Good grief ... I’ve been tagged by @a-shakespearean-in-paris, @enchantment1385, @isharaytaoshay, AND @sassylavellen! Guys! ~laughs~ 44 questions! Under the cut, though, it’s long!

So, from @a-shakespearean-in-paris ...

What’s your favorite Disney Movie? Sleeping Beauty, always.

If you are limited to read one book for the rest of your life, what do you pick? Oh, crap. Um ... To Kill A Mockingbird. But I can’t just have one!

What is your favorite play by Shakespeare? Twelfth Night.

Do you watch the Oscars or Golden Globes? Neither, I’m not that fussed.

What is the animal that represents the inner you? (Patrononus, if you’re into Harry Potter.) The inner me is definitely a very lazy domestic kitten.

favorite historical period? Medieval, Tudor, or Regency. I refuse to choose!

favorite artist? (As in like Van Gough, Picasso, Renoir, etc.) Or favorite period in art history?  Torn between Van Gogh (Starry Night is one of my favorites), Leonardo da Vinci, and Edmund Leighton.

Do you like the Marvel movie franchise, hate it, or are you indifferent to it? What’s your opinion on the superhero genre in general? (can talk about DC too if you like) Oh, that’s tough. I generally like the Marvel movies, the casting is amazingly good. But I have a basic problem with the superhero genre - I’m British, we don’t have a culture of superheroes over here. Seriously, the superheroes from my childhood were Bananaman and Super Ted. My problem is with the increasing emphasis on lengthy action sequences (which bore me to tears), and the distinct lack of plausible consequences. I know both DC and Marvel have tried to get the consequences in there, but seriously ... the “heroes” do more harm than good with their flashy tactics. It just annoys me.

Did you ever have an embarrassing celebrity/fictional character crush? Yes. ~grins~ Okay ... Gaston from Beauty & The Beast. And it got worse when they did the live action version, because I lurve Luke Evans!

Guilty pleasure movie? The Chronicles of Riddick, or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Depends on my mood.

And the most important question of all…you go to a bar. What’s your go to drink? (if you’re into drinking?) JD & Coke. Without fail. :)

1) Place you want to travel?  I’d love to be able to meet the lovely people I’ve made friends with here on tumblr! So ... kind of everywhere?

2) Favourite time of the day/night? I like the hours after midnight and before dawn. I’m pretty much an insomniac, so I spend a lot of time awake then, and there’s just something about the way the world feels that appeals to me

3) Weirdest accident you’ve ever had happen? Weirdest would be the time I fell over a mop and broke my clavicle. Cannot, for the life of me, work out why the mop was there, or how I fell over it.

4) Favourite comfort meal? Hmm ... fried egg and chips (fries).

5) How many places have you traveled in? Let’s see ... Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria. Eight! All when I was under 18; I haven’t been anywhere since then!

6) Favourite scar? I have a small scar on my inner left forearm that shows up under fluorescent lighting and freaks out therapists when I first meet them. Nothing sinister - Beni, my first cat, scratched me accidentally with dirty claws when he was a kitten, and it took forever to heal!

7) Favourite historical era? Tudor, Medieval, or Regency. ~grins~

8) One blog you’ve followed forever and always admired but been too scared to approach? Um ... all of them? ~laughs~ I am getting better at putting in asks and things, but I have yet to be brave and just outright drop into anyone’s messenger uninvited.

9) Your idea of a perfect day? A perfect day ... would be any day in which I don’t have to talk myself either down from a panic attack or up from a depressive moment, unfortunately. I have small ambitions.

1. Do you have a favorite soundtrack from a movie or a video game? I tend not to focus on complete soundtracks; I have favourites from several soundtracks, but they tend to be the sweeping scores, like DAI and LotR. Big music for big moods!

2. What was the first video game you remember playing? Lands of Lore; The Throne of Chaos. Well, I didn’t exactly play it - I sat behind my brother and watched him play it. I still can’t finish that game, but I love replaying it.

3. If you could have any kind of food right now, what would it be? Right now? I want chili and macaroni cheese, but that requires money to buy ingredients with and the motivation to cook it. ~laughs~

4. Are you a good cook? I am a passable cook. I have not, to date, poisoned anyone, and my last disaster was only a disaster because the rice was disgusting. But I always have a back up plan!

5. Do you have/want any exotic pets? I would love to have an African Grey parrot, but sadly, my slightly feral cat would not have it in the house unless it was dinner.

6. What fictional character would you love to be friends with? Torn between Nanny Ogg and Cassandra Pentaghast. Nanny, because she’s just a comfortable person to be around; Cassandra, because I think she needs a friend.

7. if you could have any superpower, what would it be? Um ... being able to understand maths and science seems like a pretty good superpower to. Neither of which make a lick of sense to me, I should add.

8. What movie could you watch and enjoy every single time? Labyrinth. And have done, on many, many occasions.

9. Favorite color combinations? Brown and gold, blue and silver, purple and teal.

10. when you play games (Dragon Age or like games) do you use armor sets that have good stats but looks bad, or armor that looks good but has bad stats? When I can cheat (and I do), I go with armor that looks good and is crap. When I can’t cheat, my characters tend to look like they’ve just climbed out of a Lost Property box.

11. Favorite genre of music? That is a hard one to answer. It all depends on my mood - sometimes it’s 80′s pop, sometimes it’s classical, sometimes it’s musicals. Never ever jazz, though.

1. What is your favorite fandom, and why? The Dragon Age fandom wins by a narrow margin. Why? Because, while I was extremely late to the party and have seen a fair amount of harshness in the community, I have been made to feel very welcome by everyone I’ve encountered and spoken to. As an anxious person, just interacting is enough to send me into a downward spiral, but you’ve all been just lovely to me. 2.  What’s your Pokemon team? I have never played or watched Pokemon, so I have no idea! 3. Favorite ‘Team’ in dragon age or mass effect? Hmm ... Origins, I tend to go for Alistair, Shale, and Morrigan (Demelza’s a rogue); DA2 is Varric, Fenris, and Bethany (Poppy, another rogue); Inquisition finds me with Cassandra, Iron Bull, and Sera (Velen’s a mage). 1: Handheld, console or PC?

I’ve always played on a console (xbox specifically) but I do acknowledge that PC is pretty much the way to go these days. I just don’t have the money to buy a gaming pc/all the steam games I would inevitably get, and I’m too attached to my xbox gamerscore :L

4: Top three video games? (I’m gonna other than ME and DA cause duh)

The Halo series is definitely the one closest to my heart, even more so than any Bioware game. I’ve just been with it for so long, ever since the first game came out when I was 6 and it was my first fandom and I’m pretty sure it played a part in my boyfriend and I getting together. 

Life is Strange is FANTASTIC and I think it’s definitely up at the top for me.

Aaaaand...the Elder Scrolls series, I suppose. Another one that’s been with me for a looooong time.

9: Favourite game within your favourite series?

Halo 4, definitely. Oddly enough, it’s kind of the most hated game in the series but I love it so much more than the others. The story is amazing, the music is incredible (no seriously I mean it, go listen to it) and the multiplayer was actually my favorite. Anyone that hates that game, you’re a butt and stop telling me how much it sucks >o

19: Favourite video game hero?

Okay, Mass Effect wins out here. Definitely FemShep. She’s universally badass, her voice gives me...feelings, she’s a redhead (at least mine is), she’s a sniper (at least mine is) and best of all, she’s all of these things while having a vagina, so super relatable.

26: Most disappointing video game you've played?

OMG HALO 5. Not enough Chief, way too much of a character I give zero shits about, they put 3 of my favorite characters of the franchise in the games FINALLY and did absolutely nothing new with them, the story made no sense, the friendly AI were janky as shit, they completely fucked up Cortana, they made multiple tedious boss fights, and NOT ENOUGH CHIEF. Sure, there are some pretty cool aspects of it, and the multiplayer is pretty bomb, but it’s not enough to make up for the story imo.

30: What aspect of a video game is most important to you - eg graphics, storyline, soundtrack, controls?

It’s a tie between story and graphics. Unfortunately, I have a hard time overlooking super dated/just plain terrible graphics. If I know the story is good enough, I can usually overlook it, as was the case with the first 2 DA games, but if it’s got an okay story and bad graphics, I’m out. Also achievements. If a game doesn’t have achievements, I am 50-80% less likely to play it.

Mari stands shyly in the corner, wishing she had the courage to ask Rumor for a kiss.

Callum nudges Rumor, nodding to the corner with an encouraging smile. Rumor’s blue eyes follow his nod, a wider smile crossing her face as she notes the shyness. She nudges Callum, and he nods again, turning to begin a loud conversation with the others, drawing attention away as one of Kirkwall’s spy-masters saunters over to where Mari stands alone.

“Hard to ask in front of everyone, isn’t it?” she murmurs, gently teasing her slender fingers between Mari’s to stroke her thumb over the other woman’s knuckles. “Sometimes, though, there’s no need to ask.”

She flashes another confident smile, rising up on her toes to touch a soft kiss to the corner of Mari’s mouth - something perhaps more intimate than was entirely called for, but no less an offering of sweetness for all that. One kiss follows another, fuller this time, and one last touched to the tip of the shy Hawke’s nose.

Rumor winks above her smile as she draws back. “Wasn’t so bad, was it?”

Quarantine Questionnaire

Are you staying home from work/school?

Yes, it’s been three weeks that I am working from home. I am an engineer, and at this time of the year most of the work we do is usually design, estimates, and specification writing - so it’s office work.

That being said, I have a minor case of ADHD, so the breaking of the boundaries of Work and Home destroyed my productivity. I’ve mostly adapted by now, but it still doesn’t feel right to work from somewhere my brain doesn’t see as a place of work.

If you’re staying home, who’s there with you?

My spouse, their mother, and our cat. Their mother as an elderly dog, but I barely interact with him. My spouse and our cat is all company I could wish for, to be honest. Being able to spend the day with them is definitely being a plus.

Are you a homebody?

Oh, yes! In fact, this social distancing times is being great for me to have a reason not to go out. I love it! Also, it’s allowing me to power through my Dragon Age fan comic project, Anathema. In fact, I released a Sneak Peak on the first three pages of Chapter #2 not long ago.

What movies have you watched recently?  What shows are you watching?

No movies. I’m not much of a movie person. Series, though! My spouse and I devoured the fourth season of Money Heist last Friday as soon as it got released, and we’re re-watching The Office in the evenings.

An event you were looking forward to that got cancelled?

Not events per se - I’ve had a huge milestone at work be cancelled, as well as another huge immigration milestones for in-laws. Also, I had a friend who was coming to spend the Summer in Newfoundland with us, and now she’s had to postpone - maybe even cancel the plans.

Events, though? Not really.

What music are you listening to?

Mostly established playlists I already had on Spotify. John + Junia’s playlist, of course, is a staple as I work on Anathema.

What are you reading?

Nooooothing! I really, really should read more. I tried finding some comics online to read as means of studying for Anathema, but I still didn’t find anything quite along the lines I’d like to learn from. 

And on the video-game, I’m replaying some games of the Assassin’s Creed series, as well as playing the ones from the Ezio saga I didn’t play before. The #2 and #3 on his saga should arrive in the mail any day now.

What are you doing for self-care?

I am doing only self-care. Me and the house are one, and honestly, this is being a major time of healing for me. Working from home is not ideal, but not having to leave for anything else? There are a few things I like doing outside, but not being able to go out far outweighs, in a positive way, the losses from like, one or two things I’d like to go outside to.

i actually started writing up some codex entries for my da ocs recently, just for the hell of it. inspired by this post.

this one is a journal entry by the cook about wren trevelyan. she references other ocs of mine too. (“inquisitor” being mariah trevelyan, “herald” being lilac trevelyan, and “qunari mage” being mel adaar!)

That Trevelyan mage girl, Wren, visits me far too often. You’d think she was feeding the whole army with the amount of food she requests. Pies for the Inquisitor, cake for the Herald, even scraps to make cookie dough for that blonde elf and the qunari mage. I suppose it would be endearing if I wasn’t already working overtime to feed the guests. Frankly, if she asks me for one more pastry, I might lose my temper. Although, one thing I must praise her for is keeping our commander fed. I think he’s eaten more meals in the past week than he has since we arrived at Skyhold weeks ago. She obviously cares for him—makes me wonder if he cares back. Perhaps I’ll ask around next time I see a group of soldiers. Surely they must have some idea.
