- alright so to start off, let me just say

- a lot of people think Seungkwan is quite the confident character 25/8

- and yES THERE’S NO DOUBT THIS BOY’S GOT HELLA CONFIDENCE

- but tbh I think he would totally lose his cool for a girl he has a huuuge crush on

- it would probably take a whole lot of time for him to realize he likes you but

- once he does

- oh man

- he’s gonna be falling so freaking hard and it will be super obvious at times

- mainly bc the members won’t be able to keep secrets from you for shit lmao

- but there will be plenty of moments when he’ll slip up a bit and give a few hints

- so you’re an intern at pledis entertainment, assisting in the management of Seventeen

- meaning you see Seventeen every time you show up for work !! (where do I sign up)

- and by the third week of your internship, you’re practically best friends with all of them bc you’re just so friendly and open and talented and aDORABLE

- well, best friends with all of them except one:

- Boo Sasskwan

- except he’s not sassy when he’s around you

- in fact he’s the exact opposite

- you managed to get to know all of the other Seventeen members, but getting to know Seungkwan was a challenge

- whenever you past by him in the building, he’d simply bow and say hi before scampering off

- and when you ran into a group of members including Seungkwan just hanging out in the practice room, Seungkwan would find an excuse to leave the group

- his constant avoiding made you think he really disliked you :(

- it made you more nervous about approaching him

- but more importantly, his actions saddened you a good deal

- like, the members would tell you stories about Seungkwan and his confident/funny behavior when you aren’t there

- he seems like a super fun guy to hang out with and you can’t help but think of how cool it would be to be friends with him

- but you just think of all the times he’s avoided you and begin to sulk over the impossibility of you guys becoming good friends

- so you kinda decide to leave him alone and let him be

- but little did you know that Seungkwan feels the same exact waY skdbkjsbfkdjfvskh

- he sees how well you get along with the rest of the group and he really envies the others for having you by their sides

- but rather than taking action and initiating the friendship with you, he gets freaked out and abOrts missioN

- he’s afraid of messing up in front of you in an attempt to get to know you

- he thinks of how much is at stake when he talks to such a cool, funny, talented, adorable, pretty girl like-

- wait, he thinks

- HOLY SHIT, I LIKE Y/N._&(-%”()&=:-&!$-”

- it hits him when he’s up thinking about you one night :,)

- first thing he does when he wakes up the morning after his realization is tell Vernon about his crush on you bc verkwan m8

- Vernon, knowing your open nature with everyone, encourages Seungkwan to initiate the friendship first, saying that it’ll be easy

- but Seungkwan yells something along the lines of “VERNON I CAN’T JUST WALK UP TO Y/N LIKE THAT, I’M AFRAID I’LL SAY SOMETHING DUMB AND SCARE HER AWAY.”

- but Vernon is just like, “dude, you’re not gonna get anywhere if you don’t become friends first. And besides, she loves dumb jokes. Y/n is probably the nicest human being alive.”

- just before Seungkwan can counterattack Vernon’s argument, Jeonghan pops his head into their room and says, “Seungkwan, you like y/n? ;);)));)”

- Seungkwan activates his “aggressive denial mode” and shakes his head rapidly while saying “nononono” as fast as he can

- and ofc the day just gets better when Seokmin and Soonyoung peep into the room with wide grins, having overheard the news as well

- and as much as Seungkwan tries to convince them that he had said nothing concerning you, they don’t believe him bc cMON THIS BOY WAS SO FREAKING LOUD WHEN HE WAS YELLING AT VERNON ABOUT YOU LMAO

- soon enough, word of Seungkwan’s crush spread among the members and the poor guy was fucked l o l

- so later in the day, the members head over to the company building, where they usually see you. As you encountered a few of the members individually throughout your afternoon, they would subtly hint at you about Seungkwan or ask you if you had any particular member that you liked (which you weren’t sure how to answer)

- but you definitely sensed something going on and it began to bother you

- however, when you bump into Wonwoo, he asks you something different:

- “hey y/n, why aren’t you too close to Seungkwan?”

- you sigh and explain to him that you really do admire Seungkwan from afar but he’s been giving you a feeling that he doesn’t want to be friends with you with his distant nature

- Wonwoo nods in understanding, thanks you for telling him, and you both part ways, leaving you still in a mystery

- later that evening, the guys are all back in the dorm and Soonyoung brings up Seungkwan’s little crush as a dinner discussion topic

- Seungkwan tries to defend himself with denial, but fails when Vernon hesitantly confirms the crush

- little boo is a blushing mess and hides his reddened face with his hands as the boys discuss ways to get you to like him

- until Wonwoo brings up what you had told him earlier in the day concerning your awkward acquaintanceship with Seungkwan

- Seungkwan lifts his head from the table and brightens at the mutual-ish wish to create a good friendship

- you can imagine all the members hollering in OOH’S at blushy boo

- so the next day, Seungkwan decides to talk to you and you guys finally become friends :D

- the two of you get close right away and Seungkwan is able to loosen up in front of you a little more every time he gets to hang out with you

- but he sometimes reverts to his shy and blushy self when the members embarrass him in front of you

- like one time, Seokmin pushed Seungkwan and sent him hurdling towards you and B A M you were suddenly in Seungkwan’s arms, faces suuuper close

- Seungkwan immediately stepped away from you and apologized for the sudden collision (even though the both of you really didn’t mind ;););)

- and Chan almost spilled the beans another time so all the members had to distract you from the spoiler with some other random topic (you can also imagine the hyungs covering up Chan’s mouth and Seoksoon distracting you with loud noises lol)

- BUT ANYWAYS, shall we discuss some common crushing habits Seungkwan would have ;)?

- well he’d definitely be the type to show off his singing and dancing skills whenever you’re around, trying extra hard to hit perfect notes/dance sharply

-he loves to make you laugh, so he’d try hard to be funny when he can be

- he’s also the type to play hard-to-get, like he’d make sure you’d be the one to greet him when you guys pass by each other sometimes, just to reassure himself that you’re still aware of his existence lolololol

- would have the brightest smile whenever he’s around you omg, if Seokmin is the sun, Seungkwan’s smile would be another pretty bright star :,)))

- whether he’s complimenting you or you’re complimenting him, he’s going to blush so hard it’s just fnscijfbcfvifbvofs cute

- every now and then, he’ll softly mutter a compliment to you like “ah, you’re so pretty.” and you’d be like “did you say something?” and he’d just snap “NO, NO I DIDN’T PFFT WHAT?”

- at night, he’d find himself thinking of all the cute things you can do as a couple but then catch himself with these thoughts and yell into his pillow in agony/frustration/embarrassment

- “thinking of y/n, huh,” Vernon would say to him whenever Seungkwan yelled like that

- Seungkwan would roll on his bed before replying:

- “she’s just so.... perfect. What do I do with myself...”

- it would take this boy a lot of time and hesitation before he’d confess to you

- it would be simple confession though, he probably wouldn’t go too crazy with planning cute stuff like a serenade or something over-the-top like that because he knows he’d be too nervous to kidney function

- you guys would probably be sitting on the floor in the practice room alone, just hanging out, and he’d look down before suddenly saying:

- *soft voice* “I like you.”

- “Wait what?”

- “I said...”

- “Huh?”

- *even softer voice, barely audible* “I like you, y/n.”

- “Seungkwan, I can’t hear what you’re-”

- “ARE YOU DEAF? I SAID I LIKE YOU.”

- “You... what?”

- Seungkwan looks you sternly in the eyes. “I like you, y/n.” He looks down again and plays with his fingers as he blushes. “I really really like you.”

- you look down and blush as well. “I’m glad, because I... I kinda like you... like a lot.”

- Seungkwan can’t help but surprise you with a quick peck on the cheek, making you look at him.

- realizing what he’s done, he immediately apologizes, “OH MY GOD WAIT, I COULDN’T HELP, I MEAN, I’M SORRY IF YOU- THIS- TOO FAST-”

- You immediately return the favor and kiss his cheek as well

- “I’m not dreaming again, r-right?” he blushes even harder

“Seungkwan,” Seokmin calls, waving a hand in front of the blonde. The blonde swats the hand away, absentmindedly shoving fry after fry into his mouth. He picks up his drink, blindly poking around his face with his straw, taking a few seconds for it to reach his mouth.

“Face it Seokmin, he’s off in (F/N)-land right now,” Jihoon chirps, taking a seat beside the daydreaming male. “Hey, snap out of it or I’ll revoke your status as main vocal.”

“No! No, I’m here. I’ve been here, okay? I don’t know what you mean by ‘(F/N)-land’.” He rolls his eyes and stares down at his tray, pushing around the remains of his food with a finger. The obvious tint of pink in his ears is, well, obvious, and it furthers Jihoon & Seokmin’s belief that the blonde has a crush on you.

“You know exactly what we mean,” Seokmin counters, “You’ve had a crush on her since what - middle school?”

“I don’t have a crush on her,” Seungkwan retorts, taking a long, loud sip of his drink before slamming it down onto the table. “I don’t.”

“Seungkwan, we’ve known you for forever - and we’ve lost count how many times we’ve caught you staring at her,” Jihoon replies, taking a bite into his burger.

“That doesn’t prove I have a crush on her. Maybe I just like looking at her,” he grumbles, crossing his arms. He steals a quick glance at you once more, and Seokmin and Jihoon groan at his denial.

A male approaches your table, who pulls you into a not-so-friendly hug (from Seungkwan’s point of view, anyway.) 

“That little -” Seungkwan stands, slamming his hands onto the table, startling the two friends. “He’s dead!” He begins to roll up sleeves, prepared to fight to the death, but Jihoon grabs his friend’s arm before he does.

“What do you think you’re doing? Seungkwan, you can’t even kill a spider and you think you can take out the captain of the football team? Wait a minute. Are you jealous?” Jihoon scoffs, “You react like this when she talks to another guy, and you still deny your feelings?”

Seungkwan continues to glare daggers at the perfectly sculpted, football playing, girl-stealing frat boy, conversing with you. The pit of uneasiness grows in Seungkwan’s stomach, blood boiling and thoughts in a haze - but then he comes to realization, and sits down calmly.

“Whoa, did he just give up without sassing back? Who are you, and where is Boo Sasskwan?” Seokmin mutters worriedly, glancing over the now-pale Seungkwan.

“Guys. I’ve come to a realization. I… I like her. A lot. A shit-ton. A frick-ton.”

Jihoon facepalms audibly, and Seokmin sinks back in his seat with a loud groan.

“It’s about time you realized it,” a voice cuts in. “You owe me five bucks, Jihoonie.” Seungcheol, Choi goddamn Seungcheol, is beside them in seconds, smiling smugly while holding out a grabby hand.

“If I knew it’d be that easy, I wouldn’t have made this stupid bet,” Jihoon grumbles, handing Seungcheol a bill. “Well, whatever. As long as he knows now. Thanks hyung.” Seungcheol grins and waves goodbye to the boys before striding away, tackling an unaware Mingyu with a bear hug.

“What?! You made a deal with - with - that guy?!” Seungkwan sputters, expression going from angry to pouty in a split second. “That’s unfair, hyung.”

“You’d be in denial until the day you die, Kwannie. I did this for your sake. And now that you know - you know that special stage I was organizing for our next show?” Jihoon has a mischievous smile on his face that sends shivers down both Seokmin & Seungkwan’s spines, a smile that screams bad news.

“Bumzu-hyung and I decided that it should be a duet stage, with you and (F/N).” Seungkwan’s jaw drops, and Seokmin can’t hold in his laughter for any longer. He bursts into a fit of laughter while Seungkwan experiences his first existential crisis.

“You did - what - you - why?! You do it! I can’t sing with her!” Seungkwan protests, glancing around nervously.

“You’re the main vocal of our group, and she’s the main vocal for the girls. It makes sense,” Jihoon shrugs, “Plus, you’ve sung together before. Bumzu-hyung says you two sync well.”

“Well yeah, but that was before you know, I realized I like-like her!” Seungkwan nearly shouts, holding a hand to his forehead, overdramatic as usual.

“Oh, yeah, one more thing. We’re meeting in my studio at 4 PM to go over lyrics,” Jihoon adds, ignoring Seungkwan’s desperate pleas and protests. “I’ll see you guys later, I have a class in 15.” He picks up his tray and places it into the pile of other dirty trays, and takes his leave.

“Seokmin, please -”

“No.”

You swipe your student ID on the scanner, unlocking the door to Jihoon’s studio’s floor. Hearing the door beep open, Jihoon opens his studio door, holding it open as you walk in.

A red-faced Seungkwan is already inside, headphones in as he listens to the track Jihoon composed, with the help of Bumzu.

“Grab a pair of headphones, I’ll restart it,” Jihoon says, gesturing to the seat beside Seungkwan. The blonde shifts uncomfortably in his seat when you shoot him a smile, but he returns the gesture anyway.

“Oh. It’s a romantic duet? Since when did you write romance, Ji?” You tease, shooting him a smile in return for his glare.

“Since I found out -” Seungkwan coughs loudly, clearing his throat. He pouts, begging Jihoon not to say anything. “Nothing. I don’t know, I just felt like it.” Jihoon mouths ‘you owe me’ to Seungkwan, as you nod slowly, unaware.

Jihoon gets the both of you into the recording booth, guiding you through the rhythm of the song. From time to time, while he’s singing his part, Seungkwan would steal a glance at you, the passion in his voice stronger than normal.

Jihoon smiles at that.

And from time to time, a soft smile would grace you features as you sang your lines, face pink whilst admiring Seungkwan, unbeknownst to him.

Jihoon sighs, because both his friends are so, so oblivious.

“(F/N), where’s Seungkwan? You two need to be on deck,” Jihoon asks, spinning around to observe the immediate area. You shrug.

“Uh, last I saw him he was in the changing room. I’ll go get him,” you answer, pushing your way through the crowd of members and staff. You find Seungkwan pacing back and forth nervously, rubbing his temples in frustration.

“Seungkwan? We need to go out soon.” You walk over to him and he glances at you, before returning to pacing the room again.

“I can’t - I just… I can’t go out there,” Seungkwan admits. His body is tingling, heart pounding a mile a minute. If it weren’t for the AC blasting, he would’ve been drenched in a cold sweat.

“You just need to calm down, Seungkwannie.”

“How in the world can I possibly calm down when from just looking at you, my heart beats out of my chest?! I won’t be able to calm down when you’re beside me, (F/N)! Especially whilst singing a duet this romantic. I can’t, (F/N).” He’s out of breath, breathing hard, and pink faced.

“What are you implying?” You mumble, a warmth spreading through your cheeks. Your stomach does flips, because oh - did he feel the same?

“Oh. Oh, pretend you didn’t hear that, please.” He covers his face with his hands, plopping himself down on the couch with a sigh. “I’m so stupid.”

You follow behind him, sitting as well. You take his hands away from his face, and place one of them over your chest, feeling your rapid heartbeat.

“You… You too?” He breathes, bringing himself to look into your eyes. You nod and smile nervously, biting the inside of your lip.

“Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always. We’re in this together, so let’s show them what we can do together, as nervous as we are.” You stand, offering him your hand, and he takes it, intertwining your fingers with his.

He doesn’t let go of your hand, from the changing room to the end of the performance.

Applause fills the auditorium as you and Seungkwan bow to the audience, some sections going as far as to giving you both a standing ovation. He squeezes your hand in his, swinging it playfully.

He makes eye contact with Hansol and Wonwoo, seated in the front row, and immediately regrets it because they begin to chant, ‘kiss!’, until the entire auditorium is in on it.

“Um… Only if you want?” He says, nervously glancing at you. Under the spotlight, the two of you are flustered messes being cooed over by the audience.

“It’s fine with me,” you reply quietly, and as if you’ve made him the happiest man on earth (which he probably is), he leans forward and kisses you gently, smiling into the kiss when the audience begins to clap and cheer.

“Encore?” You mumble, pulling away, laughing as he chases after your lips.

“Of the kiss? Gladly.”

A brief verkwan headcanon nobody asked for

But I’m writing it anyways oops

- Okay so Vernon is like yo Seungkwannie let’s go to the amusement park bro

-And Seungkwan thinks oH my goSh is he asking me on a dAte omg ajfdkl; wait wait Boo get yourself together he’s probably just asking in a friendly way

- And so off to the amusement park we go

- They start out on simpler rides not too scary because Seungkwan definitely loves the teacups too much as he spins them around like a maniac

-And Vernon is like lol okay Boo do what u want

- Eventually Vernon sees the big roller coaster and begs him “Kwannie let’s go on it please pleasee”

- “Uuggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I don’t wanna”

- “Oh I mean it’s fine if you’re scared…”

- Cue 20 minute lecture on how the Boo Seungkwan is absolutely not afraid of some silly roller coaster and oh look this lecture took so long that it’s suddenly time to get on the ride oh no

- Deep breaths Boo this is for love yes be brave for love

- Cue nonstop shrieking

- Cue hysterical laughing at said shrieking

- After the ride Vernon receives the silent treatment from an upset diva Boo

- Okay it’s getting late out now but after all that excitement Vernon needs to win one of the games before they leave to prove his love for Boo

- He wins an adorable hedgehog plushie and promptly gives it to Seungkwan with the most pure and precious grin and ever so slightly pink cheeks

- Cue blushy Boo

- However Boo Seungkwan doesn’t give up so easily he’s still mad at Vernon for laughing… kinda mad… (He can’t really still be mad he loves hedgehogs)

- Anywho it’s pretty dark out now getting chilly but no need to worry because Vernon has an arm around Seungkwan

- Boo snuggles happily into Vernon’s hold as they walk home together with their hedgehog son
