Draco was more nervous than she could remember being. They weren't making an event out of the day itself like she'd heard people did.. but today also marked the beginning of the six or eight weeks they planned on spending together. Before her mind could get the better of her like it so often did during this time of year, she heard Luna humming to herself from across the kitchen. The curly-haired woman was a sight to behold: skin glistening from a light sheen of sweat as she continued working the dough for the pies she was adamant on making entirely from scratch and flour splashed over the ends of her hair. The sight combined with the gentle warmth of affection that filled her at the domesticity of it all caused a smile to spread on Draco's face. She set the vegetables down and walked up behind her, wrapping her arms around Luna's waist and smiling wider as she pressed a kiss to the side of her neck, "you sure you don't want me to try and help with that?" there was a hint of teasing in her tone but her arms only tightened around Luna as she tilted her head enough to look at her.

✧˚ · .   it had been a long time since beck had seen that ship on the horizon. she stood on the deck of her own, leaning over the railing. her crew was ashore, reveling in the abundance of the port city they were docked in for the weekend, and beck could hear their joyous laughter and jeering from her perch. the stoic captain, she’d become a bit of a recluse lately whenever they docked. nothing ashore seemed worth her attention these days. but that ship, flying the colors beck had come to associate with dangerous feelings and overwhelming desire – seeing that ship arriving to port after so long made beck’s heart jump treacherously. it was torturous to wait for it to pull into port, her impatience always the one to get the better of her, but she stayed rooted to her spot at the railing all the while.

A wave of relief washed over her at Luna’s words. Robin was very much not okay and they both knew it. Avoidance seemed like the best option to her right now and the temporary fix of doing something to forget was exactly what she was looking for. They wouldn’t talk about the black eye the she’d poorly tried to conceal with some cheap foundation that wasn’t even in the right skin tone. At least for now. It was a brief reprieve but that was all she needed. Long enough to get the nerve to have that discussion. 

“Yeah. Want to bike out to Lovers Lake?” She instantly suggested. Her ribs were in worse shape than her eye but Luna didn’t need to know that. Robin had biked through much worse injuries. “We could go swimming and then lay on the dock and look at the stars.” It wasn’t a weekend so they could at least be guaranteed some privacy. Anyone that was out there would be parked in cars making out and not at all concerned with them. Maybe they could even make out somewhere other than the bedroom if Robin actually got the nerve.

she smiled warmly. it always made her happy when luna took interest in her work because it meant she could feel a little less guilty for spending so much time on it. scooting herself closer to luna's form, she pulled her arm underneath her to lean on so she could reach with the other hand to run her fingers lightly through the other's hair. "while i'd love to stay here all day, air does sound nice." julia's stomach did a little flip as her eyes roamed luna's face. "plus i can tell you a little about my ideas for the place."

So much had changed so quickly-- one minute she was locked away for a crime her parents committed, the next she was on Earth which they had long since assumed dead and fighting a war she was too young to be a leader for. In a blink that was over too and she was alone again, everyone she loved was in space or dead. . . But out of that pain, she got Madi and through her she also connected with the one woman she thought she might never be able to forgive. Yet-- time had changed all of that, time gave them a common goal, make a safe home for Madi, one that had no room for old grudges.  Over time it got easier, they got use to one another, Luna wasn’t the monster of the story anymore then she was, and Clarke understood that now. It hit her one night when Luna was telling Madi the story for her people, the peace they knew before the war, the peace they almost knew now. This was their second chance, the one that neither of their people offered them before.  So here they were now, Clarke sitting on a sun soaked hill, a sketch book in hand, casually drawing the familiar sharp cheekbones she knew all too well not, while Luna taught their now daughter how to fish, and it hit the blonde, this was what it was like to be happy. She couldn’t make herself think to ohard on it though, so un use to getting anything good, instead she closed her book and made her way to where the others were “any luck?” Greeting both differently, she kissed Madi’s head before squeezing Luna’s hand.

The slight chill in the breeze, cooling the still-wet tips of her hair, made her shiver for a moment, glad they were almost to the restaurant, her growing hunger making her eyes and mind definitely bigger than her stomach but she'd have Corey and Juneau there to help her out.

There was a slight possibility Draco picked her outfit for their date -- Merlin fucking help her -- with Luna’s comment in mind. It was said so softly, almost like Luna hadn’t meant to voice the compliment aloud, that Draco almost missed it. She didn’t comment on it that night but the fact that Draco spent hours going through her wardrobe until she found an outfit that would hopefully let Luna know she was listening... well, that was enough for anyone who knew Draco to learn just how fucked she was. Pansy commented on it which earned her a hex and an early end to their night. Draco knew she was fucked, she knew it before they even left Hogwarts.. she was simply battling it too much then. Not anymore. But that didn’t mean she wanted to listen to Pansy tease her about these feelings. Draco was still working on accepting them and she did not need any voices (no matter how well-meaning or light they were meant to be) adding to that. 

Fingers adjusted the thin gold chain, centering the tiny but detailed snake pendant. It would look like nothing more than her making herself presentable but she was nervous. She had half a mind to apparate back home and change into the velvet burgundy dress that was one of her favorites. Before she could try to do just that, she heard Luna’s front door open. Fuck. Draco’s shoulders rolled a bit, straightening herself out, before lifting her gaze up to meet Luna’s eyes; there was a small smile on her face but she felt too raw.. too exposed to even attempt to voice a greeting at this time.

✧˚ · . captain beck maddox was a lot of things – prideful, lethal, dangerous. one thing she was not, would never be, was a sap. feelings had no place in her line of work. if her crew found out she was even the slightest bit fond of someone, they would descend on them both like rabid dogs, let alone if they knew she fancied someone as much as she did luna. not that luna couldn’t defend herself, beck was all too aware. but – no. this couldn’t be happening right now. beck swallowed the lump in her throat from the way luna was looking at her, swallowed all the bubbling, disgusting tenderness that came with it.
