There's something lurking in the water (SNSMonth24 prompts - week 1)

Hiiiii late to the party as usual, but I have been participating in this year's @snsmonth24. This time, I've paired each official prompt with a monster and "spooktober" prompt just to spice them up and 'tis the season. Here are the week 1 story summaries. As always, full fics can be read here on my AO3 😊

1 - Sun and Moon | Murder investigation

The palm on her left-hand stings, and she digs her nails into the small circular ring forever burned into her skin. A silent fuck off to Sasuke who'd become nosier than ever since they started their investigation into this string of serial murders. She used to rely on the fact that she could feel his emotions through their connection, that Sasuke the unreachable finally was. Now she understands why he used to get so pissed off about the lack of privacy.

(While investigating a brutal serial murder, Sasuke silently comforts a disturbed Naruto.)

2 - Beach | Siren AU Murderous mermaids (Siren!AU)

"Hey. Naruto, right?"

She nodded slowly, not quite sure if this was a dream. His smile only grew wider, revealing his long, sharp teeth.

"Cool. Now, we're even."

He'd pushed himself off the shore with ease, jumping back into the water and swam away.

(Naruto had always been drawn to the oceans surrounding Uzushio, but she never imagined that the mythical tales of monsters swirling beneath the surface could ever be real.)

3 - A happy ending | Murderous mermaids (Siren!AU)

“No.”

“Sasuke, please. There must be some truth to—”

“—I’d have to kill you, Naruto,” he eventually blurted out, fingers wrapped around her throat as he lividly barred down over her. “I’d have to kill you. And there would be no guarantee that it would work. The last story of a human being turned is over two centuries old, and that’s assuming it’s real.”

4 - On a date | Halloween Party

"I'm not going to apologize for how good my ass looks in those shorts, and it's your fault for agreeing to go to a business meeting with your father outside of town during the Halloween weekend where you know Ino's house party is always the biggest, baddest event everyone goes to."

If Sasuke could breath fire right now, he would.

5 - Canon divergence | Demon sacrifice

She just—she never thought she'd use it at all let alone this young. She'd never expected Sasuke to switch sides months ago. She never thought their rotten friendship would blossom through the layers of thorns into something more. She tried to swallow away her regret.

(In which Naruto activates the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.)

6 - Travelling together | Hunting a cryptid

"We are not going to get jumped by strange mythical creatures in the forest. The worst thing that can get us, is a coyote or a bear."

"You saw the statue of his metal ass. You don't know what he's capable of."

"Are you afraid of sleeping in the woods, Naruto?" Sasuke sneered, briefly glancing at her before his eyes returned to the winding road ahead. "Or are you too chicken shit to admit that maybe this hot idea Kiba had was actually stupid?"

(While camping with their friends, Sasuke and Naruto encounter something mischievous lurking in the woods.)

7 - Jealousy (Monstrous enough)

Honestly, her suitors were lucky she was mostly oblivious to someone paying attention to her in a romantic or flirtatious way. It made it easier for him, that he didn’t need to rip out someone’s spine through their throat with his bare hands or scrub their eye sockets clean with kunai when she’d punch people out first or a simple icy glare would be enough to cause a recoil.

He never imagined however, that his undoing would be that stupid fucking pillow she bought.

(The only monstrous thing about this one, is Sasuke's hilariously monstrous jealousy.)
