Savanna Squad Presentation Night Headcanons/mini fic [1/3]
splitting this into three headcanon parts because my god its long
eat up :]
Part 1: Taylor & Logan Part 2: Ben & Tyler Part 3: Aiden & Ashlyn
Ashlyn's POV
So the question is: How did we get here? Simple answer really. Taylor. She was always the one to suggest these kinds of things, team building hang outs, though last time it was just us.
The rest of the boys had plans. Tyler had practice to attend, one of the late kinds, Ben and Logan had a project together due for bio in a day or two, and Aiden, for some reason, had a late dentist appointment (much to his dismay). Only Taylor could make it to the graveyard early. Initially, we were just meant to manage our resources, which was manageable with one person, but it was always easier with other people to bounce ideas off of. That's all it was meant to be, but Taylor had other ideas.
"Girls night!!" She had cheered, and we just hung out.
And I had fun.
But as Logan fights with his laptop to mirror on the T.V for the presenters, that being us, I can't help but feel like I'm going to regret this one. Especially with Tweedledee and Tweedledum in the background yelling about something that I don't want to know about, but will probably learn against my will.
Just as Taylor and Ben come downstairs with blankets and pillows, Logan's T.V finally projects the wallpaper of his laptop.
"It's set up, thank god," he sighs, with that last part being under his breathe. And as we set up in his living room, Ben dragging Aiden and Tyler from the kitchen, both with bags of snacks in their arms, and Taylor handing out blankets, we finally sit in our places.
The next question, however, is Who goes first?
Taylor Hernandez
Taylor goes first because she's the one who planned it and was the most excited about it. Aiden tried to go first, but it was collectively agreed that he would be going last for no reason other than to piss him off lmao
Anyways, we love a STEM girl (be still my own heart) so her presentation would be all about her tools and work for the mechanics club. She takes this club seriously, not only because it's good for networking, but because she genuinely finds it fun. I like to think that there are two levels to the club where one is just a standard club and the second level is a competition team, and she was shooting to be a part of the competition league (totally not projecting because I'm a robotics kid)
Her presentation is so well done. It's not only really well organized, but it is just so pretty. It's the type of presentation that teachers would drool over. Avid Canva user b/c it has a lot of customization options that she loves.
What's a toolbox tour without the actual toolbox that's just as decorated as her slideshow. And she takes care of it, too.
Her presentation is so fun and sets a fun tune for the night, and she manages to make this topic really engaging. She would have a little quiz at the end, too, where if one of the group gets a question correct, they get a piece of candy
shows off tools like she's filming a makeup tutorial, I saw this on tumblr, and it's just canon at this point. No criticisms are accepted because it just isn't possible.
Group's reaction
Ashlyn and Ben are the ones who pay the most attention to the presentation. Ashlyn also gets the most questions right at the end of the quiz.
Logan asks the most questions in between slides, but not in an annoying way. He does get a bit lost, though, considering just how many tools there are.
Tyler and Aiden are still bickering a bit. Aiden can't sit still for the life of himself, but he swears that he is listening. Tyler would say otherwise.
Aiden is, though, and he ends up getting Taylor a really nice tool set that she mentioned she wanted when presenting just because he can. He is her favorite for a few days. He absolutely would have a shit eating grin looking at Tyler to just say, "See, I was listening :D". Tyler would then say that he could go fuck himself /hj
Logan Fields
Logan is next. The laptop hates him, and it's old and shuts down multiple times in his presentation. The group then had to watch this man fight with a busted 4-year-old laptop and lose several times. Have you ever seen your parents fight with a printer the night before you have a school project due? It's like that, and the rest are concerned.
He is an astrology bitch, and I will take no criticisms. But like, not in the way that it controls his life, he would not be caught dead saying that the stars told him to do something, like not let him eat alfredo on Sunday or something like that. He's more interested in the concept itself since the idea of zodiacs have existed for so long. Its his comfort research topic.
Absolutely went HAM on researching each and every one of their birth charts. Ask him to show you his notes, and he would not show you. Why??? because he took up an entire notepad (it's one of the smaller ones but still).
"Logan's so innocent" "Logan's so sweet" "My boy can do no wro-" NO!!!! THAT MOTHERFUCKER WILL READ YOU TO FILTH AND I STAND BY THIS. ITS LIKE HE LOOKED YOUR SOUL, UP AND DOWN, AND EXPOSED IT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE (something tells me Tyler gets it the worse. idk why it just feels right)!!! If he feels like something doesn't fit one of the people in the group he is clear about it
"Here is Gemini, a social butterfly. Here is Ashlyn. A Gemini. I love Ashlyn, but like a year ago I have actually seen you jump a fence to avoid a group of people who go to our high school without thinking, and I would say that needs an intervention but you'd also avoid it by jumping a fence." "..."
The presentation itself is long as hell. Like he goes in depth about everything that he talks about, and if you interrupt him, he will shoot you with a spray bottle. Did I mention there's a group spray bottle? Guess why they have one.
Somehow, he is still only the second longest presentation.
Group's Reaction
Taylor is his biggest hypeman. I feel like she'd also enjoy astrology a bit, too, though she's more of a casual fan. She is also one of the few people who is free from Logan's jabs.
Ben is also free from his jabs because he helped him with the laptop, which, thank god, because Logan was about to lose it. I don't think he really believes in astrology. The most he knows is his sun sign on the surface level. He is invested, though.
Don't think Ash is very interested in astrology either, and at some points in his presentation, he just loses her attention.
Tyler gets sprayed at least twice with the spray bottle because he gets defensive. Surprisingly, I do think he would be somewhat interested and knowledgeable about his star signs at least, mainly because he had to deal with Taylor when she went through an astrology phase (let me tell you it was brutal).
Aiden is also interested and engaged in the presentation, but maybe a little too much. What I mean is that he interrupts at points and is the reason why the spray bottle exists. Logan is flattered, but istg Aiden if you interrupt this man one more time...
By the end of the two presentations, the group is in pretty high spirits and having a good time, despite the fact that two of them are a bit wet.
Logan's laptop, however, is not, and just as they were setting up Ben's powerpoint, it decides that it was a good time to perform a mandatory update and restarts.
Absolute silence.
You could hear a pin drop.
And all eyes go to Logan.
"..."
"..."
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!"
Long story short, the presentations have to be postponed for around an hour and forty-eight minutes (maybe you never know with computers), and Logan is taking a walk.

Creative Ways to Use Animal Wallpaper in Your Home
Animal wallpaper is a fun and creative way to add personality to your living spaces. From panda wallpaper to bold lion designs, animal-themed decor offers endless possibilities to showcase your style. Below are some simple and creative ideas to incorporate animal print wallpaper, animal murals, and other designs into your home.
Feature a Focal Wall
Choose a wall in your space and make it the highlight of the room with animal wallpaper. A panda wallpaper, for example, can create a calm and friendly vibe, while monkey wallpaper adds a playful touch. For those who prefer something bold, a lion wallpaper can make a powerful statement. A focal wall with animal prints is an easy way to add visual interest without overwhelming the space.
Use Subtle Animal Print Wallpaper
If you want to keep it understated, go for animal print wallpaper with softer patterns or muted colours. Leopard or zebra-inspired prints can provide texture and character without being too overpowering. Subtle designs also work well with other decor elements and colours in the space, keeping the overall look balanced and cohesive.
Add Whimsy with a Playful Theme
Animal wallpapers can add a sense of fun and creativity. Monkey wallpaper with hanging vines or colourful birds in a jungle setting creates a playful theme. Cat wallpaper featuring cute or quirky illustrations is ideal for adding charm. Pair these designs with light, neutral furniture to let the wallpaper shine as the centrepiece.
Incorporate Animal Murals for Artistic Flair
Animal murals can give your walls an artistic and lifelike appearance. A mural featuring pandas in a bamboo forest or lions in a savanna can turn a plain wall into a creative masterpiece. These large-scale designs often work well in open spaces where their details can be fully appreciated.
Mix and Match with Complementary Decor
When using animal wallpaper, you can coordinate with other decor elements like cushions, rugs, or artwork. For example, cat wallpaper with soft pastel hues pairs well with minimalistic furniture and cosy textiles. Similarly, lion wallpaper in warm tones can be complemented by natural wood finishes and earthy colours.
Create a Themed Corner
Dedicate a small corner for a specific theme with animal print wallpaper. For example, a reading nook with panda wallpaper can create a peaceful vibe, while a workspace with monkey wallpaper can inspire a lively atmosphere. These themed corners are great for adding a personalized touch to your space.
Highlight Smaller Areas
You donât need to cover an entire wall to enjoy the charm of animal wallpaper. Use it in smaller areas like the back of a bookshelf, inside cabinets, or even as a border. A touch of panda or cat wallpaper in unexpected spots adds interest and creativity without taking up too much visual space.
Blend Patterns and Colors
Animal-themed wallpapers come in a variety of patterns and colours, making it easy to find one that suits your preferences. Mix patterned animal wallpaper with solid-coloured walls to achieve a balanced look. For instance, monkey wallpaper with green jungle backgrounds pairs well with neutral furniture, creating a fresh and harmonious design.
Go Bold with Vibrant Designs
For those who enjoy bright and vivid spaces, choose animal wallpapers with bold colours and detailed patterns. A lion wallpaper with intricate designs in gold and black or a mural featuring vibrant tropical animals can bring an energetic vibe to the space. Pair these wallpapers with simple decor to keep the focus on the lively patterns.
Animal wallpaper offers plenty of opportunities to express your creativity. Whether you prefer a subtle animal print wallpaper or a detailed mural, there are designs for every style. From pandas to lions, you can find the perfect wallpaper to match your personality and make your home unique.

Why Wildlife Wallpaper is Perfect for Kidsâ Rooms and Nurseries
When decorating kidsâ rooms and nurseries, parents often look for ways to create a playful, comforting, and inspiring space. Wildlife wallpaper is an ideal choice for this, as it transforms walls into scenes of nature and wildlife, sparking curiosity and imagination. With wildlife wallpaper, children can feel like theyâre stepping into a vibrant forest, underwater world, or jungle surrounded by fascinating animals. Letâs explore why wildlife wallpaper, including monkey wallpaper, vintage wallpaper, and nature-inspired designs, is the perfect choice for kidsâ rooms and nurseries.
Fostering Curiosity and Imagination
Wildlife wallpaper fills a room with scenes of nature, whether animals in a lush jungle, a forest of towering trees, or underwater fish swimming by. Children are naturally curious, and having such designs on their walls can inspire them to ask questions about the animals and environments they see, encouraging them to learn more about the world. Wallpaper with animals like monkeys, elephants, or a fish-filled sea scene turns walls into storytelling backdrops, helping parents introduce their kids to different animals and ecosystems.
For example, wildlife murals can create a larger-than-life scene that captures the imagination. A 3D wildlife wallpaper adds depth and realism, making animals like lions, zebras, and exotic birds appear to leap off the wall. This immersive experience can help children feel more connected to nature and inspire early learning.
A Calming and Soothing Atmosphere
The serene greens of a rainforest, the blues of an underwater scene, or the soft hues of a vintage nature landscape can create a calming effect in a childâs room. Nature has a soothing influence, and wallpaper with nature scenes can help to create a peaceful environment that supports sleep and relaxation.
Wildlife peel and stick wallpaper is a versatile option for nurseries, allowing parents to try out different designs until they find one that feels just right. Gentle animal scenes, like a family of elephants or a monkey swinging from tree to tree, can provide comfort to babies and toddlers. These soothing scenes make wildlife wallpaper an especially appealing choice for bedtime routines.
Educational Benefits of Wildlife Wallpaper
Wildlife wallpaper can be an educational tool in disguise. Whether it's wild animal wallpaper with creatures from the African savanna or nature wildlife wallpaper that features a lush forest ecosystem, kids can learn the names and characteristics of various animals as they grow. Placing animals in their natural habitats helps children begin to understand concepts of environment, habitat, and even biodiversity.
Choosing wildlife mural wallpaper that displays different biomesâlike oceans, jungles, or savannasâcan further enrich their understanding. A wallpaper that combines animals like fish, birds, and land animals lets children observe how different species coexist in nature. By interacting with the environment on their walls daily, kids may develop a lasting respect for wildlife and nature wallpaper.
Encouraging Creativity and Playfulness
Wildlife wallpaper designs bring playfulness to any room. Whether monkeys swinging in trees, birds in flight, or fish swimming through coral reefs, kidsâ rooms are instantly more dynamic and fun with wildlife wallpaper.
Monkey wallpaper, for example, is a favourite for nurseries and playrooms. Monkeys are playful and animated, capturing the spirit of adventure and fun that children often exude. The lively designs encourage kids to play, imagine, and interact with the world around them. Moreover, because wildlife wallpaper usually comes in peel-and-stick options, parents can easily switch up the designs as their children grow, moving from cute animal scenes in their early years to more intricate wildlife landscapes as they age.
Vintage and Classic Style for Timeless Design
While wildlife wallpaper is often playful, it mustnât be overly bright or modern. With their classic styles and muted tones, vintage wallpaper designs bring a sense of timelessness to a nursery or childâs room. A vintage wildlife wallpaper with soft, hand-drawn animals or antique botanical illustrations can create a beautiful, calming atmosphere that feels elegant and enduring.
Vintage wildlife wallpaper often features gentle colours and illustrations, making it an excellent choice for parents who want a stylish and classic room while still being child-friendly. Vintage wildlife wallpapers are also versatile, working well with various decor styles and allowing a seamless transition from nursery to older childrenâs room as they grow.
Practicality and Easy Installation
Many parents choose wildlife peel and stick wallpaper for its flexibility. Peel and stick options are easy to install and remove, allowing for design changes without the hassle of traditional wallpaper installation. As children grow, parents can easily swap the current design for something more age-appropriate without a complete room makeover.
For example, a room that begins with simple wildlife murals in soft colours can later transition to bolder, more complex scenes featuring jungle animals or fish wallpaper for a splash of colour and adventure. Peel and stick wallpapers are particularly useful in rented spaces where long-term wall alterations are not allowed.
A Personalized and Unique Space
Wildlife wallpaper can make a childâs room feel genuinely unique and special. Wildlife wallpaper gives each room its character, unlike solid paint colours, which can sometimes feel impersonal. Whether itâs a jungle filled with colourful parrots and curious monkeys or an ocean scene with fish gliding through coral reefs, each design offers a unique world for children to explore.
Parents can mix and match different types of wildlife wallpaper, adding accents with fish wallpaper on one wall and a jungle scene on another, creating a personalized, imaginative space that will grow with their child.
Conclusion
Wildlife wallpaper is a versatile, visually appealing option for kidsâ rooms and nurseries. From stimulating curiosity and learning to creating a soothing environment and playful atmosphere, itâs a design choice that benefits both children and parents. Whether you opt for monkey wallpaper, vintage wallpaper, or 3D wildlife wallpaper, the right design can inspire and comfort your children as they grow. Wildlife wallpaper lets children experience the beauty of nature up close, creating a space thatâs as educational as it is enchanting.

ă chapter 5 - of promises (and memories to be made) ă
author's note: it's been over a MONTH since i've updated this series,,,,so i apologize for neglecting you guys of leonayuu content sjkfjdsk this chapter turned out a lot different from the initial plan, but i like it !! it's fun and there's a lot of cute moments in it <33 leona's having a great time in this chapter haha *thumbs up emoji* i hope you enjoy !
word count: 5.8k (yeah it's hella long, fight me)
tags: new year's feast !!, they're munching on expensive food, yuu visits afterglow savanna (REAL), leonayuu first meeting storytime sjfkdjfk, ghost camera actually comes in handy, crowley makes a Mistake, leona's left to deal with the consequences, #pray 4 leona everyone >:DDD
[ baby it's cold outside series | or read it on ao3 ]
warning: depictions of being drunk.
New Year's. Yuu didn't think that it would be a big deal in Twisted Wonderland as it was in their world but after Ace and Deuce started blowing up their phone about "coordinated magical laser shows" it seemed like a pretty big thing. It seemed that even in a foreign world, celebrating the start of a New Year wasnât uncommon at all.
They had also gotten a message from Crowley saying that he was sending over a feast via Magi-liveryâ an abbreviation of Magic Delivery, apparentlyâ to Ramshackle dorms. (This was the first message they had received from Crowley since break started and yet they were simply glad that he remembered about them.)
Now the hard part was convincing Leona to walk all the way over to Ramshackle to have the feast.
"Absolutely not," Leona has said, still buried face-deep in his pillow. It wasn't as adverse of a reaction as they were expecting. Maybe he was still hazy from his afternoon nap?
"Please, Leona-sama," His ears had twitched receptively at that. "Our dear headmage is sending over a high-quality feast for free. And there'll be a laser show to celebrate the New Year."
"A laser show!" Yuu grinned winningly when Cheka bounded over, hopping onto Leona's back to get to them.
So that was how Operation: Get Leona to Ramshackle For The Feast became a success.
Sure, they had to trudge through a bit of snow to get to Ramshackle, and sure, Leona was cursing under his breath the whole time. But the important part was they made it to Ramshackle with minimal losses. The only loss was the feeling in Yuu's arms after carrying Cheka. Cheka had started getting fidgety as the sun was setting and Leona sent them the most withering glare so far so...they had to sacrifice their arms just a little to make the plan a success.
Opening the creaking gate felt almost nostalgic after being away for so long. And if Yuu didn't want to be called crazy, it almost looked like the house missed them too. They rapped on the door, setting Cheka on the floor before the door opened.
Grim looked overjoyed to see them, "Henchman!!! Did you finally realize that the Great Grim is a better boss than that lazy lion?"
"Well, 'that lazy lion' wants to go inside, or else maybe I'll have you both for dinner," Leona grumbled, shoving past Grim and the ghosts who had curiously floated towards the front door.
"I'll explain more inside," Yuu said, shaking the snow off their jacket before hanging it up. They did the same with Cheka's before realizing that Leona had gone inside without removing his jacket, no doubt trailing snow, and- Yuu sighed, and walked into the living room, Cheka trailing behind them like a lost puppy.
"What is this place, Yuu-tan?" Cheka asked, staring at the gaunt paintings and the peeling wallpaper in what looked to be fascination. Maybe this wasnât the most kid-friendly house to be in. It was a wonder Cheka didnât start crying as soon as he saw the darkened hallway.
"This is my house. Or the place I'm usually staying in," Yuu explained.
"Your house?" Cheka's ears twitched. "Oh, so you don't usually sleep with Ojitan?"
"Hah? Why would I share my bed with them all the time?" Leona was all bundled up, sitting in front of the fireplace. And Yuu really couldnât blame him. Although Ramshackle was as temperature regulated as the rest of campus, it didn't stop small drafts from making it through the cracks of the house itself. As they kept telling Crowley, this place was really due for a renovation.
"Mmm," Cheka bounced onto the couch with a giggle. "Cheka thought Ojitan and Yuu-tan were roommates since you guys are best friends!"
Grim let out a haughty laugh at that, "No way! The henchman is my roommate, and they're my best friend too!" As the two started to bicker over who Yuu's best friend wasâ without asking the person themselfâ Yuu walked over to Leona.
"C'mon, hand over the jacket," Yuu sighed, seeing the stubborn stare on Leona's face. "It'll be colder if you get wet, just hand it over."
"What're you, my babysitter?" Leona took the jacket off anyway. "You're gonna be living in...this all winter long?"
"I'm your servant, remember?" Yuu folded up the jacket. "And I guess. Unless you do all your school work."
"Ugh, there you go again mentioning work," Leona's ears folded as he sprawled out in front of the fireplace. "Where's all that food you promised?"
"It's practically nighttime, so it should be hereâ" A loud knock caused them all to jump. "âsoon. I guess I'll go get that."
The ghosts were hovering near the front door, "Ooh, there's a package."
"It looks safe," Another ghost commented. "No malicious energy coming from it."
Yuu opened the door to see the inconspicuous-looking package with a note on top of it. The note was written in Crowley's rambling font, and their gaze swept over the hastily written words:
Dearest Prefect and Grim,
I have been informed that the Crown Prince of Afterglow Savannah is also staying with you over winter break! How commendable of my best student to take care of them! To reward you, I've prepared a grand feast within the box. Make sure to open this whilst you are in Ramshackle's foyer or else it would be a disaster.
And I trust that you are keeping up with your tasks for this winter?
From your favorite headmage,
Dire Crowley
"Favorite headmage my ass," Yuu muttered, ripping off the note and placing it on the mantle. "Okay, I'm not sure how this'll work so, stand back."
"No way I'm moving, 's warm here," Leona grumbled from his place on the ground.
"Suit yourself," Yuu shrugged. "Don't blame me if you end up getting some food propelled into your face." Now that got Leona moving, much to their delight. But Leona just ended up draping himself over them like a particularly tall and particularly heavy blanket.
"Can you...not...?" They gritted their teeth, trying not to buckle under Leona's weight.
"Mmm, you told me to move, you didn't say where," Leona's arms wound around their waist, and strands of brown tickled their cheeks. Great Seven, he was being more insufferable than usual today. They felt small hands by their pants and they spotted Cheka ducking behind both their legs in a flurry of giggles.
"H-hey, stop hiding behind my henchman!" Grim huffed, rushing to get behind them. "That's not fair, y'know! Leave a spot for me!"
"Okay, I'm gonna open it," Yuu announced, having finished peeling the tape from the edges of the box top. "Three, two, one."
As soon as Yuu managed to pry off the top, a bout of magical energy burst into the room. The house creaked and groaned as the magic wrapped around them all. The furniture moved, bent to the will of the strong magic flowing from the box into the foyer, and in its place appeared a large mahogany table. Chairs lined the table, followed by a table cloth in a sequence that looked straight out of a movie.
"Ah! There's food!" Grim's excited voice was distant as they watched the food appear, stacked high on top of multiple golden plates. Yuu's jaw nearly dropped from seeing how much...of everything there was. From sushi to steak to even...was that a chocolate fountain? The table had it all.
Yuu finally drew a breath as the room stilled, "Holy shit. That was...awesome."
Leona gave a hum, slipping away to sit in front of all the steaks, "Not bad for a feast made by that crazy crow."
"Woah! There's so much cake!" Cheka exclaimed as Yuu finally did a circle around the table. The food looked world-class, akin to the type of food that they usually saw at Scarabia's lavish feasts. And not to mention all the plates and table wear. How many hundreds of millions of thaumarks did this all cost?
"Make sure not to break anything, Grim," Yuu reminded the monster, who was already face-deep in what looked like a chicken pot pie.
Grim swallowed, smearing more juices on his face as he grinned, "Yeah, yeah. The old crow's probably gonna bill us for broken things, right?"
Yuu slipped into the chair next to where Cheka was precariously perched, before lifting the little lion up, "You've gotta eat some actual food first before you get to the cake, little guy."
"Mmm! I'm a good lion, even my Papa doesn't like eating veggies," Cheka giggled as Yuu grabbed a couple of pillows for him to sit on. "Can I have some of the fried chicken? Ooh, and that green stuff?"
Yuu passed over the food, glancing up at Leona, "I guess that's one similarity between you and your brother, huh?"
There was a tail swat to their legs, "Shut it." It was almost intriguing to watch Leona run through his second steak. It was like...he was some sort of vacuum with how fast he was getting through them.
They nudged at his leg, putting a cup of water next to his plate, "Don't choke yourself on it."
"What a nice and caring servant I have," Leona's words dripped with sarcasm, but even so, he took a sip of water before slowing down his pace.
"Would you guys like to sit down too?" Yuu glanced up at the ghosts who were still milling around the table.
"Hihihi~ How nice of you to ask~," One of the ghosts said.
"We're okay, dearie," Another said. "You go and eat your fill. It's a special occasion after all."
And with that, Yuu finally got to eating themself. They took on a bowl of ramen, knowing that Grim wasn't too fond of soup and the like. The ramen itself was delicious, and so were all the other things they tried.
Cheka was tugging at their shirt before long, "Yuu-tan, Yuu-tan! You gotta try this thing! It's all squishy and melty on the inside but the outside is hard like a cracker." As Cheka raved, he swung what looked like a fried stick of...something on his fork.
"Yuu-tan, you'll try it, right?" Cheka said, finally presenting the fork towards Yuu's mouth.
"Sure," They took a bite, feeling melted cheese flooding their mouth. "Ah, I think that's a fried mozzarella stick."
"Fried...mozzarella?" Cheka's ears quirked. "I don't think I've ever had that before."
"'Course not," Leona commented drily. "At the palace, all you get is traditional food, right kid?"
"Mhm! But Mama said it's okay if we order Magi-livery twice a month," Cheka recited before chewing through the rest of the mozzarella stick. "Ish becuth Pwapa wansh to."
"And wouldn't your Papa tell you to eat first and then talk, brat?" Leona gave a sigh. "I'm warning you if you start choking..."
Yuu hid their smile behind a hand, "Woah, this is a rare sight... Leona being...caring?" That earned them a snarl and they felt Leona hook a foot under their chair and tug. They yelped as their chair jolted from the force.
"Being awfully chatty today, huh, herbivore?â He gave their chair one last shake. âWant me to remind you who has more to lose?"
"You need not worry, Master," Yuu made a show of bowing slightly. "I'll be your faithful servant till the day the winter ends, I promise that on what little possessions I own."
A strange look passed over Leona's face, and he paused mid-bite, "So what? After winter, you'll just go on your merry way?"
"Yup! You don't gotta see his face anymore after," Grim said, his face a mess of all the dishes he tried. Yuu grabbed one of the napkins, shaking their head as they wiped up the mess.
"By the end of winter, your paid gopher will be back," Yuu couldn't help the teasing that slipped into their voice as they added. "Oh my, will Leona-sama miss me?" There was a pause before the strange look passed from Leona's face completely.
He folded his arms, challenging them with a crook of the brow, "As if, I'd miss your annoying ass."
"Well, I'm sure Ojitan is ly~ing," Cheka declared loudly.
"Yeah?" Yuu brought up another napkin to wipe at Cheka's mouth. "How do you know that, little lion?"
"Because," Cheka pointed between them. "You guys are best friends. And cuz I'm gonna miss you, Yuu-tan! So Ojitan has to miss you too. Oh, promise you'll come to the Savanna to visit me sometime?"
Yuu gave him a soft smile, "I promise." They did it simply because it was...nice to have plans for the future. Especially with how uncertain everything was. It was nice to have places to explore and promises to keep; if only for the time that they would stay here.
"And if Yuu-tan came, then Ojitan would have to come home too, right?" Cheka smiled brightly at Leona then. "It's been so long since you've come!"
"I'd only come to keep you out of trouble," Leona said, sending them a pointed look. "The palace is filled to the brim with hunters, and you're the freshest prey. And they won't be as lenient as I am."
"Oh yeah? As lenient as you when we first met?" Yuu tapped their chin. "What was it that you said? 'Hope you're ready to leave behind a tooth?'"
Cheka gasped, brows scrunching together, "Ojitan, that's not nice, that's violence!"
"Yeah! And you were almost ready to punch us," Grim piped in helpfully. "We were just passin' through, y'know!"
"Ugh," Leona scratched at his ear. "I didn't know them back then, and they stepped on my tail first."
"And I was going to apologize until you threatened to knock out my teeth," Yuu countered.
"Mmm, sure you were," Leona propped up his head as he reached for yet another cut of steak. "You and that monster looked two seconds from running away."
Yuu threw their hands up in defeat, "Y'know what, I give up."
And at that exact moment, a bright light flashed through the window, illuminating the room for just a brief moment. Yuu blinked, feeling Cheka suddenly latching onto them and Grim's claws on their other side. What...was thatâ?
"You guys really are a bunch of scared herbivores," Leona drawled, looking unfazed. "Didn't you mention something about a laser show?"
"That was the laser show?" Grim exclaimed, looking half-scared and half-intrigued.
"I was wondering how Ace was expecting me to be able to watch it from here," Yuu muttered, peeling Grim's claws away from their arm. "I guess it's just...really that bright."
"I wanna see!" Cheka announced, no longer afraid as he bounded for the couch. Grim wasn't far behind him and Yuu followed them as well. The lights danced, nothing like the laser shows they saw in their old world. No, instead these lights seemed to have a life of their own. They formed pictures, of different animals and sights from Sage Island recreated in the backdrop of the night sky.
âO-one day the Great Grim will be able to do stuff like that, yâknow!â
âWill they do a lion? I wanna see them do a big strong lion, like Ojitan!â
âWanna take a picture?â Yuu blurted, looking at the two kids. âI mean, I still have that ghost camera, so itâd be a waste not to take one.â
âThatâs a great idea, henchman!â Grim proudly sat in the middle of the couch. âThe Great Grim will take the center place, yâknow!â
âI wanna sit next to Ojitan!â Cheka proclaimed before sending the biggest kitten eyes over to Leona, who was still at the table.
âNo way. Iâm not joining that.â
âCome on,â They shook the camera in Leona's direction. âJust do it for the memories! We havenât taken pictures at all, so isnât it okay to have one picture to commemorate this winter?â
And maybe Yuu was speaking too closely to their own heart because after the winter, this would really all be over. They were a first-year, so it wasnât like they had many opportunities to see Leona in class. And it wasnât like Leona ever attended class. They would have no excuse to seek him out again after theirâŚcontract was completed. But was it really wrong to want to hold on to memories of this? Of the first time since they've gotten here that they really felt like they belonged to something?
So Yuu was secretly overjoyed when Leona finally stood up, lumbering over to the space next to Cheka and sprawling out on the couch. âIâm allowing one picture. One. And you better not post it anywhere. I donât want anyone thinkinâ Iâm getting cushy with herbivores like you.â
Yuu ignored the off-handed jab, positioning the camera on the table. They stacked a few books underneath it, balancing it against a spare candleholder. They glanced towards the seemingly-empty hallway, âWould you guys like to join us for the picture? Since itâs a ghost camera, maybe it could capture ghosts too.â As they thought, the ghosts appeared one by one, all displaying their creepy-yet-also-kind-of-friendly smiles.Â
âWe would love to,â One of them said, before floating over to line the back of the couch.
âHenchman, Iâll allow you to sit next to the Great Grim,â Grim placed a paw to the vacant spot next to him. âAnd Iâll let you sit next to me too, yâknow.â Cheka smiled brightly at the permission, squeezing between Grim and Leona.
âOkay, Iâll set the timer for five seconds, so everyone get ready,â They glanced over at Leona, rolling their eyes. âLeona-sama, could this humble servant request an expression that isnât one of such disdain?â
âTch,â Leonaâs face morphed into one that looked awfully like a cross between a sneer and a smirk. Well, it was better than the huge frown he was sporting earlier.
They clicked on the button, carefully making their way to the couch and sitting down. They made sure to lean towards Grim, giving the ghost camera a big smile as it flashed. As soon as it was over, the ghosts dissipated, returning to their wandering. And the two kids? They returned to watching the laser show.
âAh! A lion, they did a lion, did you see that Ojitan?â There was a grumbled reply as Yuu tucked the photo onto the mantle for safekeeping. It was definitely a photo to remember. From theirs and Grimâs matching grins to Chekaâs toothy smile, and Leonaâs disgruntled look, it was all captured in the ghost cameraâs film forever.
Yuu walked back to the table, taking this as a good time to start cleaning up. As they stacked the empty plates, they could feel Leona watching them. "What?" They asked, adding a few more cups onto the precarious pile of dishes.
Leona's expression soured, "You're such a goody-two-shoes."
"Hey, I'm trying not to waste food," Yuu brought the pile into their hands. "Besides, I don't see you volunteering to help."
"You're right. I'm not," Then Leona was back to folding his arms. "Just do it quick before the brats get loud again."
Yuu made their way to the Ramshackle kitchen, which...wasn't really much of a kitchen. But hey, at least the stove and fridge worked. They carefully placed the stack into the kitchen sink before going back to pick up any dishes they didn't get. Leona was watching them for a while before he lost interest, looking more like he'd fall asleep in two seconds.
Now it was the fun part: sorting all the leftovers. There were a couple of dishes and a lot of desserts that went untouched. Probably because Leona wasn't much of a sweet tooth, and the kids had filled themselves to the brim with the main dishes and appetizers. After putting them away into plastic containers, Yuu leaned against the counter with a sigh.
The two kids sounded energetic, despite it almost being twelve already, and they could hear them chatter and argue even from all the way over here. And last time they checked, Leona was slumped on the corner of the couch, scrolling through his phone.
Yuu grabbed one of the unopened glass bottles, pouring its contents into a cup. The liquid looked sparkly, almost like someone poured a tube of glitter into it. They gave it a cursory sniff. It smelled like some sort of...fruit juice.
As soon as they took a sip, they deemed that it was some sort of soda, as the liquid fizzed and popped against their tongue. They downed a whole cup of it in no time, the slightly-cold drink feeling nice after their hard work. And hey, who were they to deny some probably-expensive magical sparkly juice that Crowley bought them? Even when...wait, was magical juice supposed to make the temperature of the room rise?
There was a tug on their pants and they looked down to see Cheka standing there, "Ojitan said it's time for bed because it's almost twelve." Yuu fanned at themself before nodding, feeling the heat settling at the base of their throat. When they looked up again, it felt like the room was tilting and they stumbled right into the doorjamb with a grunt.
"Ah?" They felt confused. How come everything felt so floaty and weird all of a sudden? They crouched down, planting themself on the floor to avoid...crashing into anything else.
"Yuu-tan! Are you okay?" Cheka was there in seconds, little hands pressing against their face. "Your face is all hot... Ojitan! There's something wrong with Yuu-tan!! I think they're sick!" Their ears rang as Cheka yelled and they leaned their forehead against their arm.
They could practically hear the growl in Leona's voice as he answered, "What is it, I just got Grim to shut u- why does it stink of alcohol?"
"Al...cohol?" Yuu shot up immediately, stumbling over to the counter.
"Hey, slow down," They felt a warm hand on their shoulder, holding them still. "If you get hurt, 'm not taking responsibility, alright?"
Yuu blinked, trying to get the blurriness away from their eyes as they read the tag stuck on the other bottle:
This is the sparkling fruit liqueur I got for Kingscholar-kun as a treat since he is of age. Make sure not to drink it, Prefect, since it is quite strong~
Your most benevolent headmage,
Dire Crowley
"Shit."
There was a loud gasp from Cheka, "Yuu-tan said a bad word! Ojitan, they're sick...Yuu-tan's sick! " Cheka was now clinging onto their leg, which was doing absolutely nothing to help with their balance. They leaned against the counter before shoving the bottle into Leona's hands.
"I didn't...I didn't mean to-" Yuu pressed a hand to their head, wincing at the headache starting to form. Leona still held firm onto their shoulder, reading the note with disdain.
"Of course, you didn't mean to. No one's mad here, except maybe that birdbrain for sending students alcohol," Leona huffed, before turning towards the teary-eyed Cheka. "Hey, screech box, could you listen to me for a sec?"
"Are you gonna help Yuu-tan?" Cheka asked hopefully, climbing halfway up Leona's leg.
Leona held him in his arms for a second, "I'm gonna help the herbivore. You be a good kid and go upstairs, okay? Grim's waiting in the room, you can watch the rest of the lasers there while I take care of them."
Cheka's ears flattened at the instructions and Yuu felt...bad. They were the reason that Cheka was so distraught in the first place. So they leaned forward, hand reaching to pat the lion cub's head. His ears twitched receptively and he leaned closer to them, wrapping his little arms around their neck.
"Don't worry," They murmured. "I'll be okay."
"Can I get a goodnight kiss then?" Cheka's voice was muffled in their shoulder. "Just in case I fall asleep before you're feeling better." Yuu tilted their head. The request in itself wasn't strange, it was just...the first time that Cheka had asked them.
They found themself nodding, "O~kay." Cheka pulled back and Yuu pressed a light kiss to his forehead. They clumsily brushed at his hair, patting him once more, "Sleep well with Grim. Don't fight, okay?"
"Mmhmm," He scrambled back into Leona's arms. Leona, who was staring right at them.
"What?" Their tongue was starting to grow heavy. "You want one too?"
Leona shoved a hand to their cheek, "No. You sit down, I don't want to hear you crashing into shit while I'm gone, okay?" They hummed in reply, plopping down onto the floor. They gave Cheka a wave as Leona left.
So this was what being drunk felt like. It wasn't...unpleasant, but they did feel a little too floaty. They reached a hand out towards the cupboard only to wince when it collided a little too fast. And maybe it was better to lie down. The flat of the floor felt nice against their back, and maybe if they closed their eyes for just a second, the floaty feeling would go away...
They didnât know how long it was till they felt someone nudging them. They let their eyes drift open to see Leona, "Up. Now." There was a firm hand under their arms as they scrambled for something to hold. The transition from lying down to upright did nothing to the buzz in their brain.
"Wait, y-you're going too fast," They slurred out, squawking when they bumped right into Leona's chest.
"How low is your alcohol tolerance that you're this hammered?" Leona muttered, going just a little slower.
"I don't've a low tolera~nce," They tugged purposefully at Leona's hair. "I drank a who~le bottle of that sparkly stuff." Leona stared at them like they were crazy. Or was he even looking this way at all?
"You stay on the couch, don't fucking move," Leona commanded, and the softness of the cushioning made them sigh. They wouldn't ever want to move from this. Oh but, it was nice having Leona there to take care of them. They could just imagine the frowny face Leona was making, all while doing his best to accommodate them. Ah, they really, really did like him after all. The thought of it all made them giggle.
There was a press of something cold to their cheek, "What're you giggling for, herbivore? Here, drink this and eat this." They sat up, or attempted to before Leona was dragging them into a sitting position.
"You're not sleeping until you finish all that." They took a sip of the clear stuff, which was water, to their delight. It was cool, trailing down their throat so smoothly.
There were still lights flashing outside, and they turned their gaze towards the lights, "'S not done yet?"
"No," Leona sounded a lot farther than before, sitting all the way at the other end of the couch. "There's still ten minutes till the new year."
Ten minutes.
They looked back at Leona and hoped that they would make it past the ten minutes. Having Leona be the first thing they saw in the New Year...well that made their heart swell. And look, Leona looked so pretty under the darkness. And when the lights hit him, ah, he really was handsome, wasn't he? They swallowed another gulp of water. They belatedly hoped that they wouldn't say anything incriminating. WaitâŚwhat were they just talking about?
[ omake : give me one good honest kiss ]
Leona didn't know if he had the strength to deal with this. After wrangling the two kids, he had to deal with a drunk herbivore? The Great Seven really were not smiling upon him tonight. And he definitely wasnât letting that damned birdbrain off the hook. He was to blame for all this after all.
"Why're you so far away, anyway?" Leona watched as they leaned against the couch, taking a bite of the bread he gave them. "Blergh, this tastes like ashes."
"I'm not far away," Leona couldn't help but sound irritated, because really, he wasn't far away. He was close enough to reach for the glass in case they lost their grip on it. "And that's just plain bread, stop being dramatic."
The herbivore hummed in response, quietly staring at him again. The usually reserved and cunning Prefect, reduced to the starry-eyed person who offered him a goodnight's kiss.
Leona could feel the heat at the back of his neck as they continued to stare, "What're you staring at?"
"You," There was that damned smile again, the one that was never directed at him. "You're pre~tty. Or- do you prefer hand~some...?" Sevens, how was Leona supposed to last in these conditions?
"C'mon, finish up the water at least," Leona ignored the comment, reaching for the half-eaten bread.
But they moved their hand away, frowning, "Are you rejecting my compliment, Leona Kingscholar? I just called you pretty handsome. Usually, you'd be gloa~ting."
"I'm not going to gloat over a simple compliment," Leona caught their wrist, easing the bread from their grip and setting it on the plate he prepared. "Why are you being so difficult?"
"'M not," They gripped at his hand in return. "You're just being stu~pid." He really could not deal with this right now. He missed their normal self. He really took their normal self for granted, Leona thought sourly.
Leona glanced at his phone, "Okay, there's five minutes till New Year's. You're going to sleep in five minutes, alright?"
Yuu's frown deepened, "But I wanna stay here with you." And if that didn't make Leona's heart melt, he wouldn't know what did.
"You're here now," Leona ambled closer after figuring out they weren't letting go of his hand any time soon. "I'll take you upstairs after the New Year. Here, I'll turn on the radio so you know I'm not tricking you."
That seemed to satisfy them as they leaned back on the couch, eyes trained on the fanfare outside. The radio played in the background, the announcer talking aimlessly to fill in the time. Nothing could've prepared him for the question they would ask next.
"Have you ever had a New Year's kiss?"
Leona's mouth felt dry as he spoke next, "A...what?"
"New Year's ki~ss," They repeated, laughing lightly. "Don't tell me they don't have those here?"
"They...donât," Leona lied easily, and he didn't have an answer as to why he did. Ah, but if they did offer to kiss him, he should refuse. He would refuse. That was the only way to keep their relationship as it was, right?
"Really? So you've ne~ver kissed someone at New Year's before?" They were fully facing him now.
"No." Now that one was a truth.
The tradition existed here, but it was something special to be done between two who loved each other very much. A lot of the times they were married or engaged couples, or people who were...dating. And Leona wasn't interested in anyone that way. Or that was until the recent months.
"How many minutes?"
And Leona swallowed as the radio answered for him with a cheery, "We have a minute left, folks! Get ready with your party poppers!"
There was a hand on his shoulder and he fought not to flinch as they closed the distance. "No," Leona said in what he hoped was a stern tone. "I'm not kissing you."
They laughed again, face dangerously close this time, "You're so boring. C'mon~ It's my first New Years here~"
He pressed a hand over their mouth, hoping to deter them, "You're drunk."
"And you're Leona Kingscholar," They still managed to lean forward just a bit more. "Stop stating the obvious."
"You don't even like me," He shot out, not caring for the answer. He just pleaded that they would give up. The countdown started in the background, his own heartbeat mixing with the sound of numbers.
"I do like you," Their eyes curved, and he could feel them smile against his palm. "'S why weâre here together, right?"
"-wo! One! Happy New Year!"
There was a press of something soft against his palm before they flopped onto his stomach, "Still kissed you⌠Happy New...Year's..."
Leona didn't know how long he was frozen in place. All that he knew was that it was long enough for the post-New Year light show to finish and that by the time he finally moved, the herbivore was fast asleep.
He closed his palm, nursing the ghost of warmth left there. His first New Year's kiss. It wasn't, by all means, traditional. But it counted to Leona. He let out a low laugh, because of course it would be Yuu to steal his first New Year's kiss away from him. He watched the slow rise and fall of their shoulders as they were blissfully unaware of the turmoil that they caused.
"If you're gonna kiss me, do it properly next time," Leona's hand stroked their hair cautiously. "Specifically when you aren't drunk."
Now he knew for certain. He knew here was no denying how simply and utterly in love he was with them. It was so dumb of him to think that he could just ignore it all. How was he supposed to ignore them when he was the one who made a contract where they would have to be with him for weeks on end? That was an oversight on his part, but it wasnât like he couldâve predicted that he wouldâve fallen this hard. The evidence being how he still couldnât make his heart calm down even after the moment had passed so long ago.
He sighed as he pulled out his magic pen, casting a spell to make them float. He couldnât trust his knees to hold their weight after what he was just subjected to. Still, he held them close as he made his way up the stairs. The steady thud-thud-thud of their heartbeat helped him to finally calm down.
Finally, the cramped bed that they usually slept on came into view. The two kids were predictably cuddled up to each other under the blankets. It was a surprise that Grim didnât kick Cheka out. Then again, when did he start caring about things like that?
He gently placed them on the bed, his ears flattening as the bed squeaked. He made sure to tuck them in nicely. As he finished, they instinctively held on to his arm, mumbling incoherently as they drifted back asleep. Leona ever so carefully removed his arm, replacing it with the tangled mess of Grim and Cheka.
There was no way he would be able to lie down on the bed, so he grabbed a spare pillow before dragging himself back downstaira. The couch was surprisingly soft, and in no time, Leona felt himself drifting to sleep. And if he dreamed of them in his sleep, of New Yearâs kisses and promises and memories to be made⌠That was something that he would keep a secret, even if the dream would slowly slip through his fingers by the time he would wake.

"Cut! Beautiful work!" your director, John, rose from his seat and turned to you, "Miss Producer, what do you say? Can we pack up and finally see our families?"Â
"You know what, Johnny?" you surveyed the tired faces of the crew and smiled at them, "Let's go home."Â
Hats were thrown into the air and cheers erupted throughout your crew. Months of ungodly call times and extremely close encounters with the savannaâs more untamed residents have finally come to an end.
âBefore we go,â you stepped on top of a crate to address everyone, âIâd like to say a few words. Thank you to everyone who has been present throughout the past monthsâŚâ
Henry watched you from afar, leaning on one of the transport vehicles with his arms crossed. It wasnât a secret that the two of you had formed a relationship during your time there. Nights spent in each otherâs rooms, hands in your hair, clothes strewn on the floor, whispered conversations about dreams unrealised.
It was dangerous, how much he felt for you. Just seeing you now, commanding the room with the kind of charisma and charm only you had, a pang settled in his heart. But he couldnât dwell on it for long.
You squealed giddily and propelled yourself into Henry's strong arms. Never have you seen anyone look so ruggedly handsome in just a t-shirt and safari pants.
Your thumb caressed his stubbled cheek and pressed a tender kiss onto his lips, one that wasn't for the cameras.
They could write pages and pages of love songs based on the way he looked at you and that alone. You flourished underneath his loving gaze, feeling like you were walking on air.
"Go on and get dressed, darling. I've got one last surprise before we go home." he kissed you once more, winked, then returned to his trailer
Your cheeks were sufficiently flushed. Before we go home he said.Â
Did he mean it that way? Surely he didnât. It hadnât even crossed your mind how things would be like when you returned to America, was it so terrible that you were imagining houses with white picket fences?
Goodness, this was nothing like you. You straightened your blouse and marched over to your own trailer, trying to shake it off.
A few outfit deliberations later, you settled on a lovely pale blue palazzo jumpsuit, a matching headscarf, your signature white oval-framed sunglasses which you made popular, as far as you were concerned, and vibrant red lipstick.
You met Henry in a clearing not too far away from where you were staying.Â
"Well, well!" you marveled at the imposing aircraft in the middle of the field and you marveled even more intently at your handsome pilot,
"Just how did you manage this?"
He scooped you up in his arms and you decided that from then on, your favourite scent and view would be Henry in his leather aviator jacket.Â
"Darling, I figure I can manage just about anything just as long as it's for you."
âYou flatter me, Mr. Cavill.â
Henry stepped away from you, propped a foot up on the little lift and held a hand out for you to take, âShall we, gorgeous?â
âWe shall.â you took his hand and let him help you into your seat
âReady?â Henry asked from his seat behind you, rubbing your shoulder with a gloved hand
You placed your hand on his and shot a thumbs up in the air, enthusiastic as ever.
âThatâs my girl.â he chuckled, guiding the plane down the makeshift runway
Once safely in the air, you reveled in its warmth caressing your cheeks, the deafening roar of the engines downsized to a somewhat pleasant hum. Would it be inappropriate to shut your eyes for a bit? In an open plane a few hundred feet above ground?
âY/N, down there! How marvelous!â
The sound of Henryâs voice snapped you back to the present and when you opened your eyes, your breath hitched in your throat.
You supposed flying was something you would never get used to. The clear sky was a shade of blue you couldnât even begin to comprehend, the clouds were white and wispy and you longed to reach out your hand and feel them.
"Down there, Y/N!" Henry urged you again
Once you did as he said, you realised why.
Below you, racing across the vast, sun-drenched grass was a pack of lions. The joy you felt was indescribable, seeing these powerful creatures roaming free, untouched and undisturbed by human intervention.
"Incredible.â you breathed, looking back at HenryÂ
Once Henry had landed the plane, rather flawlessly, you'd say, a car was already waiting to bring you to the lodge where he had arranged for you to stay.
âI do admire an organised man.â you complimented breathily, batting your eyelashes at him for theatrics
âAlright, alright.â
His tone was dismissive but you were sure you could see the blush spreading on his cheeks. Henry bent down and swept you off your feet, carrying you bridal-style towards your ride.
"This is just glorious!" you took off your headscarf and shook your hair out as you waltzed around your suite
It was a stark contrast to the suites you usually took up residence in. Gone were the stuffy imitation French furniture and tacky wallpaper, in its place was rich, dark wood you were positive you wouldn't find anywhere else and a clean white canopy bed with cozy earthy neutral toned cushions, you thought everything was simply ethereal, but the cherry on top was undoubtedly the view from your balcony.
You stepped on, the gentle sunlight soaking into your bare feet and filling you with a kind of vigour and appetite for life completely different from the one you felt when you were doing your job. You surveyed the scenery ahead, rays of afternoon sunshine peeking through the tall branches of trees that resembled something from another world.
âBeautiful, isnât it?â Henryâs deep voice materialised in your ear, his hands resting on your hips
âAbsolutely.â you replied, twirling around to place your lips on his
Heat rose to your cheeks and further down south as your tongues met, quick and electric and delicious, then firmer, more determined. You broke away for a fraction of a second, taking it all in.
If there was anything your life has taught you thus far, it was the heavy handed importance of hard work and resilience, nothing else would get you very far. You didnât believe in luck.
But as you stood there surrounded by all the beauty nature had to offer, Henry cradling your face with nothing short of devotion and admiration in his eyes, it was hard not to change your mind.
âHenry?â
âYes?â
âI think I may be falling in love with you.â
He looked absolutely stunned and to be honest, you were as well. This was uncharted territory for you. The number of flirtations and affairs youâve had throughout your time in Tinseltown was much more than the tabloids could even guess but they were just that and nothing more.
But with Henry?
Before you could even anxiously retract what you had just said in fear of rejection, Henry pulled you towards him and pressed his lips firmly to yours. Somehow, everything he had failed to say was imbued in each searing kiss, each squeeze on your hips.
Nothing much was said for the rest of the day and well into the night.
The morning after, you found yourselves on a nature hike. Having heard from locals of a magnificent waterfall nearby. The pair of you trekked your way through the rocky crest of the waterfall, your finish line was a series of boulders, each one stacked by increasing height. You wanted to get to the biggest one, you were positive the view was spectacular from up there.Â
âDarling, are you sure youâd want to-â
âOh, donât be such a killjoy, Henry!â you yelled, slipping away from his grasp and vaulting over a rock
âBe careful, Y/N, Jesus!â he yelped, nearly losing his balance
Your laughter cascaded down with the rushing water. You ignored how your muscles were beginning to strain with the effort of climbing each boulder as carefully as you could but you got the job done, overlooking the glittering water below and the surrounding wildlife.
âGod, this place is beautiful.â you marveled just as Henry finally joined you at the top
âHow in Godâs name did you get up here so fast?â Henry panted, placing his hands on his knees in an effort to catch his breath
âWell, maybe all of those muscles are purely for decoration.â you commented, unashamedly appreciating his physique as he glistened with sweat
He arched his brow at you, seemingly perfecting your trademark move. âOh, is that so?â
You squealed as he hoisted you into his arms, then in a display of strength, lifted you over his shoulder.
âPurely for decoration, eh?â he laughed, descending from the boulder with you still draped over his shoulder
"Put me down this instant!" you chortled, all arms and legs as he waded deeper into the warm water
"Sorry, what was that? I can't hear you."Â
"I said, put me down!" you firmly clamped your teeth down on a portion of his back
"Ow! Okay, okay. Hold on."
Henry set you down in the water gently, keeping his hand on your hips, looking at you mirthfully.
"Madame Y/L/N," he tutted, shaking his head, "Did you just bite me? Not very ladylike one would say."Â
"Oh, boo hoo." you stuck your tongue out at him
âGetting cheeky are we?â Henry lunged at you, causing water to splash everywhere
You dodged just in time, appearing behind him and lifting yourself onto his back. He secured your legs and began to run as fast as the water would let him.
âRide, my noble steed! Ride!â you yelled into the wind
There was nothing on the face of this earth that could ever make you feel as you did in that moment ever again, you were sure of it. At that moment, you were the happiest you have ever been in your entire life. That feeling would never be replicated.
You swam and horsed around for as long as your muscles would let you, when they finally ached too much, you found yourselves on the tallest boulder again. The sun had just begun to dip into the horizon, setting the sky ablaze in a million different colours.
No words could even begin to do justice to the miracle before you. Henry held you tighter in his arms and pressed an earnest kiss to your temple, you felt his shoulders fall as he let out a heavy sigh.
âWhatâs going on in that head of yours?â you asked, turning around to face him
The perfect happiness you felt just seconds before evaporated as you set eyes on his crestfallen expression. You lifted his chin up with a finger and offered him an encouraging smile, âWhatâs the matter, my love?â
He had no answer for you at first, turning away to gaze pensively at the sunset. All you could do was admire the way the shadows highlighted his strong jawline, you traced over it with your finger.
âY/N,â Henry began, âOur time here together, itâs been the greatest of my life,â
Oh, thank God. You thought it was going to be something horrible!
âI feel the exact same way, Henry. Itâs been heaven.â you reached forward and hugged him with all you had
You expected him to hug you back as he always does, but this time, he detached your arms from him, Thatâs when you had the sinking feeling that your relief may have been a bit premature.
âPlease. I must tell you something. And as I say this, I beg of you to remember how happy we were here, how much we understand each other and enjoy one anotherâs company.â
Despite the fact that this was the most serious you have ever seen him, you still didnât catch on to the fact that something was about to go very wrong.
"Now, come on, darling!â you chirped, âIt can't be that bad! We can manage anything as long as we're together, can't we?" you stared into his eyes for any hint of reciprocation
When you found none, your heart began to pound against your chest. The silence that followed was unbearable, it was like waiting for your turn at the gallows but when he finally said what he wanted to say, you might have actually preferred the silence.
"I'm engaged to be married. And she is pregnant. With my child."
His words felt like a bucket of ice poured over your bare skin. You shot up and stared at him in utter disbelief.Â
âIf this is your idea of a jokeâŚâ your feeble attempt at denial was met with a shake of his head
He had the audacity to look ashamed. Ashamed! The nerve.
This certainly was not your first brush with a situation like this. It was foolish of you to have thought of this dalliance as different from all the other ones. Men were all the same. It didnât matter how longingly they looked at you or how many godforsaken times they brushed your hair tenderly from your face, they all wanted the same thing.
Jesus, was it always so damn cold here?
You wrapped your arms tightly around yourself, feeling much too exposed in your bathing suit. Henry stood up and made a move to put his arms around you.
âIâm alright, thank you.â you said curtly, stepping away from him
His arms fell to his sides in an instant and he looked to you pleadingly, âY/N, please. I never meant to hurt you, it is the last thing I wanted. It isnât what you think.â
âI think!â you interjected, your voice becoming shrill as the usual string of overused lines flowed from his heavenly mouth. âI think you are quite the actor, Mr. Cavill and it has been a pleasure to see your methods up close.â
With that, you climbed down the rocks as fast as you could without hurting yourself and took off in the direction of your lodge. You ignored Henry calling out your name, you ignored the rough tree branches leaving scratches on your arms, and most of all, you ignored how the illusion of you and Henry shattered into a million pieces.

How to Choose the Perfect Animal Wallpaper for Your Home
Animal wallpaper is an exciting and dynamic way to infuse life into any space. Whether you want to bring the grace of a horse, the serenity of a fish, or the playful nature of a dog into your home, animal-themed wallpaper provides a unique opportunity to express your personality through your walls. But with so many styles, species, and designs to choose from, selecting the perfect animal wallpaper can feel overwhelming. This guide will help you navigate the options, ensuring you make the best decision for your space.
Understanding Your Space
Before diving into specific animal designs, itâs important to consider the space you're working with. Animal wallpaper, while vibrant and creative, works best when it complements the overall theme and purpose of the room.
Living Room: This space often serves as a gathering area, and wallpaper can set a tone of elegance, cosiness, or even adventure. For a living room, consider a large-scale animal wall mural or an exotic safari wall mural that draws the eye and invites conversation.
Bedroom: In more personal spaces, you may want a calming or comforting design. Panda wallpaper or fish wallpaper could create a serene environment, ideal for relaxation.
Childrenâs Rooms: Fun and playful designs like jungle animal wallpaper or whimsical dogs wallpaper can create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Office or Study: If you're aiming for a sophisticated, elegant vibe, a sleek and understated design like horse wallpaper may be a perfect choice.
The roomâs function will guide you in choosing between bold murals, detailed prints, or more subtle, minimalistic designs.
Choosing the Right Animal Theme
With a range of animals to choose from, itâs important to select a theme that resonates with you and fits the atmosphere youâre trying to create. Hereâs a breakdown of popular animal themes and their design impacts:
Horse Wallpaper: Horses symbolize strength, freedom, and elegance. Horse-themed wallpapers are excellent for those who want a sophisticated yet dynamic look. They can bring a sense of movement and grace into a living room or office.
Fish Wallpaper: Ideal for bathrooms or spaces meant for relaxation, fish wallpapers evoke tranquillity and fluidity. The aquatic theme can provide a refreshing, peaceful ambience, perfect for creating a calm, stress-free environment.
Dogs Wallpaper: Dogs symbolize loyalty, playfulness, and warmth. For those who want to bring a sense of fun and liveliness into their home, dog wallpaper is a great choice for a childâs bedroom, a pet-friendly living room, or a cosy playroom.
Panda Wallpaper: Pandas are loved for their adorable, gentle nature, making panda wallpaper a great option for a nursery or childâs room. The black and white colour palette also offers flexibility, as it can be matched with a variety of colour schemes.
Jungle Animal Wallpaper: For those with a love of adventure or the exotic, jungle animal wallpaper brings the essence of a tropical rainforest to your walls. Featuring creatures like monkeys, parrots, and leopards, this theme adds depth and excitement to any space.
Safari Wall Mural: If you want to make a bold statement, a safari wall mural featuring animals like elephants, lions, and giraffes can transform a room into an open savanna. Perfect for large spaces, these murals offer a sense of grandeur and wilderness.
Tiger Peel and Stick Wallpaper: For those who want something temporary yet fierce, tiger peel and stick wallpaper is a fantastic choice. Tigers symbolize power and strength, and their majestic presence on your walls can make a bold impression in any room. The peel-and-stick feature allows for easy application and removal, making it an ideal choice for renters or those who like to change up their decor frequently.
Exploring Mural Options
If youâre looking for something more dramatic and immersive, animal wall murals are a fantastic choice. Wall murals typically cover large spaces and often depict animals in their natural habitats, providing depth and a sense of realism to the room.
Animal Wall Mural: These murals often feature larger-than-life depictions of various animals, from soaring birds to prowling predators. The immersive quality of murals makes them a great option for larger spaces where you want to create a striking focal point.
Safari Wall Mural: A specific subset of animal wall murals, safari murals can transport you to the wild African plains, showcasing a variety of animals in a majestic, expansive landscape. The detailed imagery of lions, zebras, and elephants can make the space feel vast and awe-inspiring.
Peel-and-Stick vs. Traditional Wallpaper
When choosing your animal wallpaper, youâll also need to decide whether you want traditional wallpaper or the more modern peel-and-stick option.
Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper: If you love flexibility or are renting your space, peel-and-stick wallpaper is a great choice. This type of wallpaper is easy to apply and remove, allowing you to change up your design with minimal hassle. Tiger peel-and-stick wallpaper, for example, offers the boldness of a powerful design without the commitment.
Traditional Wallpaper: For a more permanent and seamless look, traditional wallpaper is ideal. It often has a more luxurious feel and tends to last longer than peel-and-stick alternatives. If youâre looking for something timeless, such as horse wallpaper or a safari wall mural, traditional wallpaper is a solid option.
Consider the Color Palette
When selecting animal wallpaper, itâs essential to consider the colours in your design. Are you looking for something bold and vibrant, or do you prefer softer, more neutral tones? Animal designs vary greatly in colour, so think about how the wallpaperâs palette will fit with your furniture and decor.
For instance:
Fish wallpaper often comes in soothing blues and greens, perfect for creating a calm, cool space.
Tiger peel-and-stick wallpaper might feature vibrant oranges and blacks, creating a more energetic and dramatic effect.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the perfect animal wallpaper for your home comes down to balancing the theme, space, and style. Whether you want to create a peaceful retreat with fish wallpaper, a playful environment with dog wallpaper, or an adventurous backdrop with a safari wall mural, there are countless options to explore.
Take the time to envision how the wallpaper will enhance your room, and donât be afraid to take bold steps with larger murals or statement pieces. Animal wallpapers can transform a room, making it not only visually appealing but also a reflection of your personality and style.

Cricket Coach
(Redirected from International Cricket Captain 2009)
Cricket Captain, formerly International Cricket Captain, is a series of cricket management video games by Empire Interactive, and by Childish Things since International Cricket Captain 2009, before which Empire went into administration. It rose to popularity in 1998, following the release of the first PC-based game in the series. The most recent version of the game is Cricket Captain 2020.
The concept for International Cricket Captain was the idea of Chris Child, who programmed the original game engine as a university project. Empire producer Brian Walker produced and co-designed the game in which the player takes control of an English County Cricket squad with the aim of leading them to success in the domestic competition and ultimately being asked to take up the position of England manager. There is also an added option in later games in the ICC series to take control of one of the other Test playing nations.
Taking inspiration from the hugely successful Championship Manager series of games which were also produced by Brian Walker, most aspects of a management sim are present in ICC, with the ability to coach players on their individual skills, scout opposition and buy and sell players at the end of each season. There are also comprehensive statistics available in the form of career stats pages for each player and team. Graphs and charts help the gamer to select the strongest team possible against particular opposition.[1]
Transition to console[edit]

With the incredibly exciting 2019 World Cup and the fiercely fought Australia tour of England, a legion of fans have been attracted to the sport. International Cricket Captain is back in 2007 with a brand new edition to take the game to a whole new generation of gamers. This truly is the game for cricket fans, where you can test your skills. Although mainly a PC based series, there have been console cross-overs, most notably for ICC 2001 which appeared on the PlayStation. However the PS version was limited in features compared to its PC cousin and as a result was not very successful. Aside from the lack of on-line play capability, gamers noted that the transition to the console meant for longer loading periods and a slightly more tedious controller-based interface.[2]

ICC III was released on 6 July 2007 including a new algorithmic method of calculating player performances and a 3D match engine with motion captured shots. These changes are arguably a result of the competition that International Cricket Captain now faces from the popular Cricket Coach series, developed by Rockingham Software. The new engine replaces the original graphic highlights which were retained for each of the previous versions of the game, save minor cosmetic tweaks.

Criticism[edit]
Over recent years, a common criticism from games reviewers[3] is of the perceived lack of progress in terms of the game's functionality, with the obvious change between versions tending to be limited to updated players and statistics.

International Cricket Captain[edit]
The player is able to take control of the English County side of their choice from the 1998 Season with the aim of becoming accomplished enough to captain the English national side.
The player must guide their chosen County Championship side through an English cricket season, playing English county cricket as well as regular first class matches. During close season, contract negotiations take place in which players are transferred between clubs or retire from the game altogether. There is also a pool of overseas players (from which the player can sign only one, in line with the regulations of the time).
The player receives a new points total each season based on their performance. If they have accrued enough points they are invited to coach the England team. This involves selecting a squad from the extensive pool of English county players and managing them in One Day International and Test Matches, including an annual winter tour. The game continues for twenty seasons until 2018, at which point the player is forced into retirement and the game ends.
Australian Cricket Captain[edit]
Australian Cricket Captain, featuring Australian State teams and competitions, was released to the Australasian market in 1999.[4] The game is almost identical to the original release in terms of gameplay aside from a revamp of the contracting system and minor cosmetic tweaks. There is also a commentary by former Australian captain Ian Chappell.
