i love when i discover a new author from a really good fic, and i scroll far down enough into an their bookmarks and find a fic that has some similar scene to their fic, and then i go into the comments and see them gushing about the fic and i'm like I FOUND YOUR SECRETS. I SEE YOU

it's just endearing to me lmfao i bet if someone read my big stsg wip (stsgzume) and then read my favorite fics they'd be like "oh i see this homage to saturday night live (the stsg fic) or 1000 yen for a kiss everybody (the stsg fic) or 2 sorcerers (the stsg fic)"

one of the great things about fanfics is that like. a lot of it is already repeated content, eg. how many cafe aus or canon compliant aus can you possibly read that are completely entirely original plots, but fanfic readers are used to reading a lot of similar things and enjoying all of it rather than complaining about it being unoriginal or uninspired like with original work. i think it makes you pay more attention to the little artistic flourishes that stand out, like certain lines or descriptions or portrayals

which i think is beautiful!!! i think it's great to promote that kind of positivity around just writing what you want to (usually inspired by other people writing what they want to) rather than worrying over whether it'll be the most groundbreaking drama someone will ever read. it's seriously just the two cakes meme which is just such a great way of interacting with media i think lol
