This beautiful couple.
Reading Yatagarasu anime character designer’s woes concerning the hurdles the team encountered is an eye-opener.
The original key animation and direction for this episode didn't work out well, so I later corrected it. There was quite a bit of chaos on-site, as the initial retake wasn’t fixed until the very end. I think the contrast between Koume’s expression of anger towards her father and Yukiya's dismay is well depicted in the artwork. The scene where Yukiya visits Shoyoguu again mirrors the scene from episode 2 when he first came to Wakamiya. Hamayū playing the role of Wakamiya, I was extremely anxious about whether it would convincingly look like Hamayū, considering the different hairstyle and clothing. Thanks to (Hiroki) Nanami's performance, Hamayū was effectively portrayed.
I am truly grateful, it was a great help. I was originally not good at drawing Hamayu and had avoided it, but this time I tackled it with determination. I revised all the visible faces, but my skills were not adequate, and my drawing style ended up being quite pronounced. The scene with the wisteria arrows surprised me. It featured an effect not seen before, reaffirming that it is indeed a fantasy work.
The depiction of plants growing was truly amazing, and I thought it was like Studio Ghibli. The final gathering at Shoyoguu was supervised by Murao-san. The scenes with Michika and Nagatsuka are heavily detailed, conveying a sense of tension. It was challenging to adjust Michika’s sword tip to fit well in the drawing near Wakamiya's throat.

Seasons as Hindu Deities in the Lalitopakhyana (Lalita Mahatmya)
This is probably the only mention of other seasons than spring (Vasanta) personified as deities. They are the guardian deities of the seven chambers of Tripura in Srinagara.
The seven seasons are as follows:
1. Vasanta (spring): He is the guard of Kalpakavati, and the favorite servant of Goddess Lalita.
He sits on a flowery throne, his skin reddened due to intoxication by the liquor extracted from the nectar of flowers, which are also his weapons and ornaments (obviously). He also has a flowery umbrella for himself!
Madhushri and Madhavashri are his wives, who are also intoxicated through the spirituous liquor extracted from flowers. They are very desirous of the god of love having flowers for his arrows.
2. Grishma (summer): The guardian deity of Santavatika, and another servant of Lalita. He is depicted to have fiery eyes.
His wives are Sukrashri and Sucishri.
3. Varsha (monsoon): Guard of Harichandanavati. He has been described physically in details.
Lightning streaks are his tawny eyes. He is highly resonant with thunderbolt and so is his boisterous laughter. He has the haughty clouds for his vehicle (Cloudmobile?), and is covered with clouds like coats of mail. He holds a jewel-bedecked bow, and is absorbed in worshipping Lalita.
His wives are as follows - Nabhashri, Nabhasyashri, Svarasaa, Svara-(N. Sasya)-Malini, Amba, Dula, Nirali (N. Sarasaa), Abhrayani, Meghayantrika, Varshayanti, Chibunika and Varidhara. They shower rain, and have eyes reddened due to intoxication.
Varsha worships Lalita with clusters of flowers raised by himself (dedication, love it). He repeats her names, and adorns her devotees by means of his wealth (rains down on em basically), but also torments her enemies with drought.
4. Sharad (autumn): Protector of the grove of Mandara trees. He just described to be "splendidly glorious, and delights the mind of the world", whatever that means.
Ishashri and Urjashri are his beloveds. The gather water and with clusters of flowers raised by himself (lining with his rain bro i see), he worships the consort of Kameshwar.
5. Hemanta (early winter): He is the guard of Parijata. His body is as cool as snow (which subdues even fire), but his face is "always delightful" (aww). He is also the favorite servant of Lalita, and offers flowers to her raised by himself (three in a row!).
Sahashri and Sahasyashri are his wives.
6. Shishir (winter): He is the guard of the Kadamba tree groves. He is basically cool asf (both literally and figuratively), and so is the chamber he guards. Consider him the snow king, and he worships Lalita ofc.
Tapahshri and Tapasyashri are his consorts.
They all have chakras, but the key chakra is the Vasantachakra, which I'll elaborate on a separate post.

The Cast
Sasya will embody the role of Cinderella with grace and charm, while Gabriel will captivate the audience as Prince Charming. Kairi will portray the wicked Lady Tremaine with a perfect balance of malice and sophistication, and Elle will shine as the comically inept Drizella. Adric will bring depth to the character of Anastasia, and Louise will command attention as the regal King.
Act I, Scene I
In a distant land, there resided a young girl named Sasya who possessed a kind and gentle heart, yet faced a life filled with hardship and sadness. Despite being mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, who lived a life of luxury while she toiled away at household chores, Sasya never lost hope and held onto dreams of a brighter future.
“Sasya, would you not be glad to go to the ball?"
"Young ladies," she said, "you only jeer at me; it is not for such as I am to go there."
"You are right," Kairi, Elle and Adric replied; "people would laugh to see a Cinderwench at a ball."
Anyone but Sasya would have dressed their hair awry, but she was good-natured, and arranged it perfectly well. They were almost two days without eating, so much were they transported with joy. They broke above a dozen laces in trying to lace themselves tight, that they might have a fine, slender shape, and they were continually at their looking-glass.
At last the happy day came; they went to Court, and Sasya followed them with her eyes as long as she could, and when she had lost sight of them, she fell a-crying.
Her godmother, who saw her all in tears, asked her what was the matter.
"I wish I could--I wish I could--" but she could not finish for sobbing.
Her godmother, who was a fairy, said to her, "You wish you could go to the ball; is it not so?"
"Alas, yes," said Sasya, sighing.
"Well," said her godmother, "be but a good girl, and I will see that you go." Then she took her into her chamber, and said to her, "Run into the garden, and bring me a pumpkin."
At the ball, Sasya captivated all with her elegance and beauty, catching the eye of the prince who was enchanted by her presence. They danced the night away, but as the clock struck midnight, Sasya remembered her fairy godmother's warning and hurriedly departed, leaving behind a glass slipper. Determined to find his mysterious love, the prince scoured the kingdom for the girl whose foot fit the slipper.
Eventually, the prince {Gabriel} arrived at Sasya’s home, where her stepsisters {Elle and Adric} attempted to force their feet into the glass slipper to no avail. It was Sasya who finally tried on the slipper, fitting it perfectly. Delighted, the prince recognized her as the enchanting girl from the ball. Sasya's stepmother {Kairi} and stepsisters {Elle and Adric} were left stunned as she was whisked away to the palace, where she wed the prince and lived happily ever after.

Among the four princesses, Shiratama probably had the most story. I heard from the director that the blue in Masuho's kimono represents her thoughts of Hamayu. (Those girls!) Shimizu's portrayal of Masuho is sharp and cool, showing her strong convictions well.
Interesting account of events during the process of making Episode 12. Takumo Norita regaled us once again what happened behind the scenes.
When I was working on episode 12, I often listened to Miki Nakatani's "Chronic Love." Knowing that the next episode would be the last of the series, I felt a bit sentimental thinking about the characters I wouldn't be drawing anymore. I feel sorry for the characters I couldn't draw well or those that didn't make it to the chief animation director for corrections.
It seems that the key animation director wasn't functioning well, making it difficult to fix things later. The key animation director had redrawn the submitted key frames in their own style, ignoring the layout director and chief animation director, which resulted in something completely different, and we had to make a significant number of corrections afterward.
In this episode, Shiratama's emotional range is quite large, from having a lifeless expression to becoming happy. When creating the settings, I imagined the time when she arrived at Ouka Palace, so I was drawing while exploring how Shiratama, who had returned to her original self after reuniting with Kazumi, would be.
Personally, I think I managed to draw Kikuno's expression well as she watched the haircutting scene.
Wakamiya is trying to portray a colder expression than usual, but it doesn't seem much different from his usual expressionless face. I really feel how much I'm helped by the voice acting in these nuances. The voice actors are truly amazing. Asebi appears unchanged from when she first came to Oukamiya. I think it's a good direction that Asebi looks unsettling because of the reactions of those around her to her unchanging nature. The face of Asebi looking up at Wakamiya at the end shows more of her teeth and has a larger shadow area than usual, so personally, I think it looks slightly distorted.
Even the director ships Masuho and Hamayū. He’s reading between the lines. I like it.

"hampir semua orang yang kenal sama aku bilang begitu buk. hampir semuanya"
kayanya memang kejadian akhir akhir ini membuatku terlihat senang, apalagi dengan bertemunya aku dan mas. kali ini bukan mas alip yang menjadi mas kandungku yaaa, bukan. udah bosen kali ah mas alip mulu yang diceritain.
kemarin, aku ketemu sahabatku yang hampir setengah tahun ga ketemu dan ga cerita. kami mengerjakan tugas sambil cerita soal life update. sasya yang cerita soal pacar, keluarga, dan masalah di dirinya, shera yang cerita habis dighosting, dan aku cerita tentang mas yang paling aku cintai itu.
"anjir mutia sekarang bucin banget" sasya hampir teriak waktu lihat case handphone ku yang kuselipkan fotoku dan mas.
"ga pernah kan kamu liat aku kaya gini? aduh bucin banget aku sekarang cug. liat mas tuh kaya liat gimana cara bapak ngetreat aku dan gimana cara mas alip menjelaskan sesuatu. dia sepinter itu, tapi ga bikin aku ngerasa bego"
"tapi aku seneng tau mut liat kamu yang sekarang. kamu sekarang jadi 'mutia' yang 'mutia banget' "
"emang selama ini aku bukan mutia banget?'
"kamu yang sekarang tuh balik jadi mutia kaya jaman S1. yang happy, ceria, ramah, ga cuek. tapi mulai semester akhir akhir dan sampe kemarin tuh kamu jadi kaya cuek gitu. aku mikirnya 'oh, mutia udah berubah' mungkin kamu mulai berubah waktu udh kenal banyak cowo apalagi cerita cowomu yang bangsat bangsat itu. jadi mati rasa kali ya makanya cuek, terus aku lihat kamu yang sekarang tuh kek seneng banget. beneran balik jadi mutia jaman S1"
dan itu baru sasya yang ngomong. temen temen lainpun bilang aku jadi sumringah dan semangat buat masuk koas. aku masih berpegang pada prinsipku, tidak menggantungkan kebahagiaan atau mengharapkan kebahagiaan ke orang lain. tapi dengan adanya mas sekarang, dia bener bener menambah kebahagiaanku yang lain yang belum bisa aku ciptakan sendiri. mas membantu menciptakan kebahagiaan versi level up.
