuming Rafe’s intentions and internal state which we can’t be sure about. And that’s fine since it’s your opinion, but it doesn’t make it fact or canon, even if fact and canon is used to substantiate the points.

And your counter arguments which revolve around the deal make sense, but imo, when I think about the reason I like Sofia/rafesofia, the deal/why rafe agreed to the deal is not really in my mind. I agree with you that Rafe’s primary motivation is greed but I also think classifying their relationship as Sofia existing as material for him to show off is reductive. Like why wouldn’t he choose a kook girl then? And I don’t think his “disrespect” towards her is this intentional, cruel thing. Oftentimes when he’s being a dick, it’s usually a joke, or something he doesn’t even clock. In their private moments, I think the softness and respect he has for her is evident. (Like it’s undeniable he treats her differently/more nicely than he does with others).

And no one is really looking at Sofia as the main reason for Rafe’s change. I think we can all agree as a fandom that the Cameron family dynamic/Ward & Rafe relationship and rafe & sarah relationship is probably the most salient/engrossing aspects of the show. But Sofia does slot into Rafe’s character arc in a cogent way.

Like in s3 when he saved ward after soliciting Sofia for advice on the balcony or in s4 with the whole Sarah thing, Sofia nudged him, but she didn’t necessarily change his psyche to that much of a degree. You used the word “catalyst”, which I do think she is. She’s not the main reason for Rafe’s changes of heart, but she nudges him in the right direction, catalysing the process. That’s the point of her character imo– her kindness towards rafe encourages him to do the right thing. She offers an alternative path for Rafe and she’s the first person who offers him grace and pure love which thusly paints him in a different light. And that’s the alluring bit of their relationship (to me)– the potential of a future they have together which is ultimately hindered by the narrative (Rafe’s dark past and many issues).

And I honestly don’t understand the forgettable/unremarkable comments– she’s objectively likeable. But ofc people can think whatever, I just don’t see how the love towards her can be construed as confusing. I made a post about this here if you wanna check it out!

Using riara as an example, I personally don’t ship it and can’t see it happening, but I understand where riara shippers are coming from with their interpretations of the scenes (which I don’t necessarily agree with). With rafe and Sofia’s scenes, the same thing can be said. If you project an interpretation on to them, it can hold true (whether that interpretation be they’re in love or if it’s just rafe fulfilling a role and using Sofia to do that).

Another point– I think when rafe is disrespecting someone purposefully or when he’s using someone for his own gain, his insouciance is stark (like with limbery, topper, kiara, sarah, barry…I can’t think of anymore but there’s probably more). With Sofia, he’s never clearly contemptuous of her– you can presume his disrespect/dismissal because of the situation, but it’s never purposeful, which I think is significant.

Ig how you see her is dependent on how you see rafe and there’s sm wildly different interpretations of him in this fandom. But at the end of the day I think she’s just a character in an ensemble cast that people enjoy, and develop her further, which isn’t unheard of. Like when people do it with male characters it’s the norm. And it’s not like she’s this complete blank slate– Fiona Palomo does a lot with what she was given (which admittedly was scarce) and ig that charm is what makes sm people enjoy her character.

(Also regarding what the original ask said which I just noticed– the point of her character isn’t to help rafe reconcile with Sarah, idk where that came from. And she wasn’t doing nothing with the Hollis side plot– her morals and loyalty to rafe were tested and she was allowed to exist outsdie the confines of Rafe’s character)

Omg hi! I feel like I’m the only sofia hater out there bc all i see are people loving her character is so boring to me and her and rafe relationship seems so forced to me like she is supposed to help him reconcile with his sister but instead, she spent all season doing nothing apart from the hollis plot

being called a sofia hater cracks me up because i feel like i never talk about her, in fact i usually forget she exists 😭 but i’ll accept it, because i really do hate the way her character (which had a great premise) was totally wasted

a youtuber i really love once described pansy parkinson from harry potter as “an original character wearing the skin of a minor character” and i think that perfectly encapsulates sofia. they make these moodboards, these stories, these elaborate headcanons about a character we know little to nothing about. do i respect it? hell yes. it takes a lot of work. but to have these intense convictions and arguments about a 0.5-dimensional character… WHY?

i went and rewatched every scene in s4 where she even just appears and wrote down my thoughts on them (despite how tedious this was… the action really does rely on the pogues) and like… wow. where do i start

her s4 introduction is the scene where rafe scatters ward’s ashes on the boat, and it’s awkward but in a fair way. i wouldn’t really know what to do either. in the same episode, she’s at the enduro cheering for rafe, but she is inexplicably standing TOTALLY by herself. i still have no idea if this was just filmed oddly or if it was deliberate but this photo kills me… girl why are you alone? at no other point is she physically excluded from the kooks like this. wtf

and after that? nearly every single moment she and rafe share the screen? he’s awful to her. he verbally mocks her in the bar when she tries to calm him down. he flirts with hollis right in sofia’s face and abases her for feeling hurt. he dismisses her every time she tries to express her opinion. rafe does not respect his girlfriend, nor does he care about her thoughts and values. how do i know?

because she knows. how exactly did she convince him to take the deal, again? well, first she says she thinks it’s a good idea, which merely amuses him. then, she makes up a lie about other club members denigrating rafe and how this deal could improve his social status—i believe this to be a fabrication because it easily could’ve and should’ve been explicit on screen if true— and this causes him make up his mind. she knows rafe’s insecurities. she knows what does and doesn’t entice him. and yeah, i’ll be honest, sometimes it makes me sick to think about how deeply she knows this man, and how little he knows/cares about her

rafe brings up marriage, living together, a future with sofia. but do you notice anything about his big grand speeches? ever notice how, when he’s describing his fantasy, it revolves around material things he can own and show off— and sofia has always been one of them? rafe never has anything to say about what she specifically does for him, what he likes about her. bc… what does he like about her? rafe is unfortunately, at the end of the day, selfish. he focuses on what he’ll be able to give her, and what having a pretty wife says about him. the occupant of that role is, well, interchangeable

when rafe “proposed” to her and she did not confess the scam, i knew it was over. this is rafe cameron we’re talking about, a man who values loyalty more than anything in the world, and that was her last shot at coming clean before it was too late. committing a betrayal (well…in the eyes of the narrative…more on that in a sec) and hiding it from him? guys there was zero chance of him learning the truth and forgiving her. i watched the premier with my mother and i even turned to her and said we just watched the final nail go into the coffin. and it did!

(also, not to beat a dead horse, but even after he gives her the ring and he leaves to morocco, he dismissively excludes her again! “i have to go” “what are you doing?” “don’t worry about it, bye!” and she just takes it?! STAND UP!)

fundamentally, sofia’s “betrayal” plotline was weak or, at the very least, not very well thought-out. it’s like the idea of sofia going behind rafe’s back was pitched, but they were unsure how to integrate that into the season. the explosive reaction that rafe had when groff revealed the plot seemed contrived, like the show wanted to put more of the blame on sofia than was warranted. rafe had all but made up his mind by the time sofia had been paid off; to claim that she was the big catalyst in his decision is unfair and literally just wrong. sure, he liked her giving her blessing (because he already wanted to say yes), but i have a really, really genuine question for all of you.

if she had said no, would he have called off the deal?

(spoiler, no. because when she changed her mind after learning of the scam, he dismissed her yet again. the show has countless opportunities for rafe to just care about his girlfriend, and he never takes them!)

while i’m nitpicking, she also never learns any information via her own efforts. every single time she uncovers a new detail, it’s because she’s working around a loud-mouth kook who coincidentally says the right thing at the right moment as she refills their ewers. fuck, can we give her a CRUMB of agency? please?

and yeah, i don’t even engage in any theory that sofia helped rafe reunite with his family. did she ever give any meaningful advice to him? she didn’t even have context—was he ever planning on telling her exactly what he’d done to sarah and her friends? could sarah even pick this girl out of a lineup?! ya, she really is the glue in the cameron dynamic. lol

counter arguments i’m ready to address:

“he takes the deal for her!” funny because,,, he really doesn’t. we even watch the reason he takes the deal— his family. rafe likes the opportunity from the jump but is hesitant because of the investment, and a dreamy montage of him, ward, and sarah is what cements his decision. sofia canonically had nothing to do with it

“but he says he’s taking the deal for him and sofia when he’s alone with hollis!” correct! but you’ll notice he literally only brings her up when hollis starts hitting on him. he’s not attracted to hollis, and her advances make him visibly uncomfortable. bringing up sofia was a way to shut down hollis without explicitly telling a business partner to get off his ass

“rafe brings up sofia’s opinion of the deal with groff!” true, but i actually see this as a display of rafe’s tact and emotional intelligence. rafe is suspicious that he’s been scammed, but it’s genuinely not wise to barge into the office of the man who has $400k of your money and your testicles in his fist to start threatening him— even when he’s not a murderer. “hey… so my gf thinks you’re scamming me… thoughts?” he’s being coy. he’s being smart. he’s not bringing up sofia in a loverboy context. cmon

When did it become too much?

These were the questions that burned in my brain on a daily basis. My forbidden romance to my brother’s worst enemy looming over as it became harder to hide. I was sure at least Hermione knew, she had caught on to the longing looks between us. She never mentioned it, but she’s a genius so of course she suspected. 

Sixth year had started, and with the rise of Voldemort it became the upmost importance to find out everything we could about him. I was supposed to be helping Harry with becoming closer to Professor Slughorn, but I couldn’t stop the nagging feeling about Draco. Something was different with him, and I was going to find out.

Harry had come into the Great Hall, his face covered in blood. Just before that Draco had entered, so I suspected that got into a bit of a scuffle. After Dumbledores speech, I waited in the hall as everyone else began to pile out. Draco was the last to exit, having known I’d be waiting for him. He reached out to caress my cheek, smiling softly. 

“You messed up my brother’s face pretty bad, why?” I asked, holding on to his suit jacket.

“Payback for my father.” he murmured.

“I was there too, you gonna punch me?” I mumbled, looking down when I couldn’t meet his gaze.

“I wouldn’t ever lay a hand on you, you know that.” he hissed, moving his hand to take a fist full of my hair.

Draco pulled me tightly against him, leaning to join our lips. We hadn’t been able to see each other for the entire summer, the pent up emotions leaking from both of us. He licked my bottom lip, my tongue came out immediately to play with his. Our kiss became deeper, hands leaving to feel every inch of each other. 

Once we pulled away, he stayed close to lean his forehead on mine. I hugged him tightly to me, taking in this precious time we had together. We were both damaged on the inside, so I saw that as as sign that we were meant to be together. 

“We should go before the Prefects come looking for us.” Draco mumbled, but not making any moves to let go.

“I’ll see you this weekend though right?” I inquired hopefully.

“As always darling, good night.” he spoke, kissing my lips gently.

He walked towards his common room, turning to glance at me one more time. I blew him a kiss to which he caught and held to his heart. I too made my way back to the common room, being met with the inquisitive look of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

“Where have you been?” Harry interrogated, folding his arms across his chest.

“I was talking with Luna,” I lied, shrugging my shoulders.

“You’re lying y/n.” he hissed.

“Can we save the interrogation for a later time, I’d like to go to bed.” I snapped.

“You realize we have a job to do, if Dumbledore didn’t entrust us with this it wouldn’t be important!” he scolded.

“You think I don’t know that! Stop acting like you’re the only one affected by all of this Harry! I was there too, I have a scar just as you do!” I bellowed.

“This isn’t helping anything you two! We all just need to go to bed.” Hermione mediated.

I stomped off to my room, throwing my bag under my bed. I did my nightly routine, then huddled into bed. I was still aggravated with my brother, so it made it almost impossible for me to be comfortable. After some time of me shuffling around, I finally made it so I could drift off to sleep.

After a stressful first week of classes, the weekend was finally here. I was excited to finally spend some time with Draco, now just having to make up an excuse to get away from my brother, Ron, and Hermione. I grabbed the invisibility cloak, stuffing it in my bag. The trio came down in the common room where I was currently sitting by the fire.

“Are you not coming to Hogsmeade?” Harry questioned.

“No, I think I’m going to stay in and study for herbology. I have a big paper that I need to get started on.” I lied easily.

“I’m rubbing off on you aren’t I y/n?” Hermione joked.

“I think so, have fun guys!” I grinned, watching until they disappeared.

I waited for a minute before jumping up from my spot, jerking the cloak out of my bag to throw it on. I walked quickly to mine and Darco’s meeting spot, choosing the Room of Requirement. I imagined a room with a fireplace, and a huge comfy king sized bed.

I waited hours, starting to get extremely angry. How could he just blow me off like that? I was about to leave when Draco entered the room, worry in his eyes. Something was off about his movements, he was jerky and nervous. He relaxed when his eyes fell on me however, but I was still boiling with rage.

“It’s a little late Dray,” I griped, turning away from him.

“I’m sorry darling, I was...I was caught up with something.” he stammered. 

“Caught up with Pansy?” I snapped, folding my arms over my chest.

“Y/n, you know it’s not like that.” he griped, gripping my chin to make me face him.

“You looked pretty cozy in potions the other day.” I challenged.

Draco pulled me in his arms, my arms going around his middle. I pouted up at him, his hands coming to hold my face. He smirked, knowing that I was jealous. I hated that we had to hide our relationship. Until this war was over, we had to cherish each moment we had with each other.

“You know you needn’t worry about my feelings for you, you mean the world to me.” he spoke, leaning down to connect our lips.

I held on to his sides as I kissed him, our tongues immediately coming out to explore the other’s mouth. His hands traveled over my body, I felt a scorching heat despite still having clothes on. I took a step, moving him back towards the bed. He hummed deep in his chest, not pulling away from our kiss. Both of us shoved our shoes off, Draco sitting on the bed as I stood between his legs.

I pulled back from him, my eyes wildly staring into his. I pulled his shirt off, feeling his bare shoulders down to where I could reach. I stopped at his pants, and he stood from the bed. He shucked his pants off, my eyes being met with his very hard manhood. Draco grabbed under my jaw, yanking me so I was flush against him. 

“Are you sure?” he asked, a nod coming from me.

His demeanor changed then, pushing my shoulders so I was on my knees. He gripped my hair in a ponytail, shoving me to his dick. He took his member in his hands, tapping it on my lips. I opened my mouth to take him down my throat, moving until I gagged. He threw his head back, his abs flexing when he moved back to look at me. Draco assisted in moving my head by tugging on my hair, his breathing starting to become more labored. 

I bobbed my head faster, my hands taking place on his thighs. I flicked my tongue over his head, causing him to let out a choked moan. He tried to push me down further, but I dug my nails into his skin. I gagged when he tried to fuck up into my mouth. 

“I know you can take all of me.” he gritted.

I took a deep breath and pushed until my forehead touched his v-line, shaking my head against him. He gasped loudly, his hands coming to hold the back of my head. One of my hands came up to fondle his balls, squeezing them lightly. 

He yanked me off of him, pulling me to my feet. He turned around to shove me roughly on the bed, following as I crawled up the bed. Draco ripped my clothes off, leaving me naked before him. He got right to it, throwing my legs over his shoulders. I whimpered when he took my clit into his mouth, flicking his tongue out. He licked all over my heat, coming back to suck on the nub.

His fingers prodded around my entrance, my body twitching in response. I moaned loudly when he slowly entered his fingers, curling them up into me. He moved faster, pounding his fingers into me. My body tried to raise off the bed, but Draco wrapped his arms around my hips to hold me down. I dug my hands into his blonde hair, tugging harshly on the strands. He moaned on me, making my orgasm hit me out of nowhere.

I yelped, writhing on the bed as he continued his movements. Draco hovered over me, lining up with my entrance. He pushed in slowly, both of us tensing up. I stared into his eyes as we became one, both our panting breaths hitting each other’s skin.

“I love you,” Draco confessed, my heart taking flight.

“I love you Dray, always.” I breathed, bringing his lips to mine. 

He held still for a minute, letting me get used to the feeling of him being inside of me. He moved his hips a little, sending a wave of explicit pleasure through me. I cursed loudly, my legs coming around him. He smirked, doing to movement again. I hissed through my teeth, digging my nails into his back. 

Draco picked up his pace, starting to go a little faster. I dug my head deeper in the pillows, whining loudly at how good I felt. I could already feel my second high nearing, my hips now leaving to meet with his. I choked out a moan when Draco moved one of his hands to rub my clit, staring at where we were connected.

He rubbed me faster, jamming his hips into mine. His other hand squeezing my hip bone hard enough I knew there’d be a bruise, but I didn’t care. He let out little moans, leaning down to leave his mark on my neck. I could feel myself building closer, my muscles starting to tense up. One particular thrust hit that spot inside me that made me lose it, arching my back completely. Draco continued to move until he stilled inside me, his seed splashing in my walls.

Draco collapsed on top of me, rolling over slightly so all his weight wasn’t on me. We held each other for hours, basking in the after glow. I ended up falling asleep to Draco combing his fingers gently through my hair.

It had been weeks since that night which had me on edge. I noticed that Draco had become more distant than ever, skipping meals, class, and he looked so tired.

What was he up to?

Did his parents have him roped into something?

We were in the Great Hall one morning, Harry still reading that stupid potions book he was obsessed with. Hermione caught our attention, calling for us.

“There’s Katie, Katie Bell.” she spoke. 

The both of us shot up from our seat, going towards the girl that was hexed. 

“Katie,” Harry called.

“How are you?” I asked.

“I know what you both are going to ask...but I don’t know who cursed me. I wish I could remember, but I just can’t. I-” she stopped, staring at someone behind us.

We turned to see Draco, looking like he had just seen a ghost. My heart dropped to my stomach, a thought clicked in my head about that night weeks ago. He was late because of Katie, he cursed her. Harry took off, chasing after Draco who had ran out of the Hall. It took me a moment before I followed, running after my brother who was set to no doubt kill or harm my lover.

“Harry! Stop!” I shouted.

He didn’t listen though, bursting into the men’s room. I heard crying, seeing Draco hunched over the sink. I clutched at my chest, my heart feeling like it was going to burst from my chest. 

“It was you. You hexed Katie didn’t you Malfoy?” Harry taunted, my arm shooting out to grab his wrist.

“Harry,” I hissed, but he ended up pushing the both of us down. Draco fired a spell at us that I didn’t see coming. 

The three of us fired spells back and forth, I purposefully missed Draco. Harry yelled out a spell I had never heard before, hearing a thud as Draco hit the floor. My instincts kicked in as I ran to him, blood covering his whole upper body.

“Harry, what did you do?! Oh Merlin! Dray, baby can you hear me?” I cried, pulling him into my lap. 

I started to cry uncontrollably, unsure of how to reverse the damage. Harry stared at me as realization came to his features, Before he could say anything, Professor Snape came through the entry way. He came to the other side of me, Harry running out of the room. 

“Help him Professor, please.” I blubbered, sobs wracking though my body.

It used to be that the obx tag on ao3 was pretty much exclusively jiara fics, but now it’s all just jjpope with a rare jiara and it makes me sad 😢. Hopefully jiara week coming up will change that

A lot of us are saving/stockpiling our fics for Jiara week so that’s probably a big factor! For example, I currently have like five fics I’m writing simultaneously (wish me luck lmao).

I usually just stick to the JJ/Kiara tag though so I’m not sure what the whole archive looks like. I know we still have more fics total, but to be honest, m/m or f/f ships usually seem to end up with the most fics in fandoms so we’re doing something right 😂
