SasuSaku Month Day 7: One of These Nights
Title: Sasuke and Sakura’s Night Out! // Rating: M (drugs, language) // Summary: Sakura and Sakura don’t get out much, but just one night is enough to make up for a lifetime of staying in. Very much inspired by my love for both the movie booksmart and those memes where it’s like aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you want to just go absolutely fucking feral? Yeah, nerd SasuSaku going feral basically // ao3 link
A/N: something to make up for yesterday’s angst, this was a ton of fun to write!! Also why do i keep writing things i dont know about?? Idk anything about the good old mary jane or drugs in general lol but just go with it this isn’t really supposed to make sense Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto, Booksmart, or anything mentioned in this story. I’m just a wee speck of dust in the universe
----
“One of these nights we should do something actually fun.”
“Since when did watching movies with me stop being fun? Did you want a snack or something? I saw that post you tagged me in this morning, I guess we can build a blanket fort on the trampoline, but you can’t complain about it being cold.”
Sakura sat up from where she was lounging on Sasuke’s bed, staring at the wall. “Now that you mention it, I could go for some boba. Or an edible.”
Sasuke, sitting in his bean bag, stared at Sakura in disbelief, “do you even know what’s in those?”
Sakura straightened up even more and looked down haughtily, “of course I do. Naruto told me a long time ago. And doesn’t a brownie sound so good right now?”
“Sakura, you got drunk off a few sips of your Aunt Tsunade’s rice wine and you’re telling me you want to get high? We’re about to go to college and you want to fry your brain?”
“We’re about to go to college and we’ve never done anything. Do you know how lame that is?”
Sasuke seemed to contemplate Sakura’s words for a moment before giving her a wolfish grin, sounding every bit the teenage boy he was, “that’s not true. We’ve done stuff. We’ve had sex. Lots of it.”
One of Sasuke’s pillows sailed across the room towards his face, accompanied by a screech, “I knew it, I knew you’d say something dumb! What does it matter when you’re already a stupid boy with no brain. Those ads are totally false, by the way. What’s the harm in trying weed, Sasuke? I wanna try, so you should do it with me.”
Despite being the captain of the speech and debate team, he couldn’t find anything to argue about. He texted Naruto; at least he could trust their “plug” or whatever he’s called by half the school.
Except, they actually couldn’t because he was somehow all out and directed them to Kiba instead.
“Seriously? We’ve known Naruto, like, forever? And he lets us down now? Kiba is smelly and weird. His weed probably...smells like weed.”
Sakura doesn’t let up, “just text Kiba, he’s not that bad. Don’t be lame.”
“What should I even say? Leaf emoji? Side eye emoji? Plug emoji? Is he going to give us a friends and family discount?”
“Sasuke, I know you love using color coordinated spreadsheets to organize your life, but now is not the time. Mention my name. Maybe he’ll give us a hot girl discount.”
“I just sent him ‘weed’ with a question mark. Oh, he already responded. He said come over right now and he’ll ‘give us the hook up.’ Sakura, does that mean he wants us to have a threesome with us?” Sasuke asked with false, exaggerated concern.
That earned Sasuke another pillow thrown at his face (this time it’s his favorite dinosaur plushie) before Sakura gets to her feet and announces with a rather dramatic clenched fist, “get in the car, we’re going to Kiba’s.”
----
“Yooo, Sasuke! Woah! And Sakura? The Kiba Hut is going to have a blessed night if these two legends are here! Come on in guys, we’re having a kickback.”
As Kiba opened the door wider to let them in, a haze of smoke wafted out and the smell hit them like a wall. They had definitely come to the right place.
They saw Kiba’s usual crew, Hinata and Shino, sitting on the couch looking very blissed out already, along with a number of other kids from their school. Sakura checked her phone, isn’t it like 9 pm? Is this late or early for this kind of stuff?
“My guy Naruto told me you’re here for some famous Kiba Hut edibles, and like, welcome to the bake sale, but I’m telling you man, you gotta try the newest from Shino. Shit’s dank, bro.”
The couple turned away from Kiba to look at Shino sitting there with his sunglasses still on despite being indoors. He raised a single hand in greeting, then gestured to a plate of brownies plus something less familiar in front of him. “The new goods or pot?”
Sasuke looked disturbed by the sight and was about to say “neither” before Sakura elbowed him sharply in the side, “we’ll take both!” she cut in with a big smile.
“Adventurous! I fucking love it! Man, you kids are too cute, I’ll give it to you real cheap. You got Venmo?” Kiba pulled his phone out to start the transaction.
Sakura glanced around, they had never been to Kiba’s house before, so this was a new experience all around. She spotted a bowl of water by the kitchen, “uh, can dogs get high?”
Kiba laughed, “you’re probably wondering where Akamaru is! He’s chillin’ in the backyard. He’s cool with it though, he’s a total bro. He’s got hella treats out there, we’ve got hella treats in here. Equality, you feel?”
“For sure, for sure. I’ll just approve the charge now and we’ll be on our way!”
“Not so fast you two! Here at the Kiba Hut, we support tripping out in a safe environment, so you should take Shino’s new-new here.”
Sasuke and Sakura exchange glances. What did they have to lose?
----
Well, for starters, their grasp on reality.
They sat at Kiba’s kitchen table to take what Shino gave them and saved the edibles for later. And it was like nothing they had ever experienced.
“Sasuke. Your eyes are really red. Like not just the whites but your uh, pupil or whatever is the colored part.”
Sasuke rubbed at his eyes, “no they’re not. I can see them. So I know they’re not red.”
“Uhh, okay? They totally are though. And..did your head get bigger?”
“No but yours did. Ha, if only Ino was here. Hey, forehead. Wait—what the fuck, when did we get so small?”
“Oh my god, you’re so cute. You’re so short, Sasuke, you’re so small!”
*A/N: please imagine them as the SD versions of themselves*
Sakura started scooting forward on her chair. “What do we do now? How do we get down? We’re so small. We can’t stay here. What the fuck is going on? What did they give us?”
“It’s so hot in here. What did Kiba say about getting ready to hot box? What does that mean, like sweaty boxing? Where’s our water?” Sasuke looked up to their glasses of water on the table, which seemed miles away in their shrunken state.
“There’s no way we can reach up there. My head feels too heavy for my body, I’ll fall over if we try to jump.”
“Shit. Shit, okay, take your jacket off, first of all, am I the only one melting? Are the walls melting? Just throw it on the ground and to make a cushion. I’ll throw mine down on top and we can jump down.”
“Are you insane? What if we die?”
Sasuke gave Sakura a judgemental look, “we might as well be, I’m so fucking high! Just jump, I’m sure it won’t be that bad. Plus, I’ll go first and I’ll catch you,” he finished with a wink. He threw his jacket down on the floor with a pointed expression. A burgundy cardigan soon followed. And Sasuke jumped.
A voice sounded from below, “it worked! I made it! Jump now!”
Somehow Sasuke’s now doll proportion arms caught Sakura despite her now huge head. He set her down and started looking for the exit. There was no way they could push the kitchen door open, and he didn’t even want to see Kiba at the moment. It was so hot in the kitchen, he just wanted to get out of there.
“Sasuke! There!” Sakura pointed across the kitchen to the backyard. The doggy door.
“Fucking score! Let’s go.”
He grabbed her hand and they scurried across the tile as fast as their little legs could take them. But they needed to climb up a small threshold to get through the door, and the run combined with the heat of the kitchen had really drained them. They exchanged a look. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Akamaru’s dog bowl was full of water.
“Give me a boost!” Sakura told Sasuke as they faced the metal bowl. The way the metal warped their reflection made her feel even more tripped out, if that was possible. She just needed water now.
Sakura climbed up onto Sasuke’s clasped hands, grabbing onto the edge of the bowl. She held herself up on the edge and dipped her head to take a cool, refreshing drink.
Except her mouth encountered strands of white dog hair floating all around the water. She nearly toppled backwards as she tried to spit it all out, “ew, ew! Disgusting!”
Sasuke lowered her and asked as if it wasn’t already apparent, “so I’m guessing I shouldn’t drink the dog water?” She shook her head, “let’s just go outside.”
They walked to Kiba’s lawn and collapsed. It seemed like the sprinklers had just finished their cycle, so the cool, wet grass was a welcome change from the stuffy kitchen. “Sorry for dragging you here. I didn’t think it would be like this,” Sakura spoke quietly. Sasuke was a bit of a homebody to say the least, so when he didn’t have a good time during their outings, she always felt guilty for pushing him too far for comfort.
But he didn’t care as much as she always thought he did, he just enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend. They would both cherish these memories in the future since they were attending separate colleges. “It wasn’t that bad. Makes for a good story, I guess.”
Except the night wasn’t over, because a deep growl sounded from the shadowy corner of the yard.
Sakura bolted up, “Akamaru?!” before Sasuke dragged her back down, “are you trying to get us eaten? Keep quiet and just run!” Sasuke pointed to the side gate and without another word, they made a break for it. They didn’t bother locking the gate up again, too intent on getting the fuck out of there.
Sasuke took one look at his car and said, “nope. I’m not getting in that thing. We’re still coming down and it’s not safe. What if I get a DUI? What if we die? My dad would kill me either way.” Sakura nodded along as they started walking down the street, not another soul in sight.
Konoha wasn’t a huge town, despite never visiting Kiba’s house before, they could easily make their way back. “Hey, the park isn’t that far away. We could go sober up there then come back for your car?”
----
It seemed like whatever Shino gave them had mostly worn off during their walk and their stone bench looked more inviting than ever. They had shared countless moments there, from their first kiss, to their first “I love you”. They even opened their college acceptance letters there. Sakura swung her legs back and forth on the bench, “You know, I still have the edible in my bag. Should we?”
Sasuke ran a hand through his midnight hair, “Jesus fuck, alright. We’ve gotten this far and I know you wanted to try it. We can split it.”
They had been sitting and talking for quite some time when Sakura started giggling more and feeling some type of way. “Woah. Is this why half our classmates came to school high everyday? What have we been missing?”
Sasuke’s eyes were half lidded as he slouched on the bench, “maybe Naruto is actually onto something. We should call him. Haha. Naruto. What a loser.”
Sakura started patting around her pockets to call their friend, “Sasuke. I think I left my phone in my cardigan pocket, which we left on the kitchen floor. Fuck, I’m so stupid,” but she was still laughing a little and Sasuke just shrugged. “It be like that. I left mine too. We can get them later and we can call Naruto later. Life is so chill.”
Sakura smiled, “exactly, it really do be like that. And life is so chill. Like woah. Are you hungry by the way?” Sasuke perked up a bit and nodded, “starving. Ichirauku is just around the corner.”
----
Sitting in the vinyl Ichiraku booth waiting for their cheeseburgers, Sakura was relieved to be somewhere she’s familiar with. But then she spotted a face she’s very familiar with after years of sleepovers and flower shop visits: Ino’s dad. She ducked down started tapping her palm the table, “Sasuke, don’t look, don’t look, it’s Ino’s dad. This is terrible, he’s like a fucking mind reader or something he’s totally gonna know we’re high.”
“Can you stop, he’ll look this way if you keep making noise. Just be chill or something.” He couldn’t help but steal a glance over his shoulder to confirm if it really was Inoichi. “Holy shit, wait. Is that Shikamaru’s dad?”
Sakura craned her neck to see over Sasuke’s head, “it totally is! And they’re with Chouji’s dad too! This is crazy. If they see us they’re gonna tell my mom. And then I’ll be on permanent house arrest.” She sank lower into her chair until her pink head rested on the table.
Sasuke placed his chin on his folded hands. He had endured enough shenanigans for one night, it was time to just wait this one out. Once he got his cheeseburger with extra tomatoes he was ready to go home and knock out.
Except Chouza’s laugh carried across the diner, and so did his booming voice, “just like the old days, right guys? We still get the munchies!”
Sakura perked back up when she heard this, “did he just say the munchies? Oh my god, Sasuke they’re high. They probably smoked weed and now they’re here because they have the munchies. Just like you and me. This night is too fucking weird.”
Thankfully as the trio of dads was about to walk out with their food to-go, the waitress arrived with their order and blocked them from view. The pair ate in relative silence, glad for a moment of calm. But it didn’t last because not long after the dads left, another familiar figure walked in.
“Sakura, you’ll never fucking believe it. Actually just look, it’s Kakashi.”
She whipped around to see that it really was none other than their favorite literature teacher. She waved him over without thinking twice and Sasuke kicked her under the table. “What are you thinking,” he grits out. Kakashi was cool, hell, cool enough to let everyone call him by his first name, but he was still their teacher. An adult who worked for their school. Someone who could totally get them in trouble. Like, worse than detention, and they’d never even had detention.
“If it isn’t my favorite students,” Kakashi smiled as if seeing them outside of school was a perfectly normal occurrence. “What are you doing here?” Sakura questioned innocently, as if it wasn’t well into the night and she didn’t reek of weed.
“Picking up some food,” he answered matter-of-factly. “I could ask the same of you two, you’re normally home studying at this time of night, am I wrong?” Nope, he was 100% correct.
Sasuke chose his words carefully, “tonight has been an anomaly. But I am ready for bed now.” Kakashi nodded, “I see. You look like you’re done eating, so it won’t be long now. Drive carefully.”
The students exchanged a look before Sasuke swallowed his pride and started to beg as best as he knew how, “please, can you drive us home, we walked here from somewhere else and I don’t feel comfortable operating a motor vehicle in my currention condition, if you know what I mean.” Kakashi considered the two of them. They were certainly acting strange. Was Sakura trying to wink at him or was that a nervous twitch?
His eyes crinkled, “one ride won’t hurt, it’s late and what kind of teacher would I be if I left my students out to fend for themselves? I’ll just pick up my order and we can leave.”
----
They got situated in the car, just to find their former elementary school teacher Iruka sitting in the passenger seat. Sakura’s jaw dropped as she looks between Kakashi and Iruka. “You,” she points to the gray haired man, “and you?” she points to the ponytailed man. “Huh,” added Sasuke, “I thought Iruka hated tardiness, but Kakashi is late to class everyday.”
“Honey,” Iruka laughed nervously, “did you not tell your students about us? You always call them your precious students, I mean, I thought you’d tell at least these kids and Naruto.”
“Yeah,” jeered Sakura from the back seat, “what other secrets are you hiding Kakashi?”
“Sakura, shut up, shut up, Naruto texted me to come over now. He has something really cool to show us—or so he says. I wanna see, plus he owes us for sending us to Kiba’s. Kakashi take us to Naruto’s instead.”
Kakashi sighed, “I’ve seen some shit being a teacher, but I never thought I’d become a chauffeur for my students. But alright.” He made a U-turn and headed to Naruto’s. He had been there plenty of times, seeing as Minato was the school principal and something of a mentor to Kakashi.
----
After a car ride filled with the Mamma Mia soundtrack (Iruka claimed it was neutral territory, everyone loves it), they finally got dropped off at Naruto’s. They knocked on the door, ready for whatever surprise Naruto had to show them. When he flung the door open, they had never seen their friend so excited. His blue eyes were sparkling, “hurry! My room!” and he scurried into the house before they could even take their shoes off.
Naruto’s room was already quite a sight to behold considering the orange color scheme and ramen cups littering his desk, but his new orange quilt wasn’t what had Sakura screaming. “Why the fuck do you have a fox? Is that legal? Where did you get that thing?”
The blonde sniffed, “excuse me, ‘that thing’ has a name. Say hi to Kurama. Isn’t he a cutie?” Sasuke crossed his arms. Yup, their best friend had lost his mind. Even the fox’s collar and ID tag were orange. “And just what do you plan on doing with a fox, idiot?”
Naruto considered this for a moment, “I dunno. Didn’t think that far. I got it from this guy I know. Do you think Suna State allows pets in the freshman dorms?” Sasuke pinched the bridge of his nose. Hopeless, he was really hopeless. And then he remembered how Naruto had let them down earlier, but he didn’t think it was because he had acquired a new pet. “What was that all about earlier? How do you not have weed?”
“Oh yeah! I have something else to show you! It’ll explain everything. Come into the basement. Say bye to Kurama first.” Sakura half-heartedly waved at the rather grumpy looking fox in his cage before they followed Naruto down below.
----
There was no way the universe wasn’t fucking with them. “Sai? Why the hell are you in Naruto’s basement?”
“So rude, Saucey-k! He’s my guest, you’re a pest! And he’s painting, duh.” Their very strange and very pale friend was sitting in front of a giant canvas that nearly stretched the entire span of the wall. He was adding details to what looked like a picture of Naruto in a loincloth. He was lounging on his side, eating grapes with one hand, and petting a fox with the other.
“Yeah no shit, I can see that,” Sasuke quipped, “but why?” Naruto huffed at him again, like it was obvious, “he needs money for his college tuition, so I commissioned him to paint me and Kurama. I’m looking pretty sexy, right?” Sakura didn’t bother answering him, “how does this ‘explain everything’, though?”
Naruto snapped two finger guns at them, “oh, right! Sai is an artist. And he does his best work when he’s high. He obviously needed a lot of weed to complete this masterpiece, so I gave him all my weed. It’s like, paying it forward or something.” If at all possible, Sasuke was even more irritated than before. He couldn’t spare a gram for his lifelong best friends, but he could give it all to this guy? Traitor.
“Well, now that you’ve seen it, we should leave Sai to work in peace. Looks amazing, cutie! Kurama, we’re coming back up, did you miss me already?”
---
“Wanna pet him? He’s only bit me six times in the last hour, I think he really likes my vibe or something.” Before either of them could protest, Naruto started opening the cage. “Kurama, come here, come here. Who’s a good boy? Who wants to get pet?” His arms made a circle for Kurama to settle into when the fox started stalking towards the cage door. He pounced through the gap in Naruto’s arms and hit the ground running.
“Kurama, wait! We were just becoming such good friends! Come back here!” The trio immediately chased after the animal, but he was too fast and he escaped out of their doggy door and into the night. They rushed into the backyard just in time to see Kurama leap over the fence and out of the Uzumaki property.
They all plopped down onto the grass and Naruto started wailing, “he’s gone! What did I do wrong? Please, you guys we have to find him!” They definitely weren’t high anymore, they were too tired for this, but they weren’t shitty friends, so they agreed to go look for him.
----
They had even enlisted Sai to help them out. As they walked around Naruto’s neighborhood calling for Kurama, Naruto’s phone started ringing, “do you think Kurama is calling? He wants to come home!” He started excitedly fishing his phone out of his front pocket, “Kiba? Why would he be calling now?” Sasuke and Sakura settled on the sidewalk, expecting some weird conversation between dealers.
“You found him? Holy shit man! Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there soon! Thanks bro!” he hung up the phone and faced his friends, “Kiba found Kurama! Let’s go, we have to go now before Kurama starts missing me too much!”
And they were headed back to the place where the night had begun.
----
Thankfully Kiba only lived a few blocks away because Sakura’s feet were dragging with exhaustion. They were standing in Kiba’s backyard and she leaned against Sasuke’s shoulder as they listened to the explanation. The back gate was mysteriously left open, and Akamaru wandered out into the front yard. He was having a relaxing evening chewing a bone on the front lawn when a fox appeared. It seemed that the fox smelled Akamaru’s treat bank in the back and wanted a taste for himself. When Akamaru started barking like mad, very peeved that some other animal was trying to get at his precious treats, Kiba went outside to see what was going on. He just thought he was hallucinating since he was super high, but it was really a fox.
“And then I saw he had a tag and it had your name and number!” Kiba finished. Naruto had tears in his eyes, “that’s amazing. Kurama probably smelled Akamaru and just wanted a friend. Friendship is so powerful!” He was hand feeding Kurama treats, who looked much more complacent now that he was being fed.
They all made their way back into the house just as Kiba’s kickback was winding down. Sai disappeared into the kitchen for a while, returning with a cardigan and a jacket. “Ugly, this is a terrible color I’ve only ever seen you wear. And your boyfriend is basically attached to you, so I’m assuming this is his.” Sakura reached out to grab them from his hands before settling back on the couch.
“Thanks again, Kiba. I’m gonna take Kurama home now,” Naruto turned to face Sasuke and Sakura. “You two live in the opposite direction. Are you gonna walk?”
“I can drive.” The whole group looked to the front of the room where the voice came from. “Shino?” asked Sakura, “I didn’t even realize you were still here. And aren’t you high?”
“I’m the supplier and the designated driver.” When he offer any further explanation, Sasuke and Sakura shrugged and got up from the couch. Sasuke could get his car tomorrow. A free ride back to his comfy bed sounded wonderful.
----
Sakura had fallen asleep almost immediately when she got back to her own room, not even bothering to change her outfit. It had to be well into the afternoon when she finally woke up. Her head felt fuzzy and her mouth was dry. Was last night even real?
She grabbed her phone out of her cardigan pocket just to find that it was dead. But her pocket also held a napkin, “what is this? I don’t remember putting this in here?”
She unfolded the white napkin to see one of Sai’s signature ink drawings. It depicted Sakura, drawn in red pen, leaning against Sasuke, drawn in blue pen. He even added a bit of background—it looked like the grass and fence of Kiba’s backyard. He must’ve drawn it when he went into the kitchen. Sakura plugged her phone in and flopped back down onto her bed. She stared at the little drawing, wishing she was with Sasuke right now.
So last night was real.

WIP Game
Talk about the WIPs you’re intending to work on this year.
I was tagged by @crimsonriley and this looks like a good opportunity to taunt all my readers lot of fun!
I’m going to tag @vesperlionheart, @shyyynobi, and @beyondthemoor to join in on the fun. And, because I absolutely count WIPs as including art, I’m going to tag @yomi-gaeru, @byelawliet, and @maybe-please! <3
I have a number of WIPs (over a dozen) but there are only a few that are going to be actively worked on this coming year.
Homeward
MadaSaku, Time Travel AU, Eventually Mature
[FF - AO3]
This is my most popular fic and my main focus as a writer. It’s an AU where Sakura is thrown backwards in time during the battle between Danzo and Sasuke. The majority of the story so far is her amassing a reputation as a miracle healer and as an incredibly powerful kunoichi. I thought it would be more realistic for Sakura to have to survive and eventually thrive in the past before she came across one of the major clans (well, except for the poor Fuma clan).
The story has already gotten to the point where she meets Madara and Izuna (in a pretty flashy way). This is my pride and joy and it’s a fic I’m very happy to write. I love writing Sakura as this incredibly powerful and indomitable woman who demands respect wherever she goes while simultaneously being this sweet, openhearted healer and friend. And I love writing Madara as being this powerful, intelligent and calculating, yet kind man who people have to work to earn a way into his heart. I always envisioned Madara as being a man who needed a indomitable woman like Sakura to make him happy. A woman who could challenge him yet encourage him at the same time. And this woman would certainly be Sakura.
Snippets
“But you have blood on you,” she pointed out, taking a step towards him and reaching forward to touch a splatter of blood on the neck of his high collared shirt.
He nearly shivered as her fingertips brushed his clothed collar bone, his sharingan flickering on of its own accord. The world around him became sharp and crisp and the sight of her reaching out to touch him embedded in his mind before his sharingan returned to inactivity in the span of a heartbeat.
“It’s not mine,” he muttered in a tone deeper than normal as he stared at her concerned expression.
...
He turned his head to face her and could feel heat rising to his cheeks as he noticed how close they were, their noses nearly touching. All he could see of her was her half lidded eyes and her dilated pupils, the black heavily encroaching on the sea green of her irises. She stared right back into his lazily spinning sharingan, her own cheeks taking a red hue.
Uchiha MC
MadaSaku, Outlaw Biker AU, Mature
[FF - AO3]
This fic was actually the beginning of me rejoining the fanfiction world. I had written a couple fics but this was the first one I actually went out and posted. It started as a oneshot but I combined it with a couple other WIPs I had and created this awesome story that I was just giddy to write. It has turned out a long longer than I had anticipated although it has been so much fun to write.
It has just begun to rapidly escalate. The story is a little more than halfway done but there is going to be a lot of incredibly intense and “holy shit” moments coming up that are going to keep everyone on their toes! The story is really at a pivotal moment right now so any snippets will give away what’s going to happen. Sorry!
Untitled ObiSaku
[FF - AO3]
ObiSaku, AU where Obito comes back to the village, non-massacre, Mature
EDIT: I posted this fic while I was doing Sakura Week 2018. It didn’t turn out as absolutely filthy as I had previously planned as another fic (a MadaSaku fic - FF, AO3) I wrote decided to take the whole choking kink. While this fic is still smut, it’s not as dirty as I had originally planned.
This fic is one purely written out of spite. Some random user on AO3 was talking poorly about one of my MadaSaku fics and asked if I was going to do an ObiSaku fic too (because that’s soooooo ridiculous). So I replied with a “you better fucking believe it” and put together an outline for this pure filth with a heaping of fluff and plot.
Some aspects of this fic: Rin will be alive but her, Obito, and Kakashi will be non-romantic best friends. How Kushina and Minato will live and how Minato be Obito’s mentor as he trains him to take over as Hokage. Kakashi will still become the sensei for Team 7 and how Team 7 will split up to train individually, Sakura and Naruto going on journey’s with Tsunade and Jiraiya respectively and Sasuke going with Shisui to train with the Military Police. There will be a lot of self hate, kink self-shame, angst, and a wide age difference.
Nesting
MadaSaku, alpha omega beta AU, founders era, Mature
This fic was entirely inspired by the “nesting” phenomenon in ABO fics. And the fact I very much wanted to write a MadaSaku ABO fic.
Sakura is the leader of the famous clan of healers, the Haruno clan. The Harunos are close allies of the Uzumaki clan, hailing from the same region, and Sakura and Mito are such close friends they consider each other sisters. It is because of Sakura’s influence that Hashirama puts fourth a peace treaty in exchange for him healing Izuna (much to Tobirama’s horror). When the village if finally founded, there is a meeting where all of the clan leaders that are allies of the Hidden Leaf join together to discuss the future. And this is where Madara and Sakura finally meet and everyone makes the catastrophic (at least for a city block) decision of trying to drag them apart.
There will of course be ABO smut with mating bites, pupping, womb sex, etc. But a huge aspect of it will be Sakura and her “nesting” behavior as she chooses a place to make her nest and have her pup. Very sweet and fluffy.
Nonsensical
[FF - AO3]
ShisuiSaku, soulmarks AU, Mature
A cute and kind of funny little one shot made because there is a drastic shortage of ShisuiSakura fics. Depending on how long it turns out being I might break it up into smaller bites. It’ll be a non massacre fic with a healthy amount of angst, some super bad first impressions, some happy endings, Sakura being a badass, Team 7 being bffs, and Hokage Itachi.
Here are a coupe snippets although they are very rough because they are part of the outline and not actual written material.
Snippets:
Shisui didn’t get his soul mark until March 28th when he was eight years old.
He had gone to bed that night with clear skin and woke up that morning with his soul mark written across his left pectoral in a flowing, feminine script. He was excited to learn that he did in fact have a soulmate but the fact that the phrase now inked across his chest was the most random, nonsensical bullshit he had ever read in his short life dampened the feeling. Was his red string connecting him to a psychopath?
He couldn’t think of any other reason as to why someone’s first words to him would be “Pants are not ripe water grass bastard”.
What in the hell does that even mean? Was it some sort of secret code? Was she going to be drunk? Was she insane?
...
Sakura has had her soul mark since she was born although she didn’t learn this until she was a young girl.
When she had asked her parents why she didn’t have one, at the tender age of five after her friend Ino had shown off hers, her parents had laughed with mirth, given her a hand mirror, and told her to find it. After a solid fifteen minutes of searching and acts of stretching that contortionists would be proud of, she located her soul mark printed in a small, professional script in the crook where her inner thigh met her hip. While part of her had been disappointed it was in a very personal place, a spot she could never show up, she had been overwhelmingly satisfied with the words on her soulmark.
I didn’t know angels had pink hair”.
Other Fics (may or may not get written)
Broken Trust
ObiSaku, Uchiha MC branch off, lots of angst
Guardians
MadaSaku fic where Impure World Reincarnation is never outlawed and instead becomes a technique for raising “Guardians” to protect the village. Izuna becomes the first guardian and leads to the formation of the village. Madara, Hashirama, Tobirama, all the hokages, Itachi, etc become Guardians and never technically die, instead being treated as well respected protectors
Fighting Dreamers
MadaSaku MMA AU, Sakura “Cherry Bomb” Haruno and Madara “Wildfire” Uchiha
The Chances
MadaSaku soulmark AU, takes place during the war
Three Rejects
NaruSakuSasu, dark fic where the trio runs away from Konoha after suffering through years of abuse and neglect. Sakura is an orphan, stolen from her clan of incredible healers following the massacre of her family. They can only trust each other and only love each other, ends in tragedy for the rest of the world but bliss for them
Wake Up
MadaSaku fic where Sakura, Madara’s wife, is in a coma in the Warring States Era and imagining her life in the future
Like the Ocean
IndraSaku fic where Indra goes on his journey to help the distant village to determine if he would become the next leader of his village and comes across a strange woman on the beach, part of an even stranger clan of healers and mystics who live on the ocean’s edge
Cosplay
I have a new wig from Shippuden Sakura that I’m very excited to try out. I even got a pair of customized boots that are pretty incredible! I even met a Sasuke cosplayer who is so incredibly sweet and is just as into cosplay and Naruto as I am! So you may or may not see me and Sasuke at Anime Matsuri in Houston, TX this year.

Is she beautiful? - A borusara storyChapter - 2
This is the second chapter of is she beautiful.
Chapter – 2
Candies, Questions and Choices
The clanging sounds of weapon against weapon echoed throughout the training fields. Heavy blows and ferocious swipes were exchanged. A loud gust of wind soon destroyed a tree to splinters.
Boruto jumped away to create some distance between him and his opponent. He raised a fist to wipe the dripping sweat off his brow. He was heaving heavily. His breath was shallow. His blue eyes were focused clearly on each and every move of his pastel blue haired teammate. He concentrated some chakra at the soles of his feet and launched himself towards his opponent with an impressive speed. His palm was open, ready to strike, poised in the famous Hyuga style of battle.
Mitsuki, however, was no ordinary genin. He slid himself out of his rival’s attack range and immediately stretched his arm out to coil around Boruto’s torso. His other arm held a kunai in hand, which he swiftly moved to place on Boruto’s neck but was startled when he found a cold sharpness against his own throat and a smirking Boruto.
Mitsuki smiled and relaxed his stance as he released Boruto from his serpentine grip. The blonde fell down on the ground on his back with a thud.
“I think that’s enough for today.”
“Yeah. I’m tired anyway.” Boruto croaked out in a hoarse whisper as he picked himself up from the ground lethargically.
A few minutes later, they found themselves moving down the street, in the direction of Boruto’s home. Mitsuki stole a quick glance at his teammate’s defeated posture and realised that Sarada’s decision of not talking to him was actually taking a toll on Boruto’s normally boisterous personality.
Mitsuki was more than aware of the reason behind Sarada’s judgement. It was not only about Boruto cheating. Rather, it was about him breaking the trust they shared. Mitsuki might be a bit socially stunted but even he couldn’t ignore that there was something shared by both of his teammates, something special which could be easily lost between their arguments, but would resurface if either one was in some sort of trouble.
“Say…Mitsuki.” His companion’s voice brought him out of his thoughts.
“What is it?” Mitsuki gave a sideways glance to Boruto, noting that his eyes were hidden behind his bangs.
“Who was that big guy…with Renga?”
“Oh? The one who’s very interested in Sarada? And almost attacked you?”
“Yeah…?”
“I think he is Renga-kun’s cousin. He is a year older than him and is a resident of Suna. He is here because Suna has provided aid to Konoha, you know, for the reconstruction of the village. Although, I’ve seen him stalking Sarada a few times.”
“What?!”
“He is a persistent one, I guess.”
Mitsuki almost laughed at the ticked off expression that appeared on Boruto’s face.
You are so naïve, Boruto.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
Boruto peered at Mitsuki with curious blue eyes as the latter fished something out from beneath his sleeves and was surprised when he was handed over a fist full of candies.
“What…?”
“Sarada’s reward for helping that kid earlier. She asked me to give them to you.”
Boruto’s eyes widened. It did not escape his notice that most of the candies were lemon and blueberry flavoured.
His and Hima’s favourite.
He carefully shoved all of the candies in his pockets, feeling that something heavy was lifted off his shoulders and that his heart felt lighter. She may not have forgiven him yet but now, he knew for sure that she will definitely going to accept his apology, hopefully sometime in near future.
Mitsuki noticed the slight smile on his teammate’s lips.
He smirked at how determination shone in Boruto’s eyes.
“I was surprised today.”
“Huh?” Boruto gave him a sideways glance as they walked down the street, both of his arms folded up behind his head in a nonchalant manner.
“When you declared yourself to be Sarada’s protector.”
Boruto froze for a second and a tint of rose soon covered his cheeks.
He sputtered, “W…what? What about it?”
“I read it somewhere that most of the times, when a boy declares himself to be a girl’s protector, he probably has a degree of romantic interest in that particular girl.”
Boruto’s left eye twitched and his whole face turned into a violent shade of red. “What is that supposed to mean?! Come on! There is no such thing! I don’t like Sarada! In that way! She is just my friend and teammate! And tell me, won’t you protect her if she ever gets in some sort of trouble?”
“Of course I will, Boruto.”
Boruto breathed out a sigh and moved forward until he heard his pastel blue haired friend saying something along the lines of “But I won’t exactly declare myself to be her self-proclaimed protector, unless I feel the threat of rivals, especially when I know that she can simply punch those guys into oblivion.”
“Mitsuki!!!”
A flock of birds flew away as the loud cry echoed through the streets.
……
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Sasuke could easily decipher the increasing intensity of the impact of Sarada’s practice kunais striking the wooden target hung on to the wall of her room even from a floor below. He raised a questioning brow at his wife who was working around in the kitchen with amazing swiftness.
She almost giggled at the sight of her husband’s inquisitive face. Now that finally everything was over and Sasuke was at last home for good, he was trying his best to learn more and more about his daughter. It made Sakura’s heart fill up to the brim with warmth and happiness.
“It must have been Boruto.” She said nonchalantly.
“Boruto?”
“Yes. Boruto is the only person whom she considers ‘annoying’ enough to be annoyed.”
Sasuke looked slightly startled as he whispered, “Annoying…?”
Sakura’s giggle made him realise that his train of thoughts were moving towards the right direction and he sighed heavily.
“What? Won’t you go on an overprotective daddy mode?”
“I think…I sort of noticed it earlier.” His mind flashed the memory of when Sarada had defended Boruto in front of him, asking him to take her teammate as his pupil, and also the happiness when he had told her that he had accepted Boruto as his student.
The boy too knew his daughter’s likes and dislikes quite well, and had utmost faith in Sarada’s knowledge and decisions. They shared a strong bond…and for some reason, Sasuke felt as though…he didn’t mind it?
Sakura shook her head fondly and asked him to fetch Sarada so that they could eat dinner together.
…..
The dinner was supposed to be an ordinary affair. But it was anything but that as it quickly got out of hand.
In the middle of it, Sarada dropped her chopsticks down from her fingers, her head titled downwards and her bangs cast a dark shadow over her large onyx eyes.
“Papa…can I ask you a question?”
Both the adults in the room immediately shared a quick alarmed glance with each other.
“Yes…?” Sasuke asked hesitatingly.
She immediately raised her face up to look at him, her eyes burning with accusation, “You knew, right? You knew that he was using Kote, correct?”
Sasuke raised his brows. “Yes, I knew.”
Her little face immediately morphed with anger. He had never seen his daughter this mad.
“How could you?! You’re his master! How could you let him use that! You knew, you knew he was cheating! You knew it was wrong! And you still let him! Why?!”
Sasuke carefully assessed at his raging daughter with a calm look, his eyes displaying nothing but softness.
“Sarada, it was not my place to discipline him, at least in this situation. Yes, I am his master but he has a father too. The only time he needed me to guide him down the right path was in his father’s absence. For a child, their first teachers are always their parents. In this particular situation, Boruto needed to hear about what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ from his own father. Consider this as a teacher stepping down to let a father get his hold over his child back. A way to let them bond and come back to each other as a family?”
And how could I, knowing that at his age, I took an even darker path?
Sarada looked at her father dumbfounded, a part of her acknowledging the truth behind her Papa’s words. She knows that mistakes sometimes allow a family to come closer. After everything that she herself had gone through, she did not have the courage to deny the older Uchiha.
Her eyes were downcast. Her mind was a whirlwind of a thousand thoughts.
“Well, Sarada, I have a question for you as well.” Sasuke said in a stern tone which did not hide the gentleness he has for his only child.
She looked at him, startled. As her eyes gazed him in contemplation, Sasuke took it as his cue to continue.
“Why are you so angry about it, Sarada? Is it just because you felt betrayed when your teammate, your friend, broke your trust by cheating and hiding it from you… or…is it…that you’re more worried about how adversely his actions have affected your record?”
Sarada almost flinched back at the cruelty of the question. Even Sakura looked at him with stunned fury.
But Sasuke did not deter his gaze from Sarada and nor did he back down from the perilous situation that he had created under Sakura’s glare. Although, he did his best to ignore the discomfort in the pit of his stomach knowing that his question had actually hurt his child. His heart was pierced with the arrows of guilt and self-loathing as he watched tears roll down her cheeks as she got up and left the room immediately, followed by Sakura who gave him a dirty look before leaving to console their daughter.
Sasuke simply sat there, alone.
I’m sorry, Sarada. But you need to understand. You need to understand the source of that anger. It was not right of me. But this was the only way.
I’m sorry. Truly. I am.

SasuSaku Month - Day 11: Shelter from the Rain || [Fanfic] Storm (Part I)
Title: Storm (Part I)
Rating: K/G
Notes: More out-of-season stories XD
As in the previous one, the places depicted in the story are real (except for the restaurant). However, the descriptions might not be accurate since I had to depend heavily on photos, descriptions and Google Maps, so please, be lenient with that, especially if you’re Japanese or have been there.
Sorry for the delay and, as always, if you find something strange, please, tell me ^^ Thank you again for the kind messages and the notes. I hope you enjoy this one too :)
P.S. I saw I had an instant message this afternoon, but when I was going to reply to it some minutes later, it had disappeared. I don’t know if Tumblr ate it or that person deleted it (then, it’s fine), but if it’s the first case, could you please send it again?
Words: 4500
.
STORM
After turning off the car, Sasuke wrote a brief message in his smartphone and sent it. Then, he put his hands on the steering wheel and leant back on the driver’s seat, closing his eyes for a moment and sighing tiredly.
It was a tradition in the Uchiha family to gather for New Year. For two days, the members came from all the places in the country to the main house, and an official dinner was held on New Year’s Eve. After seeing the year off, a special ceremony was celebrated to ask the gods for their protection. The first day of January was also full of events and he had barely had time to sleep soundly after so much activity, drinking and eating. He had returned to his flat early that same morning to rest for a while, change into a clean suit and shirt, and pick up Sakura for the traditional visit to the shrine. Even though they had already done it with their families in the temples their clans belonged to, they had decided to go together a second time and spend the day out before she dedicated all her time to study for her Medical Licensing Examination in February.
The sound of the wooden door made him come out of his thoughts and he looked at the rear mirror to see a flash of white disappear around the side of the car. Immediately, the door of the passenger’s seat opened and Sakura smiled at him brightly. As he had expected, she was dressed in a kimono.
“Good morning, Sasuke-kun” she bowed a bit more. “Happy New Year.”
He nodded with a sound of acquiescence.
As she sat down sideways and carefully moved to get into the car, he took his time to observe her. Her furisode was made of white silk with a red hem on the skirt and the sleeves, and a pattern of bamboo, plum blossoms and pine, traditional motives for New Year, scattered over the whole fabric. Over it, she wore a white shawl. Around her waist, there was a black, red and golden obi with auspicious motives too, tied in a complicated knot in her back. She had her hair half up in a low bun with an ornament of red and black flowers, the loose locks parted in the middle and falling over her shoulders, leaving the back of her neck exposed. His gaze lingered on the small portion of white skin a second more than he wished to
She finally managed to get into the car and closed the door, careful not to catch her long sleeve. Then, she breathed with a mixture of relief and an attempt to gather her strength, and turned what her clothes allowed her, trying to take the seatbelt to no avail. After the second time, she looked at him with a pleading glance and he sighed, unfastening his and leaning over to take it.
Her perfume was subtle but totally intoxicating. As she could not lean back on the seat to make his actions easier because of the knot on her back, he found himself almost embracing her. For a moment, their eyes met and time seemed to stop. Hers widened slightly and her lips parted instinctively, enough for his dark pupils to fly to them momentarily. Something fluttered strongly inside her and her cheeks reddened, feeling his breath on her skin. They were in front of her house, anybody could see them in that compromising position. And while a part of her reminded her of all those things, another one, deep inside her did not mind at all and was whispering her sweet words about the possibility of him closing the very small distance that separated them. But suddenly, with a sigh, Sasuke tore his sight from her face and pulled the seatbelt maybe with more strength that was needed. He straightened, fastening her belt and then, sitting properly on his seat, did the same with his own.
He started the car and drove away from her house, and for a few minutes, they stayed in silence.
“Th-Thank you for picking me up” she started speaking, fidgeting with the small lackered handbag on her lap. “And sorry for the bother, you must be tired after the New Year’s traditions, and to come this far-”
“Don’t be” he replied, his tone a bit harsher than she expected, and as he saw her grip her bag tighter, he softened his next words. “I don’t mind, and moreover, meeting there would be almost impossible.”
He was probably right. After all the shrine where they were going, Tokyo Daijingu, was very famous and there were always a lot of people praying there. Sakura startled a bit and blushed. It was especially popular because it was related to love and marriage. Inwardly, she hit herself. If she had remembered that before, maybe she would have chosen another one from the two or three Sasuke had suggested. But that one was more or less halfway their houses, though the fact that he had insisted on picking her up made him take a huge detour and drive three times the distance. She could only hope that he did not know about the tradition and did not read in her choice more than what it was.
.
When they arrived in the vicinity of the shrine, he parked the car and they walked along the busy streets, filled with people who were probably going to the same place. As they neared the shrine, the crowd became even larger. Sometimes, Sasuke did not notice that he left Sakura behind, since she had to take small steps due to her kimono, and when he turned, he had to stop and wait or go back to her. The third time it happened, he stretched his arm back and took her hand without a word, and she could not help flustering a bit.
It was the first time she felt his skin and she experienced a soft tingling in her stomach. It was a bit cold, but not to feel uncomfortable. His palm was rough and she could feel some rough patches under her fingers, probably from the sword practice he did since he was young. She smiled lightly. That hand spoke of hard work and a strong will to get his objectives, and also, his firm grasp gave her reassurance and the certainty that he was someone who did not leave those who trusted him in the lurch.
When they turned another corner, they came to an unexpectedly narrow street for a famous shrine to be built, and opposite a high building a few metres from their position, they saw the stone shrine fence. As they approached it, the hum of people’s voices became louder and louder and when they stopped by the Torii, the access was closed with a wooden railing and a sign told them that the entry to the place had been changed. A bit further there was a big queue that went up the slope and some policemen that gave instructions to the people. Sasuke looked at her questioningly and as she smiled and nodded, he did the same and together, they started their way up the street. Sakura lifted a bit the hem of her kimono so her strides could be longer so she did not have to run and Sasuke did not have to adjust to her pace again. After a few steps, they found a matching rhythm, and this time, it was he who smirked briefly to himself as he admired her tenacity and her ability to adapt to each situation. Others would have started complaining a long time ago…
After some minutes, they reached the end of the queue and they prepared to wait patiently. Though they expected to take their time, the line moved quite quickly and less than an hour later, they were almost at the shrine.
When they entered the place, they went up the steps and crossed under the stone torii, and went to their right, where the purification fountain was. Once they observed the ritual, they went up the stairs and the sacred ground appeared before their eyes. It was a very beautiful building made of dark wood with a pointy roof and there was a purple curtain with two big chrysanthemum flowers half folded to mark where the main hall was. The yard was small, covered in gravel with a stone path in the centre. People were waiting in a very quiet queue. Soon it was their turn to go up the steps and stand in front of the altar. Following the custom, they offered some money and bowed, clapping their hands to offer their prayers. Then, they stepped down to let the following people in the row do the same.
“Sasuke-kun” it was her turn to take his hand as they walked, and he looked at them, surprised that she had taken the initiative. “Do you want to draw your fortune for this year?”
He smiled a little, not really minding being half dragged to the stall where the fortune papers were bought.
‘Excellent Luck’ said in both fortune papers, and Sakura let out a small excited laugh. She folded it and, opening her handbag, put it in a small pocket carefully. Then, she looked at Sasuke, who still had the paper between his fingers.
“Come on, Sasuke-kun” she said putting her hands behind her and leaning forward a bit. “Put it in your wallet.”
“I don’t really believe in these things” he said contemptuously. “ You make your own luck, not what it’s said randomly on a paper.”
She pouted slightly.
“Now you’re being disrespectful to all those people” she said waving in the way of some people tying their predictions to a special wire in hopes to leave their bad luck behind.
“Alright, alright…” he said with an annoyed sigh, folding it and taking his wallet from the back pocket of his trousers. “Satisfied?” he said lifting a brow after he had put it back.
“Yes!” she smiled widely and he studied her for a moment, lifting his brow.
“You’re very simple if that little thing makes you happy, you know?” he teased her.
Instantly, her expression changed to a scowl.
“Well, sorry for being simple.”
Sasuke gazed at her, his eyes sparkling with amusement while a small smirk appeared on his lips, and felt the temptation to tousle her hair. But she would probably get mad, so he refrained himself. Instead, he looked at his watch.
“It’s still early for lunch. Do you feel like having a walk, or do you prefer to sit down for a while?”
She was a bit puzzled at the sudden change of topic, forgetting everything about his joke. But then, she understood that it was an offering of peace and she smiled. After all, she was not angry either.
“A walk would be nice.”
They went down the street at a leisure pace, taking a look at the shop windows they found on their way. As they reached a corner that led into a wider street they stopped to decide where to go.
“Oi, Sasuke!”
A cheerful voice called him and they turned, seeing a blond man waving at them accompanied by a beautiful woman with black hair tied in a bun at the top of her head, dressed in a dark purple kimono. Sakura heard Sasuke groan softly and looked at him curiously.
“What are you doing here? Coming from Tokyo Daijingu?” the man said slapping the other’s back. “If you never cared about visiting shrines…” in that moment, his blue eyes fell on Sakura. “Oh, now I understand it” he grinned with a mischievous expression and Sasuke huffed, annoyed. “Well, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Sasuke glared at him and then sighed again, defeated.
“This idiot is Uzumaki Naruto, Manager of Human Resources at the company, and his wife Hinata-san” he said looking at her, then, he looked at Hinata. “This is Haruno Sakura.”
Both women smiled and bowed to each other as Naruto complained loudly about being ignored by his best friend. Sasuke crossed his arms with a satisfied expression and they could not help a small laugh that they tried to hide behind their hands.
“Nice to meet you, Haruno-san” Hinata said with a sweet smile. “I’ve heard about you from my husband. You’re Sasuke-san’s omiai partner, aren’t you?”
Sakura smiled.
“Yes. And please, call me Sakura. People call my parents 'Haruno-san’ and I’m going to start thinking they’re behind my back.”
“Okay.”
“It was time that someone took you out of your house during this holiday” Naruto said to his boss and then, turned to Sakura. “No matter how much everybody insists on going out and have some fun, every single New Year he gives us the same answer: 'After having to tolerate my whole family for two days, I prefer to stay at home and sleep'” he imitated Sasuke and then, he looked at him with half closed eyes and crossed his arms. “Sometimes I think that if you could, you’d hibernate like a snake.”
“You should be glad I do that” Sasuke had a snarky tone in his voice. “I can stand you thanks to me resting when I can.”
Sakura was mortified, but Hinata touched her arm and smiled at her.
“Don’t worry, they’re always like that. It happened to me before, but I understood it’s their way of expressing their feelings.”
Sakura tilted her head confused and then looked again at the two men who were exchanging new remarks.
“If you say so…”
Hinata, seeing that Sakura was a bit uncomfortable, clapped her hands softly and looked at them
“We were about to look for a place to eat, would you like to join us?” she asked, interrupting her husband’s diatribe.
“But, Hinata-chan…” Naruto complained throwing a dirty look at Sasuke, who frowned.
“I’d like to talk a bit more with Sakura-san” she looked at them with slightly pink cheeks and a shy smile. “If Sasuke-san doesn’t mind…”
“I don’t” he said with a small defeated sigh.
With happy smiles on their faces, both women started walking down the street followed by the men, a soft breeze playing with the sleeves of their clothes and their hair. Sasuke and Naruto kept silent for a few moments, hearing them speak about their kimono, praising their patterns and colours and talking about the period their families had acquired them.
“I swear to you that I’ll never understand women…” Naruto broke the silence between them and Sasuke made a sound of agreement.
The blond man stared at him, and after a few seconds, Sasuke frowned and looked at him.
“What?”
Naruto put his hands in his coat pockets.
“So, you’re tying the knot…”
“Don’t be an idiot. Why are you saying that?”
“But, you know, Tokyo Daijingu is famous because of that. People come here to pray for love and marriage.
Stunned, Sasuke looked at his friend before wanting to slap himself hard. He had not remembered about it. It was true that he had heard things about it but when deciding where to go, he had not thought about it. Now he could understand why there were so many women there praying and having their fortune told in a different boot from the one where Sakura and he had gone. What would she be thinking now? He stole a glance at Sakura, who was smiling about something that Hinata was saying.
“I… forgot…”
“Oh, gosh, you’re hopeless, you know?” he grinned. “Wait till Itachi knows about this.”
Sasuke expression panicked for a moment before he clenched his teeth.
“If you tell him, I’ll kill you and I swear they’ll never find the body.”
.
Naruto had booked a private booth in a small ramen restaurant called Ichiraku, and since he was friends with the owner, the man did not mind putting two more cushions at the table. They asked for beer and bowls of noodles each with their preferred seasoning and ingredients.
“You really couldn’t go to any other place to eat in New Year…” Sasuke made a face as he looked at his friend with half closed eyes.
“I like ramen, is that a problem?”
“Are they really best friends?” Sakura asked as they started yet another argument.
“Yes. Naruto-kun and Sasuke-san met in their first year of middle school. At the beginning, their fights were really serious. Naruto-kun was always on the defensive and he took whatever Sasuke-san said personally. And then, he started to do it for fun…”
Sakura looked at Sasuke as he crossed his arms.
“So, he’s a bit of a sadist?”
Hinata laughed softly.
“I wouldn’t say that…” she thought for a moment. “I think it was his way to try to understand him. You see… Naruto-kun was… quite the rebel in his adolescence and Sasuke-san could not figure him out. Moreover, they’re both very competitive and it became a matter of pride for my husband to surpass him” she took a sip of her beer. “Naruto-kun…” she blushed a bit. “He was really bad at studying, or better said, he didn’t have any interest, so, when he was at risk of not graduating, Sasuke-san took it upon himself to make him learn by force if necessary. They even had a serious fight. Naruto-kun lost, so he had to comply and in the end, he did it…”
She paused, looking at them fondly.
“Sasuke-san was one of the first to see his worth. Most people said that he was a disaster and that he wouldn’t accomplish anything in life. Only a few believed in him…”
“And you were another one of them” Sakura said with a grin, and then, blushed. “Oh, sorry I was too indiscreet.”
Hinata shook her head.
You’re right. I have loved him since that time, and even though I couldn’t do what Sasuke-san did, I tried to support him with small deeds, like lending him things or preparing bento for them. When I finally confessed he almost fell down from the impression” she laughed lightly.
Sakura took a sip of her drink, and at that same moment, their order arrived and there was a pause in their conversations.
“Naruto-kun said your family owns a hospital…”
“Yes, the Haruno Private Hospital” Hinata nodded, knowing the name of the famous clinic. “And you, Hinata-san? Are you a chairman’s daughter?”
“No” she picked up some noodles with her chopsticks and blew softly. “My family belongs to the traditional arts. My mother is the head of an Ikebana School and my father is a painter.”
“A painter?” Sakura asked after swallowing the first bite of her meal. “May I know who?”
“Hyuuga Hiashi.”
“Oh!” she put a hand in front of her mouth in surprise. “My grandmother is a fan of him. She has two of his paintings hanging in the dining room of our main house.”
“I’m honoured.”
“Me too. When I tell her, she’s going to be ecstatic.”
“If you want to, one day we could invite you and your grandmother to our house, so she can meet him…”
“That would be fantastic, Hinata-san…” however her excitement disappeared quickly as she stole a glance at Sasuke. “But, I don’t know if it’ll be appropriate…”
Hinata left her chopsticks on the table and folded her hands together, smiling sweetly.
“Even if you don’t marry Sasuke-san, I hope we continue to be acquaintances, Sakura-san…”
.
“They seem to get along well…” Naruto said putting his bowl on the table after drinking some broth. “I’m glad. Hinata-chan needs more female friends…”
Sasuke did not say anything, busy as he was having a bite of his food. However, he had noticed it too. It seemed that both women had many things in common and they were becoming friends. They had even heard bits of the story Hinata had told Sakura about the times where the three of them had met.
“So, are you going to ask her to marry you?” his friend asked, propping one elbow on the table and putting his chin on his hand, watching his wife and his friend’s partner chatting in a lively way. “And this time I’m asking seriously.”
Sasuke stayed silent for a few seconds.
“I don’t know…”
“But you like her, right?”
He frowned, lifting his head from his meal and staring at Naruto.
It’s the second time you say that” he said a bit on the defensive. “Why are you so sure?”
Naruto watched the dark haired man opposite him for a moment with a sceptical expression on his face.
“Really? It’s obvious by the way you look at her. There’s…” he made a gesture with his hands. “I don’t know how to call it… something…”
“Great, very enlightening” he retorted ironically. “But” he continued in a softer tone. “I think it’s too early to know.”
Naruto looked at him with half-closed eyes for a few seconds with an unreadable expression that gave Sasuke goosebumps.
“So dense…” Sasuke heard him mutter before putting a big piece of meat in his mouth.
“Well,” he commented after swallowing it. “An omiai dating period normally lasts three months, so I suggest you to start considering it.”
.
When they came out of the restaurant, the light breeze from before had turned into a strong wind, and dark clouds covered the sky.
“Uh-oh…” Naruto said looking at the sky and scratching his head. “it’s better if we leave that coffee for another day. It’s going to pelt down in a few minutes…”
The rest of them agreed and they said their goodbyes quickly with the promise of another gathering soon, and went their separate ways, but they had barely walked past a few shops when, with a flash of lightning followed shortly by the thunder, the rain started. The few drops of the beginning turned into a downpour in seconds, and Sasuke took Sakura’s hand to help her walk faster. She slipped once and then decided to take off her sandals that he snatched from her grasp immediately, and lifted the skirt of her kimono, and both started to run. They arrived at the car five minutes later, and as he opened the door to her, she picked up the hem, that was stuck to her legs, up to her knees to enter quickly. Sasuke did the same as soon as he closed her door.
With one hand, he wiped his face and combed back the locks of hair that had stuck to his face with his fingers. Sakura was cleaning her forehead with a handkerchief that she had taken out of her handbag. Then, she refolded it and handed it o him.
“I’m sorry that you have to use the same one.”
He shook his head and took it, cleaning a bit his eyes and brows.
“There should be some tissues in the glove compartment.”
She took them out and picked up some before handing them to him, who dried his hands while looking ahead. It was impossible to see anything clearly through the windscreen, as cascades of water slid down it. Another thunder, loud as a cannon shot, seemed to shake the car. He could not help being worried about driving in those conditions, but there was no other choice.
“Well, let’s get you home.”
She nodded as she sniffled, embracing herself to keep the little warm she still had, and he started the car. He turned on the heating system and the windscreen wipers at the fastest speed, and started to manoeuvre carefully.
.
“I can’t believe this…” Sasuke said frowning and squeezing the steering wheel between his hands.
They had just turned into a big avenue and they had suddenly been stopped by a long line of cars. Even though the traffic lights allowed them to continue their way, the red lights of the cars in line could be seen all along the street, far ahead from their position. And they were not moving an inch.
“I supposed there would be some heavy traffic with this storm, but this is ridiculous…”
He stole a glance at her. Despite her efforts to appear calm, he had noticed that she had started to shiver compulsively a few moment before. The traffic lights changed for the third time and they were not moving. Sasuke swore under his breath and looked at her again, this time openly. He frowned when she turned her face to her window, maybe to avoid his gaze, and then trembled violently. Her fingers fisted even tighter on the sleeves of her kimono, her knuckles becoming even whiter as if she was trying to control her shudders with all her might. He put his hand on hers, noticing how cold it was and she startled, turning her head to him. She was pale and her eyes were slightly widened. At that moment, a man knocked on his window and he slid it down. He was wearing a police officer raincoat.
“Good afternoon, sir” Sasuke nodded and Sakura looked at him curiously despite her state. “There’s been a multiple car accident two intersections from here, and that is why you are in this situation. We are working as fast as possible.”
“Do you know how much time we will have to wait?”
“I’m not sure, sir. The accident and emergency team is attending the injured and the firefighters will try to move away the cars as fast as possible when they’re sure that there’s nobody trapped in them but until then…”
After one more quick look at Sakura, who had gone back to her previous position, he made his decision.
“Which street should I take to go to Shinjuku?” he asked in a lower voice.
“When you reach the next street on the left, turn. The police officer who is there will be able to give you more accurate instructions.”
“Thank you.”
Slowly, they could continue for a few metres and then he used the left turn signal. Sakura looked at him through half closed lids.
“A detour?” her voice was shaky and a bit sleepy.
“More or less. We’re going to my house.”
Those words woke her up immediately, looking at him with widened eyes.
“Wha-?”
“You’re freezing, and with this traffic jam it’ll take us hours to get you home.”
She shook her head weakly, trying to protest.
“But-”
“No buts. Call your family,” he said, giving her a quick stern glance as he turned. “Till the storm stops, you’re staying with me.”
